Annabeth's POV
Percy was bringing me to his dad's castle today. He didn't say a specific reason, but hey, what can I say? I can't just say I'm not coming to your dad's underwater palace. That would be pretty rude. I'll just finish my homework tomorrow.
"You ready to go?" Percy asked, popping out from his room. I was staying with Percy and Sally, as I was going to the same college as Percy, and it was easier for us to just live together.
"Yeah," I replied, walking over to him. I leaned in to kiss his cheek.
"Race you to the car!" He exclaimed before I could kiss him. He ran off out the door, grabbing the keys off the counter.
"Well, you're going to lose!" I yelled out. I ran off after him.
We raced down the stairwell to the parking garage, and at that point I was slightly ahead. I sprinted to the car, which was on the opposite side of the garage to the stairwell. I was able to have a last boost of energy and get even further ahead and slammed my hand down on the car before Percy even got there.
"I'm a swimmer, not a runner," he panted out.
"Yeah," I laughed, getting into the passenger seat as Percy got into the driver's seat. He held my hand and gave me a weird look.
"Why aren't you wearing it?" He asked.
"Wearing what?" I asked in reply.
"Oh right, never mind," he answered.
"Okay," I chuckled out, "Let's go."
We drove to Montauk, as that was the closest easy-access beach for us to get to his dad's place. It was a really long drive, about two hours, but Percy and I kept busy, talking about random things. I could always talk to him, he was so kind and easygoing.
When we finally got there, we basically ran out of the car to the water. It was freezing cold, as it was the middle of January. "It's cold!" I exclaimed squeamishly.
"Here," Percy said, putting his arm around me. The water around my feet suddenly became warmer.
"Thanks," I replied, kissing his cheek. We stood there staring at each other for about a minute.
"Well, are we going, or not?" Percy laughed. I nodded and we walked further into the water. Eventually, we just dove into the water and Percy created a bubble around us. The bubble slowly descended to the bottom of the sea, and soon I could make out the shine of Poseidon's palace. The bubble seemed to move faster as Percy put his arm around me and pulled me closer.
When we finally got to the castle, Percy fixed the bubble so it just went around my head. That way, we could easily walk around. We ventured into the palace.
Sitting in the middle of the throne room was Poseidon on his golden throne. "Hi, dad," Percy smiled, grabbing my hand.
"Hello, son, Annabeth," Poseidon welcomed, "Come on in!" We walked further in to see different water nymphs decorating the throne room with bits of kelp and sea stars.
"We have a bit of an announcement to make," Percy said, glancing over at me.
"We do?" I asked. I was very confused, and I hate to be confused. What did he mean?
"Yes, we do," Percy replied, giving me a strange look like I had gone crazy. "Anyway, Annabeth and I, well, we're engaged."
"You are?" Poseidon smiled.
"We are?" I asked, looking straight at Percy.
"What do you mean?" Percy asked, "Oh, right. I forgot that part. Annabeth Chase," he pulled a small box out of his pocket and went down on his right knee. All of the nymphs turned and stared at us, along with Poseidon. "Will you make me the happiest man on earth, and marry me?"
"Duh, Seaweed Brain," I laughed, kissing his cheek. He slipped the ring onto my finger. It had a silver band and a grayish coloured pearl. "Yes, we are, Poseidon."
"Congratulations! Good luck telling Athena," Poseidon said, "And Annabeth?"
"Yes?" I asked.
"Call me dad," he smiled.
"No problem, Po- no. Dad," I replied.
"Good, invite me to the wedding, you two!" Poseidon, no Dad, called out as we left. Percy wrapped his arm around my shoulder and kissed my cheek.
"Let me guess, you had a plan?" I asked.
"Yep," Percy answered.
"And you forget the most crucial part?"
"What can you expect?"
"Nothing more, I guess," I smiled.
A/N so yeah! There we go. And sorry this took me so long to post:)-Piper
