Chapter: Nineteen

               Beep... Beep... Beep...

In taking as much oxygen as I could I shot up off the medical bed just in time to see all the medical instruments shoot off the side table and against the wall. It's me, I am doing that... Glancing down to my attire, I realized I was still in my uniform, and suddenly everything that happened flooded my mind. I moved my legs off the made and put my head in my hands. What is happening to me? I grabbed the glass of water on the table drinking it. My body was stiff an sore, I felt every bone in my body aching. I was grateful I was wearing my helmet when I flew off my bike otherwise I might not have been here. Where was here?

"Stark?" I grabbed my bow that was on the counter and pulled an arrow back aiming to the voice. I saw Coulson with his hands up, showing he was no threat. "Calm down, your on the Shield Helicarrier," I calmed down seeing the logo for Shield behind him. "There's been a situation, and we brought you here for your own safety."

"You brought me here," I lowered my bow, looking at my hands. Starting to stretch my hands, I noticed the scar on my right palm dimly glowing. I started to hyperventilate my mind going back to what happened last night, I stopped a car going at least sixty mph, and took it apart. With my mind.

"Stark, calm down," Coulson instructed me as the objects in the room started to float, a blue glow engulfing them as it did the car last night. I took a step back, hitting the wall behind me. "Hey, Jaedyn," Phil said stepping towards me. I shook my head, my hands gripping my head tightly as it began to hurt. The table an bed was lifting off the ground, medical tools began to disappear an reappear in different places. He gripped my shoulder tightly and forced my eyes to meet his. "Jaedyn! Calm down."

"What's happening to me?" I asked, taking a slow and deep breath, doing my best to calm down.

"I-" He paused and the door opened once more. "Director Fury."

"Agent Stark," The tall intimating Director Nick Fury stepped in an put his hands behind his back once the door shut behind him. "There's a situation."

"Sir, if you could explain to me what is happening that would be fantastic. Cause I don't know what's real anymore, did all of that really happen?" I asked moving to the bed, sitting on it once more. I looked up from my hands to him, waiting for an answer. He didn't have one.

"What exactly happened yesterday?" Phil asked.

"All of it?" The two of them nodded. "A man came into the tower, more like appeared out of thin air," I knew I was going to earn some looks while I explained everything. "It's still fuzzy but I remember he had a scepter in hand, and was able to snap his fingers to stop me from moving and speaking. Anyways, he spoke to me while he was in the tower. Only for a short time, before my Dad stopped him, he vanished before dad blasted him." My eyes were closed as the images flashed over me.

"This scepter, did he touch you with it?" Fury asked, my eyes shot open as he asked. That answered his question and I gave him a confused look.

"Did he do this to me? Is that why I'm like this? Is whoever attacked me responsible for this?" I exclaimed the last sentence and the window in the room shattered, I gasped covering my mouth with my hand. The Director and Coulson both stepped back from the glass and towards me. I closed my eyes whimpering at how confused I was.

"Agent Stark I need you at your best now. Agent Barton was touched by the scepter and it allowed the same guy who attacked you to take control of him," I saw the look in the director's eyes that showed me the concern any person would. "How are you really feeling Stark?"

"Clint... He was compromised?" I ignored his last question and my mind was thinking on my friend and mentor. He was under the control of some lunatic. "Oh my god... So me with the blast of energy that knocked my dad back?" I gripped my head again taking deep breaths. All real darling. I looked up and to see another face at the doorway but there was only the three of us there. You'll understand soon my darling. Why it is you. The lights suddenly started to get brighter to me and I went to shield my eyes. I put my legs on the bed and rested on my side. "This isn't what I wanted for my birthday."

"Birthday?"

"She turned Eighteen yesterday, Sir." My vision faded even more and I hit the pillow hard.

Tony Stark stood there, his back against the wall when he knew the glass was gonna break. He covered his mouth to stop himself from speaking or saying something he might have regretted at that moment. He knew this day was coming but it didn't make it any less hard. He waited until Agent Coulson walked out of the room and nodded to him before he looked to his child. His arms folded over his chest as he watched his daughter's body start to float above the bed she should have been laying on. Small energy wisps were forming around her body. Causing tools in the room to start vanishing and floating. A figured stepped out of the door that lead to the young woman's room, Director Fury.

"You know what's happening to her, the stone. The scepter, it's clear what's happening Stark." Fury's voice was calm, but there was concern for the new Eighteen year old.

"This shouldn't have happened, I've done everything possible to stop this."

"Agent Coulson, found her. Brought her here, for everyone's protection." There was hidden words between the two men. The both of them then looked to the young woman, the wisps along her seemed to grow. Engulfing more of the furniture and objects around the room. The room started to rise off the ground a few feet. "We do as agreed on. A long time ago we agreed, remember Stark?" Nick's voice rose only for a moment, to get across to the worried father. "She's going to be an asset or a weapon if she can't control it."

"I didn't want her involved in this life, I tried my best to keep her out of it and look where that ended up," Tony motioned to the room, he rubbed his eyes moving away from the room. He began to pace back an forth until the Director blocked his path.

"She was born into this life Tony," After the words he spoke the Director left. His footsteps echoed down the hall, the dark leather coat billowing in his steps. Leaving the worried father to watch his changing daughter, leaving only a few minutes later because he was called away.

When I woke next I felt my body, feeling my ribs and arms. There were certainly bruises that wouldn't be going away soon. In the small bathroom, I was able to lift up my shirt to see my stomach and back, bruises where I had landed from the motorcycle crash. It was when I was looking at myself in the mirror that I saw myself. My hair was frazzled and my makeup smeared around my eyes. I looked deep into my eyes in the reflection, I could feel myself changing. My hands gripped the side of the sink feeling the room start to shake. This change wasn't for the better. I didn't know what I was becoming. I needed to somehow do something to tell myself I was in charge of this change. Shield wouldn't have hair dye, they weren't a salon, they were a special law-enforcement, and counter-terrorism agency. What they would have was scissors, I searched the cabinets in the bathroom until I saw the tool. I brought the scissors up to my hair, taking a chunk of it before I took a breath. Snip...

Shaking out my now shortened hair, it was a big difference. I ran my hands through it and made a few bit more cuts to make it look even enough. Now it was a few inches above my shoulders. Considering when I was younger I cut my own hair, in hopes to give myself bangs. Pepper came into the bathroom an saw my horrible job and took me to get it fixed. Before dad got home from the company. I tossed whatever hair had been in the sink before I washed my hands of any stray hairs. I gathered my things that were in the room and strapped my bow onto my back, the same with my arrows. Opening the door slowly, I peaked my head out of the room. As soon as some agents with the Shield logo passed the door, I stepped out and kept my head down. Trying to look like I belonged, I wore a bright red uniform, it probably wouldn't work.

"Hey! Stark!" I heard a voice call out to me, I spun around and felt someone pull on my arm. "Jaedyn Stark?" I nodded once an he looked down to my hands seeing the slight glow to them. "Uhh, Director Fury insisted that you come with me."

"I'm not going anywhere with you, I don't know you. If Fury want's me to go somewhere, he can come an take me there himself," I said while I yanked my arm away from his grip.

"Agent Stark, these orders are coming from Director Fury," He went to grip me once more but I shoved him back, this ripple of energy cascaded down my arms and out my hands. The energy sent the agent flying across the hall, he skidded to a stop across the floor. I gasped looking to my glowing hands, my eyes went from him to the man. He sat up gripping his stomach, giving me a look of terror. I held my arms close to my chest an started to stumble backwards. I almost felt sick, tripping over my own feet I gripped the wall to keep standing. There was agonizing pain in my head, one hand gripping my head the other on the wall. I hit the wall earning worried an scared looks from the other agents that were in the hall. The same energy that shot out of me, started to form around me. I called out for help, but no one moved from their spot. I could feel the same amount of energy start to swell in me again. I gripped my head until there was a bright light that surrounded me and in a flash I fell onto the floor. Gripping my chest tightly, I couldn't breathe. My eyes stared up at the steel ceiling in hope that it would somehow calm me. I rolled to my side seeing the Helicarrier bridge. The Helicarrier is an advanced aerial vehicle, designed to function as an aircraft carrier but it was able to fly from massive engines provided the lift needed to keep it in the air, Dad had helped design it. I remembered seeing the blue prints on the many screens when I was younger. I clawed my my chest trying to get any air into my lungs.

"Stark," A sturdy voice reached me, I went to shove them away from me but they gripped my shoulders tightly. "Stark!" Everything was clearer now, Fury was grabbing me. Bringing me back to this reality. It was night time, the stars in the sky shined brightly. I could see the sun coming up though, so it meant it was early. "Jaedyn." I looked up into his eye, calming down until I could breath normally. My body growing heavy and my eyes soon rolled back into my head.

My whole body shook me awake, the sickening feeling within me was back and made me want to throw up. I sat up and pushed off the covers that were on me. That's when I realized I wasn't in my room or the helicarrier room I woke in last time. I was in a steel room, a large mirror staring at me. I could have only guessed it was a one way mirror. Was this a cell? Was I in a giant box?

"Agent Stark?" A speaker echoed throughout the room. "Your awake, good. It's Ten O'clock, and the director wanted you to be aware of everything that is happening. Due to your-"

"Condition?" I scoffed, stepping over to the mirror. The steel door I'm betting was locked, I was trapped basically. "There's something wrong with me. That freak who attacked me, did this to me!" I exclaimed and the blanket that was on the bed shot towards the mirror.

"Look Agent. This room is here for those who have abilities and so you wont harm anyone or yourself," I took a shaky breath and shook my head. "When you woke the director wanted you to go to the bridge. There's a change of clothes if your interested, anyways you should head up to the bridge," The door buzzed the next second and I immediately rushed out the door bypassing the jeans and plain shirt I saw. The agent yelled after me to slow down but I was determined to find the elevator an reaching the bridge. I hit the top button for the elevator before I rested on the wall, taking deep breaths until the door opened again. Walking out of the elevator I spotted many people, there were agents sitting at computer stations, some walking an as guards. Then my eyes went to the circular table with other people surrounding it.

"We're at lock, sir." I heard Agent Maria Hill say, her hair pulled back into a tight bun. I made my way around the table leaning on it, waiting for Fury to finish with his orders.

"Good. Let's vanish," Fury commanded, he stood with his arms behind his back and the shadow that he probably cast onto the agents below was intimidating as usual.

"Fury," My voice was quiet and I didn't think he heard me, though when he turned towards me I was given a nod. He was going to come over in a moment after he spoke with Hill. As the helicarrier was rising into the high heavens I could tell that the agents were using the carriers reflective mirrors to camouflage us in the sky. I looked to my hands as I took a seat around the desk. Seeing the blue wisps crackling along my skin. "Director, what's happening to me?"

"Stark, to figure out what's happening with you. We would have to run tests, are you willing to submit to some tests to figure this out?" I nodded agreeing to it. Afterwords I put my head in my hands and sighed heavily. It wasn't too long before the room was filled with more people. Only making me feel more crowded with people, some of the chairs surrounding the table started to float. My own chair did the same and I curled up holding my knees to my chest. When the doors opened again my head shot up and the chairs dropped to the floor. I kept my head down as I looked to see Natasha followed by two familiar room.

One man who was tall with dirty blonde hair walked through the doors, showing the glorious bridge. He seemed really out of the whole technology thing, yet surprised. He had broad shoulders and seemed to stand tall above all the others. There was another man that followed him, dark curly hair, he seemed a bit uncomfortable with his surroundings, especially when he saw me. With the guards he seemed off even more, almost scared. I didn't question when I saw the taller blonde man give Fury money, but when he looked to me I could see something familiar about him. Now that I thought about it the other man I seemed to recognize as well.

"Doctor, thank you for coming," Fury spoke shaking the supposed doctors hand.

"Uhh, thanks for asking so kindly," The shorter dark haired man spoke, holding his hands Close to his chest after he shook the directors hand. "So- How long am I exactly staying?"

"Once we get our hands on the Tesseract, you're in the clear," As my boots touched the steal tile the floor around me started to begin to cover with a blue glow. I jumped back into my seat almost knocking it over, I focused hard enough and the chair moved back to its's normal sitting position. My jaw clenched as I saw the few people who had stopped were staring to me. As I stared back to them I realized where I had seen them, Dad had spread those reports in the living room the night Phil saw me in the elevator. That's where I recognized them.

"Your Doctor Banner!" I exclaimed standing up off my chair, it being sent back against the wall. I closed my hands to fists and brought them close to my sides, looking at the floor. My eyes shut and I took a calming breath. "Sorry..."

"Uhh... Yes, I am," He responded to me lowly, obviously confused.

"I just reconized you for your work with Nuclear Physics," I gave a soft smile then turned and motioned to the blonde man. "And your Captain Rogers." He nodded, still in shock of me shooting the chair across the room.

"Alright, Jaedyn. Thank you," Fury said, patting my shoulder as well as giving me a scolding look with his one eyes. "Anyways Doctor Banner, we're sweeping every wirelessly accessible camera on the planet. Cellphones, laptops. If it's connected to a satellite, it's eyes and ears for us." I tucked my arms close to me in hopes of keeping my new found abilities in check.

"You have to narrow the field. How many spectrometers do you have access to?" The Doctor asked an began to take off his jacket getting comfortable.

"How many are there?" Nick asked an looked to him, I kept my distance from everyone making sure I didn't accidentally send someone across the room, or out the bridge window that would end up sending them plummeting down to what I could only think was the ocean below us.

"Call every lab you know, tell them to put the spectrometers on the roof and calibrate them for gamma rays. I'll rough out a tracking algorithm based on cluster recognition. At least we could rule out a few places. Do you have somewhere for me to work?" Banner looked around the deck then stopped to Natasha who had lead the men onto the bridge yet didn't say a word finally stood when Fury spoke to her. I had noticed she was giving me a concerned look, Fury or Phil must have informed her as she was trying to comfort me. I kept a farther distance, I didn't want to hurt her, or anyone.

"Agent Romanoff, would you show Dr. Banner to his laboratory, please." Fury motioned for him to follow her. Natasha nodded and walked off, leading Banner down the hall. She had shot me a quick smile that only last a second, but it did give me some comfort. "Agent Stark, as much as you do not like this. For the time being your going to need to remain in the room you woke up in. For both your protection and the agents on this vessel, is that understood?"

"Sir, I want to speak with my father," I said lowly, stepping over to him, the room beginning to shake. "I will not move until then-"

"You'll do to as your told agent Stark. I will contact Tony and speak with him. Alright?" I sighed seeing Fury cross his arms. Meaning I wasn't going to be able to change his mind. I nodded once, feeling a bit better, as I knew he was a man of his word. I turned on a dime and walked towards the door, making my way over towards the elevator. I took a heavy breath leaning against the wall once I left the bridge feeling a heavy weight almost wearing me down. I felt the swell again and I held my arms close to me waiting. My body started to shake and I felt that same feeling as I did before. I tried to focus on a spot that I knew, the room where I woke did the trick. There was a blue flash and I was able to zone in on the bed, remembering how it felt and what it looked like. When I opened my eyes I exhaled heavily, my body relaxing as I was safer here than anywhere else right now.

The Captain was beyond confused as he watched this young woman have this blue energy shoot off her and cause a chair to fly back against the wall. When the young girl vanished and appeared on a monitor, somewhere else on the base it shocked him even more. He looked to the Director who had summoned him to the base and then back at the monitor. The girl fell back onto the bed and closed her eyes, warn out from what she just did. The director handed him a file, the name crossed out only seeing Confidential in big bold letters on the front.

"Look Captain, with HYDRA still a big thing today, it's important that you understand what's going on..." Steve took the file, giving a puzzled look to the man, before he looked at the file. "This should explain everything, all I'm gonna say is that compared to your experiment with Howard Stark, Dr. Abraham Erskine, and Peggy Carter... Operation Rebirth has nothing on this..." With one look at the file, only a few seconds, Steve looked up from the pictures and words on it his eyes widened.

"What is happening now, about all of this? Where is-" Steve raised his eyebrow accusingly at Fury.

"Here, Rogers. Though it's unknown, that's what makes it so dangerous... Tony Stark knows, but No one more can know about this Captain. No one, is that clear?" Reading into the file once more his eyes widened understanding. He nodded.

"Crystal clear."
