"I messed up."

"How did you mess up?"

"I ain't telling yer sorry ass."

"Now, that's just rude."

An early bright morning was not very fun nor appealing to the foreigner Japanese boy we know as Jin Takeshi who was sulking all day in his class with the lecturer staring right at him during the lecture.

Now, of course, our dear protagonist and idiot in all aspects of life certainly did not know what was going on because she had entered the class late and had no idea what was going on.

Huffing, Ellie leaned back against her chair and balanced her mechanical pencil at the space in between her mouth and her nose, puckering her lips comically as she took a glimpse at her seatmate.

Jin, sporting a white hoodie with no print, rolled his sleeves up to his elbows, showing the beaded bracelet he had on his wrist. He did not wear jeans however, and wore denim knee length pants which he paired with his usual sneakers, and his hair was cut short to a normal boy styled haircut with the fringe short and the hair on the back of neck cut really short compared to his usual shaggy hair.

They both had classes together, a combined class since Ellie was also majoring in Business for her cafe she was going to open and Jin who was going to work in a company which his father works in, hoping to take his place as the executive director.

Ellie glanced at Jin, her mind racing. It was weird for him to be so sullen and depressed, because usually he'll be flirting around with girls and to them he would be a bundle of joy.

He clicked perfectly with Ellie and her friends, although, Jess was a little uncomfortable around him due to his previous advances, the two were friends just fine. Axel was very welcoming and even shared a conversation with him that the two girls did not understand, because,

Guy talk.

The strawberry blonde girl sighed and wrote something on a piece of paper, the piece of paper being the crumpled up receipt she kept from the restaurant she went to by herself because Jess was at their dorms stuck with doing her research.

She scribbled down something, her lead of the mechanical pencil cracking due to how hard she was writing it because the marks won't show, and opted for a pen instead, dumping her mechanical pencil back in her grey pencil case.

Folding it nicely, she threw it hastily to her seatmate, who was trying so hard to stay awake during the lesson and noticed the piece of receipt paper by his arm.

He looked at Ellie who was typing away to jot down notes in her laptop and shrugged. He peered inside, opening it while still trying to listen to the professor.

'If you wanna talk about it, you can sit with us after this. We're having Subway.'

Jin took a look at, Ellie who had her eyes still fixated on the screen. He only took one second to look at her, but it was good enough since he already knew his answer, because they were friends after all.

"Also please study the material that I gave you today. It will come out for the test on the following week." The professor announced to the university students who were already packing up their stuff and leaving as fast as they can to either eat or study.

Ellie groaned and packed her things in her bag, and glanced at the Japanese boy beside her, pulling him up by the arm.

Ellie felt the corner of her lips curl up into a smile. "So are you coming or not?" She then took a closer inspection of his face, grinning as she said, "Judging from your face, I can tell you wanna come."

Jin sighed and stood up, his height towering over, Ellie. "Yeah, I'm comin'."

Grinning as she heard him say that, that both took off to meet Axel and Jess who was probably already there at Subway, ordering food since their classes ended a little earlier than theirs.

Walking out the campus, they both walk through a pathway which was made of stone but it was softer, which Ellie found weird. There were trees lining the pathway, all luscious with green leaves and beside the pathway, there was two rows of shops, following the direction towards the campus, hoping that the students will buy food from the shops near the campus.

They both walked for a while, indulging in idle chatter, ranging from pets to what was it like when Jin was back in his home country, Japan, but Ellie was proven wrong.

"Wait, wait." Ellie chuckled. "You're telling me you're not from Japan? But I heard you talking in Japanese, like, multiple times!"

The male merely shook his head, pointing to his mouth. "Are ya sure my accent is, Japanese worthy? Sure, I speak Japanese but I'm not from there ya know?"

Ellie frowned, trying to look for the shop as she was trying to think of a place where his accent was dominant.

Thinking hard, while her eyes was looking for, 'Subway', she blurted out an answer, not knowing if it was correct. "Are you from Germany or something?"

Jin grinned and laughed, his shoulders shaking up and down from his laughter. "Nope, not even close."

"Sweden?"

He looked at her with dead eyes. "Do I look like someone who's from Sweden."

She shrugged. "Your accent says the least."

And again. "France?"

He pursued his lips. "Close, but not close enough. It's a country yeah, but we speak both French and German. Sometimes English."

Jin sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Try again."

Ellie thought hard for a moment, the hardest she has ever thought to be honest with her small, pea sized brain only used for memorising recipes and phrases used for greeting customers. She never really used it well before.

Then it clicked.

"Switzerland?"

"...No."

"What?! It definitely was! You hesitated. Mr. Jin Takeshi, hesitated!" Ellie shrieked.

The male ignored her and huffed, looking for Subway since they've been walking for a long time, including guessing which country Jin was from before he got here.

He nudged, Ellie. "Hey, that's Subway. Let's go."

"Oh and by the way, I just got fired from my job, no big deal. And the fact that ya chose Subway is kinda shitty."

Ellie gasped. "Wait, you worked in Subway?"

He nodded, his long legs striding to the unhealthy 'sandwich' shop and sighed. "Yeah, that's why I said I messed up because I did somethin' that got me fired. And I was plannin' to tell ya after class because if I told ya in class I might've gotten my ass whooped, but I guess I can have free food at Subway."

Ellie realised something. Jin was about to tell her after class, since he couldn't in class that's why he said, 'I ain't tellin' yer sorry ass', and now she had given him a free chance at free food at the place he worked in.

She huffed and punched his shoulder hard, the male stumbling over from the impact as he giggled.

"Well it's not my fault. You wouldn't give me a chance to explain."

"I was being nICE."

Giving him a last punch on his solar plexus, causing the male to cough and grimace from the pain, she went in the shop without him, giving him the stink eye and the middle finger before joining with Axel and Rebecca at one of the tables.

Jin laughed shakily, about to go in himself, but he felt the cold stare of his ex-boss looking at him from the store. Looking in, he gulped and saw his ex-boss staring at him with cold eyes.

"Why do I always fuck up...?"
