Chapter Six

I went back and spent the rest of the day working with Mey-Rin. We stopped by the kitchen around noon and went back to clean the halls. After that, we set the table for super and went to serve the young master his meal. We then quickly cleaned up his office before going down to the kitchen for supper.

When we got down there, Bard and Finnian were already eating their supper. Mey-Rin and I dished up and joined them.

"So, (Y/N), how was your first day?" Bard asked.

"It went by pretty quick," I replied. "I feel like I wasn't much help, though."

"That's nonsense. She was a huge help," Mey-Rin commented.

I watched Finnian make a face as he continued to eat his potatoes. Maybe I should just directly approach him, but Bard beat me to it.

"Everything alright Finny?" Bard asked.

"Me?" he questioned, looking up from his plate. "Yes, I'm fine."

"Okay...you just seem different since (Y/N) has come around," Bard commented.

So, I wasn't the only one to notice how hostile he had been. It's unsettling to know that it was my fault, though. I just met the guy a couple days ago. What does he have against me?

"Oh, I am fine. I apologize if I made a bad impression," Finnian said through a large smile.

It seemed forced, though, and judging by the questioning looks from Bard and Mey-Rin, I would be able to say that he is lying- but why? What was his problem with me?

Once we finished eating, everyone rinsed their dishes. I decided that I was just going to approach Finnian myself. If we both planned to here, this tension had to go away, so I quickly cleared my plate and went to catch up with him.

"Finnian," I called down the hall after him.

He turned around, looking uncomfortable, seeing it was only the two of us. "What is it?"

"I need to talk to you," I sternly said.
