Recovery

Time passed and soon Ein was released from the hospital. News had spread that Zack had been released from the hospital as well only to be immediately placed under arrest again for attempted murder. Aaron, true to his word, had moved out from his family home and was now staying at Aphmau and Ein's place.

Aaron and Ein grew closer each day, their bond deepening with each shared moment. They spent every moment they could together, whether it was studying, playing games, or simply enjoying each other's company. The house was filled with a warmth that had been missing for so long.

One sunny afternoon Aaron and Ein were sitting together on the couch, talking and laughing. Across the room, Aphmau and Kawaii~Chan watched them with hearts in their eyes.

"They're so cute together," Kawaii~Chan whispered, her excitement barely contained.

Aphmau nodded enthusiastically. "I know! They make such a perfect couple."

Ein, overhearing their conversation, rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his smile. He grabbed a couple of throw pillows and hurled them at the girls. "Will you two stop gushing already?"

Aphmau caught the pillow and laughed. "We can't help it, Ein! We're just happy for you two."

Kawaii~Chan giggled. "Yeah, you guys are like a real-life romance story."

Aaron chuckled as he wrapped an arm around Ein. "Guess we'll have to get used to it."

Ein sighed dramatically, but the sparkle in his eyes gave him away. "Fine, but only because it's you guys."

The room filled with laughter and light-hearted banter, a stark contrast to the darkness they had faced not long ago. Despite everything, they were moving forward, stronger together. The future, uncertain as it was, seemed a little brighter with each passing day.

...

When the group returned to school, whispers followed Aaron and Ein wherever they went. Students exchanged glances and hushed comments about the incident at homecoming and Aaron couldn't help but overhear snippets of their conversations.

"Did you see Aaron's werewolf form?"

"Yeah, it was so intense. Is he some kind of special werewolf?"

"Do you think he's dangerous?"

Aaron felt a knot of insecurity tighten in his chest. The stares and whispers made him feel exposed and vulnerable. He tried to keep his head up but it was hard to ignore the sense of judgment from his peers.

Noticing Aaron's unease, Ein gently grabbed his hand and pulled him into an empty classroom. The quiet of the room was a stark contrast to the chaos outside.

"Aaron what's going on?" Ein asked softly, concern etched in his features. "You've been acting off ever since we got here."

Aaron sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's just... all the whispers and the stares. People saw my form and now they're scared of me. I feel like I've lost control and it's not something I can take back."

Ein stepped closer, his eyes filled with understanding. "What do you mean, your form? Aaron, I've never seen anything like that. What happened?"

Aaron hesitated, his eyes shifting away from Ein's. "There's something I need to tell you, Ein. Something I've been hiding."

Ein frowned, confusion etched on his face. "What is it?"

Aaron took a deep breath, gathering his courage. "I'm an Ultima werewolf."

Ein blinked, clearly taken aback. "An Ultima werewolf? Aaron, those are just myths. Are you serious?"

Aaron nodded, his expression serious. "It's not a myth. My family has kept it a secret for generations. An Ultima werewolf has immense power and abilities that regular werewolves don't. That's why my father (well he isn't exactly my dad now since we disowned each other) was so strict and overprotective. He's scared that I'll lose control....and I did."

Ein stared at Aaron, trying to process the information. "So, at homecoming... that was your Ultima form?"

"Yes," Aaron admitted. "I've never fully transformed like that before. It only happened because I thought that I had lost you."

Ein's eyes softened with understanding. "Aaron, that's... a lot to take in, but it makes sense. I was always wondering how you were able to fight that good. I guess it comes with the genes."

Aaron looked down, his shoulders slumping. "But what if people are right? What if I am dangerous?"

Ein reached out, lifting Aaron's chin so their eyes met. "You're not dangerous. You're strong and protective. You've been there for me when I needed you the most and if people can't see that then that's their problem, not yours."

Aaron's gaze softened, the weight of Ein's words sinking in. "Thanks, Ein. I just... I needed to hear that."

Ein smiled gently. "Anytime, Aaron. We'll get through this together."

With that they shared a moment of quiet understanding, the bond between them stronger than ever despite the challenges they faced. The whispers outside might continue, but within the walls of that empty classroom, they found solace in each other's presence.

...

At lunch the group gathered around their usual table, the atmosphere light and filled with laughter. Kawaii~Chan could hardly contain her excitement, her eyes practically sparkling.

"My OTP is finally together!" she gushed, clasping her hands together in delight. "This is the best thing ever!"

Aaron rolled his eyes but a smile tugged at his lips. He leaned over and kissed Ein softly, making Kawaii~Chan squeal with joy. Garroth seized the moment to make another joke.

"So, Aaron, does this mean you're a 'super senior' now?" Garroth teased, winking.

Aphmau playfully shoved Garroth. "Oh, knock it off! Let them have their moment."

The table erupted in laughter, everyone enjoying their time together. It felt good to share a moment of normalcy after everything they had been through.

...

As the school day came to an end Ein and Aaron met outside, the afternoon sun casting long shadows on the ground. They walked side by side, discussing their plans for the future.

"So, where are you thinking of applying to college?" Ein asked, genuinely curious.

Aaron looked thoughtful. "I'm planning on applying to a nearby community college. That way, I can be closer to you and I don't have to move out of Sylvannas home."

Ein grinned, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. He decided to crack a joke. "That's great, Aaron. I honestly thought you were going to apply to Falconclaw University considering how prestigious it is."

Aaron rolled his eyes playfully. "Yeah, well, I don't want any association with the Lycan name anymore. I've been thinking... if we ever choose to get married, I'd want to take your last name instead."

Ein's eyes widened, and he nearly stumbled in surprise. "Married? You... you'd take my last name?"

Aaron chuckled softly, catching Ein's arm to steady him. "Yeah, I would. It's something I've thought about a lot. Being with you has shown me what really matters."

Ein's heart raced at the thought, his mind filled with a future he hadn't dared to imagine. "Aaron... I... I think I'd like that a lot."

They continued walking, the conversation flowing easily between them as they discussed their hopes and dreams, feeling closer than ever.

...

As the evening settled in, Aaron found himself in the kitchen helping Sylvanna prepare dinner. The warm, savory smells filled the air as they worked together, chopping vegetables and stirring pots. In the living room, Ein and Aphmau were animatedly discussing the latest episode of One Piece, their voices occasionally rising in excitement.

"So, what do you think of Luffy's new power-up?" Ein asked, his eyes wide with enthusiasm.

Aphmau grinned. "It's incredible! Gear Five was definitely worth the hype!"

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Sylvanna glanced at Aaron with a knowing smile. "You know, Aaron, I can see you fitting into this family quite nicely. Maybe even... marrying into it someday?"

Aaron's face turned a deep shade of red, and in his flustered state, he nearly dumped an entire container of spice into the dish he was preparing. Sylvanna chuckled at his reaction but then her expression turned serious. She grabbed Aaron by the shirt collar, pulling him closer with surprising strength.

"Listen here, Aaron," she said in a low, dangerous voice. "If you ever break my son's heart I will hunt you down and end you. Do you understand?"

Aaron nodded vigorously, his eyes wide with fear. "Y-Yes, ma'am. I understand."

Satisfied, Sylvanna released him and returned to cooking, her demeanor quickly shifting back to one of warmth and kindness. Aaron made a mental note to never, ever make Sylvanna mad.

As they continued cooking the sounds of Ein and Aphmau's lively conversation filled the room, creating a cozy, familial atmosphere. Despite the underlying tension from Sylvanna's threat, Aaron felt a sense of belonging and contentment. He was determined to make things work with Ein and to be a part of this family that had already come to mean so much to him.

That night Ein found himself sitting on the roof of the house looking out at the stars. The cool breeze brushed against his skin and the quiet of the night gave him space to reflect on his life up until now.

His mind wandered back to the days before Sylvanna had adopted him, the endless cycle of fear and abuse at the hands of his father. He remembered the pain, the loneliness, and the hopelessness that had clouded his world. But then, Sylvanna had stepped in, bringing him into her home and giving him a second chance at life.

Phoenix Drop High had been a whirlwind of experiences, both good and bad. He remembered the struggle of fitting in, the constant fear of being judged, and the relentless bullying. Yet, through all of it, there had been moments of joy and connection. His thoughts drifted to the friends he had made along the way, the people who had stood by him and supported him when he needed it the most.

Ein smiled as he recalled the first time he had met Aaron. He had thought Aaron was a jackass, someone too cocky for his own good, but as time went on, Aaron had shown a different side, one that was kind, understanding, and fiercely protective. Ein had found himself falling for Aaron and despite all the chaos and uncertainty they had managed to find love in each other.

His memories took him to that fateful prom night, the night he had finally stood up to his father. The confrontation had been terrifying, but he had felt a strength within himself that he hadn't known existed. Even though it had ended with him being shot, Ein knew he had taken the first step towards breaking free from his past. He remembered the kiss he and Aaron had shared before he was loaded into the ambulance, a moment of pure love amidst the chaos.

Ein thought about his recovery, how all his friends had been there for him, supporting him every step of the way. The shock of Aaron moving in and becoming a permanent part of the family had been overwhelming, but also incredibly comforting. Aaron had brought a sense of stability and love that Ein had desperately needed.

Sitting on the roof, Ein felt a deep sense of gratitude for everyone who had been there for him. He realized that despite all the hardships, he had been blessed with an incredible support system. His life had been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but it had ultimately led him to this moment, where he felt loved, supported, and hopeful for the future.

Ein heard the creak of the roof hatch opening and turned to see Aaron climbing out, a mischievous grin on his face and a bag of chips in hand. Aaron settled down next to him, the bag crinkling as he opened it.

"Stole these from the kitchen," Aaron said, offering Ein a chip.

Ein took one, smiling as he munched on it. "Thanks. You know, you're risking mom's wrath by stealing her favorite chips."

Aaron chuckled. "Anything's worth it to see you smile."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while enjoying the night sky. The stars twinkled brightly above and the cool breeze was soothing. Aaron eventually broke the silence, his voice soft.

"You know Ein you're one of the bravest and kindest people I know," Aaron said, glancing over at him. "I'm not exactly familiar with werewolf culture due to not really bothering with it much when I was younger, but I'm learning more about it every day I spend with you."

Ein chuckled, the sound light and genuine. "Yeah, I'm sure you're learning all about the werewolf side of things, huh?"

Aaron rolled his eyes, a fond smile on his lips. "I'm serious, Ein. You've been through so much and you're still here, stronger than ever."

They chatted for a while longer, their conversation filled with laughter and warmth. As they talked, a shooting star streaked across the sky, leaving a shimmering trail in its wake.

"Look a shooting star," Aaron said, pointing. "Make a wish."

Ein looked at the star, then back at Aaron. "My wish already came true."

Aaron's eyes softened, and he leaned in, capturing Ein's lips in a tender kiss. They kissed under the night sky, the stars witnessing their love and the promise of a brighter future together. The world around them faded away, leaving just the two of them in their perfect moment.
