Weather
Percy was just about to fall asleep.
This science lecture was torture. Too boring. More suffering than the Mount Olympus elevator music.
How much could the teacher possibly say about... whatever he was saying?? Percy didn't even know, he'd been zoned out since the beginning.
Of course, Annabeth was scribbling down hundreds of notes beside him. He was counting on her to help him study for the quiz next week.
Gods, why were there so many quizzes?
"... which brings us to our next topic: weather, specifically rain." The science teacher said. Percy snapped to attention.
"Like Zeus!" He blurted, and thunder rumbled in the distance at the mention of the god's name.
"Yes, like Zeus." The science teacher said, clearly impressed that Percy had gotten something right. "Clouds are made of water droplets. Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall to Earth as rain."
More thunder. Percy and Annabeth both shared concerned glances.
"I thought Zeus controlled the weather...?" Percy said, hoping that the science teacher would say yes and the sky god would forgive him for saying that his power is nothing supernatural.
Instead, everybody just stared at him. Annabeth facepalmed, which she tended to do a lot whenever Percy did something. He never understood why.
"No, Zeus is just a myth. Do you really think he's real, Percy?" The teacher said, and the class burst out laughing. Annabeth had an expression on her face like it was Doomsday.
Needless to say, there was a very big freak storm that afternoon.
