Pins and Needles
Years spent around attractive people and the novelty is bound to wear off. They no longer stood out to me, not in the way they did when I had just started out.
Their beauty didn't make me stop in wonder anymore or so I believed, until today.
I looked over his shoulder at the reflection in the mirror as I adjusted the collar of his coat. My eyes widened as they accidentally met a pair of the deep brown eyes in the reflection and I quickly ducked behind his broad shoulders as I felt my face heat up.
It wasn't like I didn't know that he was beautiful and was caught off guard. I couldn't put my finger on what it was that made me so flustered just by being near him. It wasn't just about how he looked. Maybe it was the confidence and authority he exuded without even trying.
Kim Taehyung wasn't just any other idol I had mistaken him to be.
No words had been spoken other than the initial greetings which were exchanged when he came to the dressing room after finishing a dance practice with his group. He had quickly changed into the suit which he was to wear to an awards show tomorrow.
The phone call from their stylist informing me about how Taehyung's suit hung a little loose on him and would need alterations had gotten me close to a nervous breakdown. There was no time.
So here I was, at two in the morning, kneeling in front of him, pushing in pins wherever the pants needed to be tapered.
"Hey! How much longer will you take?" I turned to see their leader, Kim Namjoon, walk into the room, acknowledging my presence with a smile and a slight bow.
"Few more minutes..?" Taehyung replied, looking at me for confirmation and I nodded in response.
"This has never happened before. Everything should have been ready by now!" I heard the grey-haired man whine to his leader.
"This is why I was against switching to a new designer. But Bang PD refused to listen to me because the stylists recommended this label and now look where we are," he continued as my hands stopped.
I looked up at him to see him looking at Namjoon in the mirror, neither sparing a glance nor a thought towards me.
"I am sure it happened because of oversight. All of ours were perfectly tailored. Anyway, the designer's team is here to make the alterations so don't worry," Namjoon said reassuringly.
"There's hardly any time left and when things are rushed it's bound to look bad. We can't afford to not look presentable! They know how important this is for us! They should have been prepared. Oowww!" Taehyung screamed in pain as I gently pricked him with a pin, intentionally of course.
Such a prick!
"Sorry!" I apologized, smiling sweetly, as I pushed back the sleeves of my grey cardigan and placed the pin back into the pincushion on my wrist.
He narrowed his eyes at me and nodded accepting my apology. I stood in front of him adjusting the lapels of his coat, checking to see if any alterations were to be made to the body of the coat.
"Ms. Lee!"
I looked over Taehyung's shoulder to see Bang Sihyuk walking towards me. I immediately went forward to greet him.
"I came as soon as I was informed that you were here! You didn't have to come in personally. I was expecting one of your assistants!" He said, holding my hands in his hands.
"No one else could come at such short notice so I decided to come myself and it's better this way. It works best when I make the alterations myself," I replied.
"I am so sorry for the confusion. The stylists sent the wrong set of measurements of Taehyung and now you have to be here so late!" He apologized.
"Please don't apologize! Such things happen all the time. It's a good thing that it was noticed well within time! They can't afford to not look presentable tomorrow!" I said, glancing at a confused Taehyung.
"I'll let you get back to work. Taehyung take care of Ms. Lee and ensure that she gets whatever she requires and Namjoon come with me, I have to discuss something with you," he said looking at the boys as they just nodded in response. He left the room, Namjoon following him.
"Lee Minjee..! You're the designer!" I heard Taehyung whisper as he looked at me, eyes wide open.
"Nice to meet you too. Sorry about not introducing myself properly," I said, trying very hard not to laugh at his confused state.
I stood in front of him, buttoning up his coat as I felt his breath fanning my cheek. " I-I am sorry. I.. uh... shouldn't have said what I did," he stuttered his apology.
I stepped back and studied his face."Are you just apologizing because you realized it was me? Would you have apologized if it had been my assistant instead?" I challenged.
He gave me an apologetic smile while rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm sorry! Have I told you how much I loved your winter collection? I was amazed at how unique your designs were!"
I stood back, hands folded at my chest wondering if he thought that he could pacify me that easily. However, in the next instant, I couldn't help but laugh when he gave me his most innocent smile while trying to act cute.
"It wasn't that amazing. Anyway..."
I tugged and pulled at his suit, adjusting it and gave him a final glance. My eyes traveled from head to toe, making sure everything was in place.
"It's okay. Take your time to check me out. I'll wait." He smirked at me.
I laughed out loud at his brazen flirting, forgetting my initial annoyance. "Really? You like taking your women on an emotional roller-coaster ride, don't you? Being rude to them one minute, flirting with them the next!"
"That's not the only ride I take them on," he said, his eyes suddenly dark and a smirk playing on his lips as he slowly took a step towards me. I stepped back reeling from the sudden change in atmosphere.
He continued to saunter towards me, his eyes not leaving mine and his thumb rubbing his lower lip suggestively. I could feel my heart race as I stepped back, only to stop when I felt the mirror against my back.
"T-Tae-Taehyung, what are you doing?" I stammered as he stood right in front of me, leaning on the left hand he had placed on the mirror behind me.
My breath hitched as he leaned closer, our noses almost touching. "Exactly what those eyes have been imagining from the moment I walked in. Don't think I didn't notice you blush every time I caught you staring at me," he whispered, deepening his voice, knowing all too well the effect he was having on me.
A nervous laugh escaped me. "I-I don't know what you are talking about. Anyway, I should get going if I need to be able to... finish the alterations and g-get the suit back to you tomorrow morning," I said, trying hard to gather my thoughts from the muddled mess which had once been a well-functioning brain.
His right hand shot out of his pocket, as I moved sideways to escape, grabbing me by my waist and stopping me mid-stride. "There's plenty of time. No rush," he breathed out.
I felt his hand move to my left thigh, playfully stroking the skin peeking out from the rips in my jeans and I felt a tingling sensation pass through my body, almost like pins and needles, but in a better way. Scratch that, in the best way.
I don't even know how things took such a turn! I was obviously attracted to him but I barely even knew the guy! If I had wanted to get out of the situation, I could have easily done it but something held me back. I felt my cheeks turn a deep red as I accepted the fact that I was curious to see where this was going.
"Taehyung.." I whispered, not sure about what to say next.
"Minjee.." His voice so deep it almost sounded like a moan. His lips were dangerously close to mine. Unconsciously I leaned towards him, eyes closing as my lips searched for his when I suddenly felt them against my forehead.
My eyes immediately shot open to see Taehyung, who had stepped away from me, giving me a cheeky grin.
"Someone's a little eager!" He said, wiggling his eyebrows at me and eyes glinting with mischief.
That little tease! I lunged at him, wanting to smack that smug smile off his face.
He caught hold of both my hands and held it behind my back. The distance between our bodies non-existent. With his free hand, he tucked away loose strands of my hair.
I saw him smile as he bent forward to kiss the tip of my nose. "Let's get you back home before I change my mind," he said, nuzzling his nose against mine.
