Chapter 16
Sophie's POV
"Riley, time?" I asked, rushing to gather all of the things that I would need for a fun day with my big sister. "7:30. Don't worry, Soph. We've got plenty of time." I smiled and said, "Thanks, Ri. Where are we going?" "To the bank, and then to get gas," she said matter-of-factly. I rolled my eyes. "Smartass."
"Watch it," Riley warned, pointing the pen in her hand at me. I lifted my hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay." "Seriously though, where are we going?"
"I was thinking we could go to SkyZone first, and then maybe to the waterpark if your scars have healed?" I nodded. "After that, I was thinking the aquarium." "Then, after we do all that, I was thinking dinner at Bob Evans' and ice cream on the way home. I was planning on going to that place we love where you can look through the telescope and see all the stars for our ice cream." I smiled eagerly.
"If we have extra time, can we go to those pretty hiking trails we went to last time?" Riley nodded. "Yeah, sure."
We were just about to leave when we heard a knock at the door. Riley turned to me with a questioning look, and I shook my head. I had no idea who was at the door. Riley walked over to open it and silhouetted in the doorway stood our two best friends, Carter and Daniel.
They immediately swooped in as soon as the chain lock was slid by Riley. "What are you guys doing here?" Riley asked happily. "Actually, we wanted to see if you guys wanted to come do something with us," Daniel said, sidling up to Riley and tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
They're so cute.
They need to just date already.
"Well, actually, we're having a sister day," I spoke up. I opened my mouth to say more but the words died in my throat as Carter approached me.
"I know I leave you speechless, babe, but finish what you were going to say." I rolled my eyes at my very annoying best friend. "Bitch." "Jerk."
"Children!" Riley complained from her spot next to Daniel. "Civility, please." I smiled. "Sorry, Ri."
"So, about that sister day..." Carter prompted. I rolled my eyes, as did Riley. "Yes, you can come with us," she said, shaking her head in mock frustration. Carter grinned, slipping an arm around my shoulders subtly. Daniel sent him a pointed glare, and he smirked in response.
Riley reached for her car keys, but Daniel quickly plucked them from her hands. "Nope, I'm driving." She just smiled. He offered her his arm, which she quickly accepted. Carter followed his brother's lead with me, and I followed suit with my sister.
I sighed in content and leaned against Carter as we followed Daniel and Riley out.
Reese's POV
"I see you're a Supernatural fan," Ashley commented after a few moments of awkward silence. My eyes popped open. "You like Supernatural, too?!" "Of course!" she exclaimed. "It's only like, the best show ever!" "Yes!" I practically shouted, high-fiving her. "I finally found someone who's as much of a fan as me!" We laughed and hugged out of sheer excitement.
"So, who's your favorite?" I asked, starting to walk as she did towards the rooms. "I'd have to say Cas," Ashley said. "I love him so much and he's pretty much me in a nutshell." I laughed. "Same with me and Sam, my favorite. We're almost the same person."
"I fucking feel you."
"Ashley!" A deep voice from behind us boomed. "Where were you? You were supposed to be back ten minutes ago! And watch your mouth." She sighed, but I could tell it wasn't heartfelt, especially since her face had lit up when she caught sight of the black-haired boy striding towards us. I recognized him from the table as Harper.
"Sorry, Harp." Ashley turned back to me and asked, "Would you want to play 20 Questions or something? We can go back to your room." I nodded eagerly. I was interested in Ashley already, and I wanted to get to know her better. We both looked to Harper for confirmation.
"Please can I go?" Ashley begged him, slapping on her best puppy dog eyes. "Please can I go, Harp?" He smiled to himself in the way of a lovestruck teenage boy, and I had to pretend to cough in order to conceal a giggle.
Mr. Bad Boy getting all cute over a girl.
"Ugh, fine," Harper agreed. "But call me the minute you get there so I know you're safe and when you're ready to come home, call me or have Jared and Ashley walk you back. Do not wander the halls alone, Ashley Faith." She rolled her eyes. "Okay. I'll be fine, Harp." Harper smiled softly and said, "I know. See you back in the room, Ash." She waved as he turned and walked off in the opposite direction.
"Damn," I said, wolf-whistling as soon as Harper was gone. "Who was that hunk?" Ashley rolled her eyes and replied, "That so-called hunk is my overprotective, overbearing, slightly insane roommate, Harper Andrews." I laughed. "Why does that remind me of someone?" "Jared?" Ashley questioned. I nodded. "Eh, give him some time. He's pretty lenient and a real sweetheart. He'll still correct you, don't get me wrong, but he is very 'in touch with his emotions'. You'll like him." I smiled. "I already do."
