After math of Five Simple Words
Everyone on that field was dead tired.
Thanos was dead and his army was gone. There weren't as many casualties as expected. That was a plus.
A major down fall was that no body wanted to move, even with the small amount of power everyone harnessed. But it was still draining and painful, especially for Tony and Peter.
"I have got to say, I didn't see that one coming," Doctor Strange starts, "Out of all of the possible scenarios, that was not one of them." He said as he slowly walked to Tony.
"Well, the kid is full of surprises." Tony says almost not audible, and flashes a small smile at Peter, who returns the gesture.
"Well as a thank you, my companions who didn't join the fight and myself will be transporting everyone home." Strange tells everyone.
"Oh thank god. Im not moving." Clint says trying to lighten the mood.
There was still no way to deny the fact that people were lost today, Natasha among them. Peter remained quiet as he thought about this.
"I'll call your aunt when we get back. I want you coming to the cabin with me and Pepper. There are some people I want you to meet." Tony said. Peter simply nodded.
"Where am I taking you?" Strange asked Tony.
"Wherever you took Pepper."
"Cabin?" Tony nodded.
"Peter?" Strange asked the silent boy.
"He is coming with me."
The wizard opened a portal and they all saw Pepper waiting on the other side. Leaning on each other, Tony and Peter limped through and Strange said his good byes and thank you's, then left.
A crying Pepper ran to meet Tony and hugged him hard enough to not hurt but to also not treat him like a glass doll. After that she saw Peter and hugged him the same way. He was surprised at the action but returned it anyway.
"Thank you for saving him." She whispered in his ear. They both knew what would have happened if Peter didn't step in. Peter smiled and nodded.
"It's been a long day for you both. I have a room set up for you Peter. I called May and she will be here in morning as well."
"Daddy!!" A very excited toddler shouted from the front door. How much did Peter miss?
"Hey sweetie!" Tony said while picking her up.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too, Mo."
"Hey, I know you. Your the boy from the picture! Your daddy's favorite superhero!" Morgan shouted as she jumped from Tony's arms to Peter's.
Peter was caught off guard at the action but caught her before she fell.
"Your Peter Parker!" He smiled.
"Im Morgan. Morgan Stark." Peter paused. This was Tony's daughter. Tony would have left a daughter behind.
"Nice to meet you Morgan." Peter rasped out.
Tony and Pepper smiled at the interaction.
"Morgan! Where are you! I can't have lost you already!" A boys voice called and the owner of the voice walked to the door. He was tall, with blond hair and
who looked to be about Peter's age, maybe older.
"Glad your alive old man!" The boy exclaimed.
"Hey Harley. Good to see you."
"It's barely been two days."
"Shut your mouth."
The boy, Harley, laughed and looked to the shy kid who held Morgan.
"Well, well. Spiderman, Peter Parker in the flesh. Nice to meet you, I'm Harley Keener-Stark." Harley said, holding out a hand.
Peter paused again. Tony would have left two kids.
"It's nice to meet you too, Harley." Peter replied while shaking his hand.
"Harley, can you show Peter his room please?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah. Follow me." Harley replied. The two boys walked in silence until they were out of ear shot of the adults and Harley slowed.
"Uh, thank you. For saving him. I wanted to be on the field and go with him as well but someone had to look out for Morgan. It means a lot and I owe you."
"You don't owe me anything."
"I really do. When the snap happened, I was at home and my mom was picking my sister up from school. Neither of them dusted, but neither of them made it home. A couple hours later, I was worried out of my mind and a cop came to my door saying a driver dusted and the car ran head on into my families car. I did the only thing I could think of. I called Tony. He answered when he got back to Earth and when I told him what happened, he took me in. Losing family sucks and you saved the family I have, so thank you." Harley finished with tears in his eyes.
"I know how it sucks to lose family. I lost my parents at a young age and my uncle sort of recently. I only have my aunt now and I'm terrified of losing her. When Tony almost did what he did, I thought about how he not only was a mentor and friend, but I consider him family and I'm not losing any more family for a while. Not when I can stop it." Peter told him. Harley smiled at Peter.
"Well thank you anyway. You're probably exhausted from saving the universe. Come on, your room is this way." Peter followed Harley to a door at the end of the hall. It was a smaller room than the towers but bigger than the one at his apartment. It was nice. What really surprised him though was the decoration. It was decorated with everything he ever told Tony he liked.
"Tony and Pepper kind of went all out on the decorating. I helped by giving them my gen z knowledge. I will leave you to sleep for the next week, so good night." Harley said, chuckling at his jokes.
"Night." Peter replied. When the door was closed, he almost immediately tore his suit off and started a shower. Yeah, he was dead tired and sore but all he could see were snippets of the battle. The death of both sides was traumatizing to see. He took a quick shower due to his cuts and bruises hurting, changed into pajamas, and fell into the bed.
He heard a knock. When the door opened, he saw Tony.
"Hey Peter." He said quietly and walked over to sit on the bed.
"Hey." Peter replied. He knew what was coming.
"Why did you do it?" His mentor asked.
"Do you really want me to tell you?"
"Yes. I want a honest answer. Please."
"I have lost so many people. Its always the ones closest to me who get hurt. My parents, my uncle, and my friends and aunt are in danger constantly. And they don't even know it. You are my friend and my mentor and I saw you about sacrifice your self to save the world. What has the world ever done for you to make you want to save it? You could have let Steve do it. Or Carol. Or anyone else who had the gauntlet but you chose to use it. And you could have died! You would have left behind a son and daughter. And daughter who needs her dad and a son who depends on you. And Pepper would have lost the love of her life. And I would have lost you! I would have lost another parent." With tears streaming down the poor boys face, Peter didn't realize he called Tony a parent. Tony noticed. Tony was crying too.
"I'm sorry Peter. I'm so sorry. But do you want to know what the world has done for me? It introduced me to a brave, kind, and selfless spider. When I was told there was a chance to fix the dusting, I said no. I had Morgan, Harley and Pepper to think about. That night I was doing the dishes and realized how quiet it was. Even after the years had passed, I still wasn't used to the silence. You always had something to say. Anyway, water splashed on a shelf in the kitchen and on that shelf was the internship picture we took in order to convince your aunt it was real. I saw that picture and remembered everything that made me want to call you my kid. I realized how much I missed you. I cracked the code to time travel that night. I wouldn't have tried to use the stones if I had known you wouldn't be with your aunt, your friends, Pepper, Harley, and Morgan. It was all for you, Peter. And now I get to be a part of the life I wanted for you. If that's okay with you?" Tony finished. They were both crying messes. Peter didn't respond. But he did give Tony a big hug.
"If course I'm okay with it. Thank you." He said. They stayed like that for a little longer until Tony noticed Peter could barely keep his eyes open.
"Time for bed kid." Peter nodded and fell onto the pillow. Tony was about to shut the door when he heard,
"Good night dad." From a very sleep deprived Peter.
"Good night son."
~~~Time Skip~~~
Peter woke up to the smell of pancakes and coffee. He looked at the clock and it was 10 in the morning. He only decided to leave the warmth of the bed when his stomach grumbled loudly. As he was walking down the stairs after getting ready, Peter smiled when he heard the familiar laugh of his Aunt May.
"Good morning everyone." Peter said.
"Peter!" May shouted and ran to give her nephew a big hug, "Never do anything like that ever again! If you do, no more anything for the rest if your life."
"I promise I wont. I love you Aunt May."
"I love you too. Now come on, let's get you some food."
May decided that they didn't have to get home just yet so everyone spent some time catching up, playing games, eating, and watching movies. Tony and May also told Peter about the split custody between the two that has been in the works for a while.
In Peter's eyes, this was his family. It was crazy, weird and dysfunctional, but it was his. And he loved every minute of it.
