Abhay got stilled at his place not because the company was big but because it was his company.
JP Group of Companies.
Jindal Priya Group of Companies.
In the name of his great grandmother, whose name was later given to his mother.
Both these women were stubborn and passionate, ahead of their times and successful in making good strategies, just like this woman sitting in front of him.
She is stubborn, passionate and determined to make this project a success.
His Company.
Was it now? Not exactly. After his aunt Pooja severed all her ties with him, he was no longer a part of JP Group of Companies.
And this fact didn't bother him as much as the fact that his aunt has also cut all her personal ties with him.
Now that surely hurt.
"What happened Mr. Developer? Got scared?" Vaish asked in a teasing manner but from her inside she was very serious. She wanted to know if he was confident enough to work on such a big project.
Little did she knew that she was talking to the owner of the company she was so working hard for.
Ex-owner now. But yeah he was a major part of that company.
Abhay thought for a while.
He could tell her that he was related to JP Company and as the right way is she will remove him from this project as it will be a conflict of interest. Even though he was no longer related to the company still she is so stubborn to take help from him.
By this he will lose not only the opportunity to work for her but also to make up to his aunt. He was getting a hope that may be this project was an opportunity for him to regain the trust of his aunt.
But for getting the trust of her aunt he has to lose the trust of his fireball!
He would have to betray her. Was it right?
He thought and looked at her face again and took a deep breath before saying next few words.
"I am not afraid to work JP Company."
Vaish took a breath of relief.
"Because that company is owned by my Aunt and is named after my Great Grandmother." He completed and Vaish's jaw dropped to the floor.
"I was supposed to be the CEO of the company but I was more interested in software programming. After my parents passed away, my aunt took care of it. She was preparing me from last one year to take over but I disappointed her. So, she cut off all ties with me and now I'm no longer a part of this company." He explained and Vaish looked at him with an unreadable expression on her face.
"I was not suitable to be the CEO the company needs. My aunt was disappointed with my irresponsible behaviour. I could have lied to you and hide the truth, to get an opportunity to work for her, to show her that I could be responsible but then again it would be a betrayal. And now I no longer want to be in any guilt. So I told you." He said and stopped to look at her face which was still neutral.
"It all depends on you now. Do you still want me; an irresponsible heir of the company for which you are working so hard for, to work with you?" He asked and looked at her.
Vaish kept quiet for some time, trying to absorb this new piece of information.
He is Abhay Singh. Not some software developer she hired but Abhay Singh, the mysterious heir of JP Company. She did some research on the company before starting this project and was always wondering who will take over the company after Pooja Jindal retires.
Now she knew.
But he said that he is no longer a part of that company.
Still him working with her will be wrong because then everyone will think that she took an advantage of his knowledge and influence about the company.
Then again she didn't care for outsiders.
And he just confessed truth and she knows how difficult it can be to tell truth. How much guts are needed for it. She herself has some secrets which scared her so much.
She can't even tell her parents abouther drunken marriage. Then how hard it would be for him to confess it to some stranger!
He trusted her enough to share this part of his life.
"Past is a good place to visit but not to stay. As long as you work here I want you to give your hundred percent, may be this way you can prove your aunt about your capabilities.
So, Mr. Abhay Singh my offer still stands; Are you ready to work with me?" She said with a beautiful smile on her face and Abhay's heart made a wierd jump.
He felt the world around him disappear and everything stopped mattering to him.
The Company.
The Project.
The Design.
That beautiful voice. That sincere face and those soothing words.
He became surer of his decision than ever.
It was the moment of realisation as well as relief.
He understood with whom he will be working and he will be damned if he refuses to work for his fireball.
He smirked, devilishly.
He stood up and walked near her chair and offered her his hand for handshake.
Vaish was surprised but returned the gesture and he felt the sparks.
So now it was confirmed.
"We are going to be together in future, Vaishali. I'm not letting go of this opportunity ever." He said with meaning behind each and every word.
Let the game begin. He thought.
***
Vaish felt goosebumps with his words but maintained her posture. She understood that he was indicating something else. Something that she was also feeling.
Well, two can play this game. She thought.
She knew that he will prove himself at his work for now he was in it, to not only impress her but also to win over his aunt.
"Shall we start working Mr. Developer?" She asked.
"Yes, Ms. Fireball." He said and crossed his fingers, hoping to see a positive response on this new nickname.
Vaish's heart swelled at the name. She was called Darling, Sweetheart and Princess but Fireball was a first and she liked it. More so the way it came out of his mouth with that teasing look in her eyes.
She can't help but laugh at his antics. This project was definitely going to be a memorable one. She was sure of it.
"So, you start thinking about the ideas regarding designing and I will collect data needed." She said and Abhay nodded coming in his work mode.
***
It was late in the evening and Vaish was still working. Most of the employees have left except for her secretary and Abhay. She called her secretary to leave for the day and turned towards Abhay who was immersed in his laptop typing something furiously.
She cleared her desk and walked to him who was sitting on another desk in her cabin.
"Ahem ahem." She fake coughed to grab his attention.
"Yes Vaishali. I'm ready to leave. Another five minutes and that's all." He said without looking from his laptop and Vaish sighed.
Twenty five minutes later.
Vaish had enough. No one had ever made her wait.
She tapped on his desk.
"Five minutes more." Abhay said not looking up.
Now she was in her Drama Queen mode, after all the working hours were over now.
"Dear Lord!" She said and looked up only to see the roof but continued nevertheless; "It must be some good deeds of mine in my last birth for which are paying me in such a good way. You have given me such an efficient partner who is more disciplined than me!
Me, the ever smart, intelligent and confident one. Me, the one who has been following the principles of honesty, dedication and punctuality from an early age.
But Oh Lord! Now I'm scared if he works so much than soon he will win his company back and won't need me. So please ask him to stop for now and when we work again tomorrow shower your blessings upon us. Will you listen to my selfless prayer O Lord?!" She said in a dramatic tone, with her eyes closed and Abhay looked up from his laptop and shook his head.
She was bigger than any other Drama Queen he has ever seen. Sincere at her work but a big mouth outside it. He shit his laptop and stood up from his chair.
"Looks like God has listened to your prayers Child! Your partner's work is now completed and so we are ready to go." He said and she opened her eyes and said, "Finally."
"By the way Vaishali, you could have left me alone. Why did you waited for me? Its not like I'm your boyfriend or something!" Abhay said in a teasing tone.
Vaish now got caught. It was true. She could have left. Then why she waited for him?
She was thinking that from past twenty five minutes when she was waiting for him yet can't find a reasonable answer. She wanted to make sure that he doesn't over work and strain himself. Why so sudden care for practically a Stranger, she doesn't know.
She looked upto him, to see a proud smirk on his face and realised that saying truth wasn't an option, for it will boost his not so small ego.
"Don't flatter yourself Mr. Developer! I have a habit of making sure that all the my employees leave on time and don't use the excuse of overtime for asking holiday; next day. So, I always make sure that all people in my office leave before me." She said and thought from where does she gets such crazy excuses in her head
"So you wait for twenty five minutes for every employee and then pray for them. Is that what you are saying ? You really do have a big heart! You are not a human but a saint! Forgive this sinner, My lady! Afterall to Err is human and to forgive is divine." He said and Vaish was shocked for it was the first time someone shut her up in her own language.
"Let me make up for my sin, My Lady! Let me treat you to a dinner today." He asked casually and Vaish's eyes widened.
He was asking for a date!
Did she expected this? No!
Was she going to go? Yes!
Dinner with him could be anything but boring and so she just nodded not trusting her mouth.
Abhay smiled at her and offered her his hand which she took and together they walked out of the office.
***
"Do you mind me asking, Where do you live so that I can drop you after dinner." He asked once they were in his car.
"Don't worry about that. My driver is following us. I will go back in my own car." She said.
"I'm not letting you go with someone else after you have dinner with me. My aunt won't like if I allow a Lady to go back with some driver after treating her to dinner." He said and Vaish felt proud at his upbringing, for he wasn't sounding like a male chauvinist but a gentleman who treats women with respect.
"You are not obliged, Abhay!" She tried to deny, not wanting to burden him.
"I beg to differ. I'm not obliged. I want to make sure that you reach home safely. Don't worry I won't come inside." He added the last part thinking that she might be worried that some Stranger is entering her home.
Vaish understood the worry in his tone. He was thinking that she was doubting him but that wasn't the case. She genuinely didn't want to disturb him.
"It's not that Abhay. I trust you enough to know that you aren't the type to take advantage of a girl." She said and Abhay's heart got touched by her words and her trust.
"Your upbringing won't allow you that. I'm sure of it. Moreover, my friend won't suggest some psycho to work with me." She explained her previous statement.
"I live in Archie's Enclave." She said and was about to explain him the location but he stopped the car abruptly.
"You live where?" He asked in a disbelieving tone.
"Archie's Enclave." She repeated but wasn't able to understand the reason behind his shock.
The locallity was posh but that can't surprise him that much to stop the car abruptly.
Thank God they were on an empty road!
Abhay shook his head unbelievingly.
Archie's Enclave.
Mayfield Society.
Warli.
He knew the place too well.
Why?
Because he himself was living there!
