Chapter 14: I Have Too
Amanda snuck through the halls as everyone slept silently, leaving the mountain in an eerie silence. She wore her battle cloths, something she has been doing a lot over the past year. She weapons strapped to her, the twin swords hung gently on her hips with her bow in hand. Her quiver full of arrows was strapped to her back as she looked down the halls checking them, before she rushed down to the stables. She rushed in and quickly grabbed a saddle and placed it onto a white horse. She trapped it up quickly and put the reins on the horses head. She check she had her pouch of money and lead her horse out its stall.
" And where do you think you are going?" Bofur asked her standing leaning against the door to the stables.
" I saw you sneaking around the halls in you battle cloths." Bofur then explained pushing off and walking over to her.
" Bofur, I saw a flash of light in the south, just like the one I saw when Fiona and I arrived here. I think she may be back, Bofur I have to go." Amanda said walking forward with her horse.
" So you planned on going alone, in lands that are infested by orcs. While pregnant?" Bofur spoke to her making Amanda stop and place a hand on her small bump.
" Bofur, I have to go." Amanda said pleadingly to him.
" Bofur if there is any chance she is back. I have to go and find her." Amanda said with tears forming in her eyes. Bofur looked to her and sighed.
" There never has been any winning with you has there?" He muttered as he reached for a saddle and placed it onto another horse.
" What are you doing?" Amanda asked him confused to his actions.
" Well if I can't stop you, I will just have to come with you." Bofur said taking the reins of his brown horse.
" Bofur, you don't have too. Look you are not as young as you once were." Amanda said to him.
" Yes that may be true, but. Just like you, I miss Fiona. And if there is a chance, I will take it." Bofur said with a smile, Amanda nodded and they jumped onto their horses and trotted out of the stables and off towards the south.
The next morning, the sun rose over the mountain. Allowing the crisp golden light to flood into Kili's room. He sighed and rolled over reaching for his wife. Only to find her space empty.
" Someone is up early. " he muttered as he flung his feet of the bed and onto the ground. He stood up and walked over to the washroom the was connected to their room. He washed himself and waked back into the bedroom rubbing down his face with a towel. It was then he notice on his desk a small envelope. He walked over and picked it up. Amanda's delicate handwriting was written upon the paper. It was his name and he gave a gentle smile as he opened it.
' My dearest husband.
I know you worry for me and I know that this note will upset you. But I have gone south in search for Fiona, I left just after you had fallen into sleep.
I promise you that I will be safe for both me and our unborn. I should be back within two to three weeks.
I love you with all my heart.
Amanda' Kili stood still for a moment before his brain started to work once again. He took to his feet and rushed out his room, his towel fell to the floor as he whipped around corners.
" Brother? What is the matter?" Fili asked as Kili throw open his brother bedroom doors. Fili rushed over to his brother placing his hands onto him. Kili was unable to breath from both the shock of the letter and all the running he had done. Kili just handed him the letter from Amanda.
" Kili." Fili said as he handed back the letter and rushed over to where his crown and cloak where. He grabbed them and pulled them on along with his boots and sword. He rushed over too Kili and pulled him up straight.
" Go and retrieve you things. We leave in one hour." Fili told him as Kili ran off without a second. Fili rushed throw the halls while fixing his cloths.
" Get the horses ready and tell 10 of our best fighters to ready themselves!" Fili called out to the dwarves. Kilian came rushing through wondering what all the commotion was.
" Uncle Fili? What is all the commotion?" Kilian asked as he rushed over to his frantic uncle.
" Kilian, I need you to step up. Your mother has ran off South. Your father and I are going out to bring her home. So I need you to take care of this place while we are away." Fili said with his hands on Kilian's shoulders. Kilian could only nodded his head to agree. Fili smiled and nodded as he turned around and headed back to the stables.
It did not take too long before Fili and ten other dwarven warriors were all saddled up and sitting upon their horses. Kili walked to his son and looked at him.
" Take care of things here, son. We will bring back your mother safe and well." Kili smiled placing a hand onto his son's cheek and his fore head against his. Kilian just broke and pulled his father into a tight hug.
" Please, bring her home father." Kilian spoke with a cracking voice. Kili patted his back before stepping back.
" I promise you." Kili said before turning and walking to his horse.
" Bofur's horse is missing and he is nowhere to be seen." Kili said as he lifted himself onto the saddle.
" He probably tried to stop her, but Amanda is stubborn. Bofur most likely is accompanying her." Fili muffled as Kili nodded. Kili looked to his son and smiled to reassure him.
" We will be back soon." Kili said before he and Fili lead the small company of dwarves to find Amanda.
