||. CHAPTER 6 : ANSWERS .||

Log 1, 1st March, Year 3393

Honestly, I do not know how to start this. But, one day, maybe one day when I come back, I hope I would be able to look at this and laugh with the both of you about it. I am sorry about everything. When I first got the offer to be in a mission for a new planet, I only saw the opportunity to advance my career which I have long forgotten. You would probably be angry with me, especially you Rachael, always so spiteful with your words. Either way, the both of you were angry with me for leaving the both of you alone a week after your mother had passed away. I know that. I saw the anger in your eyes. But I want you to remember that I will be back to be with all of you again. I will make sure, right after this research, this expedition, I will be back with the both of you and we could probably head out for some lunch or breakfast. After this one, I promise I will not leave the both of you again. Arthur, I wish I could apologise to you and your sister for leaving the both of you without saying a word. Finding me missing from my cubical the next morning would probably be the last thing you ever wanted. Ah, gosh, this sucks. I am supposed to take logs on experiments. I don't know when I will be back, to spend time with the both of you, but I know I will return, no matter what. The two of you must always be there for each other. I can see that you both are caring for each other. Arthur, watch out for your younger sister and make sure she doesn't hurt anyone at the Base. And you, don't overwork yourself. I just need you to know that I will always be here for the both of you. I need to go now. I know apologising probably doesn't help. I am not asking the both of you to forgive me. I have my mistakes and I admit it. My biggest regret was leaving all of you when the time wasn't right. There, that's my colleague calling. Alright, I will stop here. I love you both.

"Ranveer! Ranveer! Open up!" Captain Chen banged onto the door mercilessly waking the younger Captain up from his slumbers.

His hair tousled up in a wavy manner, his eyes hazy as he groaned, brushing his face with both his palms. Lazily, Ranveer headed over to the door of his cubical, punching those familiar numbers in and let the older man to walk in as if it was his cubical. Chen barged into the cubical, pushing the door as if it would be able to shut faster if he did. Ranveer headed over to his bed and tossed himself down like a slice of handmade pizza dough. He put his arms over his eyes, shielding them from the lights which he had regretted switching on while welcoming his unwanted visitor at this moment.

"What is it, Chen?" Ranveer questioned, lazily and informally as he turned to face the walls. "If you have nothing to say, the door is on your right."

Chen let out a scoff of disbelief before crossing his legs to sit on the ground before hitting onto Ranveer's head harshly, causing the poor boy to jolt up from his sleep, muttering in his own mother tongue. Looking at Chen's serious look, the younger captain immediately silenced himself before rubbing his eyes.

"I really need a break from all this. What is it, Chen?" Ranveer stated and questioned again.

"When you landed at Planet 14 to rescue Stefan, did you notice anything else there?" Chen questioned, a hint of seriousness burnt in his orbs causing the younger captain to shiver.

"I did not, Chen. When I reached there, all I saw was Stefan eating raw fish on a rock, his shirt torn, and he was naked. We had to chase him around the swamp before getting him back. Why?"

"Sa'ne. Do you know about it?" Chen asked.

Ranveer shook his head as he studied Chen's curious figure. Chen's brows furrowed as he gently brushing his forehead.

"Don't tell me your niece and nephew had gotten into trouble with the President's son again? Gosh, this is like the 15th time. She really has a death wish, doesn't she?" Ranveer questioned.

"She does. This is not the biggest problem. We need to figure out what Sa'ne is. The President hinted something about it. It is a room. I think there is something related about it and Planet 14." Chen assured as he looked up to meet Ranveer's confused eyes.

Ranveer held his palms out before he shook his head. "Wait. Wait. Hold your words. How can something like Sa'ne here on Mars be related to something in Planet 14? You do realise these are two different planets we are talking about, right?" Ranveer questioned as he looked towards Chen. "Right?"

Chen shook his head. "I am afraid there is something in the past during the earlier days on Mars we did not know about. Stefan is not getting any sane as each day passed."

"Are you suggesting us to break down the door like dramatic movies? Or ask me to hang on a rope to sneak in like Mission Impossible?" Ranveer questioned and added. "I am sorry I am not doing any of those."

Chen scoffed at the question as he brushed his hair nervously. "Not without their help."

"You mean both Arthur and Rachael?" Ranveer asked in disbelief. "Oh dear, it isn't Rachael who has a death wish but you too. I think it runs in the family."

"Man, chill and listen to me. I know if you don't want to help, Ranveer..."

"No, Chen, I want to. But, you are talking about Sa'ne, a room we all know nothing about and it is underground. It must have lots of securities there."

Chen nodded. "Which is why we won't be going alone. The kids would be a good help to it."

Ranveer tossed himself on the bed again, this time hitting onto the steel, earning a hysterical laugh from Chen. Upon hearing the laugh, Ranveer jolted up from the bed as he stared at Chen. He looked at the elder man before thinking on his own. Stefan was already partially mad, or in this case fully and his children had already opened a chance for them to discover the hidden stories he had never heard before. Now, he is being given a chance to, so, without more thoughts, Ranveer agreed. Either way, there is nothing to lose in this mission.

Being pushed into the white room was the last thing Stefan could remember again before he faded out into a world of blue and water. He began to have a short realization that his survival would mean something for both planets. Screaming at the pain on his neck, Stefan jolted away from his seat, giving the researcher a sharp kick on his knee cap. They were yelling for him to stop, but all he could see was their body swaying like water ripples in the air. Stefan kept hearing a soft whisper in his head. It was a voice, so angelic yet so evil that he could almost sense the sharp piercing melody cut through his brains mercilessly. His grey eyes were unfocused, tears streaming down from his eyes as he growled at the researchers, kicking them away from where they were standing.

"Calm down, Captain. We are here to help you."

"Help?" He scoffed. "If you want to help me, get me to Sa'ne." He barked like a ferocious dog being infected by multiple diseases.

"Get me RE 12-1." The younger man ushered as he reached out holding onto Stefan.

"You will burn! You will all burn in within the ashes if you don't listen!" Stefan hissed.

He began muttering gibberish before he felt a cold liquid seeping into his veins, slowly drowning him into his own dreams. He felt his grip loosen as he slowly collapsed on the ground. Stefan saw the men gathering around him slowly one by one, the other kicking him on his spine. He wanted to get up, wanted to run towards the edge of Mars to know what Sa'ne is. While he was stuck in between his own thoughts, he heard a soft voice whispering in the air again. This time, it wasn't gentle. It was more like a warning. Stefan felt his strength leaving his body as he collapsed into an unknown world.

Arthur had planted himself down on the bed, his notes sprawled onto the bed as he passed a few of papers down for his younger sister. Gladly accepting it, Rachael keyed in the information in her G-Tab which was connected to the Yellow Base under their bunks. Her grey eyes studied the notes which she had manged to dig through the dark archives in Roaming 95. There wasn't much information but there were hints here and there. Arthur had climbed down from his top bunk, sitting opposite his younger sister as he removed the second wire from the Yellow Base connecting it to his G-Tab as he read through the informations he had gotten from the archives they both managed to hack after the whole afternoon.

"I am beginning to feel that this whole hacking thing is pointless, brother." Rachael started as she punched in some numbers, pushing her thick spectacle upwards and sighed.

"When the President mentioned it earlier, I knew it would be secured. Imagine a room where the informations were secured so tightly that none of us know where it is. It is an underground room, yes, but how we know which underground is it supposed to be?" Arthur stated as he glanced through a few notes he had gotten from the archives.

"The worst was that those who had ventured there will never come up again. Unless we get appa back, we might get a chance." Rachael assured as she brushed her hair backwards, nervously.

Arthur tossed the G-Tab to the side. "Impossible. It is impossible to get him out of there. And I am pretty sure the President is not going to issue a trip for us back to Planet 14."

"There is no point going back, Arthur." Rachael started. "Imagine, the whole crew is dead except for appa. There is a reason why appa is alive. If we returned without what the sirens want, we might be dead together with appa this time."

Arthur pinched his forehead for a moment. "I am beginning to doubt my understanding on these sirens. How did you even manage to stay alive in those classes?" The elder looked up at his younger sister who chuckled softly, reaching out to pat his head gently.

"It is a simple process. Look, these sirens leave you alive for a reason. They lure men close to their melody, drive them crazy and kill them under the water. These are space sirens, sirens in a new planet we never have a chance to study about. Their species might have escalated pretty fast compare to mankind. Maybe they have been existing even before we come to Mars. Arthur, we are now in space. There isn't a possibility for us to discover all the plants around Mars. Even I do not have the knowledge to all." Rachael sighed.

"We will figure this out and if, let's say if we manage to solve this, will appa be normal again?"

Rachael shook her head. "I have no guarantee, brother. But, now, we need to get to Sa'ne."

"And how do you suppose we get in there, little sister? You have to remember I have been kicked out of the Research Department. Even though he terminated me from working in appa's case, my boss literally terminated my existence in there." Arthur reminded his sister.

"Aw, poor Arthur. Well, don't worry, you can always be at the Base with me."

"Hah! Funny! I can't even do a simple kick." Arthur chuckled.

The two siblings resumed to their research as they began to work their way through the night. Arthur was already sprawled on his sister's bed and the younger chuckled at his tiredness. Rachael removed the wire from his G-Tab before throwing a blanket over his body. Browsing through the archives, she finally spotted something in between the files. There was a small note at one of the cases where they have thrown a researcher into Sa'ne because of his disobedience to the President. It was written in blood. Rachael dared not think on how he had written it for through her naked eyes, it looked as if he had written it with his bleeding fingers. She studied in between the lines as she retyped the letters all into her notes section before she swiped over to another department of the archive.

It was right at the moment that there was harsh banging on the door. Rachael jumped from her seat, her elder brother Arthur had already jolted up from his sleep. Her grey eyes widened at the harsh banging sound again. Arthur turned towards the mess on his bed before looking at his sister.

"Clean it up, I will try to take some time off from them."

Rachael immediately removed the connector before pushing her mattress back onto the bed, covering the Yellow Base completely. She then slipped the G-Tab in between the steel of the bed before messing her hair up. Arthur had already looked through the glass, pretending that he was sleepy. There were two guards banging onto their door. Well, they were not supposed to be able to track onto their Yellow Base system. When Rachael hid everything, Arthur opened the door coming face to face with two guards who were wearing thick masks.

"Can we come in?" The guard asked and Arthur squinted his eyes at the voice.

"Alright, there is no need to pretend, uncle, I know you are there. Come on in." Arthur spoke as he alerted his younger sister that it was their uncle.

Both the older men removed their masks as they walked into the cubical. Arthur locked their cubical before turning around to see them taking out a map.

"You've got to be kidding me." Rachael stated as she took the map. "Why did you do it? You do realise it is going to be a huge trouble if he found out."

Ranveer shrugged. "Well, it is worth it. But, you kids have to promise us something."

"What is it?" Arthur questioned as he stood next to Rachael who was studying the map.

"Proof to the citizens of Mars that the President is up to no good. To be honest, I know people hated him, but we need proof." Chen stated. "Sa'ne is somewhere no one knows and if you could free those in there... we all stand a chance."

"Is this where we will be told that you are all counting on the both of us?" Rachael questioned looking up from the map.

"Yup." Ranveer stated confidently. "We all have our histories don't we. Now that we see a solution and a chance, we are never going to lose it."

"Alright then." Arthur stated, turning to his younger sister. "Let's bring appa back."
