waverly was born into a family of loud voices. growing up, she'd always felt the need to be one that takes charge of situations and speaks up for herself. however, naturally, that isn't who waverly is. she puts up the confident, red-lipped and loudly spoken girl facade merely for the sake of maintaining her family's name. in reality, she's a soft, gentle person who simply wishes to appease the expectations of her family. now, her family isn't overly obsessed with their image, though. all of this is who waverly is. she's a people pleaser. she loves taking charge of what she wants to do, but often finds herself incapable.

waverly is the type of girl who collects old books. her family certainly has the money for her to have shelves filled with brand new, never used books, but that isn't what she likes. she loves older things and will often find herself curled up in the dark with a blanket, a candle burning for minimal light as she reads.

waverly also has a big heart. not many expect that from a cardend, but it certainly stands true for waverly. if she sees someone in need, she wants to do everything she can to help them. when she lets someone in, she's incredibly loyal and will do just about whatever it takes to see them smile. she takes pride in randomly gifting her friends and surprising them each year on their birthdays. but, as for the rest, everyone will simply have to figure it out.

max owns a majority of the town, running almost each and every business whether people realise it or not. his father was previously the mayor, though max never had the desire to take on the role. however, his best friend is currently the mayor.

you might hear atlas cardend referred to a lot as the "cardend golden boy" because that's what everyone believes him to be. he's intelligent, a great leader, and the kind-hearted soul that you would expect to come with such a title. atlas is well aware of his image and he hates it. because of who his family is, he's expected to be the best and come out on top. the cardends have always had some sort of need to be the best out of everyone. perhaps that came with them founding cardend or maybe it was something else, either way, that's the way their family is. now, atlas isn't expected to be perfect, but he is expected to be the best. his stepmother has a competitive drive that most would expect him to have, though atlas hides that as best as possible. he'll do anything to be what his family needs, which is exactly what is leading him away from cardend. he needs to feel free to not be one of cardend's golden boys anymore.

atlas isn't this picture-perfect golden boy, though. he might be intelligent. he might be kind-hearted. he might be a great leader. but, he's more than most would expect. trouble seems to follow atlas everywhere he turns and he can never seem to resist getting into it. whether it be a person who's completely wrong for him or a thrill-seeking adventure, atlas seems to need it. the trouble that follows him isn't unwelcomed by him. in fact, if it didn't seek him out, atlas would seek it out. often times, his playful demeanor and lack of seeing the entire picture can get him into trouble, but it also happens to be that he has a rather reckless sort of ambition to live out.

when you get to know atlas, you expect some sort of loud, life of the party sort of person. in reality, while he likes to have fun, he tends to be a bit more quiet. he'll be there to listen to you, but he isn't near as controlling as people expect.

vana is one of the most well known people in cardend. even before she was married to maddox, she was arguably the most famous actress/model. she has high expectations for both of her children and even for the town. though, admittedly, it's obvious that a majority of her pride goes to atlas. despite the countless organisations that waverly has led or founded, atlas has always been her golden boy, whether or not he's her own son. vana tries to be a family oriented woman, but she can't help her habits of picking favourites. waverly and her don't speak often. occasional attempts are made and they'll be on the covers of magazines getting their nails and hair down together. neither of them talk about the obvious lack of communication and bond and it's never seemed to bother either of them.

everyone views vanadey with a high amount of respect. she made herself out of nothing and the tabloids eat it up. girls everywhere seem to look up to her and even other women.

trystan is known as someone who is too-sweet for his own good. he has one of the warmest hearts of anyone you'll ever meet and it's shown from the first time you meet him. though, some take this to be his weakness. being soft, especially for a man, makes him seem fragile in a way that he despises. he hates the image that people have of him and it just so happens to be one of the few things that he hates. trystan's heart has always been too pure for much hatred.

trystan isn't exactly an open person, though. for as nice and playful as he is, he doesn't share much about himself and isn't found of the idea of being open. something about it makes him feel uncomfortable and weak and he can't stand it. however, if you ever need someone to talk to or rant to or even seek advice from, trystan is the sort of guy to go to. he's an incredibly good listener.

zander has a very young soul. he's the
sort of person looking to give everyone a good time and always wants to make the most of every moment. ever since he was young, he dreaded growing up. he may have been mature for his age, but he didn't want to have to accept the responsibilities that came with growing up. he didn't want to have to accept that it might mean his days of thrill-seeking were over.

no one sees it at first, given zander is usually diving head-first into danger simply for the thrill, but he actually happens to be fairly mature. he can have deep conversations and meaningful relationships. he simply doesn't want it to get in the way of what he wants. he's a level-headed man when it comes to matters of the mind and heart, whether or not he's reckless enough to always be throwing himself into danger. it's an odd balance, but one that's undeniably who zander is.

the man also happens to be a romantic. when it comes to the heart, his friends always seem to know to go to him. and, when zander cares about someone, they get his whole heart and nothing less.

at the age of sixteen, zander ran away from home. no one heard from him for years until he finally seemed to get his mind together and apply to college. he currently goes to cardend's physiological studies university and is a psychology major. anyone who knew him before would be shocked that zander chose to major in such a thing, but he refuses to answer any questions surrounding the topic. anything and everything that happened during the time of his disappearance stays known to him and he refuses to share.
