||Chapter 32 - Visit||
Thank you MagLoopy for the awesome Fan Art of Lea in her Coronation Outfit! LOOK AT THE FREAKEN CROWN IT LOOKS SO COOL GAHHHHHH!!! I may and may not have fangirled like I was an 8 years old girl who saw Zuko in his Coronation Outfit when the episode on Nickelodeon first came out XD. Enjoy the chapter!
Lea's POV
It was about an hour into the official start of the coronation, the smell of many different types of foods being displayed on buffet tables, along with a variety of drinks, waiters walking around holding snacks and alcohol for the older men and women. Cheerful music filling the air, dancing, chatting with officials and friends. I sat down on one of the chairs, my legs crossed and hands folded on my lap as I watched everyone from different nations come together happily, no feuds or battles occurring, just continuous joy. I sighed in content, leaning back in my semi-comfortable seat, watching my brother converse himself with Mai's Father who once was the Governor of Omashu for a small period of time during the war before King Bumi took it back. Speak of the Crazy King and he shall appear
"It's a lovely night out ain't it, Princess Lea?" King Bumi asked me, sitting himself in a chair next to me. I nodded before smiling over at the king
"Yes it is, I'm even quite surprised that everyone is getting along so well, sober or not." I informed him truthfully, sending a small smile towards the jennamite loving King (I actually had to look up to see how to correctly spell the rock candy Bumi loves so dang much XD). King Bumi cackled , throwing his head back while his shoulders shook in laughter
"Very true, Princess. But I have noticed something about you, you don't seem as joyful as the rest of us are." I sighed in defeat, knowing that my glum mood was basically radiating off of me, noticeable enough that even a crazy king would notice
"Yeah, I mean I am happy that the war is over but then again, I kinda miss the war. I think it's because of the lifestyle I have grown accustom to in Ba Sing Se, steal from the rich to feed the poor, save people from going on the front lines on the battlefield against their will, that has been my lifestyle for so long, it made feel like I was actually being useful, that I was making a purpose. Have you ever felt that way before King Bumi?" I asked him, revealing my feelings to someone I just met easily. King Bumi thought for a moment, before nodding, staring at Aang from a far
"When I heard the news of the Air Temples being wiped out, finding out that my best friend was dead, no longer on this earth, I felt the same way but in a different scenario than yours. I felt angry at the Fire Nation, at the Fire Lord, the soldiers, and it's people. I drove myself to the point of when I became so powerful I was appointed the role as King of Omashu, defending my city for years and years to point of when that became my own lifestyles, but after I was asked to become part of The White Lotus by your Uncle Iroh, slowly my lifestyles of vengeance became distant, the only thing that became on my mind was the happiness of my people, what I could do and become to help end this war once and for all. When your first lifestyles, or second lifestyle is over, you start anew, it just takes a while to find it. Only you can find your true purpose in life Princess Lea." I stared at the crazy but wise King in shock, unable to muster up the correct words to reply to his story. King Bumi chuckled at the expression plastered on my face, finding my shocked features amusing
"Pretty wise huh? Well that's what old age does to you, even when you have been through so much that you learn from your mistakes and others mistakes." I nodded, closing my mouth, knowing exactly what he was talking about
"Like Aang and my brother, they have been through alot in their lifetime, made many mistakes, and declared to never repeat them. Then again, I think everyone in this generation has been through alot, so when new generations come rolling in, we can teach them to not make the same mistakes that we did, guide through the darkness into the light." King Bumi nodded in agreement, standing up once a official called him over
"It has been lovely chatting with you, Princess Lea. But it's time for me to speak with Earth Kingdom Officials about important matters." I nodded, standing up from my seat. We bowed at each other in respect before he walked over to the official. After standing there like a dumb duck for a few moments, Zuko walked over to me, a serious expression on his features
"Lea, can I speak with you for a moment in private." Zuko told me, not in a form of a question, more like a demand. I nodded and followed after him to a secluded spot before speaking in hush tones
"Is something wrong?" I asked my older brother, worried if something bad happened. He shook his head, having me sigh in relief
"But, Father-"
"Ozai." I hissed and he sighed at my antic before continuing
"Ozai started speaking rubbish, calling out names and battle strategies like a mad man earlier today. I was just informed about this information. The guards are requesting for us to go and see him to hear the sentences he has been speaking repeatedly and maybe even talk to him if we can." I nodded, knowing for a fact that being alone in a cold isolated room with no power or strength whatsoever can drive a person mad. It drove Azula mad, but instead of being isolated in a room, she was being isolated in her own mind and thoughts
"Should we go right now?" I asked him and he nodded
"It will be better to do this now rather than later, I already told Aang about the situation and told him if anyone asks about where we are, make up a random excuse that sounds believable."
"Okay."
(Time Skip)
We walked into the Royal Prison, passing by many guards who stood on duty, solid as stone, ready for any mischief. We passed by empty cells that once held the Fire Sages that were thrown in jail for helping Aang and the others, some of the cells still being occupied by others who have done wrong in the past, either it being stealing or murder. We went through a series of impact doors until we got to where Ozai was being held. He was slumped up against the wall, long black hair dangling in his face with chains around his ankles and and wrists, wearing tattered prison clothing that was stained from constantly trying to escape the cell, dried blood was even noticeable on the cold stone ground. The Main Guard on duty of watching over him bowed to us before opening the cell door, leaving us with him alone, knowing we were more than capable of defending ourselves if something was to happen. I stood beside Zuko waiting for Ozai to say something, after a few seconds, he did
"I should count myself lucky. The New Fire Lord and Phoenix Princess has graced me with their presence in my lowly prison cell." Ozai stated sarcastically, lightly glancing up at us, sneering at us in anger
"You should count yourself lucky that the Avatar spared your life." Zuko stated, keeping his emotions under control
"Hmph." Ozai shrugged his shoulders, looking over at me
"I should have killed you the day you were born." He hissed at me threateningly. I rolled my eyes at him, finding that empty threat amusing
"That is what greed does to you. Then again, Mom would never let that happen, nor anyone else in the family." I replied to him, not fazed but the expression on his face. He sighed in annoyance, turning his attention back to Zuko who actually took his threat to me to heart, clenching his jaw and fists in anger. I grabbed his hand, rubbing my thumb over his knuckles to calm him down like I use to do when I was younger. Zuko took a deep breath, calming his nerves
"Banishing me was the best thing you could have ever done for my life. It put me on the right path. Perhaps your time in here can do the same for you." Zuko informed Ozai who 'tsked' at him, shaking his head
"Why are you two really here for?" My mind went to the conversation me and Zuko just had earlier, but I had a gut feeling that we weren't going to discuss about that, especially by the way Zuko was acting now. Zuko kneeled down to Ozai's height, staring directly at him in the eye, Ozai having trouble to keep eye contact with his only son
"Because you're going to tell us something..." Something clicked in my mind, now knowing where this conversation was going. I leaned down in anticipation, waiting for Zuko to finish his sentence
"Where is our mother?" (I never read the comics that took place after the series was over, so I looked up what actually did happen to Ursa, so whatever happens from now on will be from what I found). Ozai let out a loud laugh, finding the question amusing. Zuko gritted his teeth in annoyance, about ready to lash out at Ozai until I firmly grasped his arm that wasn't covered in armor, glancing down at him, sending a look that told him I will continue this conversation
"Ozai. Shut up and tell us, I don't care if you don't want to tell us but I know for a fact that you banished her for treason for just doing the only thing she could do to save Zuko all those years ago after you ordered Grandfather to give the crown to you rather than Uncle after Lu Ten died. So I can hold that information against you and send you off to be executed." I told him, crouching down, my eyes flashing gold for a moment
"Like I would know where she went, after I banished her I never heard from her again. End of story time, now leave-!"
"You have no authority over us, scum." A deep voice came out of my throat, shocking Zuko and Ozai, even me. I blinked, realizing that was the voice of Agni pushing through, clearly getting tired of Ozai's antics
"Was that just-" I nodded at Zuko, before clearing my throat, turning my attention back to Ozai
"What Agni said. Now, tell us Ozai, we know you're lying. I know you would keep a close eye on Mom to make sure she doesn't reveal any secrets about your plans for the world, for what you were planning to do to Zuko and me." Ozai glared at me, knowing that I was correct. He took a deep breath, glaring at me
"All I know is that she left to go back to her home village Hira'a to stay with her parents. I kept watch on her for a few weeks before I became to envelope in my work to keep an eye on her. But I presume she is still there." The look on Zuko's face showed how happy he was to finally know where our mother was at, now knowing the fact that she was still alive. I nodded, standing up
"That's enough for now. Come on Zuko, we have been gone for a while we better head back." Zuko nodded, standing up straight and leaving the cell, me trailing behind him. I momentarily stopped, looking over my shoulder to look at Ozai
"You never loved her, I see that now. You just wanted strong children to carry on the Royal Family BloodLine. That's another reason why you didn't kill me the day I was born, because if I was destined to be a Phoenix, I would be the strongest Phoenix to ever live because of Avatar Roku's Blood running through my veins. But even now, I don't regret being your biological child, because I know it can't be helped, it's just the way things are. Bye Ozai."
