Epilogue

7 YEARS LATER

"We are so gonna win today."

"Most definitely."

"The boys don't stand a chance."

As Fiona, Rani and Kalo walked into the studio with their bags, they found Adam, Dimitri and Twitch already inside, standing by the stereo. When they entered, they all turned and shot them a look.

Fiona instantly caught Adam's eyes and saw him grin.

Resisting a smile herself, Fiona reminded herself what they were here for today and soldiered up.

Last week, the boys had told them that out of the six of them, they were the best dancers. That they created better routines than the girls, and outraged, Kalo had challenged them to a dance-off; one week to prepare, losing team had to clean the DanceDec's studios for a whole month.

The boys had accepted, and today was finally the day where the dance-off was happening. So when Adam waved to Fiona, she had to remind herself that today, the boys were the enemies.

"Ladies," Kalo spoke to the boys and walked in, dumping her bag down. "Are you ready for this or nah?"

"Bring it," Dimitri countered, sending her a smirk. "Misters first." He gestured towards them, since Kalo had officially branded them as the girls.

"Fine," Kalo snorted, turning towards Fiona and Rani. "We ready?"

"Ready," Rani confidently agreed. Fiona nodded as well.

"Great. Bring in the judges then!"

Adam grinned, but then put his fingers in his mouth and whistles loudly. "Judges!"

And with that, a flood of other dancers, students and teachers came into the studio, gathering along the walls of the studio to take part in their dance-off. Now that they had their cheering audience and thus their judges, all that was left to do was turn on the music.

"Hit it!" Kalo shouted, just as Rani had run up to the stereo and plugged her phone in. She quickly ran back to Fiona and Kalo, who had both taken their place on the dance floor. They turned towards the boys who had all taken a seat in a chair, ready to watch them.

And then, the music hit them.

– The second the music started booming, Kalo, Rani and Fiona all moved in sync, turning around as the trumpet counted down the beat. Then, as the baseline of Ain't No Other Man hit, they all moved together.

The crowd around them broke into cheers, and even though Fiona was blushing her way through it all, she worked with the vibe the crowd was giving her and followed the steps, trying not to focus on the nerves that still bit her stomach every time she had to perform.

– But instead focused on the jungly eyes that was watching her.

As the beat switched, Fiona followed Rani and Kalo's lead and walked forward, hips swinging, before stopping up in front of the three boys that were watching them. Their eyes all followed when the girls sent them mischievous grins and continued to walk towards them.

Sitting in their row of chairs, all the boys then howled excitedly as the three girls killed it on the dance floor before them, before walking in a circle around them, teasing them. All the boys followed them with their eyes, grinning so widely it was contagious. When Fiona walked behind Adam and grazed his shoulder, his wagged his eyebrows mischievously back at her. She nearly lost her step.

Quickly doing as they had rehearsed for weeks though, Fiona followed Kalo and Rani again as they then all slung their legs over their man. Fiona slid herself over Adam's thighs and then wrapped her arms around his neck, watching his surprised laugh and saw him shake his head. She couldn't help but laugh back, sliding her hands down to his chest, before leaning backwards on the chair, letting herself drop down, twisting her head as she went.

Whipping up again, hair following, all the boys got a mouthful of it before the girls swiftly stood up and left them again. Then, just as the big note came, all three girls lined up and raised their hands to the sky; in unison, they slowly slid down on the floor in a split.

The crowd went wild as they continued, the boys howling and whistling as well. The girls all spun around on the floor, before getting up and continuing their routine. Fiona almost couldn't concentrate as her eyes found Adam's again, seeing him watch her so enthralled. Even after seven years, he still looked at her like the day they fell in love.

On the cue, all three girls then suddenly flung themselves across the guys who instinctively caught them, just as the music ended. Sitting astride their laps, one leg kicked up, and arms around their necks, the music came to an end and the crowd around them exploded; Everyone cheered as the boys hollered, holding each their girl. Adam grinned as well and lifted Fiona to his lips, pressing a quick, but deep kiss to her mouth, before helping her sit up and bask in her applause.

All of the girls joined hands and made a bow to the audience, before all three boys behind them seemed to have the same idea; they all grabbed their girl and dragged them into their arms.

"Not bad," Adam chuckled hoarsely in her ear, just as Fiona turned in his arms and met him with a bright smile. "I'll score you a 7 out of 10. Could've done more with your feet."

"Save your teaching for your classes," Fiona snipped, to which Adam laughed and dipped down to steal her lips. Cupping her cheek, he planted a good kiss on them.

Adam had been teaching for about five years now. It took him some time to actually find a sponsor who would support him starting classes at the DanceDec for the kids who came in from the street. He and Dimitri had then finally managed to book some classes for all who wanted to learn how to throw down on the floor. Along with Fiona, who had been studying nutrition and health for years now, they had managed to scrape together enough money to be able to pay for their own apartment. Adam's grams had moved into the senior care center and was spending her final days with all of her friends. They still stopped by on Saturdays to visit and dance with them all.

Seven years of going strong, not a day had gone by where they hadn't loved each other. But today, they were enemies.

"Alright!" Kalo suddenly burst into the cheering crowd and shouted above them. "Now for the boys! Don't forget to boo!"

When Fiona giggled up at Adam, he rolled his eyes, but then looked down at her with a mysterious grin. Then, pushing her back on the very seats that they had just been in, he whispered near her mouth; "You're going to lose, baby. Trust me."

Fiona shook her head with a pursed lip, but then sat down with Kalo and Rani as the boys walked into the center of the room. They pulled their hoodies up over their heads and then took their mark. Fiona held her breath and waited for the music to start.

– But then, very anti-climatically, the lights in the room cut out instead.

The crowd gave a surprised gasp, and in the darkness, Fiona could tell both Rani and Kalo were looking around confused as well. Someone even yelled "who turned off the lights?" when suddenly, it happened.

The music started playing and Fiona froze up.

Single Ladies by Beyoncé started blasting through the speakers, and with knowing Adam for more than seven years, Fiona could do nothing but whisper as she knew what was coming; "Oh God, no."

The lights cut on, and it only took a moment for her eyes to adjust, but sadly not to the light. No.

It was to the fact that a smirking Adam was standing in a tight pair of leggings and a black leotard, alongside Dimitri and Twitch who wore the same. Oh, no, he wouldn't...

But he was. All the boys were moving along to the song, doing the Single Ladies dance, wiggling their hips and waving their hands – exactly as Fiona had anticipated as soon as she heard the music.

Fiona couldn't stop herself; She burst into laughter as all the boys kicked their leg out and spun around, wiggling their asses.

"What the fuck!" Kalo screamed, just as breathless from laughter as Fiona. Rani was wheezing as well, watching the three fully-grown men swing around on the floor in tight and very revealing leotards. Kalo started howling and whistled loudly. "Woo! Yeah, baby! Shake it!"

Fiona couldn't even focus as the boys continued dancing, looking about as ridiculous as was even possible, but the fact of the matter was, they were nailing it. Every step, every swing, every sassy hand wave and whip of the head. They trotted around on the floor and delivered the perfect reenactment of Beyoncé's masterpiece.

– Right up until the end.

Instead of freezing in the classic pose, only Dimitri and Twitch froze up, while Adam kept moving. Letting himself slide across the floor, he slid up on his knees to Fiona who widened her eyes when got up in her face, panting hard with a stupid smile on his face. Then, grabbing her hand, he lifted it to his lips and then suddenly reached for something tucked inside his leotard. Fiona's heart froze to a complete halt.

"Fiona Torrence," Adam then breathlessly panted, lifting himself up on one knee. With a broad, but also cheeky smile, he lifted his hand and presented her a ring; "You better fucking marry me."

Everyone screamed and broke into shocked gasps as they watched Fiona cup her mouth and let out a hopeless sob. What the actual fuck?

"Oh my G-God, Adam," She sobbed, shaking everywhere as she reached for him. She pulled him tightly against her and sobbed against his lips as she kissed him. "I l-love y-you—" She was such a mess, she wasn't even sure the words translated as she tried to kiss him while speaking.

Adam kissed her back and chuckled against her lips as she kept blubbering. "So yes?"

Fiona nodded wildly, hiccuping as she choked on her tears. "Yes! Yes, yes, yes!"

The room burst into an ear-piercing cheer and seemed to explode with tumult. The boys who had helped Adam with his little number whistled and howled, clapping loudly as he got his yes. Fiona couldn't believe it.

However, none of that was compared to the look on Adam's face as fireworks seemed to explode in his eyes. He nearly cracked his face from smiling so much.

"Yes? You said yes?" He laughed, standing up and lifting her to the floor as well. "She said yes? SHE SAID YES!"

Fiona screeched and had to catch herself as Adam without warning then lifted her off the floor and spun her around, looking up at her mesmerized.

"SHE SAID FUCKING YES! SHES MINE, GUYS! I GOT HER!"

Fiona burst into laughter, but then had to brace herself again when he suddenly flung her over his shoulder. She let out a screech when he then bolted off, smacking her ass as he ran out of the room and down the hall.

"SHE SAID YESSS! SHE SAID YES! I FUCKING GOT HER! SHE SAID YES, GUYS!"

The whole of the DanceDec got to know the news as Adam ran around with Fiona bouncing helplessly over his shoulder, no intention of putting her down. She couldn't stop laughing and crying at the same time as Adam screamed the news at the top of his lungs.

"I GOT MYSELF A WIFEY!"

"Okay, put me down!" Fiona finally laughed when this had gone on for long enough. He stopped at studio 13, the very same studio where they had first met seven years ago – where he had first peeped on her feet.

Setting her down, he captured her in his arms and held her closely. Cupping her cheek, he then leaned his forehead against hers and panted heavily after having run around, screaming. "You said yes, baby."

"Of course I did," Fiona cried, shaking her head with a stupid smile on her lips that she couldn't wipe off. "What the hell took you so long?"

Adam stared at her for a moment, then burst into a laughter. Then, shaking his head, he took her hand and finally placed the ring on her finger. Looking down at it, more tears filled her eyes when she saw the rock. She knew that thing had to have cost him nearly everything.

"There," He said, kissing her hand. "Now you can't run away from me anymore."

Fiona rolled her eyes, but still couldn't stop smiling. "Whatever. You were wrong, though."

Adam frowned a little, looking confused at her. "Wrong how?"

Fiona grinned a little. "I didn't lose today; I think I won."

Adam let out a laugh, but then pulled her to his chest and poked her nose. "Baby, I've been winning ever since that day you pirouetted right into my arms."

And to that, Fiona couldn't agree more.

The very hardest thing she had ever had to do had ironically led her to the best thing that ever happened to her.

– And now, thanks to the man in her arms, her heart would never stop pirouetting.

Such a cheesy ending, I know, but I couldn't find any other way of ending it. Might come back and edit it if I find something better.

But now, I can finally say;

The End

– Thank you for sticking with me through this story. As a treat, I present this video that very much inspired this scene.
