"Wait, why do we need to go again?" Asked Jess, as she adjusted the strap over her shoulder uncomfortably and shifted her body weight to her right leg since her left knee was aching.

Ellie frowned, tugging on Jess's sleeveless top harshly, causing the other female to stumble upon the tug. Looking back at the shorter female, Jess sighed and crossed her arms, her eyes boring into the male in front of her.

Sighing, Ellie stuffed her hands in her pockets, something she does very often now as a force of habit. Sticking her tongue out and her friend while her back was turned, she kicked the small pebbles on the roadside withoutย  second thought.

Jess scratched her scalp, slightly itchy since she didn't wash her hair properly after a long day of uni and assignments that she had to stay up late to do, something she and Ellie did together.

"So we have to do this charity thing in these orphanages for?" Drawled Jess, untangling the locks of her brown hair lazily, struggling slightly due to her not brushing it in the morning due to the 'emergency'.

The male in front of her who was one of the seniors in their university, only being a year older than them huffed and handed her a piece of paper.

Once Ellie heard the sound of paper ruffling and crackling, she turned around and walked back to her roommate, quietly whistling and glancing at the paper.

Ellie raised her eyebrows. "So what deep shit have you got us in?" Ellie knew that Jess was no stranger to doing all sorts of trouble unintentionally since they both started university together.

Once out of curiosity she signed up for a baking class, but she didn't read that it costs $300 and Jess was broke for a whole week, although Ellie offered to lend her some money, her pride refused.

Then, during a exchange party arriving in their university coming from overseas offered them some pamphlets to go to their country for a full course. They wouldn't stop bugging Jess, who didn't care, and she signed it without even looking.

They had to go through a lot of trouble trying to get her out of the situation, but they ultimately succeeded.

Scratching her cheek, Ellie peered closer to look at the form that Jess had signed. It said to be a participation form to visit the orphanage and see the kids, playing with them on the way.

Ellie raised and eyebrow and scratched her neck, replying, "It doesn't seem to bad. We just gotta interact with them, right? I like kids so that should be fiiiiine." She said as she drawled on the 'fine'.

The three university students felt the mood dampen and they all looked to Jess who had a sullen expression, clenching her fist tightly until her knuckles turned white.

"I....hate kids."

Ellie felt her eyes flutter along with her thin eyelashes which were glossed with slight tears due to her crying helplessly before this because of her assignment that she suffered with for 2 hours.

The senior in front of them deadpanned, he mouth closed and pressed into a thin line, and his eyes looking soulless as he stared into Jess's warm brown ones.

He opened his mouth, chapped and dry. "You must be kidding." And, Jess really wasn't. She didn't like kids and felt they were too vulnerable to be taken care by adults, and she definitely hated the fact they will run around screaming their heads off and cry like it was the end of the world.

Jess looked to the side. "Haha," she let out a dry laugh, and Ellie was already worried, and although it wasn'tย  present on her face, she felt her mind racing already.

Wait, she doesn't like kids?

What're we supposed to do?

We can ditch!

But, Axel wouldn't be too happy if he finds out his girlfriend did that.

We can tell the senior that we can't go because we got plans!

But, the kids were already told we were going to go and I don't wanna see their sad faces!

I don't wanna even imagine them so sad and disappointed!

Ahhhhh, what're we gonna do?

The male senior scratched his head, flipping through the pieces of paper with a sullen expression on his face. "Well, I have to find someone else to do it then, sorry for disturbing you."

Ellie quickly went forward, her hair whipping past her, as Jess watched, her eyes widening reminding her of that time before they came to this campus. She felt the whole world stop and her heart momentarily halted, as the smaller yet braver girl stepped forward.

The strawberry blonde girl raised an arm in front of Jess and smiled apologetically. "I'm really sorry, but is there any way we can do to help them?"

The senior blinked, humming as he was deep in thought and flipped through the pages absentmindedly.

"Well, you can donate some goods to the kids o'er there." He said, placing a hand to his hip, his face still showing confusion and disappointment and the two girls, especially Jess who was fidgeting nervously.

Ellie smiled and turned behind to face Jess. "Then, let's get going!" She pulled Jess along, ignoring her surprised gasp to their dorm, and their senior looking at them as they walked back.

Arriving back at the dorm, Ellie threw the keys hastily and kicked off her shoes, sending them flying to her bed. Jess placed her bag down on her white chair, and groaned at the girl who was throwing out all of their stuff on the floor, searching for something.

The auburn haired girl sighed and picked up her shoes and set it down out their shoe rack nicely, along with her silvery high heeled shoes that was below her desk that she used for partying.ย

Walking over to her bed to take a seat, she patted the covers and plopped down next to her, eyeing her roommate who was making a mess from the room.

"You better clean it all up, you know?" Jess said, taking a glance at the girl, before mirroring her actions to find things to donate to the orphans. "I don't wanna be your cleaning lady for what? The past 4 years?"

Ellie snickered and pulled out a cardboard box, placing some thing inside, stacking them up nicely so her roommate won't make a fuss about it.

Stacking her old storybooks that she had when she moved in to the dorms, she giggled and pulled out one from her shelf, tracing over the cover.ย

"The Little Prince, man, I'm gonna miss this book." Said Ellie, placing the book along with the others and handed the box to Jess.

Jess eyed the box and saw a few other storybooks she had wanted to give to them, along with some other miscellaneous things.ย

She picked out a music box from inside and hummed. "Your old music box?"

"Yeah, I've been having it for ages. Better off give it away."ย

Jess placed it back in the box and packed some other things that Jess also wanted to give away, some of her old mugs that were princess themed and a pair of trousers that she bought because she thought it was cute.

Squinting, Ellie brushed a hair back to take a closer look. "Hey, those trousers that you bought. What was it for?"

Jess folded it and closed her eyes, taking a big sigh through her nose and laid it on top of the stack of books. "It was just because I thought it was cute, nothing more."

Snorting, Ellie continued placing back the things she threw on the ground to their original spot. She stood up with a groan, feeling her back cracking a bit.

Ellie patted her hands on her pants, and glanced at Jess who was almost finished tidying up the place. Jess then placed back the last of her things and sealed the box, standing up from her bed.

Jess handed the box to her friend, smiling lightly. Ellie complied and gave a huff, steadying her grip on the heavy box that she carried with slight difficulty.ย

She wore her shoes without her hands, slipping them on, while Jess went and grab the keys from Ellie's bed and fastened the knots on her shoelaces.

Looking up at Ellie, Jess stood up and felt her eyes crinkle as she smiled.

"You're a good person, Ellie."

Jess opened the door, allowing Ellie to step outside.

"Hmm." Ellie hummed as her answer, strolling down the hallway to the elevator to meet the waiting university senior downstairs, as Jess locked the door, following suite.ย
