Fourth of July is something we've never had time for at the Hargreeves household. Mr.Hargreaves always said holidays where distractions but just once i wish we could. I want more than anything to go outside for more than just missions. I never understood why Mr.Hargreaves seemed to specifically have it out for me with training hours three times longer than the others, maybe it was my lack of discipline or the way i always protected my siblings from his wrath , it could have been the fact that never in my life had i ever called him dad so you can imagine what happened this morning when i asked if we could have a day to watch some fireworks at the local park, not all just some. i was told if i wanted the privilege for the family I alone would work all the hours my siblings had lost for their training time, and without hesitance I said yes

"Wow Y/n how'd you manage to convince dad to let us out tonight" luther smiled

"it was nothing really just a couple hours of begging" And even more hours of training

"kit says he saw you and dad talking" klaus announced and all the color in my face drained "he said-" I put my hand over his mouth

"kits crazy" I stated knowing my siblings would kill me if they knew i was gonna work extra hours just so they could have a little fun. After all they deserve it.

"wait, no klaus what did kit say?" Ben asked"Y/n what did you do?"

"c'mon Benny boy it doesn't matter we're here to have fun not worry about me" I chuckled nervously

they all gave me a blank stare until allison and five shared a look and the next thing i know five has me pinned against his chest facing allison. I knew what was coming and i was dreading it

"please alli , don't do this" she gave an apologetic look while i struggled to get out of five's grip "please" I whimpered one more time before i knew it the words had flown from her lips

"I heard a rumor" my body calmed as tears escaped my eyes "That your told us the truth about what it took for you to get us the day off" Sob's of shame shook my body as vanya who had been silent throughout the the whole thing hugged me

"I took on everyone's training hours" I confessed "I just wanted one day where you guys could be kids no matter what it took, I promised myself."

diego slammed his hand on the wall " It's not your job to protect us Y/n . I-It shouldn't be your job to protect us" diego's voice got softer as he went on "your just as much a kid as we are"

luther rubbed his hands up and down his face. allison looked like she could cry. klaus looked like he wasn't paying attention to a thing that just happened. five looked ashamed. ben and vanya just smiled at me they knew my intentions were pure.

"you know what guys forget about my extra hour please its too late to take them back so don't let our free day go to waste, please" please say yes. please say yes. please say yes.

"yea ok, only if you're sure"luther sighed

"theirs not a doubt in my mind" I smiled before turning on my heel and super speeding to the park

Five's P.O.V

"where not actually gonna let her take all our hours are we" I quirked an eyebrow

"hell no, do you know how hard that man works her already the last thing she needs is more training"klaus snapped causing us all to turn to him surprised "theirs this ghost w-who hangs around the house he said Y/n hardly ever sleeps anymore and when she does she has nightmares. always muttering something about phasing through a glass box then she starts whimpering and right before she screams i'm always there to wake her up" hearing klaus talk about her like that made me wanna scream and cry and the same time

"im gonna talk to dad" and with that i was off, back to the house till i was standing directly in front of dad "I wanna help zero with the extra training hours"

"your sister has agreed to the terms of what comes with the day off"he didn't even look at me

"bullshit"i got in his face"why do hate her so much" he looked up at me surprised as if he wasn't expecting that question from me of all people

"I don't hate your sister five"by now the others had gathered at the door"she's too selfless for her own good and to be that selfless you have to be the best"

"YOU OVERWORK HER"this time it was vanya that snapped we we're all shocked to say the least"BECAUSE SHE'S A GOOD PERSON?"

"I overwork her because for once in her life" dad took a pause "she needs to make a selfish decision because if she doesn't here what'll happen when she's out there"

"klaus said she has nightmares" luther mumbled"about a glass box she has to phase through is that how you train her?"

"one of the ways"he looked at all of us"the other ways are none of your concern"

None of our concern my ass

my body shook with rage"WE WANT OUR HOURS BACK"I banged my hand on his table

"If i give you your hour back she'll never learn there are consequences to selfless decisions"I stood my ground

"then teach us the same lesson cause were about to make the same 'selfless' decision she made"i stared him down

"guy's" a voice squeaked from behind us"Its ok I agreed to his terms"

"allison can you do your thing" I looked at Y/n who looked about ready to bust into tear to a very hesitant looking allison"luther grab him" luther did as I asked and grabbed dad by the shoulder to keep him seated

allison stepped forward "I heard a rumor, that you gave us today off and that Y/n didn't have to take on our hour for it"she paused before continuing "also I heard a rumor that you'll stop over working her and you'll believe she's learned her 'lesson' because you know  she'll always have her family to help her deal with the consequences , you won't remember any of this encounter"

we all quickly and swiftly left the room after this once we we're out of sight Y/n tackled us in a hug and started to sob "I'm sorry, i'm sorry" as she apologizing broke all our hearts she's never let us see her so broken"i should have told you guys, I'm sorry"

"hey its ok just come to us next time you shouldn't have to carry the load all by yourself"klaus soothed"and you never will again got it"

"we're family" diego added

"yeah, family sticks together"we all smiled at each other before heading to the park to watch the fireworks
