4| Phobos' Dark Past

Yin's POV 🌺

"Fine by me then...." Phobos replied before turning his back to me for the second time already.

In response, I immediately pulled out a Sticky glob and hurled it, hitting him by the back of his head and neck real hard, stunning him as it did so.

Then I returned him to his pokéball and putted it away while I huffed a little in anger.

Sighing before calming myself down a little, I decided to walk with Luna instead.

Even though I know she's a low level pokémon, at least she's higher than a level 2 Bidoof, Starly, Shinx, and some of the other pokémon that I haven't mentioned.

Taking her out, I got down to her level and explained what happened between me and Phobos, before mentioning why I wanted to walk with her, which she understood easily.

Then I picked her up gently and carried her in my arms, softly hugging her at the same time as well, as I walked with her.

"Your older brother is such a jerk." I say as I pouted while I continued holding Luna in my arms.

"Yeah. I'm really sorry he was like that to you...He's usually a kind, gentle giant and mostly gets along well with others a lot." Luna replies as she looked at me.

"But, why does he gotta be a major pain in the butt towards me? I haven't done anything wrong and I was only being kind enough to give him mercy, along with catching him so he'd be reunited with you guys." I went, still having a pout on my face.

"He may not trust and will actually say some really mean things to you, but, I know he's got that soft spot in him somewhere." Luna replies.

"He's just leery about humans, since there are some bad ones out there.

Even though he knows there are some good humans out there too, like you, he mostly keeps his guard up. I'm not sure what caused him to change, but because of an incident that happened to him, he doesn't seem to like them at all now."

"Incident?" I went before tilting my head to the side a little as I gave her a questioned look.

"Yeah. I dunno what happened though. Nightmare might tell you, since he knows more about it than me." She says.

"Alright...I'll ask Nightmare about it later, once we're finished with Mesprit's trial and he's fully recovered from the injuries." I reply next before smiling a bit and petting Luna lightly, making her smile cutely in response.

Then I returned Luna to her pokéball once we made it to Lake Verity.

After defeating the pokémon that was guarding and protecting Mesprit, I stepped forward and shared my emotions with the lake guardian.

To be honest, I started to wonder if Mesprit was like the pokémon version of a therapist for us and other pokémon as well, because after I shared my emotions with it and completed the trial, I felt a lot more better than how I felt earlier.

Like a ton of weight was lifted off of my shoulders.

"Well, this trial was really easy. Same level as Uxie's trial too." I say as I walked over to Adaman, while putting Mesprit's feather away with my stuff.

"I guessed so." Adaman replied. "C'mon. Let's go tell Volo and Cogita our progress."

Nodding in response, I left the cave with him and gave the other two our update on getting the required items in obtaining the red chain.

- - -

After we were informed the situation that was happening back at Jubilife village, Adaman and I both knew that we better hurry and speed things up before things get worse than earlier.

At the same time I knew our final stop and trial is Lake Valor, meaning it's in Crimson Mirelands and close to the Diamond clan settlement where Adaman's normally at.

Without hesitation, I traveled there without any problems, and was walking up the trail with Nightmare beside me, now that he's fully recovered from his injuries.

While we were walking, I suddenly remembered Luna mentioning to me about Phobos and the accident that happened to him in his past, that Nightmare mostly seems to know more about.

"Hey, Nightmare?" I began.

"Yeah?"

"Remember how I told you and Luna what happened between me and your elder brother, Phobos?"

"Mm-hm...What about it?"

Then I explained to him what Luna told me.

"Oh...The incident that happened to Phobos, huh? Not surprised that you don't know since you've never met us until now, before all of this distortion thing happened." He went.

"Yeah. What happened anyways that made him dislike humans like me?" I asked.

"Well, when Phobos was my age and old enough to survive on his own, before he became an alpha, he actually met and fell for a human girl who was a lot like you, when I was only a zorua." Nightmare began.

"Wha-?! He fell for a human?! Out of all the things, I literally thought he'd fall for another zoroark...I was never expecting that." I say in shock and surprise.

"Nobody didn't expect it. Even I didn't." He says.

"But, because we were supposed to avoid or kill any human that gets near us or our territory, he and the human decide to secretly meet up at a place that they only know, which is Snowpoint Temple.

From there, they hung out and interacted with each other while sharing some of the berries they found and got from the berry trees.

They got to know more about themselves too and had even kissed each other before, during all of this."

"Wow...They must've liked each other that much." I thought.

"Eventually, they had kids together. A human girl and a zorua. Even though it normally isn't possible for a human female to birth a pokémon, it still happened.

But, things went to the dark side when the kids were only 8 years old.

The clan somehow got wind of their relationship and tried to kill the human daughter and the mother, only they failed while Phobos succeeded in getting his family away for their own safety.

Unfortunately, he found out later that the zorua was the one who ended up dying by the mother's own kind when she returned to the village that she was born and raised in.

Even when she was about to leave the village, she was killed as well, protecting the human daughter with her life.

Blinded by his own rage and still suffering from the loss over the two members of his family that he loved dearly, Phobos went on a massacre towards the village that took the zorua and his spouse's life, bathing in the blood from his own injuries and his enemies'."

"Damn...Talk about someone going ape shit over the loss of your wife and pokémon child." I thought again, feeling bad for Phobos while I was pretty horrified what he did.

"When the massacre ended, Phobos just raised the human child all by himself afterwards, until she was 15, before sending her off to the Diamond Clan without them knowing that he's her father." He finished.

"So, a member of the diamond clan is a hybrid of human and hisuian Zoroark by blood, huh?" I went, after silence stretched between us for a moment.

"Yeah. Her hair color is pretty obvious, but in the eyes of the clan, they think she dyed her hair white and red before meeting them and becoming a member, since she's a teenager. They even thought her red eyes were colored contacts." Nightmare replies.

"I actually spotted a member of the clan, you mentioned, that has a hisuian Zoroark with her and also perfectly matched your description..." I mentioned.

"You don't think she's the same hybrid-by-blood child you mentioned to me about, do you?"

"Probably...But, we can either ask Adaman or come up and talk to her later. Right now, we got something to deal with." Nightmare responds before pointing at the distorted red sky and the green clouds above us.

I nodded in agreement to that before returning him to his pokéball, once we were close to Lake Valor.

- - -

After finishing the last trial, obtaining the red chain, telling Cyllene what our solution is to the problem and defeating Kamado in a pokémon battle, we went up to the Temple of Sinnoh to put a stop to the source of the problem and change the sky back to normal.

Unfortunately, Dialga was not the source of the problem to why the sky was distorted and red, because not only if it was part of the problem, it wouldn't have came to us and told me to battle and catch it.

Palkia was mostly the cause of the problem, since Adaman told us that Dialga telepathically mentioned to him to that it wants to be added to my team.

Understanding what Dialga has the intention in doing, I swapped out Phobos just for the time being until I put a stop to the chaos Palkia is causing and then catch it with the Origin Ball that was recently made.

As I stepped out with Adaman, Irida, and the others before they went on ahead, I got myself prepared and everything ready for my battle against Palkia at the the temple of Sinnoh.

But, before I was about to leave, I glanced over at the pastures, seeing that Phobos is out of his pokéball and minding his own business, before I walked over to talk to him for a moment.

As expected, his back was facing towards me, once he noticed me approaching.

"What do you want? Came here to try to be miss goodie two shoes again?" He says as I stood there.

"No." I replied. "I just wanna tell you something before I leave to fight Palkia."

After I said that, silence in the air stretched between us for a moment.

"That sounds like you're off your rocker, going up against a powerful legendary pokémon like it and Dialga." Phobos says, breaking the silence.

"Yeah. I know. But, Palkia's also in a frenzy as well. If I don't quell it and then catch it, the world would end as we speak." I replied.

"But, that's not why I'm here to talk to you about for a moment..."

Silence again.

"What then?" He went, breaking the silence again.

"Luna mentioned to me about why you're like this. The attitude you still have towards me, and your hatred towards humanity." I say.

"Nightmare also told me the incident that happened to you as well, before you became an alpha."

"And I regret every single bit of it for falling in love with a human." Phobos replied bitterly.

"That's not - " I began.

"Shut up! That's what anybody would say! That it's not true at all and that I still deeply love and care about my mate, and my daughter inside my heart, no matter what!" He interrupted me, as I could see tears appearing and running down to the sides of his face.
