Chapter 2: 5:30

I set my alarm for 5:00 and went back to sleep. One hour later, I got another ring at the door. This time, it was a government agent.

"Mr. Danshov, have you seen this young lady, Angela Faust?" It was Angela!

I shook my head. "No sir." He raised an eyebrow, but fell for it.

"Well then, have a good night sir."

I nodded, "You too." Finally, I could go back to sleep. I was rudely interrupted by the alarm at 5:00. It was time to go to the park. I got dressed and began to leave the house. I walked outside, and started towards my car. About a foot away, I stopped. I realised that, maybe, I should walk out to the park instead of driving. I snuck out back and took the path to the park. It was a long walk, but I should be there on time. I passed by a family of rabbits, a snake, and a blackbird in a bush. At last I made it to the park. Sitting under a cherry tree was Angela.

She had with her a suitcase. "Hello Aki."

"H-hello, Angela. What's in there?"

She got a fire like look in her eyes. "This, this is a new type of weapon. It is a gun that has the power to disintegrate an entire being. I stole the only prototype, well, the only one that was left." She looked up at me. "The first one was stolen." I stared in shocked silence. "I-I..." She looked down. "I see, you don't trust me. Let me tell you something Aki, the government is corrupt and can't function morally. I need to do this." We stared at each other some more. "What do you plan to do? What does this gun do, like how does it disintegrate?" She smiled at me. "So you are willing to help." "I might help, depending on what that entails." She got up. "Okay, so the gun disintegrates by releasing an acid into the flesh and skin on contact. It will continue to dissolve only the human body, the acid was designed that way so there would be no damage to homes, offices, etc." An acid, I've heard about that somewhere before, but I couldn't place it. "Who stole it?" "That doesn't matter right now." Angela was really starting to bug me. "If you want me to work with you, why don't you tell me more things!?" "We don't have enough time! When we find a place we can rest, then I'll tell you, until then, you'll have to be left in the dark." As long as she wasn't' dragging me into a New Spain cult, then I was fine. "Okay then, where do we go from here?" "I've booked a hotel, over in Sezjika. We'll stay there, and then I'll tell you." A hotel room... As long as didn't pull any moves on me, then it should be fine. I'll have to get a sub... "What about my students, I'll need a sub." She clearly hadn't thought about that. "Well... Uh... Find a way?" I guess I could call in sick with Hydroclis, a disease where you are slowly killed from the inside with an overflow of water. I'd have to make up a good excuse... "What will this all entail?" Angela checked her watch, and then gave me an answer. "You may never be able to live in Jrussia again. You may become a fugitive. The rewards will be great, but you must figure out whether it is worth the psychological scars." "Psychological scars!?" "You'll soon see." I needed more than that. I wouldn't just abandon my life on a whim. "Just come with me to Sezjika, and then I'll explain more." It seemed almost counterintuitive to go to a place that was more likely to be monitored than someplace else, but I did want to know her plans. "I'll go." "Thank you so much Aki! Meet me tomorrow at the train station at 12:00 PM." I'd have plenty of time to be ready. "Alright. See you at 12." I started back home, knowing that getting involved with this would never leave me the same.
