The Phantom has discovered a hidden trait that Christine has when she lies. He decides to test it out...

Erik and Raoul were both sitting on the couch, a few feet apart. Erik was reading a book on classical composers, and Raoul was drinking a cup of water. Christine had walked into the room and started to organize the books on the shelf.

Erik smiled at her, and then leaned closer to Raoul. "I told Christine that her ears flush when she lies." Raoul raised an eyebrow. "Why?" Erik smiled. "You'll see."

He cleared his throat and leaned forward. "Christine, angel, do you love us?" Christine turned around and, panic-stricken, covered her ears. "N-No." She stuttered. 

Raoul couldn't help but blush with his mouth hanging open. Erik smiled. "See?" He got up from his seat and kissed Christine on the cheek on his way out. "Thank you, angel." 

Christine smiled and sat down next to Raoul. "I know my ears don't flush when I lie. For some reason, it makes him so happy, so I just keep doing it." She giggled. "I don't know why I can't just tell him outright." 

Raoul sighed. "Perhaps it is because he thinks that he is pulling a fast one on me. By getting you to sneakily confess that you love him, while I am also in the same room, it is a boost to his ego." He ventured. 

Raoul smiled. "If it works for him, it works for him. I just hope he knows that I'm still more handsome. Your ears would definitely flush if you tried to say he's better-looking!"

Erik quickly popped in the room. "I heard that!"
