Stable Boy (Pt. 3)
~ August 2nd~
Harley POV
"Peter!" I shouted, slamming open his door.
I had to admit, it was rather humorous to see him fall into the floor.
"Ahh! Harley? What?" He didn't sound fully awake yet, his hair was all over the place. Why I noticed that, I couldn't tell you.
"A little birdie told me that yesterday was your birthday," I said in a sing-song voice.
"Damnit, Ned said he wouldn't tell anyone," Pete complained groggily, standing up.
"If it makes ya feel any better he tried to avoid tellin' me," I offer.
"So what I'm hearing is that I should be mad at you instead," Peter said, raising an eyebrow.
"Aww ya could never stay mad at me. Now hurry up and get ready," I say, making a 'shoing' motion with my hand.
"Why? Need me to saddle a horse for you?" He sassed.
"Nah, we're going into town today. Also I know how to saddle my own horse," I scoffed.
"Then why do you make me do it!?"
"It's more fun that way," I felt myself smirk, "now come on,"
"There's no way I'm getting out of this is there?" Peter sighed out.
"Well...there is one way......" I trailed off, hoping he would take the bait.
"Really?" He asked sounding surprised.
"Nope," I could feel myself break out into a grin.
"Was that really nessasarry?" He pouted, he looked like I had just burned to book he really wanted to read.
"Yep, that's what you get for trying to hide this from me," I laughed lightly as he sighed in defeat.
"Alright I'll be out in a minute,"
~Time Skip~
"So why are we going into town? Why not just stay back and do something?"
Peter and I where about half way to the closest town, a semi-large town called Queens. I had been there many, many times. While it may not be the biggest town it's very diverse, selling lots of different, random things.
" 'Cause it's tradition. Each time a friends birthday rolls 'round, I take 'em into town and buy them somethin' that they want," I explained, though he still looked confused.
".....You are one confusing person Harley Keener," He chuckled, shanking his head.
"Oh? How so?" I asked, curiously.
"Well......," He paused for a minute, "When I first heard about you, well, I thought you where going to be another Flash. Using your nobility to your advantage. Call me shallow for thinking that way but it's the only way I've ever seen. But instead you treat people with respect and are a genuinely nice guy. It was just unexpected I suppose,"
I was silent for a moment, letting the compliment sink in.
"Do ya know how I met the old man?"
"Nope, no ones told me," Peter said, but he look intrigued.
"Well, it was during one of the northern raids, one king Fury ordered. He got ambushed, and badly hurt. His horse kinda crashed into my barn. Anyway, I just treated the old bastard like I would any other person. I didn't grovel, or ask for anything in return, just treated his wounds and offered him what I could. I guess he appreciated it? Said somethin' 'bout it makin' him feel normal. From that day on I chose to treat people the way that person deserves to be treated. Wether it's with respect or not has nothin' to do with social status,"
"That's really sweet, I wonder why people don't talk about it," He wondered out loud.
"It's because I haven't told anyone," I admitted. I didn't want people know because then it's almost like I'm fishing for complements.
"Really? Not even Ned or MJ?!" He sounded surprised.
"Nope, though I'm fairly sure old man Tony told Bruce and Nat about it. So they might have heard indirectly. Your the first person I've told,"
Peters face turned bright red, and I was confused as to why. Was he sick? But before I got to question him, he spoke.
"Why? I mean you don't have to tell me I'm just curious,"
"Nah it's fine, if ya live your life with everyone tellin' ya your the best, or your so heroic. You'll let it get to your head no matter how hard ya try not to let it. That why I surround myself with people who'll keep me in check," I laughed a bit at the last part, but every word I spoke was the truth.
When Tony asked if I would be his....whatever I am, I did it solely so I could provide for my mom and sister. I wanted nothing more than to be free to do as I pleased. When I accepted, I knew people would try and suck up to me due to me being basically his heir. That why made friends with Ned, M.J and eventually Peter. They wouldn't suck up to me, they would voice different opinions and treat me like a regular person.
"That's really sweet," Peter did this thing between a laugh and a giggle, and to be honest it was quite cute.
"Oh hey, we're here," I said, pointing about fifty meters ahead where the town sat.
"Oh wow, didn't see that there," Peter blinked twice.
"How did you not see it?" I smirked over at him.
He muttered something under his breath that I couldn't hear.
"What was that?"
"Nothing! Let's just tie up the horses and go," Peter rushed, hopping off his horse and tiring her to the post, "now please don't run away because walking all the way back would suck,"
Stella huffed in response.
"I'll never understand how y'all act with each other," I shook my head, then hopped off my horse to tie her up.
"It's mainly just body language, I can teach you if you want,"
I felt myself smirk again.
"Sounds scandalous," I teased.
Peter looked confused, tilting his head and staring at me. Then he seemed to realize what I meant.
"HARLEY YOU ASS!!!! You're the only person I know who would ever think about it that way!" Peter hit my arm lightly, trying to hide his red face.
"I know, now come on, your present won't buy itself,"
And with that I dragged him into the busy market place. We goofed off for hours, just walking through the rather crowded streets. Peter had never been to a large town before.
We ended up staying for almost the whole day. Peter said while he was here he should look at some herb shops. So we went in and his eyes lit up. I practically had to drag him out of the store after I bought him a bunch of them, it's what he wanted.
On the ride back I made a mental note of how easy Peter was to talk to. You could tell him almost anything and he would be super chill and accepting of it.
But I got a feel that it was more than that. I genuinely enjoyed his company, a lot at that.
There are a lot of thing I don't understand about my feeling towards him. I don't understand why I go out of my way to see him. I don't understand the way my heart skips around when I do. I don't understand why I find myself so easily agitated when other people are getting to close to him.
And don't even get me started on the dream I had the other night. (AN: NOT LIKE THAT YOU NASTIES I SWEAR TO GODS) Where I woke up in the same bed as him, and instead of freaking out I felt so content and safe and love-
Oh
oH!
It all came crashing down on me at once.
I was falling in love with Peter Parker.
Unexpected, but it explains a lot.
"Harley, are you alright? You look a little red," Peter broke the comfortable silence, sounding concerned.
"Did Huh? Yeah I'm fine, probably just a sunburn," I shrugged, trying to act nonchalant, truthfully though I was still revealing in my little discovery.
"Oh, I have a salve for that! It helps with inflammation and stuff! I think I just need one more herb that grows in this area to make it, if you wanna help me find it," Peter said.
I'd never turn down a opportunity then, so I won't now.
"Lead the way,"
~September 30th~
Peter POV
I was pacing, I don't understand what's going on. Am I sick? Am I cursed? I don't know I'm just so confused.
Hopefully Ned will be here soon.
The problem always happened whenever Harley was in the picture, whether it was seeing him or thinking about him. My chest started aching and my head starts spinning. I checked all my books, but there's nothing with symptoms like this.
"Did I make him angry some how? Did Harley curse me? No that's not right, he would've said something if I hurt his feelings that bad....or at all hopefully. So what the actual hell is wrong with me?" I mutter to myself.
I was startled out of my thought by Ned letting himself in.
"Hey Peter- wow, are you ok?" He asked, probably seeing the holes I've worn into the floor due to my copious amounts of pacing.
"Yes, but no, I don't know. I asked you here to help me figure it out please," I begged.
"Of course I'll help!" Ned exclaimed, sitting at my very small table, "explain what's wrong,"
I continue my pacing for a moment, then I let out a heavy sigh, and sit down on my bed.
"I- I don't know. Whenever Harley comes around my heart I just- It hurts. Whenever he leaves I feel a pang in my heart, but when he comes and we hang out and talk, my heart feels like it could explode! I-I feel like I could fly or take on a giant if he told me to! And every time he pops into my head I can't help but smile and be happy, but still sad at the same time! I don't understand, it's just so confusing. Whats wrong with me?"
Ned got up, and sat next to me, not saying anything for a bit.
"Peter," Ned said in a gentle voice, resting a hand in my shoulder, "do you think it's possible that you might be... falling in love, with Harley?"
"What! N-no of co-course not w-why w-w-would you think that?!" I exclaimed, I mean sure, Harley was....Harley. But that doesn't mean I'm in love with the man.
"What would you do if Harley kissed you right now?" Ned asked.
I felt my face light up like it was on fire. What would I do? My first instinct tells me that I'd probably go along with it. I mean this is Harley we're talking about and-
....Oh.
Ned must have taken my silence as my answer.
"B-but I'm a guy and he's a guy! That's weird! Well not actually because Shuri talks about how same gender couples get married in Wakanda all the time. But it's fine, as long as he doesn't know, I'll be fine and it'll go away," I say mostly to myself.
"Peter, are you sure that's the best thing for you to do?" Ned asked.
"Yes!" I exclaim, standing up again, and spinning to face him, "just please, don't tell anyone about this,"
"I won't, it's not my place even if I wanted to. Which I don't, because I wouldn't betray your trust like that," Ned went on a min-rant.
"Thank you Ned. For talking with me and not judging,"
"Of course! You can talk to me about anything, judgment free!" Ned said.
We talked for a little while longer. Mostly Ned rambling about how brilliant Mr. Banners work is, and me listening with massive interest. Time must really fly when you're having fun conversations, because soon Ned has to leave.
"Just is you know," Ned said at the door, "If you keep your feelings to yourself, they'll eat you from the inside out,"
And with that he left.
~January 11th~
Harley POV
God this is boring.
I was sitting in the library with this girl who I was supposed to be entertaining. Her name's Pidge I think? It's not unusual for Tony to have visitors, much less important ones. But some how I always got stuck humoring their daughters while the "adults" talked. Normally I would have tolerated it, but I could be hanging out with Peter right now.
I internally groaned as I listened to this girl ramble on about.... lions?
I didn't care enough to listen.
Hmm, maybe if we go on a walk or something I'll run into him. Then he can nerd out with this girl! It would really be a win/win situation.
"Hey," I said, cutting off whatever she was rambling about now, "do ya wanna go on walk? It's kinda stuffy in here,"
"Hmm, sure, I could use a bit of fresh air," She said, pushing up her glasses.
"Great, I'll show ya 'round the grounds,"
With that we set off, falling into an awkward silence that grew super uncomfortable.
"So... what was that legend ya were talking about?" I asked, remembering that that's what she was rambling about earlier from a few pieces I actually heard.
"Oh! Voltron! Yeah I've read all about it...,"
Perfect! No more weird silence.
When we reached the main entrance of the house, the maids helped us get on our winter wear. Gloves, a light jacket and cloaks, while there wasn't any snow right now, it was still very cold. After that I zoned out again. If Peter was here, he would be rambling along side Pidge. He would be much cuter while doing so though. I wonder if we can hang out later or if he has work to do. He always working so much, maybe I should ask Tony to give him a raise or less hours or something. That way we can hang out more. I wonder when his next day off is-
I was snapped out of my thoughts by a tapping on my shoulder.
"Are you looking for a secret mistress or something?"
"What makes ya say that?!" I asked, startled.
"Well," she said, adjusting her glasses, "The whole time I was talking you seemed out of it, not that I cared because anything is better than awkward silence. Also I stopped talking right when we got outside, you where so out of it that you didn't seem to notice. On top of that instead of taking the very clearly marked main path, we went down this weird one which leads directly to the stables. So it was really a fair assumption,"
"Fair, but incorrect. Peter is just a friend," I laughed a little bit, she was far more perceptive than I gave her credit for.
"Ah, so your in love with him but haven't said anything about it. Nice," She said in a monotone voice.
"Woah who said anything about love!?" I asked, feeling myself blush a bit. Wow this girl was really perceptive.
"Your eyes did. Gods you look like a love sick fool," she laughed really hard at that, "Don't worry about it though, you should meet Lance and Keith. Took them forever to get together,"
"Lance and Keith...are they both-"
"Men? Yes," Pidge cut me off from my question.
"And that doesn't bother you?"
"No, why would it?"
"Well, back at my village. A girl and her female lover made it known that they where getting married. It didn't end well," I shivered at the memory.
"What happened?"
"The villagers burned down the first ones house, she didn't make it out. The second one let them kill her out of despair,"
"Oh wow, that's so fucked," She gasped.
"Aren't you a bit young to be using that language?" I teased, reviving a punch on the arm.
"ArEnT yOu A bIt OlD tO dEnY yOuR fEeLiNgS?" She replied in a mocking tone.
"Ha, touché. Oh look, we're here,"
I scanned the stable, trying to spot Peter. I was confused as to why I didn't see him, but then I saw the Stella wasn't here either.
"Damnit, we must have missed him," I muttered mostly to myself.
"You look like someone just kicked a puppy," Pidge remarked, snickering to herself.
"Oh hush, I guess I'll introduce the two of ya when he gets back," I felt myself pout but didn't really care.
"Why would you introduce the love of your life to the person that would clearly embarrass the both of you?" Pidge had a demon like grin.
"'Cuz you're both nerds, you'd forget all about it after he starts rambling about healing properties of Lily's or something," I said, starting to head back to the main building.
"Wait! Those have healing properties?! I never considered that!" Pidge exclaimed, getting that same glint in her eye that Peter got while rambling.
"Like I said, nerds, the both of ya,"
She was about to say something, until a familiar whinny cut her off. I felt my face lighten up as I spin around and saw Stella cantering towards us. But my stomach dropped when I saw a Stella with no Peter attached.
"What's wrong?" Pidge questioned, she must have seen my expression change.
"That's Peters horse, she never goes anywhere without him," I said, panicking more and more by the second. Call me over dramatic, but Stella never left Peter.
Stella stopped on the other side of the fence.
"Where's Peter?" I was so worried I didn't comprehend the fact that she couldn't respond to me.
She settled for stamping her foot.
"Can ya take me to 'im?" I asked, feeling my accent slip up even more.
She stamped her foot again.
Without hesitating, I quickly hopped onto the fence and mounted Stella. Much to my surprise, she didn't buck me off.
"Will ya be alright?" I asked Pidge, suddenly remembering I was supposed to be watching her.
"Yeah I'll be fine, go get your man," She said, making a 'shoing' motion.
She didn't have to tell me twice. I gave Stella a little kick and she took off into the forest at a gallop.
We stuck to that pace for about five minutes, until I saw what looked like a person kneeling on the forest floor.
"Peter!" I yelled as Stella slowed and came to a halt.
Peters head whipped around, he looked confused, until he saw me on Stella.
"Oh, that's where she went," He said in his usual cheery voice.
"Why aren't ya wearing a coat? Or gloves? Gods ya look like yer freezin' !!" I exclaimed, getting off of Stella and rushing over to him.
"Woah woah, one question at a time. This," he held up his jacket, which he was cradling, "is why I'm not wearing a jacket."
He unwrapped a small bit of it and inside was a pure white bunny. At least, I think it was all white, it was hard to tell with the sheer amount of blood on its fur.
"Oh," I said, all my panic lost at the sight, I kneeled down next to Peter "is there anything you can do?"
He shook his head sadly.
"There too much damage. I just couldn't let her die cold and alone," He covered her back up and set her on the ground still wrapped in his jacket.
"'M sorry," I wasn't really sure what to say, I had never been good at expressing sympathy.
"It's alright, besides, I can take care of her babies for her,"
He pulled a mitten out of his pocket and opened it up a bit, inside was a whole stack of white baby bunnies.
"Awww, how'd ya find 'em?"
"They came out crying for there mom, so I shoved the three of them into a mitten and put the other one over that," He said, placing the bunnies back into his satchel.
He shivered and I mentally face palmed. How could I forget that he was sitting out in this super cold weather without a jacket or mittens.
"How long have ya been out here?" I asked, standing up and offering him my hand.
"About thirty minutes? Give or take," He took my hand and I helped him up.
I gave him a look, while noticing how his skin had a purple tint to it and how he was shivering.
After a moment of battling with myself, I pulled him into a hug. He seemed to tense up at first, but quickly hugged back, which made my heart skip for joy. We just kinda stood there for a minute, not really saying anything.
"H-hey umm w-we should pr-robably get back," Peter said, pulling away.
"Yeah that probably a good idea,"
I took off my cloak and gloves, holding them out for Peter to take.
"I-I can't t-take those! You'll be cold!" He protested, pushing them back towards me.
"Pete, it'll take ten minutes to get back, I'll be fine," I said, throwing the cloak around his shoulders and buttoning the three buttons that secured it. One I was done, I took a step back. It's fit him almost perfectly. My heart proceeded to do backflips.
Wait, is he blushing?
A red coating covered Peters face.
No probably not....but what other explanation is there? He's just too cute in general honestly.
"I-ok if you s-sure you'll be fine..." he trailed off, taking the gloves gingerly and putting them on.
"Perfect," I said, getting back on Stella, "now c'mon,"
"Wait how come you're the one in the saddle?"
"Because my hands aren't purple, now hurry up." I offered him my hand, he took it. Placing his foot in the stirrup, he swung himself up and settled behind me, not on the saddle but still on the blanket.
"Great, now wrap ya arms around me,"
~Thought Id Bless Y'all With A Little Third Person POV~
"W-what?!" Peter was happy that he had the excuse of being cold. Because Harley was really making it hard not to stutter.
"Unless ya wanna fall off," Harley said smoothly. He praised himself for keeping a cool person, but on the inside he was screaming. Would Peter do it? Would he not? He couldn't tell.
Peter almost immediately wrapped his arms around the blonde boys waist. Then cursed himself for doing it right away. Harley on the other hand, was ready to cry tears of joy, barely noticing how quick Peter was to comply.
"Alright," Harley said in a cheery voice, "let's go,"
When Stella started moving, Peter jolted forward, not expecting the action and subconsciously tightened his grip. He was about to loosen it again and apologize, but then he froze.
'Oh my god, he has A-B-S! Holy shit. Like I knew he hand them but oh my gods. Is this ok? Should I be doing this? Harley hasn't said anything so it's fine right?'
Peters thoughts moved at a million miles an hour, before deciding that he should just stay like he was, besides, when was he gonna get this opportunity again?
On the flip side, Harley was also losing his shit.
'Oh wow has muscle, a lot of muscle. I mean it's not really surprising because he lifts for like eight hours a day but how does he not show it? This isn't fair, he's gonna kill me one day. I'm calling it right now. Dear gods I'm so in love with this boy,'
~Just Thought Id Give You That Moment Back to Harley POV~
I was cut out of my thoughts when Peter rested his head on my shoulder.
"Ya tired?" I asked, chuckling slightly.
"Mmh, not really, I'm just lazy. Do you mind it?" His voice was slightly muffled.
"Not at all Darlin' go for it,". The 'Darlin' part slipped out on accident, but I can't exactly go back on it now.
He hummed in response, and we just stayed like that, the whole way home. Peter would occasionally unwrap one if his arms to check in the bunnies, then sigh in relief and go back how he was.
Granted it took us longer to get back. because we were walking, but I sure as hell ain't complaining. When we got back into the pasture, I was surprised to see Pidge, leaning against the fence. She had a book in hand, but put it down when she heard us coming.
"Woah there Prince Charming, what happened to you guys?" Pidge asked, hiding her book in the folds of her dress.
"Peter found a bunny that was injured and refused to let it die alone," I summed up, sliding off the horse.
"Awe, thats cute." Her gaze shifted to Peter, "I take it your Peter?"
"I believe that's what my name is," Peter sassed, hopping off of Stella and leading her to her stall.
"Damn, your sassy, I like you. My names Pidge," She said, following on the other side of the fence.
Peter stopped for a second a went pale.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean- I mean I ment-, this is your fault," Peter jabbed a finger at me.
"It's not my fault I bring out the best in ya,"
"I sassed a total stranger who didn't do anything to deserve it. Again Pidge I'm so sorry," He said, taking off Stellas bridal and walking into the stables.
"It's totally fine, I thought it was funny," Pidge assured.
"Hey Pidge, how long till ya think the meetings over?" I asked, hoping it was soon.
Much to my dissmay, Pidge sighed loudly.
"Probably another two hours,"
"Would you guys like to come in?" Peter offered, "I-,"
"Yes we would like that," Pidge and I said in unison, cutting him off.
"Alright, come on then," he laughed, motioning for us to follow.
~Time Skip~
"And that's how I found out that you can use sage as a substitute for rosemary,"
(A/N: I know that's not true I just can't think for shit)
"Fascinating, we should compare notes sometime," Pidge said, sipping her cup of tea.
I've just been sitting on Peters bed for the past hour or so watching these two nerds ramble on about Alchemy and Botany and whatever else.
The three bunnies where alive and thriving. When we had first entered Peters cottage, it was already warm, to which he informed us that he and left the embers of a fire sit while he was out in his ride. Due to the warmth the bunnies kept hopping around, trying to explore. They finally settled down....next to me....while I pet them.....because they where the most adorable things to grace this earth.
Obviously besides Peter.
"Harley, pay attention to Peter, he's gonna get jealous," Pidge snickered.
"W-w-what no I- piiiidge," Peter complained, cheeks flushing slightly.
"Awe don't worry Pete, your still my favorite," I said, sending him a wink.
He stuttered some more, before looking down.
"I never asked for this treatment," Peter mubbled, pouting in the cute way he does.
Before I could answer, the door slammed open, startling all of us.
"PIDGE ARE YOU IN HERE!!!" A tall boy with brown hair like Pidge.
"Fucking Hell Matt! You didn't have to almost break Peters door you jackass!" Pidge shot back. Holy crap that girl an cuss.
"Hehe, yeah, sorry about that," 'Matt' said, rubbing the back of his head. "Wow it's surprisingly cozy in here,"
"Thank you, would you like some tea," Peter offered, smiling.
I felt a flare of jealousy when I saw Matt blush.
"No thank, but maybe another ti-,"
He was cut off by pidge, who managed to get up and elbow him in the stomach.
"Come on you home wrecker, it's time to go. Peter, Harley, lovely meeting you and I'll see ya later,"
And with that, she dragged Matt out and shut the door.
We both stood in silence for a second.
"Well...that was somthin'," I laughed slightly.
"Yeah it was," Peter snorted.
"Well, it's probably time for me to head back as well," I said, standing up slowly so
I wouldn't disturb the bunnies.
"Oh," He said holding out my cloak for me to take as I walk past, "this is yours,"
"Hmm, you keep it. You kinda ruined your coat," I smiled, pushing the cloak gently back at Peter.
"I can't possibly keep this," He pressed, still trying to hand it to be.
"I have others, you don't, you're keeping it," I said, holding my hands up and rushing towards the door.
"I will pay you back for this!" Peter exclaimed.
"It's a gift dummy," I smiled at him, and opened the door, "I gave it to ya cause I care,"
And with that I shut the door, but I still got the see the blood rush to his face again.
~March 1st~
Peter POV
When I opened my eyes, it was still dark out. Which confused me, because I never woke up before dawn.
I heard a clatter from....outside? Yep it was definitely from outside, the bunnies are asleep.
Hmm, so since the horses aren't whining, it much be someone they know. I should see if they need any help, that is my job after all.
I rush quickly to my closet, and throw on trousers, a tunic, some shoes and Harley's cloak. I was impressed with myself because it was under a minute.
I quickly rushed to my door, as I opened it, light flooded in. All of the "Avengers" where in the stable, readying their horses. I felt confused as to why they didn't wake me up to do that, again, literally my job.
"Hey kid! Crap we didn't mean to wake you," Mr. Stark noticed me first, drawing everyone's attention to me.
"No it's fine, I'm more confused as to why you didn't wake some up. Is there anything I can help with?" I asked, Mr. Stark simply shook his head.
"Where are you guys heading to anyway? This looks like a lot of supply's,"
The whole group seemed to freeze, they looked at each other, then walk out of the stable.
"You have an hour, make it count," Mr. Stark said to Harley, before he left too.
"Harley...what's going on?" I asked, a bad feeling rising in my chest, Harley walked up, stopping right in front of me.
"Well, ya know 'bout the war going on with the Hydra Kingdom?" He asked.
"Well yeah, who doesn't?" I was confused, why was he bringing this up?
Harley bit his lip nervously.
"Well, King Furry has ordered us to go help," Harley finished.
My face paled, I could feel it. This could not be happening right now. Right?
"Harley if this is a joke it's not funny," I could fear my eyes welling up. I already lost my parents in that war, and now I'm about to lose the love of my life!
"I'm sorry Peter," He said in a quiet voice.
"What about Ned and M.J?" I asked, not able to make eye contact with him.
"They aren't coming, they're more help here,"
"Then why aren't you staying here!?" I asked, raising my voice slightly.
"Because they need me out there," Harley tried to reason.
I didn't care, not in the slightest.
"Well I need you here!" I fired back, not realizing what I was saying at this point.
"Peter you have other friends you'll be fine,"
"IT NOT JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE MY FRIEND HARLEY!!" I exclaimed, finally looking. Although it was to see because tear blurred my vision.
"Then what could it possibly-," Harley tired to speak, but I cut him off.
How? you ask.
I kissed him.
Before I could even comprehend what I did, I grabbed his face and kissed him. Right in the lips, and gods it felt great.
Then reality came back to me and I quickly pulled away. I'm pretty sure my face looked like a tomato.
Harley looked startled, eyes still wide with shock.
Gods damnit I can believe I fuck that up, he's gonna hate me now. Gods fucking damnit.
I was about to apologize or run away, probably both, when Harley grabbed me by my wrist and dragged be back to my front door.
He opened my door, pushed me against the wall, and shut my door all in one motion.
"Oh my gosh Harley I'm so sorry I shouldn't have done that I- my brain just did a thing and my body, Umm, fuck I don't know," I felt myself start to cry, tears rolling down my face as I squeezed my eyes shut.
I felt a hand cup my cheek, brushing away my tears and tilting my chin up slightly.
I opened my tear filled eyes just in time for them to widen in shock.
Harley quickly leaned in, and pressed his lips against mine.
I was frozen for about two seconds, then I realized that I should kiss back. I experimentally moved my lips against his.
And that's when we both lost it. I don't know how long we spent kissing, but we where both panting messes when we parted for the final time.
(A/N: no smut in this holy book (maybe in another thou ;)) Sexual innuendos however come in abundance)
"You have- no idea- how long I've wanted to- do that for," Harley panted out, it was hard to see, I didn't light any lamps before I left, but I could feel Harley's smile.
"Probably not as long as me," I said, walking over to my closest lantern and lighting it.
"I'll take that bet, what do I get if I win?" Harley asked, following me.
"I don't know, what do you want?" I asked back.
"Hmm," He hummed, thinking, "another kiss,"
"Right then, it's a bet, when did you start?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"August 2nd," He said without hesitation.
"You remember the day?!" I asked, walking over to my bed and sitting down.
"Well it was the day we went into town, the day after your birthday. So it's hard to forget," Harley shrugged, sitting next to me.
"Damn," I said, leaning in and giving him a quick peck on the lips, "guess you won,"
"I know, but by how much?" He asked curiously.
"I think I realized in October?" I said, trying to recall.
"Hmm, not that bad," Harley said, leaning his head on my shoulders.
"Umm hey," I said, standing up and doing a one-eighty. "W-would it be too weird if I asked to maybe, possibly, cuddle?"
"Not at all," Harley said, he kicked off his shoes and adjusted so that he was laying on the bed.
I removed my shoes too and laid down next to him, unsure of what to do. Harley chuckled slightly, turning to his side, he wrapped an arm around me and pulled me closer to him.
"Your aloud to cuddle let me ya know," Harley said bopping my nose.
"W-well I-I mean it's usually just a thing for exclusive people and I didn't know what to call us so I thought I'd ask and-,"
"Do you wanna be my lover?" Harley asked, cutting me off.
"W-what?"
"Do ya wanna be my lover? So that way we are exclusive,"
"YES! I-I mean yes if that's what you want?"
Harley grasped one of my hands and placed a kiss on my palm.
"I would like not more Darlin',"
"That's nice," I mumble sleepily, then I realize that I'm falling asleep. "Bad Peter, stay awake,"
"Pete if your tired then you should sleep," Harley said in a gentle voice.
"No I won't, you're leaving to go up to the stupid battle field and I don't know if I'll see you again!" I exclaimed, I could feel myself start to cry again.
"I'm working the the mechanics tent, I'll be far away from any violence. Sweetheart it's alright, I'll come back," Harley lightly brushed the hair out of my eyes as I continued crying.
"You better," I sniffled as my tears just kept coming down.
But Harley whispered sweet nothings to me, till my tiredness finally won out, and I feel asleep.
~
I jolted out of bed.
Did I fall asleep? For how long? Was Harley still here?
However, my heart sank when I saw that it was bright out. They've already left.
I sulky get up, and the light reflects off of a shiny object on the table. Curious, I walk over and see that it's a pocket watch, not just any one though, the on Harley always carried with him. I picked it up, then noticed the note under it.
Dear Peter,
I'm sure you've seen me carry this thing around, it's one of my prized possessions, a watch from my mom. But the "front line" might not be the safest place for it, so I'm trusting it to you.
Don't worry though, I don't need a watch to count down the minutes till I get to see you again ;)
Yours Truly
-Harley <3
I scoffed and held the watch close to my chest, fight back tears again.
"You better hurry back,"

Peter POV
It's been six months since they left. Six long months and I hated all of it. Sure there where good moment when I could forget about Harley being gone, but they would never last more than an hour.
We wrote of course, but it took too long for it to get there and back.
I was currently hiding in my cottage, of course it was still nice and cozy. Yet something just felt off, like a piece of it was missing.
At least I have the bunnies, they've grown up so wonderfully! I wonder if they'll want to go back to the wild soon or stay here.
I heard the door open and shut. This was a usual for Ned, he would just pop by to see how I was doing.
But today I just wanted to be left alone.
"Not in the mood today Ned, I'm fine," I groan, handing under the covers more.
"Wow, ya haven't seen me in six months and this is the welcome back I get?"
Holy shit!
Is it really...?
I sat up and whipped around so fast I almost fell off the bed, but it was so worth it. Because I got to see a face I haven't seen in six long ass months.
"HARLEY!!" I exclaimed, jumping out of bed and rushing into his arms. "Oh my gods is it really you!?"
"Yep, I'm the real deal," He broke our hug slightly then leaned in and kissed me. I happily kissed back, so excited that I could feel myself bounce.
"I missed you so much," I mumbled against his lips.
"I missed you too, gods," Harley said, pulling all the way away. Now that I wasn't focused on kissing him, I saw that he had bags under his eyes.
"Are you tired?" I asked, grabbing his hand and dragging him to my bed.
"Yeah, I rode ahead of the others so I would get back faster," Harley yawned, flopped down on the bed, then looked back up at me, "You know, this beds a lot more comfortable with you in it,"
"Alright, let me change into something more comforta-ble," My voice when up in pitch as Harley grabbed my wrist and pulled me down into the bed with him.
"Ha ha Harley let me up," I said, trying to squirm out of his hold.
"Nope, no can do," Harley smiled down at me and I knew I couldn't be mad.
"Fine," I sighed.
Harley gave a little fist pump then settled down. We both just laid there in comfortable silence.
"Hey Pete," Harley said, poking my cheek.
"What? " I looked up at him from my place on his chest.
"I love you,"
I felt myself smile, and I felt happier than I had in a long time.
"I love you too,"
May look, I finally got some good luck.
