Ectofilters

This is probably what danny looks like in this book. Idk

Danny suddenly realised how hard it was getting for him to breathe. His breath hitched and he felt weaker than normal. He groaned and slumped in his seat.

This wasn't good.

Meanwhile the students had been attented to. A few had been injured by Skulker's traps, but most only had scratches.

Richard had fallen asleep the minute he sat down. Not even bothering to bring out the bed. Kwan took pity on him and picked him up. He pushed the button and the bed rolled out. He dumped the boy in.

Others brought their beds out too. Food had been eaten and thrown away. There was a line to the bathroom again.

Maddie smiled from where she looked at the students. They were falling right into the routine. And it was only the second 'night'. She noticed Danny hadn't eaten anything and looked rather pale.

"Danny sweetie?"

He jumped.

"Are you feeling alright? How's your arm?"

He took a deep breath and smiled at her. "I'm fine mom. It's nothing." He picked up his fork and started eating.

She noticed a towel on his lap and picked it up. It was dirty with blood. She pursed her lips, knowing it was from her son. "I'll throw this away. Eat up and go to sleep. You've earned it."

Danny nodded meekly and took a bite. Then he realised how hungry he was and shoved more in his mouth. Soon the plate was clean. He licked the crumbs off the plate.

"I see you liked the food."

Danny looked up to see Sam standing above him. Two plates in her hands.

He licked his lips. "Yeah."

She handed him her other plate and he grinned. He didn't bother with the fork and grabbed the potatoes with his hands and shoved it in his mouth.

Sam looked away disgusted. Tucker met her gaze and he winked. She rolled her eyes.

"Thanks, Sam." Danny swallowed his last bite and licked the plate clean. "I was hungry for some reason."

"Well, it is kind of late to eat dinner. In the Human Zone it's eleven in the night."

Danny nodded. He stood up and threw away his two plates and chucked the water down. "I have to tell you something, Sam."

Sam paused. What was he going to say? It wasn't....

"The filters on the ship are stronger now."

Sam was slightly disappointed. "Oh."

He sat back down. He called out to Tucker. "You got any further with the filters?" He asked in Ghost.

Tucker shook his head. "Didn't have much time remember. Too busy running from hunters and escaping jail."

Danny chuckled. "Welcome to my world."

"You've never been in jail?"

"If you count all the traps and prisons I've been put in, I'd say every day."

Sam pushed Tucker to his bed. "Whatever. Time to go to bed. We need to get ready for whatever life throws at us tomorrow."

Danny sighed and stood up. He went to the seat in the cockpit. Another wonderful sleep in the seat. He paused before sitting down.

"Mom?"

"Yes, sweety," she answered from the back.

"Can you turn off the seatbelt or something? I don't want to sleep strapped all night again."

Maddie appeared in the doorway. "You mean you've slept with the seatbelt on yesterday? Why didn't you say anything?" She clicked something under the seat.

Danny rubbed his neck. "I uuuh. Didn't really want to bother you."

Maddie glanced at him and stood back up. "Oh....well it's off now."

"Wait. What did you do? I want to be able to do this on my own."

"Just flip the disk on the right under the seat. It says 'on' on one side and 'off' on the other. If it's on, it will automatically fasten itself around you when it feels a pressure on the stool. Go to sleep now."

Danny nodded and yawned. He plopped down on the seat.

Maddie was about to leave when she leaned back in. "You brushed your teeth right? And aren't you going to change into your pajamas?"

The boy groaned. "Mooooom"

"Danny, that's unhygenic. Go change and brush your teeth."

He sighed and stood up.

Six minutes later he was back in his seat. He'd spent most of the time in line for the bathroom but finally made it.

Danny shuffled around and got comfortable. He closed his eyes. His breathing was still ragged. The filters were getting stronger. There were probably not as many filters inside the ship as there are outside. He wondered how Leroy was doing.

His eyes snapped open. What was he going to do about Leroy!? A ghost had to sleep didn't it?

He looked out. The ship had stopped and hung still in the air. Leroy was settling down on a floating rock a few meters from the ship. Danny sighed in relief. It was far enough...he hoped. He'd have to check on him later.

He lay back down again and soon enough he was snoring. Tired of the events and excitement in the day.

The windows shut, engulfing the ship in darkness.

"DANNY!!" Danny jumped awake, startled.

He fell out of his chair and bumped against the console, finally flopping on the ground. He groaned in pain.

"So. Finally decided to wake up?"

He looked up to see Tucker with his hands on his hips.

The halfa tried to push himself up but quickly gave up and snuggled on the ground. His eyes closed again.

He was kicked in the stomach and the air was stolen from him. "No! Don't go to sleep again. I've been trying to wake you up for hours. I'm not letting all that time go to waste. Common. Stand up."

Danny rubbed his stomach and frowned at his friend. He mumbled annoyed and pushed himself up. He felt so tired and weak. What was going on?

He leaned on the console but yelped. His arm felt numb. Like it had fallen asleep. He was so jealous.

He stumbled his way to the back, clothes in his good arm. Everyone was already up and awake. Even dressed. Danny was confused. He'd slept for that long?

He made his way to the bathroom. There wasn't even a line!! He dressed up and splashed his face. He looked at his reflection.

He looked so pale. Even paler than before. Almost as pale as his ghost half. He didn't get it. He'd missed hours of sleep before. He'd gotten through the day just fine with no sleep at all. Why did he feel like a newborn baby trying to walk?

He shook his head and walked out. His arm felt weird. It was starting to burn a little.

Jack saw him. "Glad you're awake, son. Here is your breakfast! Eat up fast and sit down."

Danny looked down at his plate. He glanced at his father. "Can I go visit Leroy first?"

His dad thought about it. He nodded. "Eat up. Then you can go."

Danny smiled and sat down. He looked at his wounded arm. He tried to lift it but he could only move his hand stiffly. The nerves around his wound didn't seem to be working. He shrugged and used his other arm to eat. It was just asleep.

He ate his food quickly and threw it in the hole.

His mom clipped him up and he jumped out of the ship. He floated to his pet monster, who woke up when it smelled him.

Danny landed on the rock and smiled. "Sup, Leroy. Did you sleep well?"

Leroy licked his bandage and Danny pushed him away. "No idiot. I know you feel bad about hurting me but you can't lick it. You're ruining the bandages. Ugh. Guess I'll have to change them later."

Leroy growled. Danny petted his head. "I have to go back. Just keep following us ok?" He turned around to go but the ghost tried to follow him.

"No, Leroy. Stay back. Don't come close to the ship, ok? It's dangerous. I don't want you getting hurt. I'll visit you. Just don't touch the ship."

The monster sat down and Danny hoped it understood. "If you want, you can get something to eat. Just make sure where we're going because we'll be moving soon."

He stepped back to make sure Leroy wasn't following him. Then he floated back.

His mom was waiting for him. She unclipped the rope and told him to sit. She gave him new bandages when she saw the mess and left when Danny reassured her he could change it himself.

The seatbelts were clipped on and Danny flinched. He could almost feel the straps sucking at his skin. He decided to ignore it. The boy unwound the bandage and stared at what was underneath.

The hole hadn't healed at all. It had closed a little bit, but it should be soft skin by now.

He touched it gingerly. It was still numb. The scarred skin felt tingly. He tried to look at the other side of his arm where the horn had went through, but he couldn't reach. He grit his teeth. He turned around and whistled for Sam and Tucker.

They looked up along with a few other. Danny spoke in Ghost. "We have a problem."

Sam huffed. "Another one? How many problems can we take?"

"My wound hasn't healed yet."

Tucker's eyes widened. "That's a problem alright. Must be the filters. They're even sucking on you powers!"

Danny shivered. "I don't know Tuck. They only suck ectoplasm right? So they're probably taking the ectoplasm in my arm through the open wound before it can heal me."

Sam pursed her lips. "Was that why you wouldn't wake up today? Last time you said your core felt weaker."

Danny nodded. "I could barely walk to the bathroom."

Tucker glanced around worriedly. "I don't like this guys."

"You think I do?" Danny said skeptically.

"What if tomorrow you don't wake up at all?"
