||Chapter 3 - New Life||
Lea's POV (3 years later)
I stalked the guards that were taking a man away from his family so he could join the war against his will. I looked over at Shinya and did a sign to say move out. He nodded his mask bouncing a bit. I placed my mask on and headed out, Shinya following behind me. We stalked towards the two guards that were holding the man captive. We soon came close to the wagon that the guard's had. They threw him in and locked it with a key. Shinya readied his bow to shoot at one of the guard's while I took care of the other. I tapped his shoulder to catch his attention. Once he turned around I elbowed him in the neck, and kneed his stomach. He fell to the ground unconscious and I looked over to see Shinya knocked out the other one. No one was around the place so we had to move quickly. We searched the guards for the key to the lock. I heard jingling noise and looked over to see Shinya jingling the keys at me, I knew he was smirking under his mask, cocky boy. Shinya unlocked it to reveal the man that was about to be taken away to join the army on the Fire Nation's side, most likely was going to be thrown out on the front lines. He looked at us then over to a poll that had our wanted posters on. His eyes widened about ready to yell bloody murder. I placed my finger in front of my mouth to say be quiet. We helped him out and unlocked his cuffs. He nodded slowly before following after us. We soon came to the alley way and Shinya looked at him. He did the sign to go back to his family and move somewhere else. It took him a while to understand what he meant but soon nodded. He ran off and I sighed. I moved the boulder along with Shinya's help to reveal a hole. We nodded at each other before jumping in it. Shinya used his earth bending to move the rock back into place. I landed safely on the ground and walked over to my makeshift bed, taking my mask off along with Shinya
"That went better than expected." Shinya stated running his hand through his shaggy brown hair. I nodded
"It sure did." I replied scratching my head
"Lin, are you sure you want to keep doing this? After all..." He trailed off and I sighed at him
"Yes, I'm sure, I need to help stop Ozai from taking people away from their homes and force them to join his army." I stated and he nodded
"Alright. Let's get some rest, we are gonna need it for our next expedition." He stated and I nodded. Why did he call me Lin? Because there are many spies everywhere and if they knew the banished Princess Lea was one of the culprits called 'Galactics' they would go ballistic. I wasn't really banished I just ran away because I couldn't take it anymore. Zuko was banished, Mom was banished. My family sucks. Azula was the only one that stayed with Ozai. After a month of searching for me they stopped and that is when I met Shinya. He was from the earth kingdom and ran away just like me, instead because his village was slaughtered by fire nation soldiers. At first, we didn't trust each other until we told our stories to each other. I laid down on my bed and grabbed the book of forms and began to study them. I still kept it after 3 years, I mastered almost all of them except for the ones that actually involve being able to bend. Shinya practiced the earth bending forms and was really good at it, but he still preferred to use his bow instead but those forms are just incase if something happens. I twirled my red hair around my finger while studying the book from my uncle. Red hair? Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about that. My hair changed color shortly after I left along with my eyes that were now a blue color. How did it change? I don't really know to be totally honest with you. I heard Shinya begin to snore meaning it was my cue to go to asleep as well. I blew the candle out and placed my book under the mattress I was laying on before going to sleep.
(Time Skip, Morning)
I woke up and stretched my arms and legs, yawning in the process. I looked over to see Shinya already awake, making us some scraps to eat for breakfast. Since we are thieves/castaways we didn't have much to go on, especially when it came to food
"I see your awake, finally." He stated piling food onto two plates
"What time is it?" I asked him and he looked over at me before thinking
"About 9:30 am or something like that." He told me and I got up from my bed and walked over to him. He handed me my plate and I thanked him. We ate the food before gearing up. I grabbed the book of forms and shoved it into my satchel. I looked over at Shinya to see him staring at his mask with a longing look. I walked over to him and gave him a side-hug
"Like you said, we are gonna keep this up until the 100 year war is over." I told him and he slowly nodded. He looked at me lightly smiling before putting his mask on. He nodded at me and grabbed his bow and quiver. I walked over to where my mask was and place it on my face, tying the rope around my head to keep it on. I nodded at him and he nodded back. I still don't know how he is able to see through that thing, unlike mine, his doesn't have any eye holes. Oh wait, he's an Earth Bender. Shinya moved the rock and we climbed up the ladder. Once we were up, I helped Shinya move it back. We looked over the corner to see if there was any guards around the area. There was none at the moment so we sneaked towards the nearest merchant. I opened my satchel and quickly grabbed some radishes. I stuffed them into the satchel while Shinya was getting bananas. After we got our food, we sneaked back over to the alley way and towards the rock. We moved the rock and threw the food down the hole.
Shinya then moved the rock back while I kept watch. I glanced over and my breath hitched
"Shinya, hurry." I whispered to him my voice faltering and shaking. He glanced over at me before finishing moving the rock back. He scaled the wall towards me and peered over my shoulder to see what I was looking at. A prison carriage went by us and I saw men from the Water Tribe Army in it. A guard walked by us and I stiffened. He looked around before walking towards the rock. I stopped breathing along with Shinya and waited until he lost interest and went back to the prison carriage. The guard shrugged before walking back to the carriage full of men.
I released my breath in a sigh of relief. Shinya was about to turn back when my gut told me to help the men from the Water Tribe Army. And that decision changed my life as a common thief to something more.
