Chapter 2 Aftermath
(With Fred)
Fred was running as fast as he could move however Playa had a head start so he was having a hard time catching up.
"Ugh I'm never going to catch up with her at this rate!" Fred said to himself.
He then looked around for anything that could help him with catching up to his cousin. He soon spotted a pizza guy with a bike making a delivery.
He then ran up to the pizza guy and asked "Hey can I borrow your bike for a moment?! I need it urgently!"
The Pizza guy then looked at Fred, surprised by what he said.
"Um sir I've got like two more deliveries to take care of, so I can't really let you borrow my bike." the Pizza guy explained.
Fred groaned before getting an idea, he then pulled out his wallet and got out about 700 dollars and handed it to the pizza guy.
"What the?!" The Pizza guy exclaimed, surprised by the amount of money Fred had.
"Listen I need to borrow your bike, it's an emergency I need to get my cousin!" Fred explained.
The Pizza guy was shocked and he studied Fred's face further and recognized him after seeing a bag he had on his uniform.
"Y-Your part of the Omnipotent family, one of the most powerful families in the whole city!" The Pizza guy exclaimed.
"Yes, I am now, bike now!" Fred said in a more demanding tone while also shoving the money to the pizza guy aggressively.
The Pizza guy nodded, took the money, handed his bike over to Fred, and took his other deliveries off of it. Fred thanked him before he started pedaling off to catch up with Playa and hoped she didn't do anything stupid.
(Meanwhile back at the family house)
Playa's mother was in the kitchen washing some dishes from dinner the other day and breakfast that morning. As she was washing she listened to the news that her mother had on as she felt relaxed listening to the news while she did chores.
"And that's the weather for you all today." The news woman said.
"Ahh such nice weather we'll have for the next few days. Right Haley?" The Grandmother asked.
"Yes mother It's always wonderful to have nice sunny days during spring." Haley said as she rinsed some dishes and put them on a drying rack.
"In other news a recent sighting of a new Phoenix blood has just come in. The new Phoenix blood is a highschool girl who has been attending Aura Private academy. Here is a picture of the new Phoenix Blood in question." The News woman explained then a picture of Playa showed up on screen.
When Grandma saw her granddaughter on screen she jumped up in shock.
"Mother what- *gasp, crash*!" Haley asked her mother till she looked at the TV and saw Playa's face on the news.
It shocked her so much that she dropped the plate she was holding and it fell to the floor and broke.
"Oh my word! MY BABY GIRL IS A PHOENIX BLOOD!" Haley exclaimed, shocked and scared for her daughter's safety.
"Haley, call your husband at once and inform him of this! Make sure he doesn't allow anyone to take her into any sort of custody!" Grandma commanded at once.
"Yes Mother! I will!" Haley said before grabbing her phone and dialing her husband's number into it.
After a few rings her husband picked up his phone and answered it once he saw that it was his wife.
"Hey love can't talk right now gotta find Playa!" Her husband said in a panic.
"That's what I was about to tell you! I saw the news that Playa is a Phoenix Blood!" Haley explained in a worried tone.
"I know hone as soon as I got the news I immediately told everyone in my squad to look for her and bring her home." Her husband explained.
"Oh thank goodness! I hope she's not too frightened about what happened." Haley said.
"I'm sure she's fine, I'll update you about anything related to what happened to her." Haley's husband reassured his wife.
Haley relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief when she heard her husband say that, as she felt like her daughter will be safe as long as he's looking for her.
"Thanks Philip I hope you can find Playa and please bring her home safely." Haley requested.
"Don't worry love, I will bring her home safely and we'll do everything we can to ensure that she doesn't become a lab rat for some twisted scientists." Philip said before hanging up the phone and going back to look for his daughter.
(Meanwhile with Playa)
Playa ran through the forest with terror running through her veins, just a few hours ago she was hit by a car and died. Now she was alive again and she knew that it meant only one thing, that she was Phoenix blood.
"This can't be happening! This can't be happening! This isn't real! It's just a dream! I'm just at home in bed and I'll wake up from this! I'm not Phoenix Blood!" Playa said to herself as she ran into the woods.
She then tripped on a rock, fell down, and scraped her knee and arm on the pavement below.
"Ow! Okay I'm not dreaming I'm definitely awake or else I would've never have felt that." Playa said as she got up and looked at her injuries.
As she looked at her scrapes she heard something coming up to her, when she looked up she saw her cousin Fred riding up to her on a bike. Once Fred saw Playa on the ground with her knee and arm scraped he got worried and rode up to her faster. Once he was caught up to her he stopped and got off the bike to cheek up and see if she was alright.
"Playa! Are you alright?!" Fred asked in a worried tone.
"I-I think so, b-but I don't know if I'm being honest." Playa admitted.
"I know, this must be a huge shock for you. After all you are a Phoenix Blood that's gotta be life changing." Fred said.
"Yeah, not to mention dangerous! I mean you know what happens when a Phoenix Blood is discovered!" Playa exclaimed, her face having concern written all over it.
"I know but I also know my cousin. It doesn't matter if you're a Phoenix Blood Playa! All that matters is that you're still you and you wouldn't hurt anyone right?" Fred asked.
"N-No not unless I was defending myself." Playa explained.
"Exactly, you're not a bad person Playa and If I know anything you'll just use your powers to help others instead of hurting them." Fred explained.
"... yeah that's true I would never hurt anyone for any reason and I would only use my powers to help others out." Playa said feeling a lot better about her situation.
"Yeah! Now let's get your cut's cleaned and bandaged up and head home, I passed by a tiny store on the way here so we'll make a quick pit stop and head back home." Fred explained.
"Okay... and I need to get out of this uniform! It's torn apart and soaked in my blood." Play said as she grabbed her shirt and looked at it.
"Yeah I agree and we can talk more about this new change with the rest of the family when we get home." Fred said as he got back on the bike.
Playa got on as well and Fred rode off to the small store to get what they needed to clean Playa's cuts. After a few minutes the two cousins arrived at the store and were about to go inside when Playa stopped. Fred noticed Playa stopping, he looked over to his cousin and saw the tense look on Playa's face.
"Um Fred, you don't think I'm a freak do you?" Playa asked.
"No, why would you say such a thing?" Fred asked.
"Well I don't know? I'm Phoenix Blood and I can't die, not to mention all the powers that I apparently have." Playa explained.
"Well yeah but like I said that does not change who you are Playa. To our family, aside from Kile you'll always be the same person we all know and love, so you don't need to worry at all, we'll get through this together as a family." Fred reassured Playa.
Hearing that helped Playa feel a little better but it still didn't change how others outside of her family will view her. She was also scared that some mad scientists would potentially try and kidnap her for some sick experiments. She shook these thoughts off however and decided to focus on cleaning her scrapes and getting home.
All she wanted to do right now was get home, get out of the blood stained clothes she was wearing, and get a shower as while her injuries from the accident were gone the blood was still on her body and not just her clothes. So the two went in and Fred looked over at the cashier who he recognized instantly.
"Yo! How's it been?" Fred asked cheerfully.
Mat looked up from his phone and when he saw Fred he smiled happy to see his friend.
"Hey Fred not much, just having a slow day at work. This place doesn't get many customers as it's closer to the more secluded parts of the nearby hiking trail." Mat explained.
"Yeah I bet, hey do you have any medical supplies we could use? My cousin Playa here kinda tripped and cut herself." Fred explained while wrapping an arm around Playa's shoulders.
Mat looked at Playa and saw her torn up and blood stained clothes. When he saw this he immediately became alarmed as she looked awful.
"Um, are you sure that's all? Playa here looks like she's going to need an ambulance!" Mat exclaimed concern for Playa's current condition.
"Trust me she doesn't man... because she's a Phoenix Blood." Fred explained.
Playa then got angry and punched Fred's arm as she didn't want him just blurting that info out.
"FRED! Please don't just outright say that?! I don't want people who don't already know to find out I'm Phoenix Blood!" Playa exclaimed angrily.
"Sorry, but everyone's going to know eventually after all this was probably already announced on the news." Fred explained.
"... I know but still, this is going to change everything in my whole life! I can still remember the pain I felt when the van hit me, how it felt to die! I-I don't want to experience that again." Playa said disturbed and scared by what had happened to her.
Fred notices Playa starting to shake violently and hold her arms tightly against her body. Fred frowned before giving Playa a tight hug as a way to calm and comfort her knowing that she just went through god knows what kind of pain and hell. Mat meanwhile felt bad for Playa as he didnt know what kind of pain the poor girl had just gone through.
"*Sigh* Hey I can get you two some items to help clean and patch up any wounds that Playa had gotten after the accident she was in. And don't worry I wont tell anyone else about Playa being Phoenix blood as we all know what happens to them, especially if some scientists get their hands on them." Mat offered.
"Sure thanks Mat we appreciate the help very much." Fred said. "Anything for a friend." Mat said.
Fred and Playa then went into the medical part of the store while Mat left his station at the cash register. However when he looked out of the window he saw a suspicious white van outside with tinted windows.
When Mat saw this his gut told him that this was very suspicious as no one came out of the van and the idea that the windows were tinted didn't help either.
Having seen scary stories online as well as movies such, sus (among us XD had to) looking cars always meant bad news. So he got out his phone and dialed 911 and kept it like that incase he needed to call them.
After about a minute Fred, Playa, and Mat all got the items they needed to clean up Playa's scrapes. Playa sat down at a chair that was close to the entrance, and sowed the scrapes that were on her arm and leg. Fred applied some alcohol and disinfectants that would keep the wounds from getting infected. Playa did flinch a little as it did sting but she felt a bit better once Fred put on the bandaids.
"T-Thanks Fred." Playa said, still in a bit of pain.
"Anything for my family and friends." Fred explained.
Playa smiled after hearing her cousin say that, as he'd never opened up about his softer side as a way to remain like the tough guy.
"Hey Fred, can we go home now? I wanna shower and rest after what just happened today." Playa explained.
"I bet, and yes we'll go home right now and we can all take the day off from school tomorrow to talk about this new discovery." Fred suggested.
"I'd like that... and I don't know if I can go back to school for a while after this whole mess." Playa said sadly.
"Playa I might've never met you before, but from what Fred has told me about you, you never let anything get in the way of your dreams and education. He told me that no matter what you'd always do what you can to become a nurse like you've always wanted to become. He's also said that he hopes that you will make your dream come true as the most important thing in the world to him is for his family to be as happy as they can be!" Mat said encouragingly.
When Playa and Fred heard that, Playa smiled when she learned about what Fred had said about her. While poor Fred blushed from embarrassment at this as he didn't want his family hearing him being all gushy about them.
"Aww Fred, that's so sweet of you to say! I Never knew you felt that way about us!" Playa said both teasing and feeling honored that her cousin cared so much about his family.
"L-Lets just go home. Everyone's probably worried about us so let's get home." Fred said then got up to pay for the items that were used on Playa's scrapes.
"Hey Fred I wanna let you know about a little something before you and your cousin head out to go home." Mat said while getting back behind the counter to ring up the items Fred was buying.
"Really? Well don't leave me in the Dark Mat. What's the news you got for me?" Fred asked Mat curiously.
"Well I saw a strange and rather suspicious looking van outside and I thought I'd let you guys know about it before you left. From what I've seen on the internet and videos, cars and vans with tinted windows often have people in them who are up to no good. After all, why would the windows be tinted unless there is something that you're hiding." Mat explained expressing his concerns for his friend and his cousin.
Fred looked outside and saw the said van that Mat was talking about, and he did have to agree that it did indeed look rather shifty. He also had to agree with Mat's statement on having a car with Tinted windows, unless there is something you wanna hide from someone then why would your windows be tinted?
"Thanks for Informing me of that, Mat, I'll keep my guard up when me and Playa head out and go home." Fred said as he finished paying for the items they used.
"And don't worry I got my phone out and it has 911 dialed into it so if anything happens to the two of you I'll call them and come out to help you." Mat explained.
Fred smiled and nodded before walking up to Playa, grabbing her by the hand, and took her outside. As soon as the two left the store the van opened up and men in all black came out of it. The men had tranquilizer and stun guns on their person, and when Playa saw them she immediately became terrified of them.
"Um S-Sirs, what are you all doing?! And what are planning on doing with those? They kinda seem dangerous so why do you have them out here?" Fred asked with a face and voice full of concern.
"Sir, we're going to have to ask you to step aside. We've received an anonymous call telling us about a Phoenix Blood, and who they were." One of the men said.
"Yes that thing will be coming with us and it will become a subject in our experiments to learn more about Phoenix Bloods." Another man said with no emotion whatsoever in his voice.
When Playa heard that she felt her heart drop with terror, as horrific thoughts ran through her mind of what would happen to her. She'd die over and over again to cure twisted experiments, all the horrific pain she'd go through just for some sick experiments for information that seems very obvious.
To her Phoenix Bloods cant die and that was that, there was no need to experiment on them! All she wanted was to continue on with her life and hopefully become a nurse. She didn't want to become a lab rat for some pointless experiments for information that's already very clear.
"Hey now! My cousin here isn't a thing! She's a living person with feelings and she's coming with me and we're going home!" Fred Stated angrily, furious that they would refer to his cousin like she was just an item and not a person.
"Sir this is the last time we will ask you, hand over the Phoenix blood now! Or else we'll be forced to use other matters to collect the Phoenix blood." the first man said while holding the tranquilizer gun up and pointed it at Playa.
"I'm also going to say this one last time myself! I'm. Not. Handing. Over. My. COUSIN!" Fred exclaimed angrily.
The men then shot Fred with a taser gun, causing him to scream in pain and collapse to the ground as the electricity surged through him.
"FRED NO! WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO HIM!?" Playa demanded, as fire started coming off her body.
"Sir target is using its fire permission to use drugs?" One of the men asked through a communicator.
"Permission granted, the fire can make transporting the cargo much harder to do." Someone on the other side of the communicator said.
"Yes sir." The man said as he aimed the tranquilizer at Playa and fired a dart at her.
Playa thankfully dodged the dart as if she was playing dodgeball in PE class. Playa then raised her hand like she was about to throw a ball right back at the man. However she threw a fireball at him and the man didn't have time to react and was thrown back by the fireball.
After throwing the fireball Playa snapped out of her anger and instantly was taken over by fear and horror. Playa thought for a second she'd just killed the guy, but she saw that he was still breathing and that his suit was fireproof which sent a wave of relief over her.
Unfortunately the relief lasted only for a second when another one of the men fired another dart at her. This time Playa didn't have time to react or dodge as the dart hit her right in the neck.
Playa stumbled back as her vision started getting blurry and the fire around her started to sizzle out. Playa collapsed to the ground as the drug took effect and knocked her out cold.
"Phoenix flames put out now time to bring it in." One of the men said as they went up to Playa and was about to grab her.
However he was instantly hit with a skateboard breaking his nose and causing him to stumble back while holding his nose. The man looked to see who hit him and saw Mat holding his skateboard with a furious look on his face.
"You Sons of Bitches better get your asses out of here NOW! I've already called the police and they'll be here any second now as Playa's father is looking for her! Should I also mention that her dad is the chief of Police! So unless you all want to rot in jail GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" Mat screamed at the top of his lungs, his voice full of rage.
"Sir we were given a job to collect a Phoenix Blood so we will collect our cargo and only then will we leave." One of the men stated, unfazed by Mats words.
"Ugh you Fuckers aren't going anywhere with my cousin! I'd rather die than let you take my family away and subject her to inhumane experiments!" Fred exclaimed, showing the same (if not more) amount of anger that Mat was showing.
The men as usual didn't listen to a single thing the two were saying and just continued on trying to take Playa away. They tried shooting both Mat and Fred with tranquilizers, but Mat used his skateboard as a shield and the dart just got stuck in the wood.
While Fred dove out of the way of the one that was aimed at him. Fred then rolled up onto his feet and ran up to one of the men who tried to use a taser on Fred again. However before he could pull the trigger Fred managed to grab his arms and knee him hard in the stomach.
He then grabbed the taser and pressed it right up against the man and tazed him right back. The man screamed in pain and passed out from the electricity that flowed through his body.
The other men then all aimed their weapons at Fred and Mat, the two boys were frozen as they couldn't take on all of them at once as there were at least five men still standing and only two of them. One of the men then made his way to Playa, (who was still unconscious) while pointing his gun at Fred to collect her.
However before the man could even lay a finger on her they all heard sirens blaring in the distance. When they looked, Fred and Mat couldn't help but feel like it was a miracle from God himself. It was the police, and they were driving towards them very fast.
The men tried to flee, however the police were faster and in the blink of an eye the police were able to surround the area preventing the men from leaving. Then several officers came out of their cars and pointed their tasers and guns at the men.
"Men put your hands up! You all are under arrest!" One of the officers called out.
The men complied, taking the adult officers more seriously than the kids. Some police officers came up to the men and put them in handcuffs before loading them in the back of one of the cars. Fred watched with a satisfied smirk on his face, glad to see the same men who tried to kidnap his cousin being hauled away in the police cars.
Then Fred felt someone putting their hand on his shoulder, Fred looked up and saw his uncle (Playas father) standing next to him looked proud.
"Fred, thank you so much for protecting Playa, I'm proud to call you my nephew." Philip said, in a proud tone.
Fred smiled and said "Hey I'd do anything for my family, after all the family slogan, Family looks out for each other!"
Philip smiled upon hearing that, he then looked around for Playa and found her unconscious form on the ground. Worried he picked her up and examined her to see if she was alright, all he ended up finding was the scrapes she got some time earlier.
Fred then told Philip about what the men did to her, once Philip heard about the tranquilizer he immediately knew what it was.
"Fred, let's go home and talk about this more there." Philip said as he got up and walked over to his car.
"Actually with all that just went down today, I'm drained, both physically and mentally, so can we talk about this tomorrow when we all have a clear head?" Fred asked his uncle as right now he wanted to rest and clear his head.
Philip hummed for a second before agreeing to wait till the morning to talk about this discovery about Playa.
Fred smiled upon hearing this, he then looked back at Mat who looked like he was trying to process what had just happened now. Fred, feeling bad for getting Mat dragged into this, went up to his friend and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Mat looked over at Fred and saw he had a comforting look on his face, which made him smile a little.
"Hey Mat when everything calms down and it's safer for my cousin to go out, wanna hang around the skate park?" Fred asked.
"Sure I'd love to do that, but in the meantime good luck with what's going on in your family bro." Mat said before putting his fist up, indicating that he wanted a fist bump.
Fred smiled before fist bumping Mat right back, before getting in his uncle's car to go home and rest up for the night.
(Later at the house)
Everyone else in Playa's family was in the main living room worried sick about Playa and where she might be.
"I really hope big sis is alright!" Clementine said, worried about her big sister.
"Clem it's alright, Fred just messaged me and said that him and Playa are on their way home now." Thomas explained, trying to calm his little sister down.
"That's good to know, I don't know what I'd do if we lost Playa, she's a part of this family after all." Mechell said.
"Yeah I just hope Playa didn't hurt herself when she ran away." Scarlet said, also worried about her little sister.
Soon the doorbell rang and Haley looked through the peephole and saw her husband holding their daughter in his arms. When she saw her child she instantly opened the door and allowed them all in. When they came in they all saw the state Playa was in and how tired and slammed Fred looked.
"Fred are you alright?!" Mechell asked, worried about her brother.
"Yeah it's just that some jack asses who got an anonymous call from someone about Playa being a Phoenix Blood! Then those crackheads tried to kidnap her and they weren't even acting like she was a person!" Fred exclaimed angrily, furious at the people who treated his family in such a matter.
"What! Someone reported Playa as a Phoenix Blood anomaly to a scientist?!" Scarlet exclaimed, surprised to hear that.
"Apparently yes, they also tranquilized her with some kind of Drug that from what I heard them say "Put out the flames" in her." Fred explained.
"What?! What the hell does that even mean? What did that do to my sister?" Thomas asked.
"I'm able to answer that." Philip said.
"Huh? Dad, what did that thing do to Playa?" Clementine asked.
"It's a new kind of drug that the government uses on Phoenix Bloods, mainly the ones that use their powers to hurt others. It can temporarily put the fire that Phoenix Bloods use out and have them fall asleep as they can't use their powers while unconscious." Philip explained.
"Oh alright, thanks for letting us know uncle... so um what do we do now?" Mechell asked.
"Wait till the morning to talk about all of this, Playa had a rough day and once she wakes up, we'll let her shower and rest up. After today I think we all need some rest, and we'll discuss this matter and what we'll do about it tomorrow." Philip explained.
Everyone then looked at each other then back at Philip before nodding in agreement. Philip smiled and took Playa to her room so she'd have somewhere comfortable to rest till she woke up.
Kile meanwhile saw and heard everything and wasn't happy that they didn't get Playa which meant he wouldn't get his money.
He went back to his room and got on his laptop to talk to his friends about this. He sat down at his desk, opened his laptop and went onto a private online chat with his friends.
When he went online he saw himself along with his other friends in the chat room.
"Yo Kile how'd it go? Did we get the money?" Carl asked.
"No My brother and uncle stopped the guys who were sent out to collect Playa. As long as she's here we won't get our money." Kile explained bitterly.
"Oh great! So what do we do about this? After all, we won't get paid till she's in their custody." Addie explained.
"Oh don't worry we will get our money, we just gotta be patient after all, uncle still doesn't know who those men work for so I'm sure that they'll get Playa soon and we'll get our money." Kile said as he smiled sinisterly.
