Chapter 5
It was two O clock in the afternoon. Everyone had eaten and were now bored, lounging around the living room "what should we do now??" Anakin asked; they were silent until Hera spoke up "how about we go and find the local music shop??" she suggested, making everyone's faces light up. Ezra walked through the door at this point, in some oh his new clothes as he had just had a shower - denim shorts, a white shirt and black combo boots. "Hey Phan-" Sabine stopped herself "sorry, Ezra" she corrected; the kid just chuckled as he sat down "it's fine Sabine, I get it's going to take some getting used to". Hera explained to the boy of their plans, his face lit up also "cool, I know where the best music shop is and it's near by" he stated, earning smiles from the group "great!! Grab your jackets and be in the car in five minutes" Kenobi ordered happily. No one needed to be told twice as they raced to do as told; they were soon in the car, listening the Ezra give the directions to the woman who was driving as usual. Within ten minutes, Hera parked up and they all jumped out "the shops just over there" the youngest teen pointed to one of the building; this is where Zeb, Anakin, Sabine and Ahsoka broke out into a run, making the slower four laugh.
"Aren't you going to run with them??" Kanan asked earning a shake of the head "nah, the shop isn't going anywhere and I don't want to embarrass the other's by beating them there" they chuckled at Ezra's reply "besides, you never know when you'll need your energy". The words "old habits die hard I guess" rung a bell in that moment of time. They all reached the shop - the four older teens looked around with amazement whilst the owner kept an eye on them, that was until he saw Ezra and a wide and bright smile appeared. "Phantom my boy!!" he exclaimed with happiness as he approached the kid "long time no see, how've you been??" he asked which caught everyone's attention. "Hey Hondo, I'm good, just showing my friends your amazing shop" Ezra clasped the mans hand as a greeting "yes, my shop it rather amazing, isn't it??" classic Hondo. "Got anything new??" the teen asked earning a nod "always, have a look in the back" Ezra rolled his eyes as he spoke again "let me rephrase that, have you got anything new that isn't stolen??" that was an alarming question yet it made the shop owner chuckle "you know me too well Phantom...but no, nothing like that".
Hera pulled the boy to the side as they all began to look around "stolen?!" she quietly exclaimed the question; Ezra sent a small smile "don't worry, all of the stolen items stay in the back, not out front" for some reason...she believed him. Somehow, the four cousins ganged up on the three adults and begged that they get to pick an item out to buy; it took some time and many laughs from both Ezra and Hondo but they were soon allowed, with a certain price range. Sabine picked out a keyboard, Ahsoka picked out a flute, Zeb picked out a small electric drum set and Anakin picked out an electric guitar; Ezra was able to convince his old friend to drop the prices by half!! "You can pick out something if you want Phantom??" Kanan suggested - Ezra had told them to call him by his nickname in front of Hondo in the car before they had arrived; he seemed unsure "you guys have already spent a lot of money on my already-". Before the boy could continue, Hondo spoke up "you can pick one thing out for free" all eyes widened "what?! Really?!" yes, he and the man were good friend, but Hondo was a tight man that loved money so that offer was a shock to Ezra.
"A gift!! For all of your help through out the years" the shop owner explained "and I do believe I know just what you'll pick" he climbed up a small step ladder and retrieved a beautiful blue guitar from high up on the wall; the family saw how Ezra's face lit up like a Christmas tree "if my memory is correct, you always played this at least once when here". The teen took the guitar in hand and sat down on a near by stood; the guitar was tuned!! Smiling, Ezra strummed the strings and began to play a beautiful melody; the family all shared a look of shock as the boy played amazingly. A minute passed and the kid stopped "that was...whoa" Ahsoka couldn't find the words, making the boy smile even more "thanks" he then turned to his old friend "and thanks Hondo" the two clasped hands before Hera handed over the money for her kids, niece and nephew's instruments. Kenobi drove the car over to the shop and opened the boot - the kids loaded their things in before they all hopped into the car; they had been at the shop for over an hour now and decided it was time to go home, after Ezra and said goodbye to Hondo of course. Hera once again asked if any of the things they had just purchased were stolen items; Ezra understood her concern but shook his head "none of the things that were purchased today were stolen items, Hondo keeps the good stuff out front so that if the cops come looking, they won't see the stolen ones" he reassured.
This made many questions form in the adults head; how did the kid know this?? What did Hondo mean by "for all of your help through out the years"?? Did Ezra ever help steal some of the items in the back room?? "I helped keep people away from Hondo and his shop, people that hated him and wanted to show it" Ezra suddenly spoke, as if he could read their minds - he couldn't read minds but he could read people and their faces "I never stole other then food, water, medical supplies and the odd piece of clothing when I had out grown of it....which was a rare thing in itself" they now felt bad for thinking any different "right...sorry" Hera send him a small smile. Thankfully, the teen didn't seem bothered by their thoughts what so ever "I get it, people that live on the streets don't have a good reputation, especially the 'big and bad Phantom'" he explained with a sigh "but I was one of the rare few that had morals...morals that I stuck to no matter what". Ezra was a good kid, that was for sure.
