Chapter 3

Percy POV

"Wait! Amelia!" I called, still tied to the mast.

Amelia turned around. "What!?" She asked angrily.

"Why am I tied to the mast?"

"So you won't run back to Crete. Duh!"

I tried to stand as straight as I could, which was hard because I was, you know, tied to a mast. "I order you to release me."

Amelia chuckled. "You can't order me around! On this ship, you aren't royalty, you're my slave!"

"I ain't no body's slave, thank you very much!" I said, trying to break through the ropes.

"That's not going to work." Amelia said sing-songly.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because only I can untie you because the rope's enchanted Seaweed Brain!"

"Oh yeah Wise Girl!?" I challenged. "Wanna bet?"

"Depends on what the bet is."

"I bet you 10 of your meals that I can break through this rope."

"And if I win? What do I get?" Amelia asked, stepping up to me. She was close enough that I could smell her hair. Roses. A peculiar smell for a pirate.

"You get to starve me for 10 days." I responded.

"Alright." Amelia said, holding out her hand. "It's a deal. Do you wanna shake on it, oh wait! You can't! Because you're hands are tied down! Sor-"

"Not so fast." I said, pulling out my hand. "I freed this while you were talking to your 'precious captain'. Shall we shake on it?"

Amelia grunted. "Fine! Let's see you-"

"Already done." I said, releasing the rope from my other hand. "You need to pay more attention to your prisoners Wise Girl."

"Ugh! Fine! Starting tomorrow, I'll give you 10 of my meals!"

"Fine!"

"Fine!"

"Perseus." A voice from the water said.

"Did you hear that?" I asked.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Amelia asked.

"Language!"

"I don't care!"

"She can't hear me Perseus. Come to the water." Said the voice again.

"I'm going over to the water." I said, walking over to the closest edge. Amelia reluctantly followed me, maybe out of curiosity, maybe because she was forced to keep and eye on me, but I honestly don't care.

"I'm here to bring news from your father." Said the voice.

"Since when does Paul know how to communicate through water?" I asked out loud, winning a look from Amelia.

"Not that father. You're real father."

"What are you talking about? Paul is my real father."

The voice laughed. "No child. Paul is your stepfather. His scent hides what you really are."

"Oh! And that is?"

"A demigod child. You're father is Poseidon, god of the seas."

"What?"

"Tell no one on the ship about this. They will want you to lead them, while you must go back home, but first, your father has issued you a quest."

"Which is?"

"You must find the lost daughter of King Frederick of Athens. She's the daughter of Athena and is known to be somewhere roaming the seas. This is for you to accomplish and for you to accomplish alone. Do you understand?"

"Yes." I said as the voice said "Good luck."

"What was that about?" Amelia asked me.

"Um, nothing!" I said, being horrible at lying. "Now what's for dinner?"
