Snow days are fun days

Tucker sighed and sat on the ground next to Sam. He sent Leroy a wary glance. The monster blinked at them, having been woken up, realized they weren't his human and stood up. Tucker humphed at the monster's reatreating form but smiled when Cujo barked him a greeting.

Tucker and Sam sat quietly as they watched the students skating around and talking. Most were getting bored and it wouldn't be long before they decided to go to that ice house.

Tucker snorted at the sight of Richard on a yeti's back as they speeded past, followed by Chelsea, who wanted on too, and Melissa, who was trying to stop Chelsea from going on. "How do you think it's going to be when we get back?"

"Mmh?" Sam glanced at him before shifting her gaze to where he was looking. "Oh. Well, I'm going to miss our old trio."

"Yeah," Tucker sighed, "our tight little group was great. It's gonna get cramped with so many extra poeple."

"But if they actually keep their promise. You know, about keeping our secret and helping us out ghost hunting. If they keep it, it will help us. Especially Danny. Hopefully he won't worry about them too much, though."

"Hopefully they can take care of themselves or Danny is gonna mother hen them to ghostness." Tucker chuckled and Sam snorted.

"You mean the other way around." Sam gestured towards the group. "It's them who are gonna worry the heck outa him."

"How can you not."

Sam nodded and they stayed quiet for a moment, thinking about how even though Danny is the one with the powers and who keeps protecting them and the most durable, the boy practically begs others to protect him. Not literally of course. He always tries not to bother others with his problems. But with such a face and such a heart, you would have to be evil to not wanna wrap him up in blankets and shoot anyone who comes five feet near.

Sam smiled. Now that he was her boyfriend, she'd have more safeguarding rights. Her smile widened when she realized something. "He won't have to worry about his parents anymore."

Tucker gasped. "Oh that's right! That's a relief. Also, Mr Lancer knows. You know what that means."

Sam and Tucker smiled happily as they said: "No more detentions."

Tucker puffed his cheeks as he sighed deeply. "Man, so many problems have been solved now."

Sam nodded and frowned, as if shocked. "This trip was good for something after all."

"If we ignore all the near death experiences."

"We always ignore those."

They were interrupted by Dorian, who flew up to them. "Hey! We're going to the house. Care to join us?"

The last of the trio smiled and stood up, following the others.

About an hour later Danny could be seen flying on his back with his hands behind his head and a camera floating after him. He had his eyes closed as he felt around at the ectoplasm.

He sensed a rock up ahead and changed direction to avoid it, the camera following suit. Danny smiled excitedly. Every new power he got was amazing. The surprises they gave him never got old.

He felt the cold of the Far Frozen getting nearer and his eyes cracked open. He flipped over, his eyes raking over the vast lair, searching for his friends.

Finally he found them surrounding a small igloo-like house and working around like ants. He took a moment to admire the shittiness that was their ice house. It seemed like they had had a disagreement on how to make it and now it looked like Hello Kitty had barfed on Pariah's castle.

Danny snorted quietly before shifting his gaze to the students and yetis working around it and talking to each other as they argued which bow tie should go where and how the skull at the entrance should have horns. Danny spotted Dani and slowly a grin formed on his face.

He turned invisible, dropping the camera on top of Tucker first, who yelped in surprise and delight, before flying towards his future sister. Then he dropped off a ton of snow on her, accidentally getting Damian too. "Oopsie."

The pile of snow shifted as Damian stood up with a scowl. He inmediately pinpointed the source of the prank and narrowed his eyes.

Danny squeaked when a big snowball was thrown at him and he barely dodged. He laughed when Dani screached in delight and yelled: "Get him!"

Before he knew it there was a crowd of maniac teens chasing after him with white fluffy granades in their hands.

They spent most of the afternoon having snowball wars with yeti teens, who had long since abandoned the ice house and joined in.

They had a lot of fun and, as is globally known and despised, time flies when you're having fun. Before they knew it the yetis were called in by their parents to go eat dinner.

The teens sighed and decided to go to the great hall and see if they could meet up with Danny's parents, who had gone to explore more about the lair and the ghosts (as their curiosity in all things ghostly would never fade).

It was much more empty now that everyone was eating dinner at their own homes, but a yeti named Hypothermia (yes, that is a yeti name) beckoned them to have a seat and make themselves comfortable as she readied the food.

Even though the feasting hall was much more empty than the last meal they had had there, the hum of conversations still filled the silence quite nicely.

Finally Richard put down the spoon he'd been holding and sighed, satisfied. "I'm so full."

"Took you long enough," Melissa grumbled.

"Yeah," Star chimed in. "You're one of the last ones and I'm tired."

Maddie stood. "Finish up so we can go to the Fenton Space Craft and get to bed. Tomorrow we'll be getting back to the human plane so make sure to get a good night's sleep." She smiled as the students started stacking their plates and handing them to Hypothermia. She turned her head to find Jack still at the table next to her. "Jack, stop eating. I know you have a big metabolism but this is ridiculous."

Jack only grinned, but obeyed her and joined the teens in cleaning.

Before long they were leaving to the ship, having already said their goodnights to the yetis. Now they were boarding as some others tried to encourage Danny to step in too.

"It's turned off. It's not gonna hurt you anymore!" Tucker waved his arm in the ship's direction, but Danny still hesitated.

"I can just sleep outside," the boy offered uncertainly before a grin broke his face. "The cold never bothered me anyway."

There were a few groans and snickers but Maddie shook her head. "I'm not letting you sleep outside, sweetie. No matter if you can't catch a cold, it's not a good place to sleep and I want know where you are."

Danny sighed, already knowing his mom would be very overbearing on him when they got back. "I don't know."

There was a collective sigh.

Sam stepped forward and sidehugged the nervous boy. "Come on, Danny. Let's go in together. If you feel anything weird tell me and we'll go sleep with Dorian and the others." Danny's cousins had long left to their own room.

Danny pursed his lips but took a deep breath. "Ok then." He walked forward, Sam holding an arm to his back and giding him forward, encouraging him.

Danny cautiously stepped up to the ship, ignoring everyone's comments and trying to ignore his own anxiety. He focused on Sam's arm still wrapped around him and before he knew it, he was in the doorway, already taking a step inside. He looked around slowly, remembering what had transpired here. The only other time he'd been in here after the...unfortunate event, was when he (both hes) was distracted and worried about what was happening to Pandora's people.

Danny's eyes found his previous seat, easily seeing the ripped seatbelt tucked in the corner. He sucked in a deep breath. He'd gone through a lot of traumas in his life and he'd gotten over them eventually. He could do this.

Suddenly two arms were wrapped around his middle as he was hugged from behind. Danny turned to see Sam looking up at him. They were almost the same height but only because she wore such high heeled combat boots. Her eyes were inspecting his expression as she let a smile grace her lips.

Danny felt himself relax as he looked at her. He couldn't help but notice how different she looked without her makeup on, which she almost always used only not now because they had other problems to worry about and there had been little time (even Paulina had put only lipstick that day).

Danny looked at her dark purple eyes that held no more eyeshadow and her pale lips with no more purple or black lipstick. No eyeliner or any of that craziness girls put around their eyes. It was now also visible that Sam's cheeks were slightly rosier without all the pale foundation and the skin under her eyes was darker. Danny smiled. He especially loved that nose piercing she'd gotten a year ago and hadn't taken off since. She looked gorgeous. People may think makeup makes you pretty, but that's not it at all. It can't make something beautiful out of nothing, it can only enhance the beauty that is already there. And to Danny's eyes, Sam was the most beautiful girl in the world.

"Are you done? I kind wanna sleep and you're blocking the entrance."

The lovebirds snapped out of their stare, but didn't even look back to see their friends' smug faces.

Danny blushed and turned around, but was stopped by Sam suddenly gripping him tighter and giving him a kiss. She pulled away and smirked. "Go on ahead, ghost boy. I'll be right here."

Danny blushed even more and it almost looked like his head was glowing, but a grin broke out. "I know. You always are."

They moved their way back so the others could get in too and the ship filled as teens shuffled around, ready to plop down and sleep.

Maddie went towards an unsure Danny. "Have you picked a bed to sleep in yet?"

Her son looked at her surprised. "But I thought I was sleeping in the cockpit." He grinned. "Does this mean you aren't angry about Tucker anymore?"

"Oh. I'm still upset about that." Maddie quickly shot down his hope. "You shouldn't have smuggled him in, scaring his parents and disobeying me so openly. However, given that this most likely falls under the I'm-a-halfa-with-secrets category, I'll let it pass."

Danny laughed and ran a hand through his hair nervously. "It actually falls under the I'm-an-angsty-teen-who-needs-friends-to-function category."

Maddie smiled fondly at him. "Which is just as important." She glanced at Tucker and Sam, who were readying their beds next to each other and stealing curious glances at Danny and his mom. Maddie's smile widened. "I haven't said this yet, Danny, but I'm proud of you." Her son's eyes widened in shock and slight disbelief, as if he couldn't understand the words in that statement. Maddie chuckled. "I'm very proud of you, sweetie. And of your friends too. I'm so very glad you've made friends like them."

Danny's eyes were filling with tears at her words. He laughed quietly. "Yeah, they're great partners in crime," he joked. He made a small sound in surprise when his mom pulled him into a hug. He tensed briefly but quickly buried his head in the crook of her shoulder.

Maddie's own eyes were tearing now as she thought of what her son had become. A hero at seventeen. She recalled all the adventures he had told them of and all the others he had experienced and will experience in the future. How much more would he accomplish along with his friends? All she knew for sure was that her and Jack would be there to help him. She was extremely grateful for Sam and Tucker, for being with him and not letting him endure all that on his own. And now he had a whole class andere teacher and her and Jack to support him.

The class around them paused to look at the scene. Some smiled while others snorted quietly.

Dash would've said something along the lines of 'momma's boy' had it not been for three reasons: that boy was his idol, that mom could snap him in half, and he was a sucker for relationship (all those telenovelas had to teach him something). He smiled excitedly as Paulina resisted an 'awwww'.

Danny pulled away when it started feeling a bit awkward. He quickly wiped a few tears away and gave his mom a wobbly smile. He'd been longing so long for her to say those words.

Maddie smiled and ruffled his hair. "Now, go find a bed. We have a long day tomorrow and you need to get a good night's sleep."

Danny nodded and ran to back, blushing a bit when he realized the others had been there to witness this bonding moment.

Tucker gave him a wink and Sam smiled at him. Both happy for their friend.

Danny grinned, giddiness making him bounce on his feet. He felt so light. "Mom let me sleep next to you guys."

"Sweet!" Tucker looked around only for his face to fall. "But there are no beds left here. Were are you going to sleep?"

Danny frowned. Tuck was right. Where was he supposed to sleep?

Suddenly Sam grabbed his arm. She stuttered a bit when he turned to look at her curiously. "You could...you could sleep with me?"

Danny's eyes widened and he took a step back. "I uh wait. No, I mean. You're a girl...and-"

"Not like that!" Sam blushed furiously as Tucker snickered in the background. "We aren't going to do that anytime soon. So don't get any ideas, mister."

"No, of course not." Danny sighed in relief. "So we just. Lay there.... Is it big enough?" He changed the subject quickly.

They both glanced at the bed with scrunched up eyebrows.

"I think so?" Danny sat down at the edge. "We won't have that much space, though," he stated tentavely, looking up at Sam. She shrugged and sat down too. She started kicking her feet subconsciously. "I'm sure it will be alright."

Danny nodded and they sat in silence for a few seconds. Danny stood up quickly. "Well. I'll just go and change." He went to stand in line for the bathroom.

Thirty minutes later, Maddie was readying the seat in the cockpit to get ready to sleep in it. She stood up and stretched, deciding to check up on the students. She walked to the back to see most in bed already. Mikey was still waiting in line and Melissa was packing some of her stuff up for tomorrow. Some kids were already sleeping while others were still up and talking to each other in hushed tones.

Maddie blinked when she saw that the front bed was empty. She frowned. Where was Danny if not in that bed?

"Mr. Lancer?" She halfturned to ask the teacher when she paused at the sight of the snoring man. Maddie sighed and tucked at her pyama. She went to look for him herself. The woman passed by her husband, who wasn't snoring as loudly as he usually did. She'd searched online for things that could prevent this because she knew nobody would be able to get a good sleep with Jack snoring up a storm.

Maddie carefully stepped through the small pathway in between the beds filled with sleeping teens. Her eyes flitting around until she found the mop of black hair that belonged to her son. Her eyes widened at the sight.

Danny and Sam were squished together in one bed.

The mother frowned. These beds weren't made for two people! She was about to wake them up before she saw their positions. Danny had his arms crossed over his stomach and was laying on his back and Sam had curled in on herself facing away from the boy.

Maddie smiled. They were using two different blankets! She sighed defeatedly. Her son was a responsible boy and Sam was not the kind of girl to go too far before anything even began. She'd rather they wait until they married, but if they didn't it was their own choice. She would be sad and disappointed, true, but it was her son's own decision. And they would have to bear the consequences.

Maddie shook her head as she walked away. She was making way too much out of this. Danny and Sam needed each other's warmth and comfort right now. Besides, it wasn't like they weren't surrounded by teens and adults.

The woman froze when she saw another pair cuddled up in one bed. Dash and Paulina were holding on to each other like it was the end of the world. Maddie sighed, deciding she was too tired for this. She shook her head as she moved her stuff back to her own bed and closed her eyes.

Young love was beautiful.

I am...................................................................not dead.

So, sorry and all that jazz. dont know why it took me so long. and now not even anything exciting happens. Of course Danny and Sam arent going to be at Dashina's stage yet. they barley started dating, its bound to be awkward. But hey! Awkward is fun.

Anyway im thinking of erasing all of my author's notes when i finish the book. It's not like anyone reads it anyway and i dont wnt to bother yall newbies with my emotional struggles throughout the book.
