26. Four Fifths
AN: I'm sad no one ever comments anymore 😭😭
Another arrest has been made in the case of Emily Adams. This time, it is a girl named Tina.
Debbie and Leslie have both named her as a co-conspirator in the murder of Emily.
These three arrests haunt the town. They wonder how many more will come.
Dylan however, is still distraught that Amy would joke about Emily like that.
He has called the police and gave an anonymous tip that Amy was involved. He does not care for her anymore after learning that she wanted to kill Emily and possibly followed through with it.
The police are on their way to her house right now to question her.
Dylan wishes he had read that entry earlier. If he had, he knows he would have never fallen for Amy and made the mistake of trusting her.
Dylan is crushed. He should have trusted Emily when she said she didn't like her. Emily knew she was bad news and he should have known that too.
Dylan leaves his room and grabs a banana from the kitchen to snack on while he watches the news his mom has on. Her eyes are glued to the screen.
"Amy is next." Dylan whispers as he sits down next to his mom on the couch.
"What?" She asks, not sure if she heard him right.
"I just have this gut feeling she was involved. Something happened today that just makes me realize how terrible she is." Dylan tries to explain without going into great detail. "I think she was involved."
"Honey-" Dylan holds his hand up.
"This isn't about me. It's about Emily." He stops her from comforting him about Amy.
She nods. "I'm proud of you." She rubs his back. Together, they watch the updates roll in about the big break in the case.
Meanwhile, Amy is arrested in her home and charged with murder. It will soon be revealed that this charge is not correct for Amy. She never killed Emily, she only came up with the plan on how to do it.
Four of the five people involved have been arrested. It is only a matter of time before one of the girls slips and names the last person involved.
Police are thrilled with how much progress they have made in this case in the last few days. It only took one little lead and it blew open the entire case.
They finally have justice for Emily. She can rest easy once all of her killers are behind bars.
Dylan sheds a single tear as they play a clip of Emily and her sister at a dance recital in middle school. He was there that day. She was so amazing.
Dylan stands. He needs to leave the room. He can't sit here and watch this any longer.
It hurts too much.
Dylan now realizes that he loves Emily. He realized too late unfortunately. Had he realized this while she was still alive, she might have never needed to write that diary in the first place. And maybe she would still be here for him to love today.
But that is in the past now. Dylan can't change what happened to Emily. He can only work to keep her memory alive. He can remember her and ensure that others do the same.
He won't let Emily die in their memories.
