Percy shivered; not because he was cold (it was actually rather warm inside the cabin), but because he felt so alone. The hair at the back of his neck stood at attention and tingles shot down his spine in a (for him) losing battle.
Percy jumped with surprise, his head flinching to one side, as someone came up behind him and patted him on the shoulder with a steady, but gentle, hand.
"You alright over here on your own, newbie?" A voice, the owner of the hand and the person who had come up behind him, asked.
When Percy turned around, still sitting, in order to get a look at the other person, he was met with the sight of a boy not much older than him- maybe around fourteen or fifteen. He looked very similiar to Connor, a boy Percy's age that he had met earlier that day in one of their activities together.
He vaguely remembered Connor mentioning a brother, but the two of them hadn't been introduced yet. Percy supposed that they were about to be.
"Erm, yeah. I'm fine." Percy answered the older boy's question, finally. His voice contrasted greatly to his words, what with its hushed, timid nature and all.
"You don't sound it, bud. Why don't you come sit with the rest of us?" The boy asked, tilting his head to one side in a gesture that indicated where the rest of them were at the moment.
Percy glanced in that direction, finding a cosy looking huddle of siblings. He felt a nasty rumble of jealousy burn in the pit of his stomach at the sight.
"Okay." Percy nodded.
As the two of them stood up, and started walking away from the tucked in, lonely little corner Percy had sat in, towards the lively, homely corner on the opposite side of the cabin, the boy finally introduced himself.
"I'm Travis, by the way... Connor's brother." He tacked that last bit onto the end as if he was sure it would get more recognition from Percy.
"Oh, yeah, I figured." Percy stuttered out. "I'm Percy." He stupidly said, as if Travis wasn't already aware of that.
Travis didn't point out Percy's stupidity, nicely enough. Instead, he only laughed and took his previous seat in the circle of kids.
Percy slowly took the free spot next to him that he pointed to.
