Chap 2
Annabeth's pov:
"Name?" The judge asked.
"Annabeth Chase."
He looked down at the papers the guard had given him.
"You're 100 percent sure that you are Annabeth Chase?" He asked.
I nodded.
The policeman spoke up. "I know for a -"
"Did I ask you a question, officer?" The judge said.
The policeman shook his head.
"Then wait for your turn," he turned towards me. "Did anyone test a sample of her blood?"
No one spoke up. "This is an unfair case," the judge said. "Take a sample of her blood."
. . .
The policeman grunted. "Guess you were right then."
I raised an eyebrow. "So now what? Are you going to take me to -"
"I'm not telling you where I'm taking you, so stop talking."
I scoffed in reply.
. . .
I winced a little as the needle met contact with my finger. Once done, the man ushered for me to go, tilting his head to the side.
I nodded, opening the door. They said the test would be done in 5 minutes, then they'd be able to find out if I was lying. Then that policeman can finally shut his mouth, I thought.
I looked around at the dull office, the only thing slightly aesthetically pleasing was the potted plant, even then the ends of the leaves were wilting. The walls were of a dull blue, like the kind you'd see in hospitals. The creases on the walls told me it hadn't been painted or wallpapered on in a long time.
"Um . . . Miss Chase, we have your results." A woman came out of the room, giving me a small smile.
I smiled back whilst entering the room. A mam gave me an envelope.
Ripping it open as quick as I could, I smiled triumphantly. I was indeed, Annabeth Chase.
"Is the policeman still here?" I asked, a smug smile still evident on my face.
The man nodded. "Yes, he's over there," pointing to a person on a computer.
I quickly strode over to the said place, holding the envelope in my left hand. "Read it and weep."
The policeman raised an eyebrow, then took the envelope and gasped quietly. Not quiet enough for me to ignore.
"So you really are Annabeth Chase?" The man stood up. "I'm really sorry for the -"
I raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh, now goodbye." I walked over to the coat rail to grab my jacket. "Now if you'll excuse me," I zipped it up, "I've got to go."
"Ma'am, we're still not done with you yet." He said. "We've got to take you to the -"
I didn't give him a chance to finish, as I ran past the door. I was not taking any chances at wherever the hell they were taking me.
"Ma'am!" He shouted. "You better come back here!"
I ducked behind a bush, praying to the Gods that he didn't find me.
I closed my eyes tight, oddly thinking that that would help.
"Excuse me, miss?" Said person shook my shoulder, causing me to wake up.
Guessing i must've fell asleep, I looked up at the person, then quickly recoiled back.
"What the heck?" I pointed at his legs- which were switched with a goat.
"What the heck happened to your legs?" I whispered.
The man mumbled something. "I'm a satyr, now follow me."
"Satyr, or stranger?" I asked, crossing my arms. "Something is wrong with your mind as well as your legs, I'm not following you anywhere."
"Older ones are always hard to recruit," he muttered whilst rolling his eyes.
"Come on! We're being followed!" A distinct roar came from behind us, causing me to stumble.
I didn't argue anymore and took the ma- satyr's hand, running to who knows where.
"Where are we going?" I asked, after about 5 minutes.
He turned towards me. "We're taking you to a special place," he said. "A place only for special people."
"Is that going to explain how you have goat legs?" I asked, arching an eyebrow.
The satyr started bleating nervously. "I can sense the monster, we need to run faster."
I obliged, trying to turn around so I could see said 'monster'.
"Are you sure it's a monster following us," I asked. "And not a mountain lion?"
The satyr turned towards me, beads of sweat evident on his chocolaty face.
"I can sense nature," he sighed. "And that, my friend, is not a mountain lion."
I stopped arguing after that, only trying to keep up with the satyr and his abnormally fast legs.
The monster's roar was much loader, my feet throbbing as I ran. "How much longer?"
The satyr looked up at the sun. "About -oh my Gods, move!" He pushed me out of the way as I heard a scream come out of his lungs.
"Satyr guy, are you okay?" I looked around, only to see a massive snake like thingy in my way.
I tried to scream, though I was paralysed to my spot in fear. Move, move, move MOVE! I ran as a wave of heat spread to the left of me, my arm hairs singed by the hot air.
"Help! Someone help me!" I shouted, the giant snake close by me.
In front of me was a forest, trees too close together for the giant snake to squeeze through. I smiled briefly, jumping behind a tree right before flames engulfed the area I was in previously.
The giant snake roared in rage, so powerful that trees were starting to jostle in his burst of anger.
I ran nonetheless, not looking to become fried snake dinner. "Hello! Someone help!" I shouted to no avail.
I was in another forest, with no help, and a giant snake trying to eat me.
All in all, I was having a great day.
I spotted two women sitting by a lake, humming peacefully.
"Excuse me!" I shouted, waving my hands. "There's a- there's a a- giant snake- thingy a-and it's trying to eat me a- and wait." I tilted my head in confusion. "Why are you green?"
They both whispered to each other, then turned back towards me.
"Come on," the first woman said. "We've got to take you to camp."
