Week two

TW: panic attack

Part three of "hello?"

Day 8:
Peter woke up with a terrible headache, which was normal now. He'd been getting headaches since he was first poisoned, and they had been worse than he's ever felt. They made it nearly impossible to do anything, key word nearly. He of course, got up and got dressed. He stumbled into the kitchen and took a seat at the bar. For some reason a feeling of uneasiness washed over him. It wasn't like his spidey sense so he didn't think he was in danger, but he also did. It made it hard for him to breathe and he stood up suddenly.

"Peter? What's wrong?" Steve asked from the couch where he was sketching.

"I- I don't know" he said his teethe snapped shut just as his eyes did.

"Hey kiddo, what's wrong are you ok?" Tony asked from behind his closed eyes. The feeling subsided enough for him to breathe. "Hey it's ok, come sit down" Tony hugged peter to his side and led him to the couch. When they were sitting peter fully relaxed and fell against Tony's side.

"It's ok now" he sniffled.

"Ok kiddo, if you really are ok now I have a meeting I need to go to, Pepper will kill me if I don't"

"Yeah go" peter nodded, however when tony stood up and left the room the feeling returned. He got up and walked through the halls to ease his mind but found it harder and harder to breathe. When he turned left for the second time his breathing stopped completely. He fell against the wall clutching his chest, it felt like he was choking on air but couldn't get enough. He barely registered the foot steps until they stopped right in front of him.

"Peter, look at me. Open your eyes please" when peter opened his eyes he was able to put a name to the voice. It was Bucky.

"Bucky I-i please make it stop I don't know what's happening." Without warning peter flung himself against Bucky chest, the sudden contact made breathing a little easier. "Wait" he forced himself to move away from Bucky and the breathing was impossible again, and when he fell back against buckets chest he could breathe, but that didn't stop the fact he still felt sick, and exhausted. The last time he'd had a panic attack had been horrible. But with his other symptoms this one was unbearable.

"Oh, ok let's get you to Bruce" Bucky helped peter up, not hearing the grunts peter made as his exhausted body was pulled upright, and kept him tight against his side, making sure to rub his hand up and down Peters arm, grounding him.

"Oh hey guys what's up?" Bruce asked setting down his cup of what seemed to be tea.

"I think I know Peters symptom for today" Bucky said, letting Peter sit on the lab station, but keeping his hand on his shoulder.

"Ok" Bruce said, walking over to join them.

"I think you could call it touch starved or something like that. He fell into a panic attack in the hallway and it stopped when he hugged me. Then started again when he let go"

"Ah, yeah that could very well be it. Can we test it real quick, do you know if it's with everyone or if he needs certain people?" Bruce asked stepping away.

"I'm not sure, I guess we'll find out it's not like this is going to go away soon" Bucky answers also backing away.

They watched as Peters face morphed into one of concern, then fear. He started to shake and breathe heavily, looking around seeming to have tunnel vision. Not noticing Bucky or Bruce were only a few feet away.

"I don't like this" Bucky said, "can I go over now?"

"I don't either, I'll do it we have to see if it's with anyone" Bruce started walking towards peter and pulled him into a hug. Bucky watched as Peters face changed into one of relief. Again not noticing the exhaustion that costed his features.

Bruce felt Peter breathing becoming steady. "Bucky I don't think we can leave him alone from now until Loki gets back"

"Yeah, I'll get the others to meet us in the common room" Bucky stood up and walked over to them. Both Bruce and Bucky helped peter down and put an arm each over his shoulders. "Jarvis?"

"Already done mr Barnes" Jarvis's voice rang out. With that the trio made their way out of the lab and into the hallway. The walked for a few minutes before making it to the common room where the others were already seated.

"Hey Petey, What is this?" Tony asked, standing up to meet them.

"Dad?" Peter whispered.

"Yeah" Tony nodded, he was a little surprised when peter ran to him and hugged him as if he hadn't seen him and hour ago. "Are you ok?"

"I'll tell you later Tony but take him to your labs or something, and don't leave him alone."

"Ok" Tony replied, he walked out with Peter who wouldn't let go, "kiddo please tell me what's wrong"

"I, I guess I just get a weird feeling when I don't have contact. Like I start to spiral and I had a panic attack. I think I just need someone, and now I think it can only be you, it was Bruce and Bucky before because you weren't there but now I can't-"

"Ok kiddo, I won't leave you again ok?"

"Ok"

Meanwhile upstairs, Bruce and Bucky were explaining the situation. When they were interrupted by an audio file from Jarvis.

"Hey, so Peters down here with me and he wanted me to let you know it can't be anyone. It's only me, he was fine with Bruce and Bucky before because he knew I wasn't there but he's touch starved, he was as a kid and it's all coming back now."

"Alright, we'll that solves that."

"What about if Tony needs the bathroom, or we get called into battle?" Asked clint.

"Oh you're right, we'll we have to figure it out as it happens I guess. Now I'll be back, I'm going to give Tony Peters enhanced melatonin pills so he can sleep without Tony there. Actually that might work for those situations, keep him asleep long enough for him to never notice Tony."

"Great idea Bruce" Steve added.

"Thanks Cap, now I've got to go and you have to get started on peter work. He's definitely not going to be able to work now"

• headache
• low grade fever

• slight blurred vision
• temporary numbness in the limbs

Day 9:
Peter woke up with intense pain in his stomach, not the type that make you have to throw up but the type that just hurt. He dragged himself out of bed and tried to ignore the feeling of needing someone to hug him. He couldn't be a burden forever, he would just bury the panic down deep.

He stumbled down the hallway, it seemed like his life was on repeat with a different obstacle to add each time. He paused halfway to bend over and clutch his stomach. Maybe he was just hungry?

He entered the kitchen and found that it was empty. So he grabbed a bagel from the basket on the counter, cut it and put it in the toaster. He grabbed the cream cheese while he was waiting. Just before the bagel was done toasting he grabbed his stomach again and whimpered. He didn't like this at all.

He managed to spread the cream cheese on his bagel, put it away and sit on the couch before his stomach hurt again. He took a bite of his bagel to distract himself and took his phone out of his pocket. He hadn't texted Ned or Mj since the day before he was poisoned. He opened his phone to one hundred and twenty seven texts and miss calls from the group chat. Not to mention about fifty each from Ned and MJ separately.

Neddo in the chair: peter where are you this isn't funny anymore. Our teacher told us you were getting your work sent to the tower.

MJ the queen: yeah I hate to agree but he's right, I'm worried Peter. You've never missed this much school, and if you did you would have told us.

Neddo in the chair: did you get kidnapped because that seems to be the only possible explanation for this.

MJ the queen: I'm starting to think that too, please answer us peter.

Superboy: hey, listen I'm sorry for not responding. We had a battle which you probably heard about, and I was poisoned by some kind of alien tech. I still am but we have to wait for Loki to come back with the Antivenom. I've been getting symptoms everyday and they're only going to get worse.

Neddo In the chair: oh thank god you're alive

Neddo in the chair: hold up did you say poisoned?

MJ the queen: peter why didn't you tell us, I am glad you're ok for now though

Superboy: look I'm sorry I haven't been on my phone since the incident, I've been busy basically dying. I want to see you guys though, do you think we can meet after school gets out?

Neddo in the chair: are they going to let you out?

Superboy: there's no one here rn so...

MJ the queen: ok, but if you do much as sneeze the wrong way we're taking you back. Peter you said you have a list of symptoms that can't be good.

Superboy: great see you guys then!

Peter turned his phone off and put it away, he sighed. Closing his eyes to stop the nausea, and the need for contact which was very strong. But he couldn't ask Tony to leave a meeting just to hug him.

Time passed relatively quickly, before he knew it he was walking towards Central Park. He stopped to sit under their favorite tree and took a deep breath. That walk took a lot out of him, he felt tired. Not to mention nauseas and cold, despite feeling cold he knew he had a fever because when he held the back of his hand to his head it was warm. He tried to bundle up in the light jacket he had, he should've bought a bigger coat.

"Hey peter!" Ned called walking over, MJ next to him.

"Oh god peter are you sure you can be out here you  look terrible"

"Yeah I mean no one stopped me so..."

"Ok" MJ said walking over to hug him. He was able to take a deep breath for the first time today. Ned hugged him after and he breathed again.

"Let's walk?" Ned offered.

"No peter, you shouldn't walk let's sit and talk"

"No I'm fine let's walk it's nice out" he lied straight through his teeth. MJ seemed cynical but followed anyway. They headed towards the center of the park and began talking.

"So what symptoms do you have?" Ned asked.

" well, off the top of my head I know, nausea, headaches, chills, low grade fever, anxiety, slight blurred vision, numbness and insomnia. But there are a lot more, Bruce Lee's track of them in a medical journal thing"

"Damn, are you sure you feel fine?"

"I guess, I want to be able to get out while I still can because it's going to get so much worse I don't know how to deal"

"Yeah, well we're here for you peter, if you need us we can come to you" MJ said, Ned nodded.

"Thanks guys" The trio walked until peter felt dizzy, the world seemed to tilt on its axis. He stumbled slightly but luckily Ned stopped him from face planting. He helped him sit on a near by bench and pulled Peters phone out of his pocket. Peters head hurt so extremely that he didn't hear anything being said. Within a few minutes the incredibly loud noise of the iron man suit landed next to him.

"Kid I could have told you not to go out, sorry Peters friends but he can't come visit until he's better, and thank you for calling" peter was picked up and felt wind wrap around him. He closed his eyes and only opened them because a blinding light was shining through his closed eyelids.

Once they opened they immediately shut and Peters hands automat covered them as he whined.

"Jarvis lights dimmed"

"Thank you" peter murmured as he took his hands off his face, "I'm sorry for going out but it's already getting bad I just wanted to be able to go out while I could"

"That's ok peter, I just wish you had told me because I could have driven you. Or had your friends picked up and driven here"

"I'm really sorry"

"It's fine really, now it's late you kind of passed out for a moment. Bruce was able to take blood while you were out so you don't need to worry about that"

"Ok good I hate needles"

"Yeah I know kiddo, any way your melatonin is on the side next to a cup of water. Take it when you want to sleep ok, good night kiddo I love you"

"Good night dad".

"C-an chock, pan-pancake?" A look of fear darkened his face and he saw everyone turn to look at him.

"Kid?"

"I was trying to ask for chocolate chip pancakes I-"

"Ok so minor speech impediment" Bruce muttered typing on his tablet.

Tears fell from Peters eyes. "Kiddo it's going to be ok" Tony reassured hugging peter.

Day 13:
Peter tossed and turned until he woke up and when he did he stood up immediately. For some reason he wasn't able to sit still he found himself pacing as he tried to put on a shirt and actually sprinted tot he kitchen despite the pain in his entire body. It hurt but he couldn't stop. After breakfast, which he ate rapidly, tapping his foot the whole time, he jogged to the elevator and went down to the training room where he ran laps around the gym.

"Son, you should be resting" Steve called when he walked in, peter was already on his thirtieth lap.

"Trust me cap I want to but I can't stop. Please stop me" he called back. Cap stepped in front of peter and held him against his chest. His legs were still moving and he was trying to get out of caps grip. "Don't let go, can you tale me to Bruce I need to stop"

"Yeah" Steve said using his muscles to keep peter as still as possible while he walked to Bruce's lab.

"Hello again" Bruce said, meeting them as they walked in, his eyebrows formed a frown when he saw what was happening.

"He told me to stop him"

"I can't stop moving please help me"

"Ok come here" he led Steve and peter to a bed and laid peter on it. "This is a muscle relaxant, it should help your body calm down while keeping you awake, it will be like being paralyzed but know you are not"

"Jarvis call tony"

"Yes sir, connecting"

"What do you want cap I'm in the middle of a meeting?"

Day 14:
When peter woke up he found himself incredibly exhausted. Unable to think straight let alone get up. He gave up the idea of going to get breakfast and instead closed his eyes. It was so much worse, he was at the half way point to the worst of it and he didn't want to go on. He was sick, tired, anxious, and in need of a hug, quite literally. It was a good thing he was exhausted because his body wasn't able to throw itself into a panic attack at the loss of human connection.

He didn't know how long he spent laying there, eyes slightly dropping. Watching as the room got ever so brighter. He thought the fatigue he had before was bad but he had no idea. His breathing and heart beat were slowed to an abnormal almost concerning level. Wait how did he know that?

"What do we do?" Asked Tony who peter only just realized was in the room, along with Bruce.

"I don't know if there's anything we can do Tony, if we give him caffeine pills it could speed up his heart too quickly and cause him to experience tachycardia"

"Can you speak in slightly smarter than average but still now a doctor language"

"His heart would speed up too much, practically reversing the symptoms now"

"So we let him lay here?" Tony asked.

"It's the best option, can you grab a wheel chair?"

"Yeah" Tony stood you and left the room, Peters eyes lazily followed.

"It's going to be alright in the end peter, I know it doesn't seem like it now but you are half way there I believe you can do this"

Tony entered again with the whee chair and they helped peter into it. His head rolled back, he didn't have the energy to hold it up so Bruce did as tony rolled him to the movie room. "Let's watch some start wars" Tony said, he and Bruce lifted peter onto the massive couch.

Peter just watched as the scene changed, to exhausted to find meaning in it. Lights flashed in front of his eyes, blue and red. He didn't know what it meant though. He didn't know at all.
