The Loop

Peter Parker had never once spoken to any of these people his life now likely depended on (with the exception of Iisan Takanashi).

This is as far as the author got before giving up on this chapter for eleven hours, completely and intentionally removing it from his mind because writers block sucks. During those eleven hours, he forgot to attend his writing internship so let's pray I don't get fired.

I had SAT prep in the way ok, you can't blame me.

Peter Parker had never once spoken to any of these people his life now likely depended on (with the exception of Iisan Takanashi).  Mara Olowe was just a tough, rather brunt girl who bullied under class men often, despite her father being one of the school teachers. Greydon Newberry was also one of the infamous school bullies, who knew no limits when it came to intentionally hurt someone emotionally or physically, sometimes both. He was the type of kid who might shove a freshmen in their locker because it's a laughable disney channel seeming situation and would cause nothing shame for the victim.

Then there was Jason Faith. One of the hottest boys in school, as Peter was told. He could see why girls swooned over him. He had the perfect face, perfect teeth, perfect eyes, perfect body, perfect everything, and most importantly, perfect hair. Somehow, the boy pulled off shoulder length messy unkempt hair without it tainting his beauty.

And lastly, Iisan Takanashi. A boy most people feared knowing, and knew to fear. Students often spread rumors of him bringing weapons to school, saying he was planning on shooting up the place which always causes panic. The goth was intimidating, and super tall compared to Peter who was about 5'8.

Not that Peter usually thought of this, but he suddenly became painfully aware that he was the only white kid in the group.  And of course, Greydon would point that out.

"Hey pasty boy, how fast can you run?" Greydon asked with a rude look on his face.

"I- uh-" Peter stammered.  Of course, now it was obvious.  Mara was African, Iisan was Japanese, and Jason and Greydon were Hispanic. Not that there was any shame in being the only white kid, for Mara was the only black kid.  And Iisan was the only Asian in the entire faculty. But Peter felt singled out.

Don't you hate it when white people are the minority 😔 the oppression is real guys /j

Even the author was Hispanic. Peter was alone. Dun dun dun.

"Come on spaghetti noodle," Greydon rolled his eyes.

"F-fairly fast."

"So if I told you to run that way to dissuade the staff stationed over by the storage, could you outrun them?"

"Um- yeah. I probably can." Peter stammered, thinking about how in the marvel comics Spider-Man can run over 200mph.

"Alright. This hall makes a loop. If you can run them off away from the loop, there's another one. Just do a figure eight basically, and if you've outrun them, keep heading down this hallway once you've circled back and the storage room will be there. The door is black."  Greydon instructed. "But if your noodle legs can't outrun them, you make a bee line to the room and try not to get caught."

"Ok, I think I can do this."

"Why not send Jason?" Mara asked.

"Cause Jason's gotta open the door." Greydon said.

"Wh- you mean you can't just open the door?!" Mara exclaimed.

"Takes two people to force open if you don't have a key."

"Wait, there's a key?!" Iisan's eyes went wide.

"Duh." Greydon smirked.

"You fucking idiots! They probably know you two broke into the storage earlier! We're screwed!" Iisan fumed.

"Chill dude it's fine." Greydon grumbled. Greydon hated Iisan, Peter could see it on his face and in his body language. Also because he remembered Greydon spray painting insults and vulgar things on the wall Iisan always hid behind during lunch break at school.  The two just simply didn't get along.

"No, we're probably gonna die now." Mara sighed. "Whatever, we got this far, it's worth another shot."

"So, run already noodle boy." Greydon said sternly.

"Alright- erm- good luck?"

"Yeah, maybe we'll see you when this is all over." Jason said.

"Not looking forward to stumbling upon your corpse on our way back." Greydon chuckled.

"R-right." Peter looked down the hall around the corner where the faculty members were huddled around each other.

"Wait for my signal, actually." Greydon said. He urged the others to cross the gap of the hall quietly without the notice of the faculty. Peter was still on the other side when Greydon made a motion for him to go.

Oh god this better work. Peter thought and jumped into the hall. The employees didn't notice. He stood there awkwardly for a while, before coughing to get their attention.

"Hey, what are you doing out here?" One of them said.

"Bathroom?" Peter said hesitantly. One of the staff pulled out a small hand gun.

"There's no bathrooms this way." One said sternly. "What are you doing."

"Trying not to die, I guess." Peter shrugged. That's when he knew it was time to run. He sprinted down another hall and made a turn, heading straight for the first loop Greydon mentioned. He sensed the staff charging after him, and knew they all had guns.

He ran, and he ran fast. He was way ahead of the staff members, and had to slow so that they actually didn't lose sight of him. He had to be the distraction. He heard a gunshot, a warning. Nothing was actually aimed at him, but her knew he'd be in danger soon enough.

He made a turn around the first loop and saw Dr. Braunt standing quite a ways down the hall. "Shit!" Peter exclaimed, sliding into a wall from the momentum of his turn. He stumbled around and eventually bolted down another hallway. "Ugh Greydon's gonna kill me!" He said to himself as he ran away from the path he'd been instructed to follow.

By now his heart was racing. He didn't know who or what he could possibly run into, he just knew he had to be strong enough to outwit them. He wasn't sure if he was being perused or not by that point. He slid into another hall where more staff were standing, examining a room through a glass window.

"Shit shit!" Peter said and turned around. His persuades were right down the hall now too. "Shit! Crap! Shit!" He spun around and opened a door, dashing inside the room. He heard another gun shot sound, a second threat. He slammed the door shut behind him.

He found he was now in another set of hallways, a maze. And he was already lost. There were doors along the halls, but something was off. It felt strange in those halls, like he was being watched.

Peter continued to run. He heard the door open, and the gunmen barged inside. Desperate to actually shake them off his trail, Peter opened one of the doors to escape them.

His jaw dropped when he saw what was inside.

"Get away from the room kid!" One of the men shouted. Peter was frozen, horrified by the sight in front of him.

"Did you not hear us?!" One of them shot the walk next to Peter. They weren't actually intending to hit him. He knew it. "Step away from the room!"

"Wh-" Peter looked back to them, still frozen in shock. "What is-"

He ran. He ran away as fast as his legs could carry him. He felt sick, nauseated by what he'd just seen.  It could only have been described as a monster, unrecognizable and hideously mutilated. He didn't want to think of it, but that image was now permanently etched in his mind.

He was too scared to open any other doors, but saw one with glass that lead back to the halls he'd been in previously. That monster was still in his mind, but what he could let go of was the fact that that thing was no animal.

It was a human.

Peter skid across the floor to a halt. Just down the hall was the black door that lead to the storage room, which Greydon and the other's still inside.

"Shit!" He exclaimed, turning down yet another hall and running for it. His only option was to go back to the room now, he just didn't know how to get there. The halls were like a maze of mimicking patterns. They all looked the same, all mirrored each other. He had no idea how to navigate it.

He ran around a corner and ran straight into someone's body. He panicked, both he and the other person collapsing to the floor with the sudden collision. The person clobbered him on top his head with a fist, attacking Peter with insane strength.

"Wait- wait!" Peter recognized them. "Terrance stop! It's me! Peter Parker!"

"Peter?!" Terrance stopped attacking Peter. "Oh god- I'm so sorry!"

"It's fine man." Peter said with a chuckled. "Geez, you're strong."

"I'm wrestler." Terrance said.

"... but you aren't trying to fight me like a wrestler would-"

"It doesn't matter, why are you alone?!" Terrance asked. Peter got up and helped Terrance off the floor. Peter's head throbbed from Terrance's attack.

"I'm supposed to be distracting the staff." Peter said. "What are you doing here?!"

"I heard gun shots!"

"They were just trying to scare me, that's all. No one's gotten hurt, I promise." Peter explained.

"How would you know? You're not with them! I think this plan is stupid!" Terrance pouted.

"I- well-" Peter sighed. "They're fine, ok? You shouldn't be here."

"It doesn't matter now, I'm out here already. We're getting those idiots away from that stupid room!" Terrance said bitterly.

"But-"

"I don't care that I'm blind, I'll beat anyones ass out here if I have to. I'm not weak. I know Iisan acted like I am but it really should be me out here instead of him. It's just-"

"Ok you're right, it doesn't matter." Peter sighed. "Ok I'll take you to the room but we can't get caught, ok? Where's your service dog anyways?"

"I didn't take him. It's hard to hide with a dog out here." Terrance said.

"Ok, can you manage?"

"Yeah dude I'm fine. I'm not crippled." Terrance chuckled.

Terry really acting like he Toph Beifong out here lol

"Um.. ok right. Well, here come on." Peter said and nudged Terrance down the hall. He didn't hear the people chasing him anymore. Al he had to do was get back on the loop and find the storage room without getting killed. Easy.

The two jogged down the halls, trying to keep quiet as they did so. Peter was cautiously making sure no one would catch them passing by the doors or windows as the went, and eventually he found the loop again.

"We're close." Peter said. "The room is somewhere down this-"

He was interrupted by the sound of a gunshot.
