Laurence's pov

Aphmau's words made me freeze and tears streamed down my face. "Thank you Aphmau." I cried into Aphmau's shoulder. Aphmau rested her head on mine and I hugged her tight. After everything that happened we decided to take a break from sailing and decided to go to land. I threw the anchor overboard and the ship slowly came to a stop.

I took a deep breath and Dante helped me get the small boats. Everyone sailed to the island and Aphmau decided to stay in the water. I made a fire and Aphmau was looking troubled. "Is everything okay?" I asked and Aphmau blushed and looked away. "I-I'm fine." Aphmau replied embarrassed. I smiled and walked into the water and hugged Aphmau from behind.

"L-Laurence!?" Aphmau yelled surprised and it made me chuckle. "What's wrong? Ever since...Zane.,,you've been acting weird." Aphmau looked down and said "Laurence...if I lost you I don't know how I would be able to go on...Laurence, don't ever leave me okay?" I hugged Aphmau tighter and smiled. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I will follow you to the ends of the Earth if I have to."

"Can you two be lovey dovey later and Laurence you're supposed to be helping and not flirting." Dante said and Aphmau's face was a deep crimson and I glared at Dante and pouted. "Hmph...fine." I said and kissed Aphmau quickly and quickly got out of the water. "Don't kiss me suddenly!" Aphmau yelled embarrassed and threw seaweed at me.

Aphmau disappeared into the water and I laughed. "Come on Laurence." Dante said and I helped make some shelter. Ungrth brought us fruit and it was almost nightfall so I started looking for Aphmau. The air was getting cold and I called out "Aphmau!" I didn't get a response and I felt nervous. Did something happen to her? No, I can't think this way. I don't want Aphmau to think that I am being clingy. She can take care of herself.

I decided not to worry and I sat next to the fire. "Hey!" Someone yelled and I turned around and saw a girl in a blue dress with light blue hair...wait!? That's the girl who we tried to capture first before Aphmau! I stood up quickly and made sure everyone was asleep. "Follow me." She said with anger in her voice and I followed her. "What is it that you want with Aphmau?" The girl said harsh.

"What?" I asked and she frowned. "Answer me! What do you intend to do with Aphmau? You think that it's fine for you two to be lovers? Well it's not. It's forbidden for mermaids and humans to be together and I am not going to let Aphmau get hurt by a pirate!" I was shocked and I took a step back and started to feel angry. "You can't tell Aphmau what to do." I said angrily.

"Aphmau is her own person and if she wants to date me then fine! As long as Aphmau loves me I don't care about any law!" I yelled and the woman looked angry. "Your a pirate! Don't you want Aphmau to be safe!? If someone finds out a pirate and a mermaid are lovers do you know how much danger Aphmau will be in!?" Aphmau's in danger?

"Listen, I promised to protect Aphmau. If anything happens to her I will protect her no matter what!"
