Chapter 5: Help

" Father, I am growing worried for Mother. She has not been the same since Thorin, Fiona and Annkia disappeared months ago." Kilian spoke to his Father and Fili in the Kings room. This was a smallish room with a large rectangle table in the middle with chairs.

" She has locked herself in the room. All she does is look out the window, all day. She barely eats, the only time she does is when you make her." Kilian continued as Fili places his hand onto the table in front of him.

" I am worrying to Kili. It has indeed been four months since they went missing and she has not talked to anyone." Fili said lowly as they tried to figure out what they could do to make things better. Then Kili had an idea and a small smile of hope spread upon his face.

" I don't know what to do." Fili sighed in defeat.

" I think I may know someone who could help." Kili said looking to his brother and then his son.

" Send word out that Gandalf the grey is needed immediately in Erebor." Kili said to his brother. Fili light up in hope as he knew if anyone could help, it would be the grey wizard.

" Who is Gandalf?" Kilian asked his family confused by this man that could in stall hope in the worst situation.

" He his a wizard that knows almost everything." Kili smiled to his son.

" And doesn't he know it." Fili said laughing gently. Fili them quickly ordered the message to be sent to all corners of Middle Earth. Word soon spread the Gandalf was need in Erebor and when it finally reached him he was in Rivendell visiting the Lord Elrond.

" Mithrandil. News has spread from Erebor. The dwarves are in need of your help. They say that the Lady Amanda is sick." An elf said walking up to him and the Lord Elrond. They looked to each other as Gandalf nodded.

" I think this may have to do with the disappearance of Thorin and his family." Gandalf said as he collected his hat.

"I will join you. My healing services my be of help." Elrond told Gandalf.

" Are you sure? It's along ways to the mountain." Gandalf said to him.

" Now Gandalf. I would love nothing more than to see my old friends under the mountain." Elrond said as he went to change into his armour. It was not long before the pair were off and way riding towards Erebor. It took only one week and three days too reach the city of Dale. The city was full of somber as they trotted through the streets, they left Dale and rushed to the doors of Erebor. Fili walked up to the door with Kili and Kilian by his sides.

" Ah I send for one and I get two experts. I am so glad you have come." Fili said shaking the hands of his friends.

" King Fili, Kili. And this is?" Elrond said looking to Kilian. Kili walked over to his son and smiled, he placed an arm around his shoulder and looked at him with with pride. Then back to Elrond.

" Lord Elrond, I would like you too meet the second Prince of Erebor. Kilian, Amanda and I's son." Kili said with a smile which soon fell as he remembered about his wife.

"Well, I can see the resemblance. Greetings Prince Kilian. I am Lord Elrond of the hidden valley of Imladris." Elrond said bowing in respect. Kilian bowed as well.

" Pleasure is mine." He said. Just then footsteps could be heard rushing towards them, Elrond's eyes fell onto a small dwarf girl running up to them. She ran up and latched herself to Kili and Kilians legs looking through their hip. Kili smiled and pulled her in front of him.

" And who might this fair maiden be?" Elrond asked with a smile. Gandalf chuckled as the young girls likeness to Amanda, her mother.

"This is our daughter. Dalila." Kili said looking down as her as his hands held her shoulder softly.

"Dalila!" Bofur cried as he ran out from the halls behind the doors. He stopped and bent over huffy out of breath. He pointed to her above his bent head and stood up straight. He placed his hands onto his hips and sighed.

" Not as young as I used to be." He said out of breath. Kili smiled to him and pushed Dalila along towards him.

" Sorry about that, she just took off! Fast one she is, just like her mother. Gandalf! So nice to see you and Lord Elrond too! Anyway must be off." Bofur said with a wink and led Dalila off, he began giving her a telling off for running away. Gandalf laughed as well as Elrond.

" He's still himself I see." Gandalf chuckled lowly to him but his face turned serious.

" Now why are we here?" Gandalf asked the dwarves before this. Fili lead them into Erebor and through to the Kings room. They all stand at the table as they told the story of how Thranduil came and informed them that Thorin had disappeared.

" When Amanda arrived back after she had been to the house she locked herself in our room. For days she would not even let me in." Kili said as he remembered when he had to force his way into the room.

" Got to the point where had to break down to door, when we did. Amanda was laying on the floor, pale white and skin and bones. She has not spoken and she barely eats. We had to build a door that cannot be locked for she would just lock herself in again." Fili said the rest of the story as Kili was unable to do so.

" We were hoping that maybe you could help. My mother is slowly killing herself." Kilian said as his voice cracked. Elrond looked at him and nodded.

" On our way here we stopped at the house." Elrond informed them.

" I believe that what brought both her and Fiona here, took Fiona, Thorin and their child back to her homeland." Gandalf said as he lent forward in his seat.

" So they is not in middle earth anymore." Fili said to himself as she sighed.

" I hope that this news will not harm my wife any furthur." Kili said to everyone as he stood up and walked to the door.

" why don't you let me and Elrond talk to her. Hmm, different faces might help the matter." Gandalf said stopping Kili from leaving. Kili looked up to Gandalf and nodded, trusting the wizard. Gandalf stood up and walked out the door followed by Elrond who, when he past Kili, placed a hand on his shoulder reassuringly. They left and walked up to Kili and Amanda's room. They knocked on the door and waited. When their was no answer Gandalf opened the door and walked in with Elrond behind him.

" Amanda." Gandalf said as he looked at her, she stood at the window looking down out the window that was edged into the mountain side upon her request after she married Kili. She wore a white dress that had a gold band just under her chest the sleeves fell to the floor. Elrond recognised the dress as the one he gifted to her when she married. It was of elvish silk and lace. When she wore it first, she filled the dress perfectly, he now it hung from her thinning frame. Her once shinning brown hair was dull and lifeless.

" How are you feeling?" Elrond asked stepping forward gingerly. She never moved or made an attempt to look them.

" Amanda, please. Everyone is worrying about you. Your children need their mother. You husband needs his wife." Gandalf said stepping forward hoping to get her to speak. That hope did not work as she continued to stare out over Dale.

" Amanda, you are the Phoenix spirit. This world needs you. Your children need you. You cannot allow you daughter to grow up with no mother!" Elrond half yelled at her as he stepped forwards several brave steps. But there was no reaction from her. Elrond turned around and walked to the door annoyed at her.

" I look upon the city of Dale, expecting them to appear from the city smiling and laughing." Amanda chocked out. Her voice harsh as she has not used it months. Elrond stopped and turned to Amanda.

" Can you not see what you are doing?" Elrond said turning back around and walking over to her. He stopped in front of her as she turned her head and looked at him. Her brown eyes were almost lifeless, her face thin to the bone and her once fair tanned skin pale and white. She was not the woman Elrond saw all those years ago.

" What have you done, My friend?" Elrond asked sadly as he lifted a hand up to her face. He placed a ginger hand onto her cheek.

" She is gone." She cracked as she fell into his arms, letting out her sorrowful cried she has held for so long. Elrond held the small lady in his arms as she held her close for comfort.

" She is gone, but she is safe." Elrond hushed her gently as she cried into his chest. She was truly heartbroken by the sudden lose of her closet friends. Both Elrond and Gandalf knew that she may not fully heal from such events. But right now the best anyone can do is never to leave her alone.
