Chapter Fourteen (Editing)

Vicky.

She resisted the urge to give a slow long hiss at the stick thin girl before her who had a nervous smile pasted on her face. The girl was weird, Vicky had to admit. Talking to them one day, ignoring them the next. For a while she had thought her responsible for Enoch's accident, but she knew who was now. And it definitely wasn't Tokunbo.
"I'm sorry, I just-" The stick thin girl cringed at her own words and Vicky sneered.
"You just?"
"Nothing. Nothing. But we need to talk."
Vicky almost laughed at her serious face. Almost.
"We? Girl, you and me have no business with each other-"
"It's about Elijah. He's not the one who did it." Tokunbo stated exasperatedly, rubbing a hand over her left brow.
For a moment Vicky stared at the latter. Few students stayed in the class for the break, so it was relatively quiet. Vicky glanced around before whispering
"Lower your voice. And tell me everything you know."
Tokunbo took her seat before her with an eyebrow raised.

She can raise a brow, cool.

"Will you tell me everything you know then?" She asked
Vicky hissed. The twerp had no idea what she was dealing with.
"There is nothing you need to know. This does not concern you."
Tokunbo rolled her eyes in response.
"How typical of you. Elijah said the same. You guys-"
"You saw Elijah? When?"
Victoria hated the smug look on the twerp's face. Those coffee brown eyes gleamed in mischief. Mischief that Vicky couldn't afford.
"If I tell, will you tell?" The skinny girl grinned.
"What is this? A five year old game?" Vicky gritted.
A sigh escaped Tokunbo's lips. She shifted in her chair.
"Yesterday. He was going to see Enoch. We talked. I found out he wasn't-"
"How? Elijah would never tell you something like that willingly. Did you knock him on the head or something? Because it usually works. Or kick him in the shin-"
"Wait a minute," the girl held up a hand her eyes narrowing, "You bullied him?"
Vicky winced. Those days were far behind her. Four years was enough time to feel guilty and move on.
"Eli told you he was bullied? Wow, next thing you know he tells you what his favorite underwear is." She hissed. "Look Tokunbo, speak if you will. If you will not, please leave. I have better things to sort out than listen to some skinny twerp."
The girl looked mighty uncomfortable then. She glanced at her feet then looked up at Vicky with new found determination.
"Victoria, either you accept it or not, I have somehow become involved in this situation. I know that Eli isn't responsible for what had happened to Enoch. And I know that you know or you would have been surprised when I told you it wasn't Eli. An innocent guy is on the line right now and we need to find a way to prove to my da- the police, that he is innocent-"
"This is a whole bigger matter than you think Tokunbo. Thank you for your sense of involvement, but you aren't welcome. Please keep your nose in your business, because whatever happens afterwards will be your fault and yours alone." Vicky grinded out. She rose from her chair. "You can't take the heat Tokun. We all have something to protect. Something to fight for. Do not poke a sleeping lion."
And with those words hanging in the air like high tension wires, Vicky made her way out of the class room. The hallway teemed with students laughing, giggling, trading insults. Citadel high was known for it's social activities. It was one of the things that had drawn her to the school when he'd stepped in it four years ago. She had loved the squad. The cheers. The field.
Vicky closed her eyes momentarily. The blue and yellow pom poms, the loud yells. Subconsciously she made her way to the school's foot ball field. It was almost stadium sized. She eyed the bleachers with yearning.
Four weeks after resuming at Citadel high, she had gotten accepted into the cheerleading squad. It had been heaven. It had been glorious. Screaming at the top of the lungs, choreographed dances and stunts, she had felt high. The Citadel High kind of high. Little had she known it would be the kind of high before a fall. What had been heaven turned into deep suffocating torture when it became known.
Vicky whipped around when she heard footsteps behind her and came face to face with the bane of her existence.
"Hello Sister."

Dun dun dun.
How's this chapter? I'm trying to figure how to let out what they hide slowly as the story goes on.

What do y'all suggest?
Also apologies for the typos. Autocorrect can be really annoying most times. I tried reading through. So if you see a typo, just comment on the typo so I can note what my eyes skipped and correct it. Thank you.
