Sophie rolled out of bed to the sound of Silveny transmitting SOPHIE SCHOOL! SOPHIE SCHOOL! over and over.

Okay, okay. She finally transmitted back, and Silveny went silent. After pulling on her red level five uniform, Sophie rushed downstairs to where the food was. She scarfed down the yellow glop that tasted like warm apple pie, gave Grady and Edaline each a kiss on the cheek, then bolted for the leapmaster.

"Foxfire!" Sophie yelled, and the crystals spun to life, casting a beam of light across the floor. She stepped into it and closed her eyes, letting the feathery feeling whisk her away.

When she opened her eyes again, there was purple grass underfoot and Foxfire's sprawling campus ahead. She ran for the massive building, not wanting to be late. In fact, Sophie wanted to be early. Because she knew someone was waiting for her just inside those doors. Someone she was dying to see.

Sophie stepped inside and looked around, and she felt her shoulders fall when they weren't anywhere in sight. Had they forgotten about her?

"Sophie! Over here!" A voice called. Sophie froze, then slowly turned around, a huge smile plastered on her face. So they didn't  forget!
