Dance
When brief blows the wind
Leaves, living though hanging still
Dance to whispered songs
When calm hangs the air
Fallen leaves await the breeze
To lift them anew
As it is in life
We're carried by winds of Fate
Longing for the tune
This is my entry into week one of the PoetsPub 4th Annual Biggest Competition Ever. It's also the first Haiku I've ever written. I like to try new things, and had thought for a while about doing a collection of poems, so the competition was a great way to flex my poetic muscles, though my fiction has been described as poetic on many occasions - something I take as a huge complement.
I knew what Haiku was, but had to research more about it, to hopefully do the form justice. I'm delighted to say my poem came third place!
