Aricle #3: Percy's Hogwarts House
Which Hogwarts House Would Percy Be In?
The Potterverse is probably one of the most popular fandoms that the PJO universe will crossover with. When Wattpad authors send demigods to Hogwarts, the demigods get sorted, and readers don't always agree with what the author decided. One character that gives rise to huge debate over which House they belong to is none other than Percy Jackson himself.
Here I'll be going through each House, listing my opinions on which parts of Percy fit with the characteristics of each.
Gryffindor
This is perhaps the most common House that Percy gets Sorted into. What are the qualities of a typical Gryffindor? Mainly daring, nerve, and chivalry. They try to do the right thing and save everyone, no matter the consequences. In short, they demonstrate the qualities of a typical hero from storybooks. On the other hand, they can be reckless, arrogant, self-righteous, and defiant.
Percy is inarguably brave, as are most of the demigods. He can be extremely noble, shown when he spares Ethan Nakamura and warns the enemy demigods on the Princess Andromeda.
Chivalry means polite, kind, and unselfish behaviour. Percy isn't exactly always polite, but he is kind and definitely not selfish.
He's not arrogant or self-centered, but he is impulsive. He has insulted and started fights with gods, sent Medusa's head to Olympus, and his decisions are generally not thought out completely. He's also defiant. He sneaks out of camp twice - to save Grover and to save Annabeth.
Hufflepuff
This is the second most popular House that Percy gets put in. Hufflepuffs are friendly, open-minded and loyal. They are humble, patient, and don't mind toiling. On the other hand, they may be too trusting or unwilling to go with the morally grey decision even if it's necessary.
Percy is absolutely loyal. It is his fatal flaw. In Athena's words, "To save a friend, [he] would sacrifice the world." Kronos actively utilized this flaw to his advantage. Percy even refuses to cut the empathy link with Grover so he would know if his friend was in danger, despite the increased risk that he himself could die.
Percy is also humble and friendly. He's definitely open-minded, shown in all the different types of friends he makes.
However, Percy isn't known for being hardworking. If he doesn't feel the need to do something, then he won't. He misses school deadlines, and his cabin is a mess - it's Tyson who cleans it up for him. He also isn't very patient and can get restless. His ADHD may be a part of this, but also the nature of him being the son of the sea god - "The sea does not like to be restrained." Hufflepuffs also avoid conflict, but Percy goes to Fighting Mode once someone wrongs him, and outsmarting the other person is reserved as a Plan B.
Slytherin
The typical people of this House are ambitious, shrewd, cunning, and resourceful. They are willing to make sacrifices, value self-preservation and have a desire to change the world. Similar to Gryffindors, they can have a disregard for the rules. They can also be prideful and selfish, with a very stern cut-your-losses attitude.
Percy breaks rules constantly, showing his defiance. He's also determined and stubborn. He battles his way through Tartarus and manages to make it out, only hesitating once. He swears that he and Annabeth will never get separated again, and follows through because he will never give up on his friends.
Percy is also cunning. He tricks Chrysaor's crew with Diet Coke and withholds Bob's backstory because he needed the Titan's help.
However, he's not ambitious, at least not to his own gain. He is reluctant to be the hero in the prophecy, turns down immortality, and protests when he is made praetor of New Rome. He's completely unselfish, and does not fully trust himself to be in charge.
Ravenclaw
The Ravenclaw House may have a reputation of having prideful or even narrow-minded students, but it also prizes wit, learning, wisdom, and intellect.
Percy is known for his sarcasm and witty remarks, but wisdom? Not so much. He can be wise, but it's not a big characteristic of his. He relies much more on making instinctual decisions rather than a thought-out plan. For these reasons, he's also not that logical or rational. He's a fairly good problem-solver and pretty clever, for the same reasons why he can be cunning. But as I've said earlier, it is not what he'd choose if he had other options.

So what's the verdict? I think you could make a good case for any of the first three. But remember, anyone can have traits of multiple Houses, or even be an equal candidate for them. Not all of the House traits that I put down are definite either, as some are my own inferences. And people change - perhaps Percy was more a Gryffindor in the beginning but gradually became more Slytherin. If you want my personal opinion, I think Gryffindor is the best fit.
