Ch.10 Mock town

~Y/n pov~

"Rain?" Sanji asked when something started falling from the sky.

There were wooden chunks.

I looked up and saw a huge ship falling from the sky.

"A ship?" I asked.

Luffy was beside me in an instant, looking in the same direction.

There was a huge wave as it landed.

"Hang on!" Zoro yelled as the ship started rocking violently.

I clung on to the mast and noticed Luffy stumbling towards the edge.

Reaching out my arm, I managed to wrap it around his waist and pull him towards me.

"Be careful." I sighed.

Luffy laughed and hugged me tightly, resting his head on my shoulder.

"Dream! Yeah, this must be a dream." Usopp squeaked out as he stared at the debris in shock.

"More stuffs falling, be careful!" Sanji yelled out.

I placed my arm above my head and created a water shield around Luffy and I.

The wood slowed as it went through the water and fell away from us.

"Ahh! Bones." Usopp yelled throwing the skeleton away from him.

"Don't throw it this way." Nami screamed as she avoided it.

"Let's invite it to the crew." I joked.

"Yes!" Luffy cheered.

"Don't do that!" Nami yelled.

The ship finally stopped rocking and stuff stopped falling from the sky.

"The log poseur broken! It's stuck pouring upwards." Nami exclaimed.

"That's not it. It was updated by an island with stronger magnetism." Robin replied, "If the needle is pointing upwards that means the log has been caught by the sky island."

Sky island?

"A floating island?!" Luffy grinned.

"Did that ship and those bones fall from there?" Usopp was shaking in fear and hugging Chopper.

"But I can't see anything like an island in the sky." Zoro stated.

"That's not it. To be precise, a sea is what's floating."

Luffy's grin grew wider at the thought of that.

"Calm down." I placed my hand on his head.

He relaxed and nuzzled his head into my palm.

Luffy laughed and pointed to the sky, "There's a sea with an island floating in the sky?! Alright let's head there."

"Hey, guys. Turn the rudder upwards." Usopp added excitedly.

"In any case, you can't turn upwards, Captain." Sanji stated.

Luffy frowned.

"To be honest, I've never seen the sky island, nor do I know much about it." Robin added.

"Yeah! It's impossible for an island or a sea to float in the air." Nami nodded.

"That's not necessarily true. There are lots of crazy and weird things in the Grand Line." I countered.

Robin nodded, "The log pose doesn't lie. The problem is how we get to the sky. There's definitely an island where it's pointing."

Robin opened the coffin that fell from the sky and pieced the skull back together.

"Can you learn something from that?" Zoro asked.

The cowards were all hiding a good distance away as they watched Robin work.

"You've got strange interests." Nami exclaimed.

I knelt beside Robin and watched as she worked.

Luffy was jumping on the broken ship, looking for something.

I hope he doesn't fall.

"What are those holes?" I asked Robin when I noticed two holes in the completed skull.

"It's from medical treatment. It's craterization, isn't it, Doctor?" Robin smiled.

"Yeah." Chopped nodded, "In the past, they made holes in the skull in order to constrain a brain tumour."

"It's been at least two hundred years since he died." Robin stated.

"Do you think he's been on that sea in the sky for that long?" I asked.

Robin nodded, "Probably longer."

Luffy jumped back onto the ship and presented a map to Nami.

It said Skypiea on.

So that's the name of the sky island?

"Does this mean that there's really an island in the sky?!"

"Alright the sky island exists!" Luffy, Chopper and Usopp jumped around excitedly.

Nami stared at the map with a confused expression.

"Maybe we should try asking around.." I suggested.

Nami nodded, "That's a good idea. We could travel to the next island. Maybe we could scavenge the ships remains."

"The ship has completely sunk." Usopp commented.

Nami smirked, "We'll salvage it."

~*~

Luffy, Zoro and Sanji went down.

I'm not sure why Luffy went since it's no that safe for him but it's not like I could stop him.

A huge ship pulled up beside ours.

They were salvagers... not good.

Nami managed to make it see like we were here to watch so they let us stay here.

I hope they're okay down there.

The monkey looking man started lifting the ship.

"What's going on?!" Luffy asked loudly.

Usopp gulped and slapped his hands over the device to muffle it.

The men on the other ship looked at us suspiciously.

"What's that monkey? What's it for?" Usopp asked a question about their ship to distract them.

"Oh, this one? You have a discerning eye. Launch Barco-hunter!"

The monkey detached from the ship and was lowered into the water.

The Captain started blowing air into a tube.

The ship was now above the water.

This huge shadow appeared and thus huge turtle looking creature appeared beside us.

"What is this?" Nami cried.

Usopp covered his eyes, "I can't see anything! It's a dream."

"Really a dream?" Chopper asked.

All three of them let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh? Were they all eaten along with the ship?" Robin spoke.

My eyes widened when I noticed the creature eating the ship.

"Luffy and the others were really eaten!" Chopper screamed.

I sighed as Usopp and Nami started arguing.

The ship started to tilt to the side as we got pulled in.

"Y/n! Robin! Do something. Your strong!" Usopp yelled.

I pulled out a knife and cut the hoses so we wouldn't sink.

The sky suddenly darkened as if it were night time.

"It became night?!" Chopper rubbed his eyes and stared at the sky in confusion.

Zoro, Sanji and Luffy suddenly climbed onto the ship.

Luffy was unconscious.

"Let's get away from that giant turtle." Usopp sighed in relief.

"Turtle? No, there was a monkey in the sea." Zoro raised as eyebrow at Usopp.

"He must be a sea animal." Sanji added.

"He was getting along with Luffy for a while."

"Since they're both monkeys."

Usopp interrupted them, "It's amazing you could escape from that turtle's mouth."

"Huh?"

They both looked behind them and gaped at the huge turtle.

I gently shook Luffy to wake him up.

He suddenly shot up and observed his surroundings, "Oh, Y/n!"

He grinned and pulled me into a tight hug as he started rambling excitedly about what happened down there.

"Oh and there was this weird monkey guy. Look at all the treasure we got."

They had got two bags.

Zoro and Sanji emptied theirs as Luffy jumped up to do the same.

We were about to set sail when the monkey jumped up onto your ship.

"Don't think you can get away after stealing treasure from my turf!" The monkey yelled angrily.

"Oh cool! Look at that thing over there!" I pointed away from our ship.

"Huh?"

Both Luffy and the monkey dude looked.

I shoved the monkey into the water and we set sail.

"Hey! You tricked me!" He yelled after us.

Luffy laughed and started looking through the stuff.

"Look armour!" Luffy grinned and turned to me, "Help me put it on."

I grabbed the chest plate and placed it on him.

Luffy grabbed the helmet and the other parts of the armour and put it on.

"Look Nami!"

Nami growled, "None of this is real treasure.

She punched the armour which made it crumble and then into a tiny dust.

Luffy pouted, "Mean!"

He walked over to me to complain, "Nami's being mean."

I sighed, "It's okay."

Luffy continued to pout.

I pulled him into a hug and stroked his hair.

Luffy relaxed into the embrace and clung to me.

"Better?"

"Carry me." Luffy demanded.

I smiled and picked him up.

Luffy wrapped his arms and legs around me tightly and rested his head on my shoulder.

I was holding him like a child.

"Don't spoil him." Zoro said from behind me making me jump.

"Why'd you do that?!" I huffed.

Zoro laughed and patted my head.

Nami decided that we would go to an island named Jaya to look for information.

I suggested that in the first place.

It took me a few moments before I realised Luffy had fallen asleep.

I would put him down but I knew he wouldn't let go off me and I wasn't tired yet so I just continued to carry him.

~*~

Nami, Luffy and Zoro left to go and get some more information.

Pretty much everyone else stayed on the ship and waited.

It was so warm today.

I flopped down onto the floor.

Sanji was stood near me.

"Hey, Sanji. Move over there." I pointed to a spot in front of me and slightly to the side.

"Yes, Y/n!" Sanji yelled and and moved to stand in the spot.

I relaxed when his shadow appeared over me.

"Too hot?" Sanji asked.

I nodded.

"Do you want anything?"

"No, I'm fine."

I laid in Sanji's shadow and waited for the others to come back.

"Where's Robin?" I asked once I realised she was gone.

"Huh? Oh, I don't know." Sanji sighed.

Usopp and Chopper cowered near us.

"You'll protect us, right?!" Usopp asked me.

"Yeah, yeah." I waved my hand at him lazily trying to make him shut up.

Eventually, I drifted off to sleep.

~*~

When they came back they seemed to be in a bad mood.

Nami always seemed to be angry so it didn't make much difference but Luffy seemed very annoyed too.

Luffy walked over to me and flopped down next to me.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

He didn't respond and just huffed.

I stood up and pulled Luffy with me, "C'mon."

Luffy followed me as I pulled him along.

When I sat down on my bed, Luffy instantly flopped onto the bed.

"Tell me what happened." I demanded.

Luffy moved his head to my lap and frowned up at me.

He then began explaining everything that happened.

I ran my hands through his hair to soothe him and he relaxed.

"Thanks." Luffy held my hand in his.

I smiled softly at his relaxed expression.

He was so cute. My cheeks flushed slightly at the thought.

Luffy sat up and hugged me tightly.

"Y/n?"

I hummed in reply and looked at him.

His cheeks turned red and he avoided eye contact, "Never mind."

What was he going to say?

The door opened and in walked Zoro.

"So this is where you two have been..." Zoro sighed and ran his hand through his hair.

"Looking for me? Did you miss me?" I teased.

"Something like that." Zoro mumbled, walking over to sit beside me.

He yawned.

"Tired?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Go to sleep and on an actual bed this time."

I knew I couldn't really say anything as I was sleeping on the deck earlier but still.

Zoro laid down and shuffled over so there was room for me.

Luffy pushed me down into a laying position and then laid on top of me so I couldn't move.

Guess I'm stuck here.

~*~

I woke up in Zoro and Luffy's arms.

Luffy was still on top of me but he had his arms wrapped around my tightly and his face buried into my neck.

Zoro had wrapped his arm around me and pulled me into his side, his head resting on top of mine.

"Wake up." I poked Zoro.

He grumbled but got up.

I pushed Luffy off of me somehow and decided to let him sleep.

~*~

"We're almost here on the map." Nami told us, "That man... what's his name again?"

"Montblanc Cricket." Robin stated.

"So that man who talks of dreams lives there, huh?"

"That's his house?! That's a palace!" Luffy exclaimed.

I looked up and saw a palace.

Wait.... I squinted my eyes and looked closer.

Isn't that made out of wood?

"Is this Montblanc Cricket guy mega-rich?!" Usopp added.

"Idiots. Look closely." Zoro sighed.

"A dreamer, huh?" Sanji talked to himself, "He does seem to be vain."

Luffy jumped off the ship and then gasped.

"What the?! It's just a board?!"

"What?!" Usopp and Chopper yelled in shock.

"The actual house is only half of it. The rest is just a veneer." Zoro stated.

"He seems like a very cheap guy."

"What kind of dreams did he talk about that got him kicked out?" Nami asked Robin.

"I don't know the details, but I heard that he said a huge amount of gold rests in Jaya." Robin responded.

Nami became more serious, "Is that some pirate's buried treasure of something?"

I bet she wants to find that gold...

"Well. I don't know."

We all climbed off the ship when we docked.

"Dig the ground, Chopper! Gold will appear!" Nami demanded.

Chopper actually started digging.

Another victim...

I sighed as I prayed for the poor soul.

"Hello. I'm coming in." Luffy opened the door to the house.

I sighed at his antics.

Walking over, I peered into the house.

No one was here.

"I don't think you should just walk into someone's house." I told Luffy while leaning on the door frame.

He turned to me with a puzzled expression, "Huh? Why not?"

"Why do you think?" I asked, "Wait.. Don't answer that. I don't care."

"Hey, everyone! No one's home!" Luffy announced.

Nami picked up a book from the table and looked at it.

I grabbed Luffy's arm and pulled him out of the house, shutting the door behind us.

"This is quite an old book." Nami observed. "It's titled 'Noland the Liar'."

"That's a cool title." Usopp grinned.

"Noland the Liar?" Sanji asked.

"You know it, Sanji? But it says it was published in the North Blue."

"Yeah. I was born in the North Blue. Haven't I told you guys?"

"That's news. I thought you were from the East, too." Usopp placed his hands on his hips.

"Quiet, Chopper. What are you doing?!" Nami scolded him even though she was the one who told him to dig.

"What?!" He yelled and stopped digging.

"This is a famous story in the North." Sanji explained, "It's a fairy tale, but I've heard that this Noland guy actually existed long ago."

"A story that took place four hundred long years ago. A man named Montblanc Noland lived in a North Blue country." Nami started telling the story in the book.

Luffy grinned and dragged me to sit down.

Usopp and Chopper came over and sat down too.

"Noland, an explorer, always talked about his incredible adventures. However, the villagers couldn't tell if those stories were true of not. One day, he reported to the King after coming back from his travels. 'I saw a mountain do gold on an island in the great sea.' The courageous King set sail to the great sea to see if the story was true."

I glanced at Usopp when I heard about him telling stories that didn't seem true.

Seems familiar....

"After surviving the great storms and battling against monsters, only the King, Noland and one hundred soldiers made it to the island. However, what they found there was just a jungle. In the end, he was sentenced to death for the crime of lying. Noland's last words were as follows: 'That's right! The mountain of gold sank in the sea!' The King and the others were dumbfounded. No one believed Noland any longer because Noland continued to lie until his very death."

Usopp gulped when he heard the ending.

"Alas the liar died..." Nami looked at Usopp, "before he could even become a brave warrior on the sea."

"Don't look at me! And don't add in a heartbreaking sentence on your own!" Usopp yelled in response.

Luffy let out a sudden yell.

I turned and realise he had run off for some reason.

There was a splash as he fell into the sea.

"What're you doing?!" Usopp yelled quickly running over to him.

A man jumped out of the water, "Who the hell are you?! You've got guts, relaxing at someone's house without permission! The sea in this area is my turf you're after the gold, aren't you? Die?"

Sanji charged at the man.

They started fighting.

"Move, I'll handle this." Zoro stated, also charging into the fight.

The man suddenly collapsed and both of them froze as they watched him fall to the ground.

At this moment, Usopp came up to the surface with a coughing Luffy.

"Hey, what were you doing?" Usopp asked.

I went over to them.

"I saw.. bubbles coming out of the water." Luffy choked out.

Usopp flung Luffy onto the land before climbing out himself.

Luffy coughed more and a bit of water came out of his mouth.

I kneeled beside him, "You okay?"

Luffy huffed and plopped himself onto my lap.

I got up slowly, dragging him up with me.

Chopper started to treat the man, demanding for someone to carry him into the house.

~*~

The door suddenly slammed open.

Usopp screamed and started running around, "They've come to kill us!"

"What're you guys doing here?!" Masira asked.

"What did you do to the old-timer??"

"What? We're looking after this guy right now, so go somewhere else." Luffy said bluntly.

They both suddenly started crying.

"You guys are so nice!"

Usopp fell to the ground.

The man eventually woke up while the monkey looking men went outside.

"I thought you were just more idiots after the gold." The man told us.

"What?! You have gold." Nami asked with sparkling eyes.

Usopp raised an eyebrow at her, "Don't go after it."

"What is it that you wanna ask me?"

"Old guy, we wanna go to the sky island! Please tell us how to get there!" Luffy smiled excitedly as he waited for the response.

"Sky island?" The man laughed, "You guys believe in the sky island?"

"There's no sky island, old guy?!"

"No one knows. I know someone who said there is. But people call him a legendary big liar."

I raised an eyebrow, "Are you talking about Noland?"

He nodded, "His family became a laughing stock forever."

Sanji's head perked up, "Come to think of it, Noland's name is, if I'm not mistaken, Montblanc Noland."

"A descendant? Could this place be the island in that story?"

"He's my granddad's granddad's granddad's..."

I cut him off, "We get the point. So do you know or not?"

He handed us a logbook.

~*~

"What do you need to tell us, old guy?" Usopp asked Cricket.

"Here. I'll start by telling you everything I know about the sky island. None of its certain but it's up to you if you wanna believe it or not!" Cricket told us.

"Yeah. We believe you." Luffy immediately agreed.

"Too fast." Usopp huffed.

"There's a strange phenomenon that occurs in these waters - sometimes it'll turn to night, even though it's the middle of the day."

Isn't that what happened before?

"Yeah! We saw that! Right?!" Luffy voiced my thoughts.

"Night came, and then some monsters appeared!" Usopp added.

"The giants? There's a story about where they come from but forget them for now. This sudden nightfall... it's caused by the shadows of extremely compact clouds..."

Nami furrowed her brows, "You mean cumulonimbus clouds? But it was too dark to be clouds.."

"There are clouds now as cumuloregalis clouds. They pile high into the sky but produce no air current or rain." Cricket explained, "When they appear high in the sky, even sunlight is blocked out, bringing afternoon nighttime to the ground. One theory has it that cumuloregalis clouds are fossilised clouds that have floated in the sky for thousands and thousands of years."

Nami stood up, "That's ridiculous! Clouds with no air currents even after building up?!"

"Well, there are many strange things in the Grand Line that can't be explained." I told her.

She sat back down slowly, "I guess that's true."

"They're mystery clouds, then?" Luffy concluded.

"Pretty much. There's still no explanation for them. Listen. If a sky island really does exist... that'd be the only possible place!"

Luffy stood up and grinned, "Okay! Let's go above those clouds."

"How many times do I have to say I don't know how to get there?!" Nami yelled angrily as they started celebrating.

"Now comes the real problem. Let me start by saying this... Put your lives on the line!" Cricket turned to us with a serious expression, "The Knock-up Stream is a current that shoots into the air... You can theoretically take it into the sky. Understand?"

"It's a current that can send ships flying, right?"

Luffy smiled, "Oh! Then it just needs to send us above the clouds!"

"But wouldn't we just end up smashing back into the ocean?" Nami asked.

"Normally, yeah. The key is timing. It's easy to talk about being sent up the current, but it's not gonna be as nice a trip as you guys think." Cricket answered her question, "The Knock-up Stream is a natural disaster. It's something that should normally be avoided."

~*~

"Go catch this bird! Right now!" Cricket suddenly exclaimed while showing us a statue.

"Why?" I asked.

"The Knock-up Stream is located directly south of this cape. How are you going to get there?" Cricket asked.

"Just sail there, right?" Luffy answered.

"This is the Grand Line, you know?! Once you're on the open sea there's no way to get your bearings!" Cricket sighed.

"We're heading for ocean, not an island, so we have no guide to rely on."

"How will this bird help?" I asked, getting straight to the point.

"Some types of animals have accurate, internal magnets which allow them to get their bearings." Cricket explained.

So it could lead us there?

Luffy laughed, "Then you're lower than an animal, Zoro!"

Zoro grunted in response.

"South birds are the greatest of such animals!" Cricket exclaimed.

"South?" I raised an eyebrow, "So they always go south or something?"

"Yeah. Their bodies will always indicate the direction accurately. Anyway, without one of those birds you aren't going anywhere. You won't even get the chance to go to the sky island!" Cricket explained.

"Why are you telling us now?!" Luffy yelled before jumping to his feet and running out of the house.

"You want us to go into the forest in the middle of the night?!" Usopp yelled.

They just threw nets at us in response.

"We're gonna get started on your beat-up ship." Cricket stated.

~*~

We all split into groups to search.

I was with Zoro and Robin.

There were tons of bugs everywhere.

They were so big too.

"We just went in a circle." Robin told Zoro.

"I knew that. I was just testing you." Zoro huffed.

There was a sudden noise.

"The sound of a bird. This way." Robin told us, turning and walking in the opposite direction.

"Come on." I grabbed Zoro's hand and pulled him along.

He blushed slightly but let me hold his hand and drag him along.

We were then surrounded by these weird looking creatures.

"You're in the way! Do you think you can beat me?! Huh?!" Zoro yelled in frustration, bonking one in the head with the blunt side of his blade.

This forest is so weird.

"Are we close?" I asked Robin.

"I can hear it, but I can't see it..."

We were making no progress at all..

~*~

"Where the heck is he?! It's already morning!" Nami ranted angrily, "It's forty six minutes over the agreed time! We're going to miss the current! It'll take him longer to come back, because of all that heavy gold! I just know he didn't consider that!"

"No, I don't think he ever considered the time at all." Usopp stated.

"Hey!" Luffy yelled as he came running towards us, "I did it! Check it out! A Hercules! It took me forever to find one!"

I looked at the bug he was holding up.

Did he seriously make us late because he was searching for a bug?

Luffy paused when he saw the ship, "Whoa! Awesome!"

"It's the Going Merry Flying Model!" Usopp named it.

They both started gushing over it.

"We're still going to be late." I pointed out as everyone had already forgotten.

"You're right." Nami glared at Luffy.

"What?"

"You're late!"

I sighed, "Let's just go."

Nami's hand stopped midair when I pulled Luff out of the way.

We handed them their gold and got onto the ship.

Nami was dumbfounded.

"C'mon, Nami." I yelled to her, making her snap out of it.

~*~

The sky darkened and the waves became violent.

"What does the log pose say?" I asked Nami.

"It's pointing right at those clouds." She looked up at the dark clouds looming over us.

A whirlpool appeared.

I stumbled and grabbed onto the railing so I wouldn't fall.

We headed for the centre of the whirlpool.

"No! This is bad!" Usopp yelled to himself.

Zoro smirked, "Just accept it, Usopp! It's too late. Someone else is already excited."

"Let's go! Sky island!" Luffy yelled.

This huge yellow creature jumped out of the water.

Usopp's body started trembling as he watched it fall back into the water.

The coward trio were all staring at it with terrified expressions.

The sky for darker until it looked like it was nighttime.

Usopp and Nami let out screams as we were sucked into the middle of the whirlpool.

I held onto the railings tighter.

The whirlpool suddenly disappeared.

"What? It disappeared?" Sanji looked around in confusion.

"That whirlpool was huge, too! What's going on?!" Usopp exclaimed.

There was a rumbling noise.

"Hold it!"

I turned to the direction of the voice and saw a huge raft??

"I caught up to you, Straw Hat Luffy!"

Nami gasped, "That's that guy from Mock Town..!"

"I'm here to collect your one hundred million bounty! Prepare yourself!"

One hundred million? Did it go up?

He held out the poster to us and showed that it had changed.

"Pirates Hunter Zoro and Elemental Y/n have a bounty of sixty million!" He showed us other posters.

I have a bounty now. This will cause a lot more trouble.

"What about me?! There's one for me, too, right?!" Sanji snatched Usopp's binoculars away to look.

"One hundred million! Hear that?!" Luffy cheered excitedly, "Y/n, Zoro! You two have a bounty as well! That's so cool!"

"Everyone, hold on tight!" Sanji yelled as the waves became more violent.

The ship started going up.

I grabbed the railings again.

The water shot up and rocketed us into the air.

I noticed Luffy wasn't even holding on.

He went flying but I managed to catch him before he fell off and pull him back on.

"Be careful, idiot." I told him.

I held him tightly as we flew up into the sky.

The raft went plummeting down and broke into pieces.

"What the heck's going on?!" Usopp screamed.

"The ship's going straight up a pillar of water!" Sanji yelled.

Luffy laughed, "This is fun! Go Merry!"

A sea king came flying down from the sky almost crashing into us.

"It's only a matter of time before that happens to us." Sanji stated.

Parts of wood and other things started to fall down from the sky.

Chopper and Usopp screamed.

"Spread the sails!" Nami suddenly exclaimed.

We all looked at her with confusion.

"This is the sea! Not just a pillar of water. It's a rising current!" She explained, "And the wind closing from below is a rising air current produced by the geothermal heat and steam explosion. If we're dealing with wind and sea. I can navigate it! Who's this ship's navigator?"

We quickly followed Nami's orders.

"Align the ship with the current!"

"We're gonna fall! Do something, Nami!" Luffy yelled as the ship started coming out of the water.

"We'll make it." Nami stated confidently.

The ship completely came off the water and started to fly.

My eyes widened as I looked down.

"We're flying!" Luffy exclaimed, "Awesome! The ship is flying!"

Nami smiled in relief, "We did it. With this wind and current, we can go as high as we want!"

"Hey! Nami! Are we almost at the sky island?!"

Nami pointed at the clouds, "If it exists, it's on the other side of those clouds!"

Luffy looked up, "Above the clouds, huh? What could be up there?!"

He managed to climb back onto the head of the ship without falling.

I stood behind him just in case because I knew how reckless he was.

"Let's plunge through the cumuloregalis clouds!" Luffy yelled.
