Fenton shivered as he flew deeper in the contaminated aura. Something nagged at him concerning the aura but his mind was set on getting to the sick.

He heard his parents and a few other classmates flying behind him. The ship made its way through the pillars slowly. Tucker took care not to bump into anything.

Fenton somehow found the room again, ignoring all the cries of surprise coming from passing ghosts.

He burst through the doors. "Pandora!!"

The woman jumped startled. "Daniel! Why are you here. I was under the impression only your parents would be here. You know the infection affects all ghosts."

Danny brushed passed her and inspected one of the squirming ghosts. "Agafya! Are you ok? Do they have a cure yet?"

Agafya, who looked to be half the height she used to be before, glanced at Fenton and smiled. "Daisuke...do not worry. I will be alright."

Fenton sighed and held her hand. It felt crusty and dry. Agafya flinched and tried to pull away but Fenton brought it closer to his face, inspecting it.

"You mustn't touch me, Daniel," she said worriedly.

Pandora held his shoulders as the Fenton parents approached.

Fenton shook his head. "The Phantom you saw wasn't a clone. He.....he's my ghost half."

Pandora blinked. "You are fully human now?"

Fenton nodded. "So I probably won't be affected. Hey mom, dad? Can you see if we can do anything?"

Jack immediately leaned forward. His eyebrows were scrunched together as he poked Agafya in different places, earning yelps from the woman. Jack hummed.

"What?" Fenton asked curiously.

Jack grinned. "This is a ghost!"

Maddie sighed as Fenton deflated. She turned to Pandora, looking up at her. "Have you found a cure for this yet?"

Pandora shook her head in desperation. "Last time this happened half the Ghost Zone was affected before we could cut it off. As far as we know, it eats away at our body until it reaches our core. If the poor soul doesn't fade away by then, it chips away at the core's energy until nothing is over."

There was a shocked silence. Nobody said anything until Pandora took a shaky breath.

"All we can do is make them as comfortable as we can and if they won't make it.....end it before it reaches their core. We have done everything we could to restrain the Eduqa but I fear it might be the start of another epidemic."

Fenton shivered and held Agafya's hand tighter. He bit his lip. "How long has it been?"

Pandora hesitated, but eventually the answer escaped her lips. "Two months."

"How many?"

Pandora didn't answer that. She shook her head.

Fenton scowled as tears threatened to fall. "How many, Pandora?"

She locked his helpless eyes with her sorrow filled ones. "We must not dwell on the losses. We must work to save what can we saved."

Maddie nodded firmly. "She's right, Danny. (It's not a typo she just forgets to call him Fenton) We need to figure out a way to help them and that means to keep our minds straight and not lose focus."

Fenton took a deep breath. He nodded. "You're right. I'm sorry Pandora. It must have been so hard for you."

The woman only nodded and looked at Daniel's parents expectantly.

Jack brought out a weird contraption that vaguely resembled a microscope and held it close to Agafya's arm after consent from said ghost.

Fenton fidgeted as his parents worked. He opened and closed his mouth a few times trying to help. "Maybe......maybe we could use the Ecto Dejecto or a pill. Sam still has some I think."

Maddie shook her head. "It will only help for a few minutes but it only works to give the virus, which is what I think this infection is, more energy to eat."

Jack finished for her. "The nasty bug will grow stronger. We need to weaken it."

Pandora looked surprised. "How did you figure this out. We had tried it out thinking it would make better defenses against the Eduqa but..."

"We're ghost scientists." Jack grinned proudly. "We specialize on these things."

Pandora shook her head as if wondering how crazy a human had to be to dedicate their short lives on ghosts. "You should be ghost medics."

Maddie pursed her lips, not looking away from her work. "That would only work if we find a cure."

Fenton groaned. "If I had my ghost half I could be able to use my frost and heal them. Why didn't you call me two months ago!"

Pandora sighed. "No. It would affect your ghost half. We do not know what Eduqa does to the human body if half of it is ghostly. Although you have unique abilities, that would not help our case if you are sick too."

Fenton kept quiet after that. He looked on as his parents worked silently, occasionally mumbling.

"Interesting." Maddie pursed her lips in thought. "It affects ectoplasm directly."

"What?" Pandora asked in confusion.

Maddie clarified. "This...Eru Eka..."

"Eduqa," Fenton corrected amused.

His mom shook her head. "This disease seems to infect ectoplasm. It's not a ghostly disease. It's an ectoplasmic infection."

"And the difference is..?"

"Everything and anything with ectoplasm is altered. Ghosts, animals, vegetation..."

Fenton gasped. "Air."

Maddie paused. "Yes air in the Ghost Zone should be affected too. I'm not sure. I will have to run some tests before we can..."

Fenton wasn't listening. For the first time since coming here he concentrated on the ectoplasm around him and realized why everything felt so wrong. The very air they were breathing was contaminated too. All around them...it seemed like a whole nest of pests was thriving in this room. He decided to extent his powers and found more bad air around Pandora's kingdom. It was even reaching out to other lairs like yellow slithery tendrils of pure evil.

The boy acted on instinct. If this pest spreads any further, it would cover a big part of the Ghost Zone and most ghosts would be 'dying' before they would even realize what was happening.

Fenton thrust his arms out, eyes focused and body tense.

Maddie paused. She stared in confusion at Fenton's abrupt, and strange, interruption. "Danny?"

Suddenly Aesop came running in. "Queen Pandora! We are being attacked!"

The Queen frowned. Aesop was very paranoid and when the strangest things happened he would always jump to conclusions. She threw Daniel a glance. The young man hadn't moved and seemed focused on something. "What makes you say that?" she asked her servant.

Aesop gestured for her to come and she followed, leaving the scientists to figure out what their son was messing with now.

She was met with a strange sight. The Ghost Zone's air wasn't moving the way it should (randomly). All around her kingdom and a bit beyond it the air seemed to be rushing towards her. No, not towards her. Towards the hospital.

Pandora watched it pass her and leave behind a wave of fresh ectoplasm. The Queen took a deep breath, savoring in the coolness and the strength it gave her. She was curious, though, and followed the current. She ignored Aesop as he fretted and worried about the patients but he quickly shut up when the sight of a bright yellow shining ceiling above the patients met their gaze.

Fenton was scowling up at it, as if scolding the air for wandering of.

Another woman scrunched her eyebrows at the roof. "What happened? What is that?"

"Eduqa," Fenton answered and everyone turned to look at him. "It affects ectoplasm right? That's how it spreads. Through the air." He closed his eyes, face scrunched comically.

Nobody dared to speak and an awkward silence filled the room. No one wanting to interrupt whatever the boy was doing.

Then they noticed a trickle of yellow seep in through the windows and doors and join the rest of the little pests. Finally Fenton opened his eyes and took a deep breath. "I'm pretty sure that's all of them. There were a bunch more by the stables but I don't know what to do with them because the animals are just gonna make more." He felt way more relaxed now that that nagging feeling at the back of his brain was gone and he knew this couldn't spread as long as he had it contained. It shouldn't take much energy to keep all that ectoplasm in one place.

"Whoa." Richard, who was one of the many that had left the ship, stared at the glittering ceiling in wonder. "It's beautiful."

"It's dangerous," Fenton corrected. "I don't know what to do with it now, though. I can't keep it there forever..."

Jack snapped his head up so fast it probably gave him whiplash. "That's it." He grinned an jumped up from his crouched position. "That's it, Danny. That's what we can do!"

Maddie tried to calm her excited husband. "What? What have you got in mind, Jack?"

The man pointed at a startled Fenton. "He can do it. Danny-boy can heal them."

"What?! How!" Fenton threw his hands down in frustration.

Jack put his hands on the boy's shoulders. "You can manipulate ectoenergy, right Danno?" He gestured towards the ceiling.

Maddie smiled brightly at her husband. "That's a great idea, Jack." She handed him a cookie which he happily ate.

Fenton frowned. "But- how. What do my powers have to do with this?"

Jack spoke through the cookie he was munching. "U cun alser secshopasm."

Pandora blinked at the flying crumbs and Fenton frowned. "What?"

Maddie smiled brightly at the boy. "You would be able to alter the ectoplasm in their bodies with your new powers."

Fenton gasped, elated at something he could do to help. Then he deflated, biting his lip. "But I don't know how or even what to do. I haven't had them for long."

Pandora looked between them in confusion. "Excuse me?" One of her arms pointed at the yellow stuff. "Was that part of your new powers?"

Fenton held up a hand in response. The ectoplasm above it started humming and swirling, responding to his every command. He decided to show them just what he could do with this new ability besides making it move at his will. Maybe his parents will find something truly useful.

He let it heat up, simultaneously lighting it up. He pushed all the particles so close together that they couldn't move due to the low concentration and it cooled down, also solidifying. He let it go and the solid ectoplasmic sphere fell to the ground as if it was a rock. Then he made the particles have more space and move around each other slowly, thus liquidifying the rock. Fenton allowed the particles to disperse and they joined in with the rest of the air. He explained it to the expectators (a few other ghosts he knew had joined in too along with his classmates). "I can basically control anything ectoplasmic and turn it into any state at all except...I can't make it cold. Maybe when me and Phantom join back together we can work on combining the two powers." Fenton trailed off, deep in thought. He snapped out of it when he remembered something. "Oh. I can also make some gooey stuff that's like glue and confetti."

A ghost woman blinked. "Confetti?"

Fenton demonstrated and laughed at her face when she was covered in glitter. She frowned. "But could you not make explosions with the same method?"

Fenton stopped. "That's a great idea. I'll look into that later. Anyways mom, dad, anything you could use?"

Dad nodded, smiling like a squeming chesire cat. "It's perfect."

"So what do I need to do?" The boy's eyes switched between his parents as they explained their plan and what Fenton could do. The boy wasn't so sure.

"I'm not that skilled in controlling these new powers. I only have this much control on moving ectoplasm because I've had telekinesis before. So much could go wrong. I could just make it worse!"

Pandora put a hand on his shoulder. "Then practice. You can start small. We have cattle that have caught the sickness too."

Fenton bit his lip, he wasn't too queen on killing off animals either but he nodded anyways and was led away to the stables.

Sam is going to kill me.
