Welcome to the zoo

-story starts here-
The Avengers, Peter and Pepper all stood in the communal lounge, Steve standing seriously and holding a bag of disguises.
"Okay, so we're going on a trip to the zoo to celebrate Peter getting all A's again. We have disguises, so don't take them off." Steve dug through the bag and pulled out a heap of dark hoodies and caps, along with fake glasses and a couple of fake moustaches.
They were handed around to everyone, except Vision, who could just change his appearance to the one he normally had- instead of the red that most people recognised him by.
Sam held up his disguise, looking at it in confusion. "This is our disguises?" He said doubtfully.
Steve, who was already wearing his disguise, frowned. "Well of course, it works every time."
"And they won't be suspicious that there's a group of people all wearing dark hoodies, moustaches, glasses and caps?"
Steve looked around, looking at how everyone wore the exact same clothing, Natasha even wearing a fake moustache. Non of them looked bothered by the disguises, except for Sam.
"Vision isn't wearing it," Steve pointed out. "And neither is Peter."
Peter didn't need a disguise, so he wore his usual jeans and nerdy tee, a camera slung over his neck. A bag was on his back, and his face held the expression of an overexcited puppy.
Tony clapped his hands together once he had fixed the fake moustache stuck on top of his other moustache, a bright grin on his face.
"To the car!"
***
Everyone piled into the two cars- both vans, with Happy driving one of them and Clint driving the other. Peter with Tony, Pepper, Steve, Bucky, Happy, Sam and Thor. Clint was with Natasha, Wanda, and Vision, a much emptier car, so they looked happy as they listened to music, singing together and wincing at Vision's monotone singing voice.
Peter meanwhile, talked everyone's ears off, Tony on one side of him and Bucky on the other. Sam was behind Bucky, trying to get him to move the seat forward by purposely kicking the back of the seat, which provoked an argument between the two rivals. Beside Sam was Thor and Steve, and Pepper sat in the front.
It took about ten, fifteen minutes to get to the zoo, with Happy yelling at them all to shut up, because it was awfully loud with Bucky and Sam arguing, Steve trying to break it up, Peter talking endlessly to Tony, and Thor talking over the top of everyone in his booming voice, telling them all that he hoped to find Loki while they were there.
Finally they arrived, everyone piling out to find Clint, Natasha, Wanda and Vision already waiting, leaning against the car and chatting amongst themselves.
It was like herding school children, Happy thought, herding them all over to the front of the zoo to get their tickets, some slowing down or stopping to continue their conversations, and Peter slowing down to stare up at the zoo in awe, mouth open as he stumbled over things, not looking where he was going.
"We need one child ticket and-" Tony paused, counting all the heads under his breath. "Eleven adult tickets."
The ticket person typed it in, pulling out a long reel of tickets. "That'll be $340.65 sir."
Tony pulled out his wallet, handing the lady a large wad of cash. "Come on everyone, lets go."
Everyone piled inside, Peter looking around with a big grin and snapping pictures, some of the Avengers, Nat turning around to pose, black moustache still on her upper lip.
"Where to first?" Pepper asked, looking at the map in the brochure in her hands.
They eventually decided on going to the closest one, and going from there. They visited the birds,("look Sam it's your family!") the lions, the tigers, the penguins, the giraffes, the hippos, the kangaroos, and even more animals. They almost got kicked out of the zoo altogether when Thor took out all the snakes, checking to see if they were Loki, and accidentally setting free a tiger snake (aka one of the most deadly snakes on earth). Luckily Tony paid them off, bribing the man who caught them into letting them off.
They were on their way to get lunch when Natasha glanced around and realised Peter wasn't with them.
"Tony? Tony, Peter's not here." She told him, causing his face to turn white as a sheet.
"What?! Where did you see him last?"
"I don't know, I think it was the cats?"
Swearing under his breath, Tony pulled out his phone, calling him.
Peter didn't answer, not to Tony's seven phone calls, and 34 messages, nor to Steve's 3 calls, or Natasha's 6 calls and 7 death threats. So they resorted to possibly the worst decision ever; splitting up.
Sam and Bucky somehow ended up in a pair, and Steve and Natasha, Wanda and Vision, Tony and Pepper, Thor, Clint and Happy all pairs.
Wanda and Vision found Peter's phone near the reptile cave, and it was Bucky and Sam who eventually found Peter.
TweetyBird:
<oh god
<oh my god
<oh my f*cking god
Nat:
<what?
<what is it?
BuckyTheDeer:
<we found Peter
<we're gonna need assistance
-BuckyTheDeer has shared his location-
When everyone made their way to the reptile cave, they were shocked to find exactly where Peter was.
In the crocodile habitat, on the bank, frozen in fear as he eyed the crocodile nearby.
Bucky and Sam were talking to him, trying to get him to come closer.
But Peter had a crocodile in between him and the only way out, and there was no way in hell he was going to get past a saltwater crocodile.
"It's a crocodile! They death roll you to- well, death, and not only that, it's a freaking saltwater crocodile, it's bigger and more dangerous than a freshwater crocodile!" Peter hissed to them, eyes wide with terror.
"Peter?!" Tony shrieked when he walked in, running over to the large fence. "How'd you get over there?"
"I was looking at the crocodile and I fell in and you realise that that thing on the fence prevents you from getting back out? It's made for a crocodile, and apparently a teenager too."
Tony started taking deep breaths, Pepper beside him to help him.
Steve was devising a plan on how to get Peter out, and hadn't even told the others what it was when he started to climb over the fence.
"Steve? Steve what are you doing?" Bucky called. Steve didn't answer, so he followed him with an exhasperated sigh.
While Steve started distracting the crocodile, Bucky went and picked up Peter, throwing him over his shoulder and yeeting him back over the fence, turning to Steve once Peter was over.
"Come on Stevie, we need to go." He said, slightly worried for Steve's safety as the crocodile looked at him warily, looking ready to death roll him to death.
"I'm coming Buck, get back over the fence."
"I'm not bloody getting over until you do."
"Bucky this isn't a great time to be all moral and sh*t." Steve told him.
"Language." Sam, Natasha, Tony, Peter and Clint all reminded him.
Steve sighed, mumbled something under his breath, and turned around with no warning, bolting for the fence.
"I told you to get over the fence you idiot!" Steve yelled when he saw Bucky was not yet over the fence. The crocodile had lunged after him, just missing his ankle.
They both scrambled over the fence, breathing a sigh of relief when the crocodile missed them completely.
Bucky turned to Steve with a big grin. "Punk." He told him, ruffling his hair. Steve smiled, rolling his eyes and looked to where Peter was wearing Natasha's jumper, Natasha hugging him to her side while Tony yelled at him for not being careful enough.
Peter even tried pulling his 'looking up to you' card.
"I just wanted to be like you!"
Alas, it didn't work, so they all went to get ice cream, deciding to calm down a bit.
"You're still grounded." Tony told him saltilly as he handed Peter a mars bar flavoured ice cream in a waffle cone.
"Of course," Peter told him, eyebrows going down seriously, as though this was something obvious.
After ice cream, they went to the gift shop, where Peter disappeared for five minutes (giving poor Tony a heart attack) and reappearing with armfuls of stuffed animal teddys and a zoo t-shirt, as well as a new magnet ("a christmas present for Bucky, but don't tell him dad!") and three animal books.
Well it's not like I spoil Peter, Tony thought, swiping his credit card across the keypad to purchase all eight of the teddy bears, the zoo t-shirt, magnet and three animal books.
His mind wandered back to the three lego sets he had bought for him just the week before, and the countless meals and junk food he had bought Peter when asked, as well as the multi-million dollar suits he made for him, and all the outings the two of them had had together, ranging from expensive restaurants to watching movies in the cinemas.
But no, of course he didn't spoil him.
After the gift shop, they decided to head home, having experienced enough excitement for the day.
Peter told Ned and MJ all about what had happened at school the next day.
"And the crocodile was so close, I could almost see it lick it's lips, it was ready to eat me! I swear, one movement and it would have death rolled me to death. Then Mum and Grandma came and Grandma went 'I'll save you!' And yeeted me over the fence while mum danced with the crocodile to distract it. Then they went 'oh sh*t it's gonna eat us!' And they ran at the fence and climbed over and then looked at each other like they were gonna kiss and then we went to get ice cream."
"Wow."
"Yeah it was terrifying, one of the scariest near death experiences I've ever had."
"But Peter you're a superhero, don't you-"
"It was gonna death roll me Ned! It was gonna death roll me TO DEATH!"
"Okay Peter."
"Shut up MJ."
