"Hi" -A ghost/Duel Monster is speaking

(3rd Person PoV)

The squad was at Yuga's laboratory after a wild goose chase with three other kids who were looking for an elusive dinosaur but were in reality, looking for an unethical way of making money. They got taught a lesson though so it was all fine...for now.

After that, they found a couple of emblems that they were currently studying. Well Gakuto and Luke were and unbeknownst to them, so was Yusaku. Yuga was tinkering with something at his desk. It looked like a guitar.

"I wonder what the meaning of any of them mean?" Gakuto asked, scrolling through the photos that were taken. "Yeah and some of them even look like Dragears. The similarities are uncanny?" Luke said although he looked at Dragears, who was next to him, to check if he said the word in the right way.

"Yes, it does look like me. It's like me and yet not," Dragears told him. "This is getting weirder and weirder," Luke muttered.

Yuga then walked over and glanced at Yusaku. Any luck? He asked but the ghost shook his head. "I have no clue what I'm looking at so it's not familiar to me and I doubt it's familiar to him," Yusaku explained and pointed to Yusei who was floating near Yuga. "Looks like we're going to be left in the dark with this," Yusei added and Yuga just sighed.

Then Romin walked up to them while munching on a chocolate bar and said, "That's interesting and all but I'm going home now." The boys snapped their heads up and looked at her. "Huh?!" They asked.

"Ah, Romin is very busy because there's a new RoaRomin concert this weekend. Right?" Kaizo asked and she nodded.

"Ahhh, RoaRomin. It's an upcoming indie band that debuted a year ago. It quickly became popular in a blink of an eye. The head vocalist, Roa, who's very popular with the ladies and is a bad boy Prince Charming. Romin is obviously the guitarist and no one knows the names of the bassist and drummer!" Kaizo explained, fanboying. He then added, "oh, and I almost forgot. Roa and Romin are cousins!"

"About the concert," Romin began as she took out three tickets, "I've been meaning to give you these. I was hoping you'd guys would come," she said and gave them it.

"Whoa! Front row tickets? For us? Thank you, Romin!" Gakuto said, his eyes shining. "Hey, what about me?" Kaizo whined and Yuga flicked the drone on the side.

"Hey Yuga, are you planning on coming too?" Luke asked and he turned his head towards his friend. He then looked at the ticket and made a "tch" noise. "I dunno, the location is at the Sevens Hells Hall. They say that a guitarist passed away there," Yuga explained.

And I'd rather not disturb the resting place of a dead person, he thought. "Is the ghost of the guitarist still there?" Yusei asked and Yuga gasped. I don't know, maybe? Well I better go and see if they're still there. And also go and check out the concert to support Romin because it would be rude to turn down a gift like this, he thought.

"Was there also something you wanted to check out at that arena?" Yusei asked and Yuga blinked at him.

"You know what...sure I'll go. I can't wait!" Yuga said with a big smile. Romin blinked slowly at him before giving him a quick nod.

After this, Romin went home to her apartment. In said apartment, a boy with green hair was leaning against the wall while on his phone. He was scrolling through photos of Yuga and the gang and the emblems that the squad found.

The door opened and the boy looked up to see Romin with a sad expression on her face. "Did you do as I asked?" He asked and she nodded.

"D'aww, don't give me that sad look. You just gotta follow my orders," he said before grabbing her wrist, tightly. He shoved her towards the window and let go of her wrist. "Your secret is safe with me, always has been," he told her and Romin looked at him with fear.

(Timeskip to the weekend)

"Have a nice day," the flower shopkeeper said and Yuga waved goodbye. "Are you sure you got everything?" Kaizo asked while holding onto a case. "Yep! We're just going to make a quick detour," Yuga assured him.

"WHAT?! Yuga, we're going to be late and I'm NOT going to miss this!" Kaizo shouted. Yuga waved him off while saying, "have more respect for the dead, Kaizo." That surprised him.

"The dead? What do you mean?" Kaizo asked and Yuga clutched onto the glass vase that held a couple of white roses. "You'll see," was all he said but in his mind, it was a different story.

One of my mom's old friends had a daughter who died recently and she's still around as a ghost. I was hoping that giving her flowers would calm her, he explained. "Is this a usual thing that you do?" Yusei asked and Yuga made a see-saw movement with his hand. Once they know that I can see them, ghosts tend to talk to me and I ask how they would like to move on. A lot don't know but I say that I'm available whenever they need to, he explained.

"Is that why you asked me when we first met?" Yusei asked and Yuga nodded. Yeah, before the whole...you know, soul connection. I forgot to ask Yusaku as well but I had other things in mind, he explained. Yusaku made a noise but didn't say anything.

"Here we are!" Yuga announced, stopping at a pole and a wall. There were already some flowers bundled up at the bottom but Yuga placed the vase down. "Is this like a memorial?" Kaizo asked. "It's where I met her," Yuga asked and Kaizo whirled around, nearly whacking Yuga in the face with the case.

"Her?!" He shrieked and Yuga quickly waved his hands around to shush him. "Kaizo, why don't you go on ahead? I'll catch up to you," Yuga told him. Kaizo looked at him, suspiciously before floating away.

As soon as he left, a little girl who was transparent, poked her head out from the wall. When she saw Yuga, her face broke out into a grin. "You're here! And you got me flowers!" She cheered. Yuga nodded.

The little girl then noticed Yusei and Yusaku and hid behind the pole. She looks at them, shyly. "Oh, these are my friends. They're ghosts, just like you so they won't harm you," Yuga assured her.

"Really?" She asked and Yusei nodded. "Yuga told us a bit about you. He also got the idea of getting you flowers. Do you like them?" He asked, kindly. The little girl looked at the white roses and poked them with a finger. "They're really pretty," she said.

"I'll come by again to give you some more, is that ok?" Yuga asked and the girl smiled widely at him. "Yes! Thank you, I'll be able to move on and meet grandma in heaven!" She exclaimed, happily. "I'm sure that she's waiting to see you too," Yuga told her.

He then walked away and the little girl waved, excitedly. "Bye bye!" She shouted. Yuga raised a hand and waved as well. "Bye!" He called out and Yusei gave her a small smile.

Yusaku was quiet during the whole interaction and as soon as the little girl was out of sight, turned to Yusei. "Do you happen to be good with kids?" He asked. Yusei tilted his head at this. "Excuse me?" He asked.

"Three reasons. One, you seemed like you were used to calming kids down in your simple way. Two, you trust Yuga a lot and three," Yusaku paused to let his reasons sink in.

"And three?" Yuga asked and Yusaku lowered his hand down. "You smiled. You rarely do that," he said. Yusei placed a finger on his chin. "I guess I had younger siblings, although I'm not sure. I just did what came naturally," he explained.

"...I see," Yusaku said and Yuga pointed to him. "And you, mister, we haven't seen you smile. I can think of at least three times when Yusei smiled but not you. How come or is the reason too personal?" He asked.

"...can I blame my lack of memory for that?" Yusaku asked. "...well I guess for now. You still haven't gotten any of your memories back other than you were a duelist," Yuga replied while scratching his cheek.

"Can we drop the conversation please?" Yusaku asked and the other two agreed. Still, it didn't stop Yuga from being curious as Yusaku was an enigma. Yusei was a lot more open to read even if he was also closed off and stoic but Yuga could tell that there was a soft side to him.

Yusaku was cold and wasn't nearly as open to talk with as Yusei was. It's not like they didn't talk, they're around each other a lot, how could they not, but Yusaku only really speaks up occasionally or less than Yusei.

Still, Yuga knows when not to push. He can't risk having an angry ghost soul connected to him. That wouldn't end well for him or Yusei or heck, even Yusaku. He'll just have to wait until Yusaku is more comfortable to talk to.

They arrived at the arena and Yuga saw that his friends were there. He raised a hand and waved. "Hey! Sorry I'm late!" Yuga called out and raced over to them.

"Well you're in luck that the concert hasn't started and we have time to visit Romin," Gakuto explained. "Then let's head over there!" Luke shouted, determined.

They walked in and through the hallways to search for Romin. Luke looked around the building and shuddered. "Geez, this building looks very old," he noted and Yuga nodded. "It's usually disused," he explained.

"Been abandoned for 40 years to be exact," Gakuto added but Luke suddenly stopped before turning around quickly.

"What's wrong, Luke?" Gakuto asked. He stayed quiet yet alert before quietly calling up Hand-Size Draco. "Nothing, I thought I saw something," he muttered. As they were walking through the hallway again, Draco stared behind but he didn't find anything.

"I don't know what you saw but I have an uneasy feeling about this place," it said and Luke shuddered. "Let's hope that it's nothing," he whispered.

They arrived at Romin's dressing room and after knocking on the door, she let them in. "You guys came after all," she said. "Of course, we wouldn't miss it for the world," Yuga told her with the other two boys nodding.

Gakuto then looked around the dressing room. "So where's the rest of your band?" He asked and for a split second, Romin's shoulders sank. "On the stage getting everything ready," she explained.

"Well guess what? I have a present for you," Yuga said. Romin looked at him, surprised and Luke gasped, "you got her a present?" Kaizo then flies over and drops the case that he has been carrying right onto Yuga's hands.

"Surprise!" The drone exclaimed, happily and Yuga walked towards Romin to give it to her. "What did you get her?" Luke frantically asked and she opened it.

"Remember that noise cancellation Road that I showed you guys a while back? Well you seemed to like it so I decided to combine it with a duel disk to make a Duel Guitar!" Yuga explained. Romin took it out and the guitar unfolded the dueling parts of it and she brushed her fingers on the card spaces.

"Now you can enjoy both music and Rush Duels," Yuga explained, blushing a little. Romin gave him a small smile. "I love it," she said and Gakuto walked up to her with a bundle of flowers in his hands.

"And these are from me," he gave them to her. "Thank you," Romin said.

"WAIT! I haven't got a present for you, Romin!? This is terrible!" Luke cried, a little too loudly. "It's alright, Luke," Romin tried to assure him but Luke already was running out of the dressing room while shouting, "wait one minute there!"

He kept running and running, not looking where he was going so it was inevitable that he would get lost. "Huh, where's the exit?" He asked and went through a corridor.

He noticed that this one was extremely dark and he shivered in fear. "I don't like this, I really don't like this," Luke said and Draco appeared on his shoulder. "I'm here, don't worry," he assured him, creating a bit of light so Luke wouldn't feel scared.

"Thank you," Luke told it before stopping at the darkened room where he thought he saw someone there before. He still had that unnerving feeling about it. It felt like his eyes were playing tricks on him as he thought he could see a silhouette of a person in that room.

Then he heard laughter behind him and he immediately whirled around. "Who's there!" He shouted but only saw the boy's bathroom with a singular light that was flickering.

"Th-this is t-to creepy for m-m-me, even if th-this was built f-forty years ago," Luke stammered, still scared. "That's right," a voice behind him said and Luke jumped up in the air, nearly hitting his head on the ceiling while giving a howl of fear. Even Draco joined in on the howl of fear and shook on his shoulder.

The voice belonged to a boy with dark and messy black hair that covered his eyes. He was wearing a simple grey shirt with light grey sleeves.

He chuckled and said, "there is a legend about Sevens Hells Hall." Once Luke got used to seeing him, he shouted angrily, "don't surprise me like that!!! Who are you anyways?"

"OMAENO USHIRO!" The boy shouted and both Luke and Draco cried out in fear before looking behind them. There was nothing noteworthy behind them though so they turned back to face the boy.

"53 years ago, a gifted guitarist died here and now their ghost haunts this place," he explained. "Th...THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! This place was only built 40 years ago," Luke pointed out, meekly at the end. The boy tilted his head at this.

"But that's the scary part," he said with a grin and Luke shivered. The boy continued, "whenever the ghost finds a guitarist that interests him, they drag them to the other world. In fact, many guitarists have gone missing."

Then the lights went off.

"AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Back at the dressing room, Gakuto, Yuga, Kaizo and Romin looked around. "Was that Luke?" Gakuto asked. "We need to go find him," Yuga noted.

Gakuto, Yuga and Kaizo ran out and searched for Luke. When they found him, he was rocking back and forth while hugging his knees. "Umm, Luke? What happened?" Gakuto asked with Yuga adding, "everything ok?"

"Someone told me a scary story about the ghost of a guitarist," Luke squeaked out while pointing behind him. "...there's no one there though," Gakuto pointed out, although Yuga did look around to see if he could see any ghosts around.

Then Luke's head shot up from behind his legs and asked quickly, "where's Romin?!" "Romin? Oh she's back in her dressing room," Gakuto explained. Luke got up at this.

"We have to find her before the ghost does and take her if they like her enough!" He cried out and ran towards the dressing room. "Luke, wait up!" Yuga called out and the other three ran after him.

When they arrived at the dressing room, Romin was nowhere to be found. "Oh no...," both Luke and Kaizo said, concerned. Gakuto merely rolled his eyes at them and said, "calm down you two. Maybe she just went to the bathroom."

"Umm...we would have seen her if she did," Yuga pointed out which freaked Luke and Kaizo out. "Hmm...then where did she go?" Gakuto asked, now feeling concerned.

Brrrrrrring!

"Gah! It's starting, it's starting!" Kaizo cried. Yusei, Yuga looked at the ghost who started to float away. "I got it, I'll go look for her," he assured him and Yuga gave him a swift nod.

Guess it's just us two for now, he thought and looked at Yusaku. "...I guess," was all he said and Yuga frowned. The boys and Kaizo then left the dressing room and went towards their seats.

"Ok, our seats are right...here," Gakuto said and they settled in the VIP area. "Front row! I'm so excited!" Kaizo cheered before getting shoved to the side by...

Mimi?!

"Huh, Mimi? You're here too?" Yuga asked and she nodded. "I didn't know you guys were totes big fans of Roa too!" She exclaimed, happily.

"Well we are here to support Romin and the rest of the band. How about you?" Gakuto asked. Mimi giggled before replying, "I'm a massive fan of Roa and I've been looking forward to hearing him sing live!"

"I see," Yuga said and Kaizo floated up to Mimi. "Excuse me but you're in my spot," he insisted but then Mimi shushed him. "Shh, the concert is starting," she whispered.

The stage was dark until a spotlight suddenly came down and shined on a boy, who appeared to be older than the squad, with green hair and wearing a red shirt with two purple swords crossed over each other. He was holding onto a microphone stand.

"ROA!!!!!" The girls in the crowd shrieked and Gakuto looked closely at the stage. "Ok I see the bassist and drummer but not Romin. Where is she?" He wondered. "The gh-ghost got to her!" Luke cried before getting shushed by Mimi.

"She's fine," Yusei suddenly appeared and Yuga turned to him. You sure? He asked and he nodded. "Although she is hiding, I don't know why," Yusei admitted. Hiding...why would she be hiding? Yuga thought.

"I am so sorry to keep my princesses waiting but I'm here now and ready to rock!" Roa called out and the girls in the crowd shrieked again which made both Yuga and Yusaku cover their ears.

"I have a special treat for you so be ready to be embraced by my voice!" Roa yelled and made a finger gun motion at the crowd with a wink and the girls went wild.

Then Roa smirked before saying, "but before that...special guest come on!" The room went dark before a spotlight came on and shined on Yuga???

"Eh?" Yuga looked around confused. "Our special guest is Yuga Ohdo, the creator of Rush Duels! Give him a hand!" Roa cheered and the audience clapped.

"Uhhh?" Yuga was dumbfounded at this and Roa pointed to him and declared, "I challenge you to a Rush Duel!"

"What? Roa is challenging you?" Gakuto asked, shocked. "But why?" Luke asked, confused. "I'll tell you why," Roa smirked again before adding, "to show the whole world that I am a King! But what's a little challenge without some stakes. If I win, then you hand over the rights to Rush Duels to me, making me the King of Duels! I'll rename them Roa Rush Duels!"

"That's a lame name," Yusaku deadpanned. "Ummm...," Mimi seemed hesitant about the whole thing and Gakuto said, "now just a moment-," but Yuga shrugged.

"I don't really mind, I'm not interested in being the sole holder of Rush Duels. I made them for everyone and this would make good publicity," he said and Yusaku gave him a disapproving shake of his head.

"Well then, let's start the duel that stakes the title of King!" Roa called out.

The three boys find themselves on stage while Roa keeps up the show with his fans cheering and clapping.

"Why are we also here?" Gakuto asked and Roa turned to them. "Well it would be sooo boring if we had just one duel so let's make it a 3v3 team battle!" He explained and the crowd went wild.

Except for one. If RoaRomin's popularity skyrockets if he wins, then getting concert tickets will be more difficult! Mimi thought, shocked.

"Alright, a 3v3 team battle. This should be fun!" Yuga called out and placed his hands behind his head. "I'll go first!" Luke volunteered, raising his hand in the air.

"Alright then. Your opponent shall be...," Roa snapped his fingers and a spotlight shined on someone eerily familiar.

"OMAENO USHIRO!"

It was the same boy that Luke saw earlier which scared him and Luke looked behind him. "...nothing there," he muttered before looking back.

"Oh! You're the guy I saw in the corridor!" He declared way too late. "He's RoaRomin's bassist," Roa explained.

"Hmm, let's see...," Mimi murmured as she looked through the band's guidebook. "Looks like his name is Ushiro," Kaizo sighed.

Ushiro stepped forward with a creepy smile. "Well, well, well. Looks like it's our fate that we duel right here on the grave of the dead guitarist who still haunts this place," he said and Yuga perked up at this.

Did you see any ghosts when you were searching for Romin? He asked and Yusei shook his head. "It was quiet...too quiet," he replied. They looked back at the duel as Ushiro shouted his name again because Luke asked who he was.

Luke, once again, looked behind him before looking back at Ushiro again. "You need to stop scaring me," he growled while putting on his duel disk. "Oh believe me...you'll see what true fear is in just a moment," Ushiro crackled while putting his duel disk on.

"Let's Go, Rush Duel!"

Luke - 4000 LPS

V.S.

Ushiro - 4000 LPS

As the green, holographic dome surrounded them, sudden candlelight flashed around Luke and Ushiro, making the former flinch.

"Wha-wha-what?!" Luke cried out while Ushiro just laughed. "I will begin, Ghoulish draw," he said, drawing a card.

"It's here...,"

"What's here?" Luke asked, shivering.

"In the boys' bathroom of Sevens Hells Hall, you often feel a presence over your shoulder," Ushiro explained, creepily. "Why is he suddenly talking like that?" Gakuto asked, nervously.

"When doing your business, you must never look over your shoulder or else that presence will last forever!" Ushiro howled which scared Gakuto, Yuga and Kaizo.

"It's not that scary," Yusaku deadpanned, to which Yuga responded by sticking his tongue out and gently pulling underneath his eye.

"I summon Ms. Hanako Behind You (ATK: 0. DF: 800)," Ushiro said and a small girl with black hair wearing a red skirt and suspenders underneath a white dress shirt appeared and giggled creepily, her blank eyes staring at Luke.

"The real terror has only just begun as if you happened to sleep in the dressing room of Sevens Hells Hall, you'll feel a bit of sleep paralysis and once you open your eyes in the dark, you'll see Okiku Doll of Witching Hour (ATK: 0. DF: 200) right in front of you!" Ushiro shouted and summoned up a doll with pale white skin, long and spiky black hair, red robes and was holding up long nails with a giant hammer.

"Eek!" Gakuto and Kaizo squeaked at this but Ushiro wasn't done.

"Do you know about the purple mirror? Be careful if you do...YOU'LL DIE IF YOU REMEMBER IT IN TEN YEARS!" He shouted before adding on, "I summon The Thing in the Purple Mirror (ATK: 0. DF: 300)."

A purple mirror appeared and out came a shadowy figure with yellow slits for eyes appeared.

"Can't he summon his monsters normally," Gakuto asked, shivering while hugging Kaizo. Yuga however, tilted his head as he looked at Ushiro's monsters.

"They all have zero attack points. I wonder what plan he has?" He asked. "More importantly, how will Luke deal with this?" Yusei added.

"I...OMEANO USHIRO!" Ushiro started, which made Luke look behind his shoulder. "Ask you what's wrong? Scared? You should be as I activate the spell, Cursed Fan Letter. This changes all my Zombie type monsters into defense mode and then I send the same number of cards in your hand to the graveyard," Ushiro added.

Purple fire flamed up and took away three of Luke's cards, leaving him only with Dragears.

"Plus for every card that you have sent to the graveyard, you take 300 points of damage so your body will suffer in hellfire!" Ushiro explained with the purple fire flaring up around Luke, causing him to fall on one knee.

4000 —> 3100 LPS

"Luke!" He heard Dragears call out to him from his card but Luke didn't answer him. "I set one card face down and end my turn," Ushiro said.

"Damn it," Luke cursed as a candle extinguished beside him and he drew four cards. He looked at them and gasped.

I don't have a single monster other than Dragears! He thought.

"It's here."

"Again?" Luke asked, angrily as Ushiro chuckled. "I activate my trap card," the latter said.

Slowly, blue footprints appeared and were trudging towards Luke. A shadowy figure appeared behind him as Ushiro stated, "Gradually Approaching Footsteps. This card can be activated whenever my opponent draws cards during the Draw phase when they don't control a single spell or trap card."

The shadowy figure reached over and plucked out the cards from Luke's hand and threw them in the air, revealing them.

"My trap allows me to check your hand and select up to three spell or trap cards that you may have. Then I'll force you to set them and you'll take 300 points of damage for every card that you set," Ushiro explained and the shadowy figure engulfed him.

"You...!" Luke snapped before Ushiro shouted again, "I, OMEANO USHIRO!"

This made Luke look behind him again. "...I got to stop falling for that," he muttered before turning to look at his opponent.

Ushiro continued, "tell you that you can't do anything else so I suggest that you end your turn." Luke hissed in anger but knew deep down that he was right. There was nothing he could do right now.

"Turn over," he said and another candle went out.

Unbeknownst to them, Romin peered over from a door frame with a look of guilt on her face. I am so sorry, Luke, she thought, clutching onto a silver hair accessory that she was holding onto.

(Flashback)

"Now Romin, from what you've told me, Luke is quick to believe whatever he is told so for the duel that he'll have at our concert, let's have him duel Ushiro and have a Ghost Story Duel. He'll be so fearful of his stories," Roa said with a smile.

Romin looked away, feeling extremely guilty. She hugged herself as Roa continued.

"He's so straightforward and trusting. I almost admire him for that if it wasn't for the fact that I used you to tell him about the Legend of the King of Duels to him while he was sleeping in class," he said and Romin shrunk down even more.

(Flashback over)

Back at the duel, it was now Ushiro's turn as he drew five cards. "It's finally here," he said for a third time. It was honestly getting kind of tiring (in Yusaku's opinion).

"Wh-wh-who arrived?" Kaizo asked, shivering as Gakuto was still hugging the drone for support.

"I, OMEANO USHIRO!" Ushiro shouted and Luke looked behind him again. He continued, "activate the spell card, Dry Knock Sound."

KNOCK

KNOCK

KNOCK

KNOCK

"F-f-four times?!" Luke stammered.

"Indeed. My spell can be activated if you have three spell or trap cards on your field. Dry Knock Sound can destroy two of them!" Ushiro explained and two shadow columns appeared, destroying two of Luke's cards.

"Luke!" Gakuto cried out.

"Fortunately for you, I can't attack this turn so you're safe for now," Ushiro explained and Luke let out a sigh of relief.

"However, that doesn't mean that my turn isn't done. I release two of my zombie type monsters to Advance summon Wicked Shadow Dark Lurker (ATK: 100. DF: 2600)!" Ushiro shouted and summoned up a large monster wearing black, ripped robes and was wielding a huge, ebony black scythe.

"For how little its attack points are, it makes up for its effect. You shall feel its terror by sending the top card of my deck to the graveyard, I can destroy one card on your field and inflict 1000 points of damage to you," Ushiro explained.

His monster raised its scythe and slashed at Luke, inflicting damage and destroying the last remaining card on Luke's field.

2200 —> 1200 LPS

"And once that effect resolves, Dark Lurker returns to my hand," Ushiro said and his monster disappeared from the field.

"Ushiro hasn't battled yet but he has gotten Luke pretty low on life points, oh no!" Gakuto gasped. "Just who is this guy?" Yuga muttered.

"OMEANO USHIRO!" He shouted which made Luke look behind him. He then winced as he fell for it again.

"I set these two cards down and end my turn. You're up, if you can," Ushiro said and as soon as he did that, two candles went out.

"Damn...," Luke murmured before drawing four cards. He looked at the cards with a trembling hand before hearing a noise.

Rrrrrring

Rrrrrring

Luke looked up with his mouth open in surprise as Ushiro said, "looks like it's for you. How about you answer it? Or rather...how about I activate my trap, Cursed Call Number."

He added, "for every card that you just drew, I can inflict you 300 points of damage."

Blue shadows shot up and engulfed Luke. He fell to his knees, shaking.

1200 —> 300 LPS

"If you want to attack now, you'll have to attack the monster with the lowest level," Ushiro added and Luke held onto his head.

I'm going to lose! I'm going to lose! This is...this is bad. I'm scared, so scared, he thought and shut his eyes tight, feeling like he was a little kid again.

"Luke...," Dragears said, from his card. He remembered a time where Luke was just like this.

(Flashback)

Dragears held a frightened Luke who looked to be toddler age, in his claws while staring at a blue dragon with golden armor.

"My queen, please get me off the battlefield against the Mirror World. I need to protect Luke until we can find a way to return him home, he doesn't deserve to see us at war at such a young age," he begged and the dragon lowered her head.

"I see. Very well then but make sure to return once you do so. I fear that this will not be the end," she said. Dragears nodded.

"I hope that one day, this war will be over," he said before flapping his wings and flying away. Luke must return back home!

(Flashback over)

"Luke, I promise you that you will never feel frightened like that ever again. I promised you that! You must believe in us, we have your back!" Dragears declared.

"..." Luke opened his eyes and looked at Dragears' card. "...Dragears," he whispered before standing up.

"Oh, you're up? I guess that means I can activate my trap, and it's my favorite one. It shares the same name as me in its translation, It's Right Behind You!" Ushiro explained and Luke gasped.

"With this card, I can special summon a Zombie type monster from my hand to the field and switch its attack and defense points," Ushiro continued and held a card in the air.

He began to chant, "The shadow will always follow you around. Right behind you, without even making a sound! It'll follow you, no matter where you run! When you turn around, it'll be there! Rise, Wicked Shadow Dark Lurker!"

His monster appeared once again, towering over Luke.

100 —> 2600 ATK

2600 —> 100 DF

"A-ha!" Luke called out, confusing everyone.

"What's A-ha?" Gakuto asked and Luke crossed his arms. "I figured it out!" He said.

"Figured what out?" Kaizo asked. "He's been scaring me into looking behind me but in actuality, he was saying his own name! Very loudly though but still!" Luke replied.

"Oh......wait, that's what got you so scared?" Ushiro asked while the rest of the squad sweatdropped. "And he just figured that out?" Yusaku deadpanned with Yuga awkwardly chuckling.

"Well now that I know that you were just saying your name and I don't have to check over my shoulder anymore...," Luke trailed off before looking behind him again.

"Luke."

"Just checking," Luke laughed and Dragears could be heard sighing.

"Time to counterattack!" Luke then declared.

"I summon Dragon's Upsetter (ATK: 1000. DF: 0) and activate his effect which lets me special summon Dragon's Setupper (ATK: 0. DF: 1000) from my graveyard," he said and summoned up his two baseball playing dragons.

"Nice to see you up on your feet again, Coach!" Dragon's Setupper exclaimed while Dragon's Upsetter gave him a thumbs up which Luke returned.

He's communicating with his dragons, right? Yuga asked and Yusei nodded. Out loud he said, "if I remember correctly, due to Upsetter's effect, Luke can only attack with monsters that are level 6 or higher. I wonder how's Luke going to do that?"

Luke only grinned before setting a card on his field. "I summon Phoenix Dragon (ATK: 500. DF: 500) onto the field and activate its effect," he said, a fiery dragon appearing and letting out a screech.

"By sending a card from my hand to the graveyard, I can add a level 5 higher Dragon type monster from my graveyard to my hand," Luke continued, taking a card. He added, "I now release Upsetter and Setupper to Advance Summon!"

The two dragons cheered as they left the field. "All yours!" Setupper called out.

Luke began to chant, "Now, within my galaxy, the seven supernovas unleash a gamma-ray burst! Even if you tell me to stop, it's too late! Even if you tell me to stop, it's too late! There's a reason I said it twice. Now, come out! Rush Dragon Dragears!"

Dragears shot into the air, doing a tight spin before spreading his wings out, flexing his claws and roaring.

"Dragears is here!" Gakuto cheered, happily. He had let go of Kaizo and was jumping up and down, excitedly. "Hmm, what kind of plan does Luke have? Dragears doesn't have enough attack points to defeat Dark Lurker...not yet at least," Yuga wondered.

"You're right, Yuga! Because I'm not done yet! I release Phoenix Dragon to Advance Summon Justice Dragon (ATK: 1200. DF: 1200)!" Luke shouted and a blue dragon holding onto a trident and a shield appeared.

"At your service," Justice Dragon bowed. Luke gave him an acknowledging nod before saying, "I activate Justice Dragon's effect. By returning two dragons from my graveyard to my deck, I can now treat Justice Dragon as two tributes for a summon of a Dragon. And now I release him to Advance Summon."

Justice Dragon bowed once again before disappearing as Luke began to chant, "Listen and be surprised! Feel and tremble! It's already too late when you see it! Earth and heaven shattering shock and surprise! Now, come out! Shocklead Dragon (ATK: 1600. DF: 2500)!"

A shiny, red and silver dragon appeared and smacked its fists together that generated lightning from it.

"Sh-shock?!" Ushiro cried.

"And now I send the top card of my deck to activate Shocklead Dragon's effect! I can reduce the attack points of Dark Lurker to that of Dragears. Hyper Surprise Down!" Luke called out and Ushiro gasped as he saw his monster shuddered as its attack points fell.

2600 —> 100 ATK

"Next up is Dragears' effect. Gias Charge," Luke continued and the orbs on the dragon's body began to glow.

"Attack! Striking Light Bullet of Explosive Supremacy!" He commanded and Dragears slammed himself against Ushiro's second monster, destroying it.

"Now that Dragears has destroyed a monster in battle, he can now attack a second time but I think I'll have Shocklead have a turn. Attack! Transcendent Hyper-Astonishing Attack!" Luke commanded.

"Alright! I'm bringing in the thunder!" Shocklead shouted before deploying its fin and wings, slamming its fists to generate lightning. Using that, Shocklead punched out a fist wave of energy, engulfing Dark Lurker and destroying it under the bright light.

"No way!" Ushiro cried out, shielding his eyes from the brightness.

4000 —> 2500 LPS

"Now time for the finisher! Dragears, direct attack with Inferno of Unyielding Destruction!" Luke called out. "You got it!" Dragears nodded before the orbs began to glow orange and he shot out an orange energy wave towards Ushiro.

That blasted him back, knocking over the candles and extinguishing the flames. "Nooooooo!" He wailed, miserably.

2500 —> 0 LPS

WINNER: Luke

"That was a good match."

"Huh?" Ushiro looked up as Luke walked over to him. He held his hand out. "Ushiro, right? I won't forget it next time," Luke said with a smile.

Ushiro lifted his head up, revealing his silver eyes and took Luke's hand who helped him up. He had a large smile on his face.

That I can promise you, Luke thought, genuinely.

"Well, well, looks like Luke exceeded my expectations," Roa shrugged like what could you do.

Gakuto shakily held a hand to his chest. "That was a scary duel," he admitted. "Yeah but hey, that's one win to us," Yuga said, making a peace sign at him.

"It was an unexpected duel for sure," Yusei admitted and Yusaku just crossed his arms.

"Heh...but the next victory won't be that easy, I can assure you that!" Roa laughed and his fans went wild.

I don't like how he said that, Yuga thought and Yusaku narrowed his eyes at this. "Neither do I," he admitted as Roa was waving to the crowd before turning back to the squad with a smirk on his face.

Oh the little they realized, he thought and spotted Romin, who looked sad.
