"I'm gonna get you kids!" some ill-tempered guy shouted as Wendy, her friends, and the twins ran into the woods.

They stopped in a clearing, totally out of breath. "Dude," Wendy panted, "that guy was such a party pooper. I mean, sure you're not supposed to take the canoes over the waterfall, but he didn't have to be that mad about it."

Dipper was laying on the ground, soaked and exhausted. "I am never doing that again."

"Come on, you loved it!" Mabel smiled, punching his shoulder. He rubbed it as if annoyed with her antics, but he was glad she was so cheerful.

Ever since the recent incident with Dan and Bill, she'd been really depressed and mopy. It was understandable, of course, but Dipper hated to see her like that. Although he usually wouldn't do stupid things like steal a canoe and ride it down a waterfall, he'd agreed to it in a heartbeat in order to keep her happy.

Several hours later, they trudged home. Wendy came with them, as they were going to hang out and watch TV with Soos.

"Hey guys!" the handyman greeted as they walked in the door. "Dude, you need to check out the news."

The three kids plopped down on the couch. On the television screen was someone Dipper was very familiar with: Danny Phantom.

Although Soos hadn't been there, he knew about Danny's secret and what had taken place that night. He thought Danny was super cool, and the two got along just fine.

So all four intently watched their friend battling it out for the world to see. "How did you get this channel, Soos? It looks local to Amity Park." With so many better-known heroes out there, Danny certainly wouldn't be making headlines in Oregon.

Soos just smiled. "I am a handy man."

Their favorite phantom was fighting a metallic, heavily armed ghost with flames for hair. Ecto rays flew this way and that, gun blasts and nets barely missing the halfa as he nimbly weaved between the attacks.

"Hold still, you stupid whelp!" the ghost growled.

"Aw, is someone grumpy, Skulker?" Danny asked in a baby voice. "Am I too fast for you?"

They bantered back and forth, but they were evenly matched. Danny got a few shots in. He was mostly playing around, though.

"And here they go again!" said an overly peppy reporter. "Danny Phantom and Skulker, mortal enemies. It's unclear why they hate eachother so much, but Skulker seems to think of Phantom as prey."

They zoomed back in on the two. One of the camera crews must have been in a helicopter, because Danny, who was flying, looked up at the screen and shouted, "What are you doing? Get out of here before you get hur--"

Skulker rammed into him, slamming him into the brick wall of a building called the Nasty Burger. Everyone watching winced in sympathy. "Dude, that sucks," Wendy muttered.

Danny barely caught himself, hovering a few inches off the ground. Skulker shot a net at him, sweepimg him off his feet. He groaned when he hit the pavement.

Skulker grinned triumphantly, placing a foot on Danny's chest as he lay there. "Yes! Finally I, the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter, have taken down the ghost boy, and I shall hang his pelt on my wa--"

A pulse of energy erupted from Danny's body, dissolving the net and knocking Skulker to the ground. "Yeah, I don't think so." He pulled a Fenton thermos out of his pocket and sucked Skulker into it.

Danny replaced the thermos and was about to fly away when he looked at the camera again. He went towards it.

"What is happening here?" the reporter asked. "It seems that the famous Danny Phantom is finally going to speak to the public! What will he say?"

Danny crossed his arms at the camera. "Hey you!" he shouted. "Camera guys! You nearly got me skinned back there. If you're gonna film me, at least do it from a distance. We could all get hurt."

He zipped off, leaving surprised newspeople in his wake.

The reporter kept talking, but no one in the room listened anymore. "That was awesome," Wendy laughed. "Everyone thought he was going to adress the public. Ha!"

Dipper just slowly shook his head, grinning. It was still difficult to wrap his head around the fact that he was friends with a superhero. Heck, he'd even rescued the guy once, after he got injured.

Wendy grinned. "He's kinda cute, you know?"

Mabel giggled. "Yeah, he is. But he totally likes that Sam girl."

"Dude, I know, they're so cute," the redhead laughed. Danny's friend Tucker had sent them a picture of Sam and the halfa curled up together, sleeping.

Dipper felt faint stirrings of jealousy, but they quickly faded. Danny wasn't interested in Wendy, and the preteen wasn't about to cause more trouble for the guy. He had enough problems to deal with, several of which Dipper had witnessed.

Soon enough, it was time to sleep. Wendy left, and the twins climbed the stairs into the attic.

Mabel passed out almost immediately, but Dipper was busy writing. Although he hadn't told anyone about it, he'd started his own journal: number four.

It had a golden pine tree on it, and the inside cover said "A continuation of the journals of Ford Pines, written by his great-nephew Dipper Pines. Dedicated to Mabel Pines and all the residents of Gravity Falls."

Dipper sighed and opened it, reading over his own handwriting. He'd made plenty of additions to the originals, but the creatures not mentioned in Ford's accounts covered number four's pages. His adventures were now documented, including the ones with Danny.

After a few minutes he wrote something down about strange mushrooms he'd found that day and clicked off the lights. He was dreading going back to California, and school, in a few weeks. He hated to think about it.

Ah, well, at least I don't have to do homework and fight ghosts, he thought.

That would seriously suck.
