"so you sat and
stares at my lips..."
•••

"Lisa!"

Jungkook rushed towards the door and grabbed on to the knob preventing the girl from closing it shut.

"Lisa, wait!"

"The fuck is wrong with you, Jeon?" Lisa's voice echoed as she tried to pull her door shut. "Let go!"

"No," he said pulling the door towards him. "You let go!"

"This is my door, you piece of shit!" she argues back pulling it.

"Stop cussing!"

"I can cuss whenever the hell I want! You're not the boss of me!"

"Then fine!"

He let the door go and at the same time she pulled it back causing it to slam shut. Then a few seconds later, she heard the door from across the hall slam shut as well. Lisa yelled in frustration.

"He's so fucking annoying!" she blurted out before going back to her living room to finish that can of beer.

It's been a long, tiring daw for her and she just needed the right amount of buzz to fall asleep. Leo—her eldest cat, hopped on the couch and laid next to her. She smiled before petting him and he purred.

Just as Lisa was finally feeling a bit sleepy, her doorbell rang. What does Jeon need now? Whatever. She won't answer the freakin' door for him. That annoying shit should just go back to that girl of his—

Knock, knock, knock.

Lisa was forced to get up from her comfortable spot and answer the door. She did not bother to peak through the peep hole because who else would bother her this late than that annoying, womanizing neighbor of hers?

"What now Jeon—"

Lisa cut herself off as soon as she realized that it wasn't Jungkook standing across her but her good for nothing ex.

"Lisa, I'm sorry." Sehun immediately threw his arms around her and enveloped her in a tight embrace. "Please... please forgive me."

She couldn't move due to shock.

"Please, baby," Sehun was already crying. And the smell of alcohol on him was too strong for her to even miss. "You were the best thing that's ever happened to me. I didn't know what I was thinking. Please come back to me..."

Lisa tried to break free from his arms but he was far too stronger than her.

"Ya! Let go of me you bastard!" She yelled and tried to push him away. But to no avail, Sehun's grip on her was tight and she can't do anything about it. "You're drunk, Sehun! Go home!"

"Lisa, p-please," the guy slurred as he begged. "Can we just start over? I still love you..."

Sehun tried to pin her against the wall and force himself on to her. She screamed and punched his chest multiple times before finally getting the chance to knee him in his crotch causing him to bend and finally letting her go. She immediately ran out of her apartment only to bump into something—or someone for that matter.

"Lisa!" Jungkook held her tight as she grabbed on to his arm as her legs start to feel weak. Concern plastered all over his face. "Are you alright? What happened?"

"P-Please," her voice was shaky and her grip on Jungkook grew tighter. She needed strength to just even talk. "Sehun... he... he's drunk. He... he tried to force himself on me—"

Just then, the door next to Jungkook's place opened. Jung Hoseok came out with a familiar girl behind him.

"Hyung," Jungkook said. "Sehun's inside Lisa's place. Can you help me with security? I need to make sure Lisa's okay."

Confusion was obvious on the older guy's face but Lisa couldn't be bothered with it as she slowly felt strength leave her system. Jungkook caught her immediately and guided her back inside his place.

As the girl sat on his couch, he immediately went the kitchen to get her a glass of water. He also grabbed a clean blanket and wrapped it around her body.

Jungkook noticed that the girl was still a bit shaken up so he wrapped his arms around her for comfort and gently brushed her hair. Lisa then started to cry.

"Shhh..." he whispered and kissed the top of her head. "It's all over. I'm here... I'm here."

•••

It took a while before Lisa managed to calm down. They were currently in the living room sitting on the couch

"How are you, Lisa?" Sin-a asked as soon as she placed a newly made cup of tea oh his coffee table.

"I-I'm okay." It was too soft that it almost came out like a whisper. "I... I didn't think he'd do that to me. He was never... violent."

Lisa's hand started to shake again so Jungkook took the liberty of calming it down by holding it—sandwiched between his big hands.

"We should report this to the police," the older girl suggested. "That way you can file for a restraining order to prevent this from happening again."

"N-No," Lisa immediately disagreed. She cleared her throat before talking again. "We can't let the police get involved. The media might find out about... about our past relationship."

"Oh, right. Sometimes I forget that a lot of things are different for you idols." Sin-a held Lisa's other hand and patted it gently. "But maybe you can at least tell your management about what happened? Maybe they can talk to that guy's management so that something like this won't happen again."

Lisa nodded before heaving a sigh. And just as she was about to thank Jungkook—for yet again, saving her ass, Hoseok entered the apartment. Jungkook immediately turned towards the guy.

"Hyung!" he exclaimed. "How is it? Did he leave?"

Hoseok nodded in response to the maknae's query. Then he turned towards Lisa.

"I had to call his leader over because he wouldn't budge," he stated. "I couldn't risk calling security because the media might find out. It would be risky for him especially to you, Lisa, since news just came out about his relationship to his stylist."

"Thank you, oppa," she replied with a small smile on her face. "I really grateful for your help."

"Don't mention it, Lis." Hoseok smiled before turning towards the girl sitting close to her. "I guess we better give you some space. It would be better if you stay here for the mean time."

Lisa felt confused and turned towards the girl who was also smiling at her before giving her attention back at Hoseok.

"Oppa, I couldn't impose—"

"Nonsense," the older guy cut her off before gently patting her head. He then turned to Jungkook. "It's fine, right Kookie?"

Jungkook immediately nodded which shocked her.

"It's not the first time she'll be owing me," he stated as he shrugged. "Why not, right?"

"Then it's settled." Hoseok held Sin-a's hand as she stood up from next to Lisa. "We'll leave you two here, okay? If anything happens, just call or ring our doorbell, okay?"

"Yes, hyung."

Lisa was so confused as Hoseok's arm snaked around the girl's waist as she waved goodbye. Her eyes followed the two even after they had opened the door and stepped out of Jungkook's apartment.

Who was she?

"That was Sin-a noona," Jungkook said as if he had read her mind. "Hoseok hyung's girlfriend. They live together next door."

Her mouth flew wide open.

"Oppa's girlfriend?!" she blurted out.

"Yeah. They've been together for years now. They met at a fansign event way way back. She was Tae's fan before hyung wrote his number down on her album—ow! Ya! Why'd you hit me?!"

"You're having an affair with your hyung's girlfriend?!"

"Huh?"

Lisa felt furious. Yes, she thought Jungkook was a player but never a cheater. She hit him again.

"Ow! What the hell is wrong with you?!" he spat as he shielded himself with his arms.

"How can you do that to your hyung!" She yelled at him. "Oppa's the nicest guy I know! He doesn't deserve to be cheated on!"

"Wait—ow! Stop that! Lisa!"

Jungkook held both her wrists and pinned her down on the couch just to stop her from hitting him. But she was trying her best to break free.

"Stop—Stop it!" he yelled. "We're not cheating on hyung! Noona's just a good friend to me like she is with our other members!"

"But she was hugging you!"

"Can't friends hug each other?!" he reasoned out.

"Well yes, but, you were hugging each other tightly! And... and..."

"And, what?"

"She came out from your apartment!" she blurted out. "You're clearly with her!"

"Again, she's a friend who happens to ask me this small favor of hiding her anniversary gift to hyung," he explained. "Stop giving malice one me and noona's closeness."

Jungkook looked so done with her. But of course, she can't let him win an argument. Not this one.

"Look, you and I hug each other too. And we even kissed—twice. You also slept in my apartment once. Does that mean that we're dating, huh?"

Lisa forehead creased and her mouth formed a pout. She really didn't want to lose on this one but it seems like it's starting to be a lost cause.

"But we're diff—"

"You really think that low of me, huh?" Jungkook said in a low voice. "That I am capable of not only cheating but betraying my hyung?"

Lisa was loss of words. Guilt struck her from multiple directions.

"That's not what I—"

Jungkook sighed before standing up.

"I guess I don't blame you," the guy's expression was blank. It somewhat scared her. "It's easier to judge than to believe, right?"

"Jungkook I—"

"You can use my room for the night. I'll sleep here on the couch," he said as he took a spare blanket from the storage shelf near the kitchen. "And don't worry. I won't take advantage of you. You can lock the door if you want."

Lisa bit her lower lip as she felt bad for saying those words to Jungkook. She wasn't usually like that and the guy didn't deserve her accusations after everything he just did for her.

At the back of her mind, she wanted to blame Sehun. She's slowly becoming a monster because of the trust issues she's developing due to the fact that he cheated on her. Jungkook's a nice guy and she's ruining a possible friendship between them because of it.

But she can't really blame him. Because at the end of the day, it's her who gets to decide what comes out of her mouth. Be it right or wrong. It's still up to her whether she should make assumptions out what others say versus what it truly is.

She scooted towards Jungkook who was busy fixing his supposed bed and hugged him from behind.

"I'm sorry," she whispered as she buried her face on his back. "I don't think you're a bad person. I just... I'm really sorry. There's no one else to blame but me and my stupid trust issues. I know you're a good person. Yes, you annoy me and we bicker but I'm positive that you'd never do that to anyone."

Jungkook stopped what he was doing but did not respond. She tightened her grip on him. She like felt crying again because she really felt bad about what she said.

"Kook, please say something..."

The guy heaved a sigh he slowly removed her arm from his torso. She sat up straight and looked at him.

"I'm really sorry..."

His face was somewhat blank before a small forced curve formed on his lips.

"I'm not mad, Lisa," he said flatly. "But it would be a lie if I'd tell you that I'm not hurt. Because I am."

"And I'm really truly sorry." And she meant it. She was indeed sorry for what she did and said. "What can I do for you to forgive me?"

"I said I'm not mad, Lis," he repeated. "Maybe a bit disappointed because I thought we were really becoming friends after years of being hostile. But I'm not angry at you."

"But I hurt you..."

"I'll be fine." His smile grew a bit more genuine as he gently patted her head. "Now get some sleep. It's been a rough day."

Lisa still couldn't get the feeling of uneasiness inside her but decided to trust Jungkook's words this time and let him be. She went inside his bedroom and fixed the bed a bit before getting in.

As she laid on his soft satin sheets, she had hoped that they'd be back to normal tomorrow. Or at least he'd have his cheerful and playful smile back. She waited for sleep to come but it seems like her conscience wouldn't let her.

"Um... Kook?" she called Jungkook out from the door frame. It was near the living room where Jungkook's couch was. "Are asleep?"

"Hmm? Not yet..." he must've lied because he was rubbing his eyes while slowly getting up. Maybe she was really that transparent because Jungkook let out a sigh before speaking up again. "I'll be fine, Lisa. And I'm really not mad—"

"Do you want to sleep beside me?" she blurted out cutting him off and catching him off guard. "I mean, it's your room and I really don't want to impose. Your couch is big but, you'd be even more comfortable in your own bed."

Jungkook's forehead creased in confusion making Lisa bite her lip.

"Plus, we already slept together twice so a third one wouldn't be any different, right?"

•••

Both Lisa and Jungkook stared at the ceiling as they laid on opposite sides of the bed. They didn't bother making a pillow wall in between because the King-sized bed was big enough for both of them to lay down comfortably.

Also, pillow walls don't even really work.

"I'm really sorry, Kook..." Lisa said breaking the deafening silence. "I went overboard and... and..."

"Apologize one more time and I'll march out of the door right now," Jungkook threatened making Lisa shut up. "I accept your apology, okay? It's not like it's something I haven't heard before."

That added up to the pent-up guilt inside her. Jungkook sighed again.

"I'm a guy. And idol. People always assumed that I play with girls' hearts just because my hyungs taught me to be more friendly towards girls," he started to say. "So whenever I get close to a girl and I start to feel like she's starting to like me, I tend to move a few steps back since I'm afraid I'd lead them on or something."

Lisa turned to face Jungkook as he spoke. He was still staring at his ceiling with his hands clasped together on top of his stomach.

"I guess I don't really blame them for getting mad at me," he continued. "Like what you said before, it's basically ghosting them. That's on me."

Silence grew between them again as Lisa came to realize she really did judge Jungkook so poorly. The guy was clearly just making friends before. But she's not blaming those girls for falling for the guy. Chaeyoung was right when she said it's easy to fall for a guy like him. He's a sweet and thoughtful guy. Not to mention handsome.

"Then I guess I'll be expecting you to take a few steps away from me too?" Lisa joked. "I mean, we're kinda like friends now, right? And we uh... we kissed. So..."

Jungkook rolled to his side to face her. Now their faces were only a few inches apart. Her face heated up and she felt her throat run dry. Also, her heart was starting to beat erratically.

"You're different," he said looking straight into her eyes. "I don't really know why but I don't want to step back. Weirdly enough, with you I always want to take a step forward instead. Like... like now..."

Lisa stared into Jungkook's hooded eyes as his gaze start to travel south. Towards her lips.

"Then..." She did the same too and she unconsciously bit her lip. "What's stopping you?"

They locked gazes for a good minute before Lisa—being the impatient one, cussed.

"Oh fuck it."

Lisa traversed the short space between them the same time Jungkook reached out to cup her face and kiss her.
