Happy Birthday

Summary: Your boyfriend Peter gives you the best birthday ever
————————
Your birthday wasn't your favorite day of the year. It's not as though you hated it or anything, you just never really loved it. It was just another day for you, and while you were happy seeing loved ones and messing around a little, you didn't really think much of it.

That wasn't until you met Peter.

As soon as you two started dating, Peter immediately asked you when your birthday was.

"Why, Pete? It's not that big of a deal, don't you have one too?" You responded with a smirk, kissing his cheek. Peter blushed as usual, which you found adorable everytime.

"Well, yes, but of course it's a big deal! It's the day my girlfriend was born! I have to know to prepare in advance!" Peter said, flailing his arms about ridiculously to make you laugh. He loved hearing you laugh, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard

"Fine, I'll tell you when my birthday is. If only to get you to stop asking, you cute dork." Peter smiled, happy he got what he wanted out of you and at the cute nickname he loved hearing you call him.

A date was something he could work with, he wanted to make your birthday the best yet. You deserved nothing less, being the absolute love of his life.

And he also got a real kiss, which he definitely didn't complain about. It was 1000% worth the trouble.

So when your birthday finally rolled around, you had completely forgotten about your little conversation with your boyfriend all those months ago. You were home alone for the present, your family out for the time being and you having already "partied it up" with your friends.

Or what you called partying, which was pretty boring in comparison to what your friends wanted to do.

But at least they had gotten you out of the house, you were quick to remind them.

Now you were waiting for your lovely boyfriend to swing by, (literally, since he had revealed his superhero alter ego to you a couple weeks after you started dating) sitting with a tub of ice cream and You've Got Mail so you could get emotional over Tom and Meg's adorable chemistry.

You had just reached the part where Meg's character had entered into Fox Books to see how impersonal the faceless corporation really was when you heard a tap at the window. You froze, and paused the movie, moving the ice cream tub to the side so it wouldn't get overturned. Shrugging off your comforters, you gingerly made your way over to the window, pulling back the curtains to see Peter, Spiderman really, standing outside on your fire escape.

"Peter? When you said swing by, I didn't think you meant it literally." You said with a chuckle, opening the window so he could come in. Peter pulled off his mask to reveal a grin. He peered over your shoulder to see the TV screen.

"You've Got Mail again? I really hope you weren't crying on your birthday, Y/N." He teased, taking your hand to pull you outside next to him. You gasped in mock disbelief, slapping his arm lightly.

"Hey, I love that movie! And any day is a good day for crying!" Peter laughed, drinking in the way the stars glinted off your face and hair. He swore it made you look like an angel sent from Heaven. Which is exactly what you were to him.

"You okay there, Pete?" You waved a hand in front of his face, breaking his daydreaming.

"Yeah, uh-sorry, just admiring the view," he said with a nervous laugh, scratching behind his head and avoiding your smile.

"Peter, we've been dating for five months now. Pretty sure we can gaze adoringly at each other without having to apologize, babe." You giggled at Peter's relieved expression, leaning forward to straddle his lap and kiss him. He reached up to run his hands through your hair, still in awe that he was kissing the most beautiful girl ever, when he suddenly broke away.

"Wait, I'm so stupid, I have something for you! I hope I didn't crush it on the way here!" You quirked an eyebrow as he rummaged through the backpack next to him, almost crying when he pulled out a small bakery box. With a gentle smile, he opened it to show you a gorgeous frosted cupcake inside. The icing was a little smudged from the journey, but you could faintly make out some writing on the top.

To the most beautiful, kind, amazing, girlfriend I don't deserve. I love you, Y/F/N Y/L/N, the love of my life. Happy birthday my love.

Now you started to cry, unable to hold back the emotions as Peter's eyes widened in fear.

"Oh no, oh my god, I hurt you! What-what was it, was it the frosting? Shit, I didn't mean to smudge it! Or was it calling you the love of my life, because I don't want you to-" Peter switched into ramble mode, terrified that he had just lost his girlfriend over something he had done. But he didn't finish, because you kissed him to shut him up.

And this kiss was nothing short of magical, it contained every word and feeling you had never fully been able to express. It was all the love you had felt since you had met the curly-haired boy who had stolen your heart. Peter kissed you back just as passionately, never wanting to let you go. Slowly, you pulled away, laughing while the tears continued to stain your cheeks.

"No, no there's absolutely nothing wrong, Peter. It's just-I can't believe you did this for me. It's the sweetest thing I've ever gotten, I was only crying because I love you so much!" Peter breathed another sigh of relief, cupping your face with a lazy smile, when a realization dawned on his face.

"Wait, did you just say-" He nearly bit his lip to keep from grinning so much. You rolled your eyes and laughed softly.

"Yes, I did. I love you Peter Parker. You are the love of my life too." Peter couldn't stop smiling, as he brought out a little candle and lighter to let you make a wish. You giggled at the sweet gesture, taking your hand in his as you blew out the flame, closing your eyes and making a wish. Peter looked up at you with soft eyes.

"Well, what did you wish for?" You touched his face, grinning when he leant into your touch.

"I didn't really need to wish for anything. The thing I want most is sitting right in front of me." You took the opportunity and kissed him again, allowing his hands to snake up and pull you closer into him. The stars in the sky sparkled down on the two of you, sitting there on the fire escape, the cupcake waiting next to the two of you. But neither of you noticed, just kissing each other lovingly. A shooting star shot by, bright enough to cause you two to stop for a moment. Peter was the first to speak, gazing at you, seeing the whole world in your eyes.

"Happy Birthday, my love." You looked back at him and touched your noses together.

"Thank you for the best birthday ever, my love."
