Percy laughed to himself, highly amused as he turned to face his boyfriend stood behind him.
As everyone else cheered and whooped, as they had done every year for the past five years of Percy and Luke's relationship, Percy leaned up to place a soft kiss against the even softer lips of the taller man.
Unfortunately, Percy hadn't been looking properly, hadn't looked close enough to notice that something was out of place with the situation - that something was very wrong.
When he pulled away, quite quickly, Percy found himself staring into an unfamiliar pair of blue eyes. (The colour was familiar, and very nearly the same shade, too. But the eyes he was staring into were clearly a different pair than the ones he was used to gazing into.)
"What the-"
Percy blinked sluggishly, staring up at the man in front of him with complex perplexity stamped all over his features. His mouth opened and closed uselessly, multiple times.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" He rushed out hastily, as soon as his slow brain finally realised what had just happened.
After his apology, Percy turned towards the direction his boyfriend's voice had come from, his facial expression distraught.
Though - fortunately for Percy - Luke didn't look angry, or upset, like Percy had expected. Instead, he actually looked rather amused, his eyes bright as a pretty smile spread across his pink lips.
"You've been here, what, three minutes, Octavian? And you've already kissed my boyfriend."
'Octavian', the stranger Percy had just found himself kissing, with their lips pressed together in a feather-light peck, scowled.
"You're boyfriend kissed me, actually, Luke. Know the full story before you start making accusations.
Percy gulped and blinked back tears as Octavian eyes him wearily.
"It's not like I meant to!"
Luke appeared to believe him, but this Octavian newcomer only scoffed at him; he was definitely judging Percy. Percy could just tell.
"Well, this is awkward." Another guest commented, only now actually making the situation awkward, as it hadn't been so before; just tense.
