Amanda and Kili walked their horses through the shire. They were shot many stares as they walked through the peaceful little place. The sun was setting as it was almost five in the evening.

"It has been so long since we were here. It's still as peaceful and beautiful as it was." Amanda said as they walked up a hill. They stopped in front of a round green door, the lights were on inside and smoke coming from the chimney. They tied their ponies to the fence and walked up to the door. They looked to each other an knocked.

" Who could that be? It's dinner time! Who ever it is, it better be good..." The door opened to reveal a small grey haired hobbit. He looked to them both stunned.

" Hope we not too late?" Amanda said with a smile.

" Too late for what?" The hobbit asked surprised at the pair standing in front of his house. He could not believe what he was seeing.

" For dinner of course." Kili said stepping into the house, Amanda instantly hugged the old hobbit smiling happily.

" It's been a very long time my old friend." Amanda said happily as she pulled back from their embrace.

" Yes yes! Indeed it has! Come come! Dinner is nearly ready!" Bilbo said happily ushering them through to the old dinning room a young hobbit with brown curly hair looked up at them.

" Uncle? Who are These?" He asked standing up from the table.

" Frodo! These are old friends of mine. Set up two more places for dinner." Bilbo said as he played up dinner. Amanda and Kili sat down at their places and thanked Bilbo as the began eating their dinner. Kili went to pick up the chicken with his hands like he would normally eat back in Erebor. But Amanda slapped his hand to stop him, she sent him a glare as Kili got what she meant and pick up the cutlery.

" So do tell how things are in the mountain." Bilbo said looking to them both with a smile.

" Everything is wonderful, Thorin stepped down as king to be with Fiona when she fell pregnant with their child. They moved into a house Thorin built within Mirkwood. But a few months back they just disappeared and I believe that they were taken back to my world." Amanda said falling into silence. But she sighed and shook her shoulders.

" I see. And how is the married life?" Bilbo asked them with a smile.

" Joyful. Fili took up the throne and became king, making Kili here crown prince of Erebor." Amanda smiled proudly placing a hand on his lap. Frodo seemed to choke on his food at the crown prince part being here.

" Meaning you are Prince Kili of Erebor?" Frodo asked amazed with a smile.

" Yes and right here is my princess, Amanda the Phoenix spirit." Kili smiled looking to Amanda proudly. They smiled to each other.

" This is amazing, royalty in our house!" Frodo said with a smiled laughing.

" Yes, yes. Now eat up." Bilbo said scolding Frodo. Which worked quickly.

" I wished Kilian was that easy back when he was that age." Amanda smirked and Kili laughed loudly.

" Kilian?" Bilbo asked them.

" You never heard did you?" Kili asked with a proud smile, Bilbo shook his head.

" Kili and I have two children. Kilian who is thirty one and Dalila who is ten years old." Amanda smiled to him.

" Ah! Congratulations! I bet Kilian is as handsome as his father and Dalila as beautiful as her mother!" Bilbo smiled to them. Everyone laughed and then night was full of stories and tales of the times back when they travelled. The night went on and Amanda decided to go to bed, Bilbo showed them to their room and they lay onto the bed. Amanda quickly fell asleep in Kili's arms enjoying his heat.

Kili awoke the next morning as the sun drifted gently through the small round window. The sound of the bird singing happily and the sound of people outside enjoying life. Kili smiled taking in a deep breath to wake himself up. He stretched slightly and looked down to his wife sleeping on his chest. He smiled and kissed her head softly.

" Good morning, my star." Kili said but Amanda still slept. Kili chuckled with a smiled.

" Come on, time to get up." He whispered to her, he shifted slightly in a way that always woke her softly. But she never stirred at all. His brow fused in confusion.

" Amanda?" Kili asked growing worried and he moved her so her head was on the pillow and her could look at her. He placed a hand on her cheek and it was burning hot, her face looked pained and pale.

" Amanda?" He asked worried, he gently shook her trying to wake her up.

" Amanda! Come on wake up!" Kili called out loudly someone must have heard because they knocked in the door.

" Kili? Is everything alright?" Bilbos voice sounded from the other side. Kili looked to the door.

" Bilbo! Quickly call a doctor!" Kili called and the door burst opened.

" What is the matter?" He asked coming over to them and placing a hand on Amanda's forehead.

" She is burning up and deathly pale." Bilbo said as Frodo stood in the door.

" Frodo quick! Fetch the doctor!" Bilbo ordered him and Frodo ran off. Kili sat next to her on the bed with his hand on her forehead. Bilbo rushed off and arrived back not much later with a small bowl of water and a clothe. He placed the cool damp clothe onto her forehead and looked to Kili.

" Keep dabbing her forehead, it will help with the temperature." He said as he disappeared again. Kili looked down to Amanda with a concerned look.

" I love you. You will be alright." Kili whispered to her sweet nothings knowing that if she could hear him she would need them. Just then Bilbo, Frodo and an unknown hobbit rushed in. The doctor stepped forward and check her temperature along with everything else. When he finished his face scrunched up.

" Well? What's wrong with her?" Kili asked him.

" I have never seen anything like it. She is boiling hot yet there is no colour too her face. Her breathing is shallow and her heart beating is racing. They all contrast with each other." The doctor said with no knowledge about her illness.

" I don't know what is wrong with her!" He said finally. Kili though for a while before an idea popped into his head.

" is she safe to travel?" Kili asked the doctor. But he shock his head.

" I would not risk it." He said and Kili nodded jumping out of his bed. He quickly pulled on his jacket and boots while he strapped his belt to his waist.

" Bilbo can you watch her, I think I may know someone who can help." Kili said walked to the door and up to his pony that had taken residence in Bilbos garden.

" who?" Bilbo asked him.

" Lord Elrond." Kili said lifting himself onto his pony and settling himself.

" I will be back in four days hopefully quicker." Kili said to the old hobbit.

"She will be looked after here, ride swift and be safe." Bilbo said to his friend as Kili disappeared in a fast gallop. Kili rode as fast as he could and never stopped to rest. He went on for a day and half a night until he finally made it to Rivendell. He pulled his horse to a stop and looked at the stairs as an elf walked down them.

" Prince Kili? What busin..." The elf began but Kili cut him off.

" where is Lord Elrond! I have an urgent matter I must speak to him about." Kili shouted at him jumping from his pony.

" The Lord Elrond in busy in a meeting." The elf said as Kili pushed past him quickly.

" This take priority!" Kili yelled as he ran through the house trying to find Elrond. He found Elrond and Gandalf talking to each other around a table.

" Lord Elrond! Gandalf." Kili called rushing over to them. They looked to him with a smile but it quickly fade when they saw his distress.

" You must help." Kili asked out of breath. Gandalf stood as Elrond rushed over to him.

" What is the matter?" Elrond asked him.

" It's Amanda. She fell ill in the shire. She is burning hot and deathly cold. She has shallow breathing and a fast heart beat. The doctor has not seen anything like it." Kili said to him.

" Where is she?" Elrond said with urgency.

" She was not fit to ride, so she is still in the shire with Bilbo." Kili informed him. Elrond placed a hand onto his shoulder.

" We will leave at first light tomorrow morning." Elrond said but Kili shook his head.

" No we must go now, I have a very bad feeling." Kili said pleadingly to the tall elf and wizard. They looked to each other and nodded.

" Very well." Elrond said as he ordered elves to prepare the horses.

" Lord Elrond! I wish to write a letter, explaining things to everyone back at Erebor. If I do this can you have a rider send it?" Kili asked Elrond.

" Of course." Elrond said and turned to a guard.

" Make sure he has what he needs." Elrond told the elf who nodded and led Kili through to a room. The elf handed Kili a quill and ink with a piece of paper.

' Brother,

I write to you to inform you of bad news. Amanda has contracted an illness and we do not know what, I have enlisted the help of Lord Elrond in this matter and with hope, she will be better soon enough.

This letter is short due to the time I have, but please let the children know we love them dearly. I will write again as soon as I can.
