ItsJustKai: It's been a while but I'm back with a one shot by Starryoo . This one includes her OC named Marinelle.
Thanks, Star!
"What's on your mind, Parker?" Marinelle Cheng asked, twirling her chopsticks as she poked her food, the Chow Mein noodles that she had made the night before. She lifted her eyes to the boy across her table.
(ItsJustKai: MIRACULOUS SIMPLY DA BEST!)
The boy, known to his classmates as Peter Parker (or Penis Parker by Flash) looked up. He smiled slightly to the girl before him and bit his lip. "It's nothing really-"
"He's thinking about the field trip that Mr. Harrington is going to announce at the Decathlon meeting today." Ned interrupted, stopping before he could continue any more when Peter gave a look that could only be translated into 'bro wtf'.
Ned shrugged apologetically with an innocent grin.
Peter rolled his eyes, sighed but nodded dejectively as if his greatest secret was just exposed.
Marinelle laughed softly. She always laughed, she had what she called 'the never ending giggles.' "Okay. To be fair, I'm curious about where we are going as well." She said as she finally stopped her quiet laughs. "Since Ned just told me that you've been thinking about the trip, you're going to the meeting right?"
"Ye-No! We have patrol, the internship-"
"If I'm not going on patrol for this meeting, neither are you," Marinelle told him, taking another mouthful of noodles in the process.
Ned nodded. "Dude, you already missed three meetings in a row, any more and Michelle is going to probably hunt you down," He told him. "Come on dude, take it from your crime-fighting partner and your guy in the chair when they say that you should go today." He nudged him.
"What he said. You gotta show up, I'm starting to run out of excuses for why you're not here." Marinelle said with a playful frown. "I'm to the point that I have to say that you flew away on a spaceship or something as an excuse for why you disappeared on a field trip."

The rest of the day went by rather quickly. After a lot more convincing on Marinelle and Ned's part, as well as the threat of telling MJ (which no one wants), they had managed to make sure that Peter attends the meeting instead of running off to be Spider-Man.
"Hello, Decathlon National Champions! I'm sure you are all pumped about the announcement of our field trip!" Mr. Harrington greeted the team as they entered the room and took their spots. Marinelle and Ned sat on either side of Peter. MJ looked up from her book and her spot across from them, nodding approvingly when she saw Peter. Peter let out a breath of relief, glad that he wasn't going to get his ears chewed off over him missing the past few meetings.
Marinelle just smiled, knowing exactly what he was thinking. She wasn't actually part of the Decathlon team seeing as she was their manager of more technical things so MJ could focus on leading the team. Her role that was added after Liz moved school.
Mr. Harrington continued on, the excitement clear in his voice. "I am excited to announce that our trip will be to Stark Industries!" He announced.
The entire team erupted into excited chatter and whoops of excitement. Ned looked shocked and delighted, and even MJ seemed to have been a bit surprised by this news. Peter looked shocked for a moment before his face changed to one of horror. Marinelle sent him a knowing look, even though she smirked a little as she leaned back against her chair. She knew what he was thinking about.
Peter knew that Marinelle could tell what he was thinking from that smirk. He was so screwed. There was no doubt in his mind that Pepper and Tony knew about this trip too, seeing that he had told them that his team won the Decathlon during one of the many conversations they've had. He'd be lucky if they (more specifically, Tony. Pepper wouldn't do that) didn't reveal his and Marinelle's identities, but getting embarrassed seemed unavoidable. Not to mention-
His spider-sense alerted him beforehand, but Flash's kick from under the table still startled him enough for Peter's head to jerk upwards. Flash didn't say anything, but his smirk said enough. Flash could be stupid and immature sometimes, but he wasn't stupid enough apparently to insult or threaten Peter in front of a teacher. Especially Mr. Harrington, who was obviously more fond of Peter than him.
Marinelle's smirk faded away, glaring over at Flash. Flash's smirk dropped as well. Flash had wanted to impress her ever since she first came to school, but how he treated Peter was nowhere near being impressive to a girl.
The rest of the meeting went by quickly, with Mr. Harrington continue about permission forms and rules about the trip, but Marinelle doubted that anyone was listening. Ned looked like he just won the lottery, which would have been understandable if he didn't come over to the tower once every two weeks on average.
The trio got up and left after the meeting ended. Peter and Marinelle said goodbye to Ned before heading off to do their patrols as Spider-Man and the White Spider, changing before swinging off into the streets of New York. Peter was on edge during the entire patrol by the entire field trip thing, and he felt himself relax when no one mentioned it for the remainder of the day until it was dinner time.
"We have a field trip to Stark Industries next week," Marinelle told Aunt May as they prepared dinner, which was less of disaster meatloaf and actual food now that Marinelle was here. Peter lingered nearby, setting the table before he stopped at her words.
Dang it. He thought to himself.
"A field trip to Stark Industries?" Aunt May repeated, pointing her wooden spoon to the two of them as she turned from the counter. "You kids already go there every week for that 'internship' of yours. Did Iron Man decide he needed Spider-Man and White Spider at the tower when they are supposed to be at school as well?" May asked, she still wasn't a big fan of Tony even after she found out about that her nephew and his best friend were crime-fighting, spider-themed superhero.
"Peter doesn't want to go." Marinelle continued, tucking a stray strand of her black hair behind her ear before grinning at Peter. Peter groaned silently to himself. Did she have to expose him?
"He probably wants to hide at home so he doesn't get embarrassed." Aunt May replied.
Peter groaned even more, how is it that these two knew him better than he knew himself?
"You're not skipping this trip, Parker. This is the perfect chance to prove our classmates wrong." Marinelle chimed in as she stirred the pasta sauce. "If you don't show up, we're never going to hear the last of Flash."
"But- Mr. Stark- Our identities!" Peter tried to protest.
"Excuses~ Excuses~" Marinelle sang. "He may have gone 'I am Iron Man' but I don't think he'll go 'my interns are Spider-Man and White Spider'." She said firmly.
Peter slumped in his seat, throwing his hands up in defeat. He knew better than to keep arguing.
~•~•~•~•~
There was a certain buzz in the air that intensified the closer the school bus got to the huge tower. Peter couldn't help but feel a sense of dread despite Marinelle's reassurance. With his Parker Luck™, he couldn't help but feel as if things will all go down.
And of course, Ned somehow got the flu the day before the trip, and he had told Peter as if he was on his deathbed that he must go on the field trip. He couldn't let his friend down.
Flash moved seats while the bus was moving, sitting down beside MJ, who was reading a book in the seat in front of Peter and Marinelle. "Hey, Penis Parker!" He said, keeping his words quiet enough that the bus driver and the teacher couldn't hear. "Are you excited to be exposed to the entire team that you lied about your Stark Internship?" He hissed.
MJ was glaring daggers at him but had taken out her Crisis Notebook and began to sketch. Marinelle went quiet, staring at Flash.
"I wasn't lying," Peter said, wincing slightly at the nickname and the false accusations. "I really do have an internship." That wasn't a lie, Mr. Stark gave him and Marinelle's actual internships after the entire Vulture incident.
"And Iron Man is marrying Captain America instead of Pepper Potts," Flash said in dramatic sarcasm.
Marinelle would have laughed at that idea if she wasn't so inclined to punch Flash right now.
Thankfully, the bus pulled to a stop in front of the building and all the students began to file out. Flash looked over to Peter, mouthing 'Just you wait, Penis.' to him before he followed everyone else out. Peter slumped slightly, and Marinelle patted him on the back.
"I can't wait to see his face when he finds out that he was wrong!" Ned had told Peter and Marinelle a few nights before when they discussed the trip. "We'll be the coolest kids in school! Flash would never bother us again!"
Peter sighed still looked nervous. He wished Ned was on the trip with the two of them. They both needed their guy in the chair. Marinelle looked over to him and tried to smile as reassuring as she could, knowing what he was thinking before patting him on the back.

"Welcome Decathlon national champions!" The tour guide, Thomas, said as the team entered the tower. The team cheered at the words.
"We'll start the tour in a moment, and we will have a QnA with Mr. Stark, and Ms. Potts after lunch." He began. The team got even more excited, they didn't know they were going to meet Iron Man.
Peter groaned internally, wishing that he could bury himself in a hole. Marinelle waved to Thomas, who caught sight of her and sent a small wave back.
"I'm going to call everyone's names one by one to receive a personalized security card. All of these are set to guest and are White Deltas, the lowest level of clearance, reserved for school tours and the press." He explained. "You have free access of the public elevator, the cafeteria and the lobby, but I need to scan my card first before you can enter anywhere else. Mine is a Yellow Beta, Yellow is typically the clearance that interns receive." He explained as he swiped the card on the scanner.
"Thomas Kingsley. Intern. Security Clearance: Yellow Beta." FRIDAY announced, startling the group. Thomas simply chuckled.
"Meet FRIDAY, an AI created by Tony Stark. She is everywhere in the building, so if you ever need something and I am not around, you can ask her." Thomas explained.
"Make sure to keep your card visible on you at all times! Don't lose it! It's the policy of Stark Industries that we don't make replacement cards due to security reasons." He continued, looking over to Peter and Marinelle. Marinelle just gave the older intern a thumbs up, and Peter smiled nervously.
As Thomas began handing out the cards, Marinelle and Peter clipped theirs onto their sweaters. Their cards were red with gold accents (Security Clearance: Red Alpha), showing that they were associates of Tony Stark, but they didn't need their cards anyways, as FRIDAY recognized the two of them.
Even with a highly intelligent AI being able to recognize them, they still brought the cards along with them just so they didn't seem suspicious or get Tony and Happy on their tails in case they thought they lost a security card with such a high clearance. It's really just the latter reason most of the time, but their classmates were here today.
"Welcome back Peter Parker, should I alert the boss that you are in the building?" FRIDAY asked sweetly.
"Oh um... He already knows I am here FRIDAY, there's no need." Peter replied, blatantly aware that almost everyone was watching him, shocked.
"Welcome back Marinelle Cheng, I assume that Tony is also informed that you are here with Peter."
Marinelle nodded. "Yuppers Fri, we'll be seeing him and Pepper in a bit so we'll be good." She replied.
"Very well, just call me if you need anything," FRIDAY replied.
FRIDAY's words, sadly, did not escape Flash, who was so shocked that he barely registered the fact that his name got called to grab a pass before he was nudged by one of the other team members.
"What clearance is Red?" Flash asked, loud enough that everyone in the lobby turned. Peter flinched.
Thomas calmly began to explain. "Red is the highest clearance reserved for Mr. Stark, Happy Hogan, Ms. Potts and the Avengers, as well as any of their allies, however, as of r-"
A triumphant look was on Flash's face as he began walking towards Peter and his friends, interrupting Thomas. "You couldn't even get the right colour of card Parker! If you're gonna make a fake, at least do your research! You probably hacked the AI! I knew you weren't-"
Thomas cleared his throat. "-and as of recently, two passes were given by Mr. Stark himself to his two new personal interns, Ms. Cheng and Mr. Parker." Thomas finished an irritated look on his face from getting interrupted. Peter knows that Thomas' pet peeve was getting interrupted. He didn't blame him, getting interrupted sucks.
"W-what?" Flash managed to ask as he stumbled backwards, caught off guard.
"You heard me, I'll let you know that Stark Industries has a zero bullying tolerance as well. I would appreciate that you don't attempt to drag Mr. Parker or Ms. Cheng through the mud again." Thomas said sternly, narrowing his eyes at Flash until he began to glare daggers. If Natasha wasn't on the run, she would have been impressed.
Mr. Harrington had been about to intervene, appalled that one of the students from Midtown High would act in such a disrespectful manner. He looked to the tour guide gratefully. He'll talk to Flash during lunch. The teacher was, however, a bit surprised at the news. He knew that both Peter and Marinelle interned for Stark Industries, but he couldn't help but doubt the possibility even though he wanted to believe them, and the idea of them being Tony Stark's personal interns was shocking.
"Anyways~ Let's get on with the tour!" Thomas said cheerfully, his change of tone was dramatic as he began waving his clipboard to grab everyone's attention again before he began to lead them out of the lobby and to the first elevator.
~•~•~•~•~
It was lunch, and Peter was stunned (in a good way) to say that everything was so far good.
He and Marinelle got their food from the cafeteria. Marinelle was never one for cafeteria food, but the food at Stark Industries was actually good (unlike some schools) and they were told that they could eat for free, and who in their right mind would deny free food?
"The tour was actually pretty good, don't you think?" Marinelle asked, using her chopsticks to poke at her Caesar Salad before taking a bite. Peter knew that Marinelle hated using forks due to her habit of using chopsticks, and he could swear that she probably keeps a pair on her at all times.
"Definitely, I had only a vague idea what they were working on in the lower floors until today. It's cool to learn what Stark Industries does other than... you know, superhero business." Peter replied, taking a bit of his sandwich.
Flash didn't bother them after the entire FRIDAY incident, probably because he was actually intimidated by Thomas, and somehow actually had an IQ that was above 0. He wasn't in the cafeteria at first. Mr. Harrington had pulled him away from the group to talk to him about his behaviour, and when he came back in, his face showed that he was not in a happy mood. He looked like he was about to kick an innocent puppy.
Peter was actually enjoying the field trip. He had gotten more invested in what there was to see as Thomas brought them to floors and rooms that he hadn't seen before, mainly because Mr. Stark normally keeps him in the top floors. Marinelle wasn't a total science geek despite attending Midtown, but she had been fascinated by the information and backstory about each of the heroes when Thomas brought them to the Avengers' exhibits.
With the QnA was starting in a few minutes, and even though the field trip went great so far, Peter didn't need his Spidey Sense to know that things aren't going to go as smoothly as he would hope.
~•~•~•~•~
"Welcome Decathlon National Champions!" Tony began once everyone entered the room. "Yes, this is Tony 'I am Iron Man' Stark. Ms. Potts and I would gladly sit here all day and answer questions, but Ms. Potts claims my schedule says otherwise." This earned a chuckle from Pepper as well as a good number of the kids who were not currently awestruck.
"We'll have about forty-five minutes at most, make them count kids." He said. Hands were already shooting up before he even finished.
There were many questions. Some focussed on technology and science, and others were more personal. It was quite impressive how much they managed to cover within forty-five minutes, from anything like how difficult it was to make the first Iron Man suit to when the wedding was going to be. MJ stood out a lot from the crowd, her questions focussed more on Pepper than Tony, which was an uncommon sight on school tours.
When the time was almost up, Flash raised his hand, Peter winced when Tony called on him.
"Does Stark Industries take in interns that are still in high school?" He asked, perhaps a bit too eagerly. Marinelle facepalmed herself. Did he still have a shred of doubt when Thomas confirmed that they were interns, they had their own high clearance badges, and FRIDAY recognized them? This boy was really unbelievable sometimes. He was stupid enough to get a standing ovation.
Even one of the other team members looked at him and pretty much gave him a 'bro wtf' face.
"No, Stark Industries only accepts interns that are college-aged or older," Tony said with a frown, glancing over towards Marinelle and Peter. Spider-boy looked as if he was about to crawl and hide in the nearest hole he could find, and even Spider-girl seemed to have noticed that everyone kept switching their gaze back and forth from Tony and Pepper to them.
"You hear that, Parker?!" Flash said triumphantly as he turned to Peter and Marinelle. Marinelle felt bad for Peter, because Flash never picked on her, only Peter, but she didn't like his reason to not hate her.
"Back off Flash." She said to him, stepping before Peter.
"You even need your little girlfriend to protect you, how sweet, Penis," Flash said bitterly, and in his moment, he forgot that there were adults around.
Flash immediately realized his mistake.
"I'm sorry? What was that you said?" Pepper asked, looking towards Tony before staring at Flash.
Tony looked as if he was about to murder someone. Marinelle called it his Protective Dad face. Mr. Harrington was absolutely horrified and already stepped in to intervene.
"Listen, kid. Let me level with you. Peter here, is probably one of the smartest people I have ever known, minus Vision because he is pretty much the entire internet. Hell, despite my ego, I can say that he's probably as smart as I am if he had my resources." Tony said, walking towards Flash slowly, his face showing how mad he was.
"Marinelle and Peter are not just any interns, they are our personal interns," Pepper added as she stood beside her fiancé.
This wasn't news anymore unless no one believed Thomas when he first told everyone.
The pure shock and disbelief on Flash's face, however, was priceless.
"That's all the time we have today. I believe your bus is here now, right honey?" Tony said, still staring at Flash, who was getting more nervous by the second, before asking Pepper, who checked the time and nodded.
"Leave the building now before you are banned for life kid," Tony told Flash, who only nodded, even more nervous. "I'll turn him over to you to deal with." The billionaire said to Mr. Harrington, who nodded before he began to lead his class out and Tony stopped him.
"Oh, and if it's okay," Tony said, stopping the teacher, "I'll keep Peter and Marinelle here, FRIDAY already contacted their guardians and made sure that it was okay. No point sending them back to school for another fifteen minutes only for them to come back."
Mr. Harrington looked a bit surprised but quickly regain his composure. "O-of course Mr. Stark! Thank you for having us." He said before he paused. "I'm sorry about the trouble my student has caused." He said apologetically
Tony only nodded before Thomas escorted the rest of the group to the lobby. Flash seemed to still be in shock and terrified while all of the other team members looked to Marinelle and Peter with newfound respect, as well as so many questions that they'll have to wait before they could ask.
Marinelle waved to them with a smile. Today has been quite an adventure already.
Tony sat down in one of the chairs, about to start asking questions.
"I got to go, honey, my meeting starts in ten minutes, but I want to know the entire story when I get back," Pepper said with a frown after she checked her phone before scurrying off.
It was just Iron dad, Spider son and Spider daughter now.
"Who was that? Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, still irritated from the entire ordeal with Flash.
Peter was the one who answered. "I didn't want you to worry about me, it was no big deal really."
"Peter made me swear secrecy," Marinelle added, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. "That was Flash Thompson, local rich kid bully, but he never leaves Peter alone for a day at school."
"FRIDAY, make sure that name never shows up in the systems anymore, that kid is banned," Tony said before sighing deeply.
"Very well," FRIDAY replied. "I also recorded footage of the entire encounter if you ever need evidence."
Marinelle felt like she could give the AI a high five right now if she could.
"Listen, kids, your heart is in the right place, but promise me that you'll say something the next time anything bothers you okay? I don't care if you don't want to worry me or don't want to bother me or whatever kind of shiznit excuse, you're telling me no matter what, capiche?" He asked, looking to the both of them.
"Yes, Mr. Stark," Peter replied, looking down towards the ground.
Marinelle waited, knowing what Stark was going to say.
"Tony."
Peter sighed, but he managed to smile and look up slightly. "Yes, Tony."
"Ay ay, sir," Marinelle replied, beaming up to him.
Tony nodded, satisfied before he clapped his hands together and got up from his chair to begin walking out of the room. "Okay interns, anyways, I was thinking of maybe adding an update onto both of your AIs..."
Peter looked towards Marinelle as they followed behind Tony. "Thanks for back there." He whispered to her.
"Don't sweat it Spidey," Marinelle replied, playfully bumping into her best friend. "See? The field trip wasn't that bad." She said with a chuckle.
Peter grinned. "Yeah, it wasn't, even though our classmates will never leave us alone anymore." He laughed.
Marinelle shrugged before grinning and giving him a hug. "Yeah."
Peter hugged her back. She had been right, this field trip really wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
Maybe his Parker Luck™ is finally turning around.
