Chapter 5: Spectrophobia

It's been a few months since I moved here and met Midoriya. The job at the library was going well, I became friends with Todoroki and Kirishima, and none of my episodes showed up.

So what happened that day?

3rd person POV

A lifeless body laid still on the scorching sand, even with it being hot, her skin was growing cold and paler by the second.

A man kneeled over her, feeling the heat of the sun, but throwing those thoughts away as the woman plagued his thoughts. He probably broke her sternum already with the amount of pressure he used for compressions, but that was the least of his worries.

Onlookers grieved at the sight of a usually confident and kind-hearted hero losing his composure as he cried and hearing his broken voice swearing at himself to save her.

"Wake up,(F/n)!"

1st person POV

The tiny bell above the wooden door rang as I didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"(F/n)! Any new customers yet?" The cheery voice struck through my heart as I whipped around to see Midoriya with a beautiful smile.

"Other than Shoto-san a few hours ago, not really no." I went back to fixing the shelves hearing his footsteps walk around the bookstore.

"Oh, good afternoon ma'am!" I peeked over at Midoriya seeing him bow towards my boss.

"Oh stand up, you're not in grade school!" She complained as I covered my mouth from laughing. "So what brings you here other than to see my lovely employee?"

"I wanted to ask you if I could take her to the beach!" I nearly hit my head on the bookshelf from his question. "I would take care of everything of course!"

"Go right ahead, she's turning into a hermit crab at this rate!"

"B-But I'm not even done fixing the shelves!" I yelled at her, seeing the sparkles in Midoriya's eyes.

"Do it later, you need some sunshine!" Midoriya quickly escorted me out of the shop as I was shoved into a car with Shoto and Eijiro in the front.

"Did I just get kidnapped?" I questioned out loud as Midoriya hopped into the car on the other side with a grin.

"Sorry, Izuku asked me to." Shoto started driving as Eijiro turned to us in the back.

"It seemed fun, so I decided to join! Katsuki is already at the beach with the rest of the class, and you're the only one left!" His cheery voice relaxed me a bit as I rolled my eyes.

"I wasn't a part of your class though, so why am I going to a reunion?" I felt a hand on top of mine as I looked over at Midoriya rubbing my hand.

"Your brother thought it would be a good way to get you to socialize. Do you not want to go?" Midoriya's doe eyes finally showed up as I looked away from him.

"It's too late now, I'm already in the car."

The rest of the car ride fell into a comfortable silence as I took a small nap, enjoying the small hum of the car.

I felt myself shift a bit, snuggling into a warm presence before hearing voices around me.

"Aww, look how cute she looks, Izuku!"

"Shh! Don't wake her up!" Knowing the boys were never going to hurt a hair on my head, I fell back asleep peacefully.

Izuku's POV

"Izuku, has she had any more episodes lately?" I looked up at Shoto before letting my eyes fall back to her sleeping face.

"No, not for 3 months." I brushed the hair out of her face, making sure she was more than comfortable.

"Hey, do you like (F/n)-chan?" I froze, looking up at Eijiro. "You treat her more than a friend, it looks a bit like you're lovers."

"N...no, I just treat her like a sister because of Davis. Nothing more, nothing less." I scoffed at the looks they gave me, focusing back onto (F/n)'s face.

1st person POV

"Wakey wakey, we're at the beach!" I peeked my eyes open to see Midoriya giving me a happy smile.

I stretched, getting out of the car seeing a beautiful white beach with a few people already by the water. Feeling a bit out of place, I stuck next to Midoriya the whole time as we met up with the rest of the group.

"Wanna go into the water?" I look up at Midoriya nervously, squeezing one of his hands.

"I-I don't have a swimsuit..." I mumbled, flinching a bit when a bubbly woman held up a (f/c) two piece swimsuit.

"Go on, I'll wait for you here." I followed the girls, looking back at Midoriya as he nodded.

As soon as I entered the dressing rooms, I was face-to-face with a floor mirror as I closed my eyes, catching a glimpse of the disgusting figure in full view.

"(L/n)-san, why do you have your eyes closed?" A cute woman with frog-like features asked as I passed by the mirror, opening them up again.

"I just don't like mirrors, that's all." We started changing as I stared at the bikini, feeling a terrible pit in my stomach.

I slipped on the suit, hating how it hugs my curves a bit too well as we walked out of the rooms.

I spotted Midoriya and relaxed a bit before seeing a load of girls surrounding him and Todoroki. Feeling I shouldn't bother with it, I walked around the beach, finding a rocky secluded area to relax at.

Touching the rocks, I sat down enjoying the sun before looking at the ocean, and locking eyes with myself.

My reflection mocked me, making a giant crack in the rock as I jumped, looking away immediately. I rubbed my arms, trying to warm myself up before hearing voices.

"Who's the pretty girl over there?"

"Go up to her, she's alone!"

I turned, seeing three guys staring at me with suspicious smiles as I backed up a bit.

"Hey, are you alone here?" The first guy asked as I hoped Midoriya would come looking for me.

"W-Why do you ask?" I cursed at myself for stuttering, looking back at the ocean closing my eyes.

"We were wondering if you wanted to have some fun with us? We don't bite hard!" I groaned at their attempt, standing up and walking past them.

"Sorry, not interested." I held back my emotions feeling a hand around my forearm, pulling me around to face them.

"Aww, come on, you're not doing anything!" I tried to ignore them walking away again before feeling a harsh tug on my hair.

Letting my powers slip for a second, a blood-curdling scream burst my eardrums for a second as I felt a warm liquid on my back and hair.

I stared at the ground, seeing the familiar red liquid puddle behind me at a flood-warning rate. I tried to calm my breathing, hearing more screams as I froze in place.

A familiar voice struck through my ears as my consciousness came back, making me go into an all out sprint across the rocks.

"(F/n)!" His voice rang out behind me as I kept running, terrified of facing him after that horrific scene.

A sharp pain went through my ankle as the world spun before going dark blue.

"Test 590, Spectrophobia." I sat in the white room, noticing a box they rolled in. They opened the box, motioning for me to step in as I complied, hearing a click as soon as I was in.

The box was covered in mirrors as I just stared at myself. I don't know how long I was in there, maybe days, without water or food as my face started to warp.

"You're disgusting."

"You're a monster." Voices were surrounding me as I closed my eyes, knowing there was something in the mirror.

"Stop it!" I screamed out, as they continued, getting louder.

I finally caved in, breaking the mirror box as I looked around, seeing bodyguards next to father.

He walked up to me through the shards, caressing my face as I cried, knowing I couldn't pull away from him.

"Petal, I'd like you to meet someone." I looked behind my father, seeing a boy a bit older than me with (e/c) colored eyes and a sadistic smile. "This is Davis."

Izuku's POV

"Hey, have you seen (F/n)-chan come out yet?" Kirishima asked me as I was talking to some fans.

"No, have the girls said she walked out?" His frown grew deeper as my heart quickened.

"They said she walked out with all of them. Let's look around--"

A scream cut Kirishima off as I knew exactly what happened. I was already on my way to the direction of the voice, seeing a horrific sight.

A decapitated man was behind a familiar figure with two other men running away from them. I got closer, confirming it was (F/n) as my heart sunk at her shaken up stance.

"(F/n)...?" As soon as I said her name, she ran away as I chased after her without hesitation.

My calls and pleas for her to stop didn't make her falter as I tried to run faster, seeing her slip and sink into the ocean.

I jumped in after her, following the blood trail as I was able to grab her arm, pulling her into my grasp.

Resurfacing quickly, I brought her ashore hearing gasps and whispers as I checked her breathing. None.

Remembering my training, I began chest compressions, hoping she would wake up and stare at me with those curious eyes you just get lost in.

I felt two guys pull me away as Eijiro took over in my place. I whipped my head around to see Shoto and Denki holding me back with regret in their eyes.

A siren brought me back as the paramedics showed up, quickly taking her away as I joined them, calling Davis.

"Izuku this better be good, you know I'm in a conference meeting." I swallowed the lump in my throat, staring at her pale face as they tried to keep her alive.

"(F/n)... she.. fell into the water." I got out, hearing panic through the phone.

"Which hospital?!" I texted him the address, running my hands over my face as I heard a small groan.

I shot up, seeing (F/n) straining to open her (e/c) eyes. Knowing she would feel scared, I grabbed her hand, rubbing circles with my thumb as she calmed down, looking over at me.

"Iz...u-ku..." Her voice was cracking as she struggled to say my name.

"Don't worry, I'm right here (F/n)." I tried to reassure her, seeing her smile through tears.

1st person POV

I shot up, seeing a white room with yellow flowers and a sleeping Midoriya in the chair next to me.

"Welp, I should've known." I whispered, seeing his nose crinkle a bit before his eyes fluttered open. "Hey sleepyhead."

He shot up from his seat, pulling me into a hug as I laughed at his actions. My laughter died down, feeling wet drops hit my shoulder as he cried.

"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you!" I beamed at him, blushing as he kissed the back of my hand. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I have the biggest concussion I've ever gotten." I squeezed his hand, looking towards the door as a doctor and Davis walked in looking stressed.

"Hi, I'm just here to check how you're doing." The doctor announced as I nodded, turning to Davis as he glanced at the doctor before leaning in close in front of me.

"You're a real fucking handful. The media is losing their shit over what happened at the beach." Davis pulled out a tablet, showing my name with Midoriya's hero name trending in the top with tons of fans posting videos.

I blushed a bit seeing Midoriya blowing air into my mouth before holding my head in slight pain. Flashes of a younger Davis with a sadistic smile appeared in my head looming over me with bloody pliers.

"(F/n)!" I looked up seeing Davis touch my arm as I slapped him away from me, inching closer to Midoriya. "What's wrong?!"

"P-Pliers..." I whimpered out, seeing Davis' expression turn sour for a second before back to concern.

"What? What did you see?!" Midoriya immediately sheltered me as I looked over at the doctor still watching this.

Something about him seemed familiar as I tore my gaze from him to Midoriya.

"Please get me out of here Izuku." He wasted no time, not questioning my plea as he scooped me up and ran out of the hospital.

I saw neither of them following us as we ended up in a park with a small playground and a few benches.

Midoriya plopped me onto the bench and kneeled down, looking at me in the eyes.

"I'm not going to ask why, but are you okay? Please tell me honestly." His eyes were too much for me, and I broke down crying in front of him again.

He pulled me into a hug as I needed it more than anything else. I need him.

His soft coos to calm me down worked like a charm as I fell asleep in his arms.

Izuku's pov

I saw her fragile form shaking like a tree as my body moved to hug her. She didn't push back from me, instead, she leaned closer to me and curled up more to make herself smaller.

I slowly inched her closer to me and shifted so she was around my arms, falling asleep immediately.

I smiled at her sleeping face before noticing a reporter looking around the park. I glared and swiftly stood up, walking to her apartment.

The apartment was very peaceful and quiet as I stepped in, locking the door behind us. She shifted around a bit in my arms before settling.

As I placed her in her bed, the doorbell rang throughout the house repeatedly. Thinking it was a reporter, I stormed up to the door and swung it open before seeing an older woman with features matching (F/n) and Davis.

"A-Are you the hero Davy sent to look after (F/n)?" Her voice sounded a bit concerned as I invited her inside.

"Yes, my name is Midoriya Izuku. I've been asked to look after your daughter as a favor from your son Davis." I quickly made some tea, offering it to her as she smiled.

"How is she doing?" I frowned a bit before smiling at the thought of her drooling in her sleep around now.

"She's doing well. At first it was a bit hard to settle with all the episodes, but she's the strongest person I've ever met."

"Has she been scared of you? She does have a fear of men." I scratched my neck nervously.

"No, from the first time we met to now she's never been scared of me, and sometimes depends on me from time to time. She's awesome..." I trailed off my sentence, taking a sip of tea.

"Midoriya-kun... do you have an interest in my daughter?" I quickly sat the tea down, coughing harshly.

"W-What? N..No! I-just treat her as a little sister!" I exclaimed, blushing as she had a smirk on her face.

"A little sister? Then why do you talk so highly of her?"

"B-Because she deserves it. She's been through so much and can still smile and make jokes like it's no big deal. And when she smiles, it's like the whole world just... freezes for a moment. Her eyes fill with so much happiness I could drown in them forever. And the way her nose crinkles a bit when I make dumb jokes to cheer her up, it's just so hard to explain in words..."

I rambled on, seeing a figure by the wall looking at us. My body froze up as I saw (F/n) with a vibrant red gracing her features.

"Mom, why are you here?" She came into full view as I attempted to drown myself with tea. Her Mother's eyes lit up as she glanced at me before hugging her daughter.

"Just wanted to check up on you for a bit before I go visit your brother. I'll come back a bit later with some food if that's alright with you two." She looked over at me again as I shook my head quickly, collecting the empty tea cups. "Have fun!"

The door slamming echoed through the apartment as I stood there not knowing what to do. Her uncomfortable moving brought me back as I sheepishly smiled.

"She's a very loving mother." I spoke up, seeing her smile before rubbing her arms, a sign that she's uncomfortable. "Wanna just hang out in your room?"

"Sure." We walked to her room in silence as I closed the door behind us. I was a bit stiff before flinching as I felt a smaller body hug me.

"(F/n)?" I turned around to hug her back as she trembled. "What happened?"

"D—"

"Wait. I don't want you to tell me if you're not mentally ready yourself. Please take your time, I won't go anywhere." I gingerly picked her up, placing her onto the (f/c) sheets with a plushie. I quickly grabbed a blanket, sitting next to her and wrapping ourselves in it together.

A small laugh came from her lips, making me a bit self-conscious. "You're very sweet Izuku. For taking care of me even for 3 months now."

"Ah... It's already been 3 months? Felt like I just met you just a few weeks ago." I put my head onto her shoulder, feeling her flinch before laying her own on top of mine. "Men are disgusting."

"Aren't you a Man?" I scoffed at her giggling, knowing I didn't need to explain myself. "...What happened to the other two?"

"Disappeared. Shoto and Ejiro tried to find them after I left with you, but them along with the... other one, they all vanished." I pouted, remembering the situation. "Why did you run away from me?"

"...I didn't want you to see me like that..." I lifted my head a bit to look at her as she avoided eye contact. "I was doing so well, but just a single thing like that, and I'm broken again."

"..." I didn't say anything. I couldn't say anything. She's wrong, but I didn't know how to say it.

I slid my head off of her shoulder, wrapping my arms around her waist as I pressed my head against her stomach. Her fingers slowly raked through my hair as I hummed, falling asleep.

1st person POV

"Izuku?" His light snores and peaceful face relaxed me as I noticed a few dark circles under his eyes. "I'm sorry if I'm worrying you. I'll tell you at one point, so please wait for me."

The doorbell rang out as I gingerly lifted myself away from him, opening the door to see mom with bags of chicken. "Ah, where's your handsome boyfriend?"

"He's not my boyfriend Mom, he's asleep in my room." I let her in as she placed the bags on the table, glancing over at me with a know-it-all look.

"Oh my, how scandalous of you (F/n)! You're not even married yet." I ignored her teasing, going towards my room to see Izuku sitting on the bed looking at the wall.

"Izuku, what's wrong?" He slowly looked over at me with a tired smile, rubbing his eyes.

"Nothing, just couldn't sleep." I smiled back, turning to the side.

"Want some chicken? My mom came back with a lot, so I don't really think you have any say in if you want to join us or not."

After an awkward conversation between all three of us, it was getting late and time for mom to head back to her hotel.

"I'll be staying for two more days, and I'd love for Izuku-chan to join me sometime." I glanced behind me at Izuku as he showed a heartwarming smile, bowing towards her. "(F/n), you better hold on tight and don't let go."

I laughed at her warning, pulling her into a hug. "Got it, see you tomorrow mom."

"Izuku make sure she's always protected!" My face exploded as she quickly slammed the door before I could shout at her.

"What did she mean by that?" I couldn't form words as I walked towards my room, knowing Izuku was following. "Hey, (F/n), what--"

"No more questions, when was the last time you slept a full eight to nine hours?" His body went rigid as I waited for a number.

"M-Maybe two months ago or so?" I gawked at him, lightly pushing at his chest as he plopped onto the bed.

"Okay, it's my turn to make sure you're healthy. I'm not getting one wink of sleep until you fall asleep." I covered both of us underneath the blankets, watching his face as he turned red.

"If you stare at me like that it's impossible to sleep!" I hummed, putting his head on my chest and wrapping my arms around his head, raking my fingers through his hair again. "W-What are you doing?!"

"You're fine, I'm fine. Go to sleep, I'll be right here." He didn't retort, quietly wrapping his arms around my waist.

Within a few seconds, I heard light snoring as I smiled to myself, falling asleep after him.
