Chapter: Thirty

A/N: There's a video I made and would love for you to check out at the bottom of the page. Any ways, please enjoy...

They had given me a ball, that was it. A damn ball. I was placed into the box once more, instead the Helicarrier didn't fly. It was in for New York for repairs. Hell, the whole city was in need of repairs. And all because of Loki and I, it wasn't a shock that I was put in the box. If I had tried to leave or used my powers. No telling what they would do, all I knew was that they saw me as a threat. So now I sat on a metal slab and threw the ball back at the wall. Catching it and throwing it back and forth. My mind wandered back a few days, thinking of when I arrived.

Halls barren, but filled with burn marks and a few missed blood spatters. My doing. They took Loki to some other place, Thor wasn't leaving his side now. All eyes were on me, no one saw me as the young adult daughter of Tony Stark. They saw me as the monster that was entangled with the destruction of New York city and her citizens. I wished I could go back in time, but I didn't have that power. No one would help me now, and Fury was for sure not on my side. Dad couldn't stop this, if I hadn't intervened, he would have flipped. Making the situation only worse than it already was.

"Move you're ass Stark," An agent shoved me forward and I stumbled to regain my balance. I was pushed and rough housed with to quickly get to whatever cell they wanted to shove me into. It was probably because they didn't want to have other agents attack me or to get things thrown at me. It didn't take an expert to see where we were headed, I recognized the room temperature change and the way the narrow halls grew darker. They were putting me in the box, again.

"You are to remain in this room until Director Fury and the Council can decide what to do with you."

The voices faded and I just stood in the box. They had brought pillows in from my room upstairs and left a ball on the middle of the bed. It made sense though, why they were afraid of me. Hell I was afraid of me, I didn't know what I was fully capable of. Slowly I sat on the ground and stared at my hands, they had taken off the cuffs but I still felt them cutting into my wrists. My thoughts went back to the time Clint saw me raging in the training room, Tony had insisted I was to not interfere with Pepper and her being the CEO. I had only offered to take some stuff off her plate, she was overworked. Dad said I had to first heal, I wasn't one for sitting on my ass though. Now I had no choice to though.

It had been a few days, I hadn't moved much and the one inside me was against just sitting on me ass. 'In and out is that all you are going to do? They are probably planning to send us to some god forsaken prison where we are going to rot!' My hands clenched together, nails digging into my palms. I could feel the energy in the room start to radiate off of me, my body again lifted off the ground as it did the first day I meditated. 'If you wanted you could go home. In a blink of an eye and they wouldn't know where to look.' I had bounced the ball back and forth on the wall and the mirror. I guess it was a way to enjoy my time. As I was meditating the ball began to float as well and when it dropped I saw the way my reflection looked in the mirror. It was me, though my eyes were glowing.

"Let me out."

"Shut it," I grumbled and stood to my feet. "You are the reason we are like this in the first place," I rubbed my eyes and took a shallow breath. "We wait until they sort out what to do with us. Is that clear?" I crossed my arms afterwords and stared at my reflection. "Is that clear-" I went to say a name, but realized I didn't have one to say. "I'm the boss, alright Tess?"

"Tess?" The voice questioned and copied my stance in the reflection, "I like it."

"Well since were bonded or whatever," I shrugged and continued, "I might as well give you a name. Since we're together forever now," I used my power to bring the ball to me and throw it at the one way mirror. It bounced back at me and my reflection no longer had the bright blue glow. Throwing the ball once more, this time at the door it opened and I barely had time to stop the ball from hitting the man in the face.

"Well... That's a greeting Jae," Dad stepped into the room, the door didn't shut. It remained open, I could feel the need to run towards it. Though I knew that would end up badly for the both of us. His hands in his pockets, waiting for my response. The only one I could give him was my arms thrown around him and the weight around me fell. His arms encased me, his hand holding the back of my head.

"Oh my god, am I hallucinating? I didn't think I'd get to see anyone ever again. I was talking to myself already," We separated and he gave me a look, I shook my head. "Other me... Sorry." He ruffled my hair and kissed the top of my head.

"You really are my kid. All jokes, even in the serious times," He took a look around the room as I took a few steps back and sat onto the bed. He stopped turning and stared to me, the look in his eyes filled me with hope. "Let's go home." He held out his hand for me and I took it without hesitation. He gave me a comforting squeeze before we both darted out into the hall. Passing agents, I kept my head down to hopefully avoid any looks they would give me.

The Helicarrier seemed to go on forever, I would use my abilities but that wouldn't be good for a while, I was lucky that I was even allowed to leave. "Miss Stark." I stopped dead in my tracks and spun to see Fury, his signature leather trench coat draping behind him. "Glad I caught you before your father took you wherever," Dad's lip turned upward for a moment before I gave him a look to stop. "Look Jaedyn. You are being placed on temporary leave and you will be left in your father's custody. The deal is that, you are to function as a ward of Shield. Meaning a similar deal that Natasha once held. Agent Barton will be your Handler. You will report to him for mission briefings and debriefings. Agent Romanoff will, if she has to, take you out."

"Take her out?!" Dad yelled and pushed me behind him. The thought of Nat having to do that made my heart hurt. "What does that mean!?"

"It means what it means dad. She'll take me out if Tess or I get out of hand..." A statement, I knew what Nat did, everyone was scared of her for good reason. The nickname, Black Widow, didn't seem to comfort anyone. "Understood."

"Good. Just so you know Jaedyn. The council was very reluctant for this decision, it took some persuasion. Stark's..." With that Fury took his exit. My eyes spotted Barton at the end of the hall, he gave me a salute and I shyly wove to him. 'I'll call you later.' He mouthed to me and I nodded before I started to walk again with dad. He was breathing heavier, his mind most likely thinking of what the director had said. It stuck with me too, dying at the hand of a mentor? A friend? Unthinkable.

"Earth to Jaedyn," I looked up from the floor seeing that we had reached the exit, and down the ramp was dad's Audi A5. Accompanied by Happy standing their, gawking at the sight of the Helicarrier. "Come on Princess."

"Happy? Happy!" I exclaimed and raced down the ramp, running into Happy's arms. He stumbled back when I hit him, but eventually wrapped his arms around me to return the hug. "God am I glad to see you."

"It's good to see you to Kid. Seems like you got a bit rougher around the edges," I laughed and we broke the hug. He opened the back door and I slid in so dad could follow in behind me. "Let me guess..."

"You don't want to know, trust me. It's a... It's a long story," Happy soon sped out of the lot and onto the New York streets. A lot of them had been closed off and detoured, due to the amount of destruction. "To the tower?"

"Yes. Pepper is there and she wants to see you. Also, I'm already working on re-building the tower," I shrunk into the leather seat and rubbed my tired eyes. I hadn't gotten much sleep, Tess liked to keep me up at night. Talking, whispering to try and convince me to give in. I was so over that though, I wasn't going to give in. Over my dead body.

"She's glad she get's to see you, she didn't know what had happened to you during the invasion..." I turned my head to him giving a puzzled look. "No I haven't told her. I didn't know how to. That's something you get to do."

"Oh gee thanks," The rest of the ride was filled with silence, not even the radio play. It wasn't too long before we arrived at the street where the tower was and I stared out the window. Destruction surrounded the area, the only reason we were allowed through was because dad had a security pass. Shield probably gave it to him, more likely Nick. The construction workers had cleared the rubble out of the streets but I could tell that this was only the beginning of everything going back to, normal.

"Jae," Dad's voice brought me back to reality and I looked over to him. He was motioning for me to exit the car, we had arrived. I was dreading this, what would the tower look like. I knew I had done damage to it, though how extensive I hadn't a clue. "You wanna try something Princess? The elevator is out, due to some of the wreckage. And I'm not wanting to climb all of those stairs..." His hand extended for me to try my thing. I took a breath and stepped forward. If it was just at home I think it would be okay... Hopefully.

Opening my palm a blue orb formed and tossed it in front of the elevator doors. It expanded and showed the top floor, my vision crystal clear. I saw every piece of rubble and every shattered glass that I had created, my bow was broken in two from the fight.

"So that's new," Happy said, adjusting one of dad's bags that was on his shoulder. "I don't know the half of it... Right," Happy hesitantly walked through the portal after Dad did. I could tell he was hesitant, hell I would be too. "Did you feel that Tony? Energy or something."

"Yea, it's like goosebumps I guess. Happens every time I do the whole, Teleporting thing." Dad walked over to the steps and climbed the part that hadn't broken to reach the upper level. Happy and I both heard him calling for Pepper. I on the other hand, heard the whirring of the machines from around the corner. Slowly I stepped over, and saw Pepper, she had her eyes buried in paperwork. Some rubble shifted under my feet and Pepper looked up to me. She immediately dropped the papers and rushed me with a hug. Her arms wrapping around me and pulling me against her tightly.

"Oh my god. Jaedyn, I'm so glad your alright. Tony said something had happened," Pepper saw the way I didn't return her hug and I stepped away from her. "Jae?"

"There's something I got to show you. You may want to sit down, cause this story... It's a long one..." Pepper gave me a confused look but stepped away and sat down. Her legs crossing and hands folding, Happy joined in. Catching on that I was going to tell what happened to me.

Eighteen years old. Strange right? My birthday that I had hoped to be one of the best days of my life turned out to be one of the worst. I ended up being grounded and attacked in this very room. It didn't take too long for me to realize something was wrong. Loki, the god, attacked me. Activated something within me and now I can move things with my mind and teleport. Then I remember waking up with Shield, then in Germany. After Dad and I fought Loki. Along side Captain America, whose cool, I fell out the back of a jet. Landed safely because I teleported to the ground. I stopped Dad and the Captain from fighting the god Thor. The power I have is like intense and grows I think. There's also this other person inside of me it's..." I saw the way she was looking to me. Freaked out. "I know its a lot to proce-..."

"Wait stop for a second," Pepper stood up, her hands going to her hips and giving me a look. "Powers? Gods? Anthony?" The two of us looked to dad, who was fiddling with his tie. He stopped and looked over to me, motioning with his eyes for me to show her. "Tony what is going on? Just give it to me strai-"

My hands started to glow, as did the braces and Pepper started to lift off the ground. She gasped and was starting to freak out when I set her back on the ground, my hand clenched then opened creating a small portal in hand, another one appeared on the counter. Her eyes drawn to each of them when they appeared. I stuck my arm through and grabbed a piece of rock that was on the counter and closing both portals afterwords.

"Like I said Pep, a lot to process..." She fell down onto the couch and put her head in her hands, groaning. My eyes met dad's and he went over to her side, a hand resting on her shoulder. Her hand touched his briefly before rubbing her eyes, she was obviously tired. "Any questions?"

"The things on your wrists?" Pep motioned to them and I lifted my arms showing the braces better. They were constantly glowing and it wasn't surprising that she saw them. They stood out against my all black outfit.

"My design, Banner and I worked on it while you were unavailable. They gave us research and it was pretty easy to piece everything together. You know, you're dad's a genius and all that," He smirked and I saw Pepper roll her eyes. "Since you did destroy some of the tower-"

I teleported to the kitchen grabbing an energy drink, still listening to dad. He had stopped though, I could tell he didn't like me teleporting away from him. Easier to ignore him though. Walking back over to him I opened the can and took a drink, motioning him to continue. "Okay first we need to set some ground rules for you're new... Abilities."

"Oh like what?"

"No teleporting away from any of us when were talking to you first off." He began to list off things I would now have to follow a long with my new house arrest. "Telekinesis is to be used minimal, portals will not appear in this home or the others. And no being the hood."

"Wait you're the hood?" Pepper asked, cutting dad off from making his list longer.

"Pepper. Parenting is happening, not now." I nodded and she threw her hands up, turns out she didn't know me as well as she thought she did. "Alright where was I, oh yeah! Since you and the other you-"

"Tess." I stated, he gave me a hard father look, saying, 'don't interrupt me.'

"You and Tess, destroyed the tower, you can use your telekinesis to pick whatever you can up and get it out of the way. We start construction soon." I groaned and rubbed my eyes, feeling a slight burn behind them. I was exhausting myself. "First off go take a shower you are reeking."

"You can blame Shield for that one, they wouldn't let me out of the box, only to use the bathroom. Not shower. I'll be back I guess," I went to teleport but saw the look on Pepper and Happy's face. They seemed to be confused and frightened by me. I wrapped my arms around me and started to walk up to my room, wooden pallets were set down on the stairs. They had been broken and now were transformed into a ramp, I hadn't even gotten upstairs when I heard Pepper and Dad.

"What do you mean this is now normal? This is far from normal Tony!" There was a shushing noise and someone hit someone else's chest.

"In the span of five days, my daughter. My Jaedyn. She's been given powers, used, forced to try an take over the world, seen me almost die because of a portal she created, and killed..." I had heard his voice break at the last moment. It made my heart break, thinking of what I had done. "Can... Can we just give her a little break?" Dad sighed heavily and I could tell he was exhausted we all were. I took my exit and left for my room, some pieces of rubble were piled up in front of it and I had to force it out of the way. Afterwords I shut the door and moved to the bathroom, my didn't have their normal light. That had been extinguished the moment I killed people. I threw my hands to either side of the sink and leaned against it. My head filled with the memories of that day, they would plague me for life.

"How is it you can say that about us? We are unique."

"Geez, I can't even get my bathroom to myself anymore. Can you just stay silent for a little while please. I'm going to be taking a shower and I don't want to talk or listen to you right now." Silence was followed. The room around me was disheveled but it would be easy to fix my room after I got off the filth that stuck to my skin. I pushed the door till it was cracked so I could let the steam out of my room and started to strip. Dropping the clothes I wore I tore them off of me and threw them into the garbage. They were cloaked in bad memories and smelt nasty, if I had fire I would burn them. Looking at my bracelets my lips turned down, pushing them off. Clattering into the sink I felt a relief fall over me. Though I could feel the power grow stronger when I did so it was almost a weight lifted off of me.

Turning the water on as hot as it would go before stepping into it. Hair flattening against my body and the water pouring down me. I rested my arms on the walls of the shower and let it fall down me. There was nothing that was going to stop this. It was destiny for us Jaedyn.

"Shut up!" I yelled, hearing something else break and a squeaking of a door that started to open.

"Jaedyn?" Pepper had called to me. "Is someone with you?"

"No. It's..." I thought of a way to explain that I was yelling at this person inside my head but that would just make me sound worse than I was. "I'm just thinking allowed Pep. Is there a chance you could bring me some leftovers or something. Shield really didn't have much to offer on the side of sustenance." I made up some excuse to get her off my back, but truthfully. I was starving and they didn't have a lot to eat.

"Yeah of course Jaedyn," Hearing her steps fade away I finished rinsing off whatever remained of the past few days and stepped out of the shower. My eye went straight to the broken glass in the sink covering my braces. My hand rose and the cloud of wisps wrapped around everything that was inside the sink. Pulling it out I separated the glass with the braces, piecing it back together to look at myself. My eyes were surrounded by dark circles, my face was sunken in. I looked paler, than usual and my eyes lost their glow. I didn't recognize myself, I was completely different. Tossing the glass into the waste I went back into my room and dawned on an oversize sweater shirt that I had taken from dad and a pair of shorts. My braces were tossed onto the side of my nightstand, it was chafing into my wrists. They didn't hurt but it did bother me at times. My hands rang out my hair and scrunched it so it would get dry quicker and have some volume.

I may have been exhausted but I could still try to look decent. There was a knock at my door, I didn't really want to talk to anyone, but Pepper did mention she was making some food. "Hey, there's my favorite Godchild."

Spinning around, a smile spread across my face as I saw Uncle Rhodey. He held food in his hand like a waiter extending it to me. My powers coated the plate and I lifted it setting it on the bed before I threw my arms around my uncle. He did the same and lifted me off the ground, squeezing tightly. "You got abilities now too?"

"Uncle Rhodey!" We both laughed an he set me down. "What are you doing here?" I put my head in my hands and chuckled to myself. "Of course you are here, dad probably called you to try and I don't know. Make me feel more normal than I actually was? Oh, and yes I do have abilities now. Long story short. Loki gave them to me on my birthday, and used me to try and take over the world. Plus I have another person in my body now."

"Uh huh..." He still had a confused look on his face, that's when I noticed that he was in his military uniform. I wanted to fix it but my hands were still glowing so I wrapped my arms around myself. "Don't worry about it. I'm getting it cleaned later today. Seems you've had a long few days." I laughed and nodded. The two of us moved to my bed an I began to eat the sandwich Pepper had made me.

The plate now held only crumbs, and Rhodey had still remained sitting while I was laying on my stomach. "You know it's been a long night, and I can see your tired. You should get some rest kid."

"I don't think I want to sleep Uncle Rhodey," I sat up and averted my gaze to the wall, a crack was in the wall. Probably from when I yelled at Tess to shut up and leave me alone while I was in the shower. His body shifted with uneasiness and he saw the way I was picking at my nails, that still seemed to have dirt under them. He went to grab my hands but I pulled away and gasped, he put his hands up in defense. Standing up he took the plate from the bed and sighed. "Look Rhodes... I'm grateful for you and dad to be trying to- well everyone. I'm grateful for everyone trying to comfort me. I just... I don't want it." A strained smile crossed his lips to tell me he was there for me. They all were, and I knew it. My voice cracked when I said a goodbye and he turned the lights off, I fell onto my bed again. Staring at the ceiling. "No one can help me with this anyways."
